When my phone comes off of a fresh dalvik cache wipe and/or a fresh rom flash, I get amazing 3g speeds. However this lasts for only a few hours until they come back down.
Details:
- CM6 stable (I've experienced this with CM RC's too, but can't remember before that)
- "regular" repeatable max 3g speeds in a controlled location = 300-400kB down, 50kB up
- max 3g speeds after a fresh dalvik wipe in same location and time = 400-500kB down, 150 kB up
Before CM6, i used to always get my 500 down/150 up. But recently (past few months) I've noticed that I no longer get those speeds, instead I get the slower 400/50.
However, I also notice that if I wipe my Dalvik cache (from Clockwork), I regain my upload back to 150. The download stays at a low 200/300. Then I run speedtest on wifi once, then back to 3g again, and it will skyrocket to 500 down. It's repeatable again and again and again for hours, until I forget about it and do other things. Then after waiting a half a day or a day, my speed test go back down to 400/50 again. Then if I wipe Dalvik and start the process over, I magically get back my faster speeds again.
I'm not sure if I'm explaining this in a good way. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and if you've experienced the same? I dont know if it has anything to do with CM6. I've tried 2 different radios and same symptoms occur, so I dont think it's the radio. It's not my ATT service either since the pattern is repeatable again and again.
Anyone have any ideas?
k i tested it and got 1830 down and 167 up and wiped dalvik cache and now got 3156 down and 388 up

Yup that's exactly what I'm experiencing. Then the higher speeds will gradually fade away over 1 or 2 days. Are you on CM6? I wonder if this happens with other ROMs. I guess we could rule out location and radio....

Hi, Ive searched all over the internet (and these forums) for an answer. I dont know if anyone has had a similar problem, or even better, a solution.
Ive had this problem since I was on an unmodded G1 using 1.5 Cupcake, then I rooted and have been using cyanogen roms since then, and the problem is still present. I am currently using CyanogenMod v4.1.11.1.
Whenever I recieve a notification as music is playing through headphones using the T-Mobile 3.5mm Adapter, The sound totally mutes, and doesnt come back whenever I get a phone call or a text message or if i continue playing music. (I use the default music player).
The only way to restore the sound is to reboot the phone, but if another notification arrives while headphones are plugged in (even when music isnt playing) the problem strikes again.
Any suggestions on how to solve this? Ive tried using programs like Volume Control and still havent been able to solve it... Any help would be appreciated, Thanks!
either try reflashing your radio, or i remember a long time ago, i think i heard about an app called ongoing music adapter that would help.
Thanks, but the app didnt work.
Im gonna try to flash the latest radio off the HTC website, (unless theres some modified radio someone can recommend?) but idk if thatll solve this problem because its been happening since before I rooted or modded my g1.
I tried reflashing the latest radio and still no help. Ive tried every possible app i could think of. I cant figure out why this is happening and its been driving me crazy! Anyone have anymore suggestions please?
maybe it is a ram issue and the phone.apk is causing it to kill your other apps which possibley are not reloading
i don't really know i am taking a random guess but who knows
well I have plenty of memory free on the internal phone storage: 44.78MB and 798MB free on my second partition on the SD card and 1.08GB on the primary.
Idk if im the only person whose has this issue before, because I cant find this scenario repeated anywhere online. Its been like this for as long as i can remember. Whenever headphones are plugged in and music or video is playing and I get a text, email, or notification of any sort (even in silent mode) all the sound disappears till i reboot the phone...i cant figure out the problem. Ive gone from the official Cupcake to all of CM Roms up to 4.1.11.1. Same issue
I flashed the latest radio today and I tried downloading an app called Loud Volume Hack and that didnt help either...any more suggestions? thanks for trying gridlock! i appreciate it!

your ram has nothing whatsoever to do with your memory card size or how much space you have
set yourself up a linux-swap partition
LOL omg that is hilarious
and @op
just disable sound notifications while listing to music
also, does this only happen with the 3.5mm adaptor or does it happen with the usb headphones as well
lol epic fail on my part. now that my n00bishness is exposed let me ask another n00bish question, is a linux swap different than apps2sd? because cyans roms already has apps2sd built in. My memory card has a FAT32 and ext2 partition but Ive read that swap is a 3rd partition? would i have to format my memory card to do this?
disabling sound notifications doesnt work it still happens regardless
and i never tried using usb headphones, im gonna try that, i only used the adapter.
btw sorry for the late reply, ive been busy and my desktop was messed up for a while.

I know this has been addressed before about the home button going crazy. It acts like it is getting pushed multiple times over and over. It mainly does this at random times and mostly when the phone has come out of sleep mode. Being that this is my 4th Cappy that I might be returning due to hardware issues. I am hesitant on returning because I am worried about getting a refurb with more serious issues. Every Captivate I seem to get has hardware issues.
I am wanting to put together a thread to figure out if this issue is due to changes in Kernel or if it is a true hardware issue that can not be fixed but maybe we can find a workaround.
I want to start finding out if there is a thresh-hold that can be adjusted on the button. Make the button not so sensitive to see if this effect will help anything.
Can this button be disabled altogether? Disable the home button and use the search button instead.
I never had this issue till I flashed a Froyo kernel. That is why I am skeptical on the hardware failure.
I think it's hardware issue, my first one has this issue, unroot and runs stock 2.1, exchanged and never see it goes crazy again.
Same problem here trying to find a fix, driving me crazy!!!
I just got my phone exchanged about 2 hrs ago. I've run TONS of tests on it, different ROM's, kernels, modems, bare ass stock.
Here's what I came up with. My phone was a 1007 series(2nd I believe)
The best, cleanest luck I had with it was for 1 solid week running Assonance 2.0 with Set's 1.4.3 1200 kernel, and JK3. BUT, I had to go back to stock, and it STILL did it, then with Axura 2, 2.1 and 2.2; still did it. Finally went back to stock JF6 no root, nothing sideloaded, and it still did it. I went into my local service center this afternoon actually for a different reason, my headphone jack stopped working totally. The techs had seen the button pressing before, and they are pretty sure it's a firmware issue.
I'd recommend going to your local service center and get a new device. I suspect that it will only get worse
Ive reflashed Axura about three times now. uninstalling apps (doing tibu restore every time) and the home button was still crazy, this last round did the usual odin3 back to stock, flashed axura, setiron kernal, and the jl3 modem but didnt tibu restore and everything is fine no more crazy home button still dont know what app was the problem but my phone is fixed... only bad part is manual app restore from market
I think I narrowed it down to sgstools had to reflash again after installing market fix and camera hack

The water resistance warning message keep coming up when I turn the phone on, I thought wiping the smart connect cache had solved it as someone said it was related, but its just made it slightly less regular if it did do anything (it will now happen around every other time I turn the phone on ) Is this a known glitch, and how do I solve it? Im using latest stock rom.
I know I could try telling selecting the option to never do it again but I want the warning to stay and I know its possible because I had the same stock rom only a couple of weeks ago and it worked perfectly - I dont understand why its suddenly acting up. Ive reset the phone twice, and repaired the phone 3 times (and deleted the folder with the files in each time to make sure it downloaded a new rom).
There also seems to be some problem with the initial NFC update screen as its taken me several reboots to get rid of that everytime.
Thanks

That's not a GLITCH or BUG. And yes it's smart connect app related
You tried to tick that box?

I can't seem to keep a consistent lock on GPS. Like, one moment I'll be fine, going thru turn by turns, then all the sudden for no real reason, "GPS Signal lost".. then it'll take like 5 minutes for it to come back. Sometimes it takes me forever to get it to lock in the first place, but if I make it thru a full 10 miles without losing GPS signal (regardless of ROM, I've tried Dynamicpop, TEKXodus, CM12), it's a bloody miracle. I've tried using fasterfix as well as a few other techniques but I've had more GPS issues with this phone than any other since the original Samsung Vibrant. Anyone have any ideas?
Screen shot your gps settings
Same thing happened to me. Odin stock firmware fixed mine.
Were you able to flash another rom and still get gps signal?
It annoying when they ask for help but never tell u the fix
Try topntp
Mines been better since I reset the agps data with the GPS status app. Not perfect but better lol. Still forgets to tell me to turn since it can't find where I am.

Here is my typical GPS lock after using Odin to return to stock, reroot, recovery, and then flashing a custom rom.
If I clean flash another custom rom without resetting with Odin, GPS is borked. I also will still lose GPS if I make a call while using navigation. A reboot is required to fix it.
I have had nothing but issues with the GPS for months now, every time it looks like it's working it all goes to **** again and never locks. I've left the GPS toolbox running next to me for an hour now and still not connected to even one sat and just says 0/12. I did the newest firmware and then rerooted back the moment I flashed a rom it all went stupid again.
Mine too. I have to wipe caches to get it working again. I think I'll be taking advantage of Jump very soon.

Redmi Note 9 4G
The phone reboots into Qualcomm 9008 mode after a non-artificial cause and requests a data rescue method
Simple description
My English is not very good, if the robot translation causes you to be unable to understand, please be sure to ask several times until you are clear
A friend recommended to me to go on XDA forum to try to ask the rescue method, I have not done anything bad, simply carry out the system application freeze, factory original system
In the early morning before the accident, the phone used everything normal, slept for about seven or eight hours, after getting up the phone is not smooth, at that time some applications can not be opened, but alipay Google play version, can be opened normally, play the small program components
After several checks, as well as connecting to a Windows 10 computer, the device manager showed Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM 3)
I really did not artificially want to enter the 9008 mode, the application freezes only for simple, de-advertising
Have not executed any adb, or adb into EDL commands
So I would like to ask you all if the data inside is still saved? What is the way to save it? And the data of phone calls and SMS are also very important

Question content
1、Is there any rescue for the data stored in the built-in storage, the data is only stored locally not on the cloud (important)
2、Do you have a suitable and reliable tutorial for successful brick rescue (important)
(not a thousand unreliable network hydrology, preferably their own / friends of reliable and feasible credibility of successful experience)
3, according to my complete description of these attempts to operate the evaluation, whether the phone is still saved
