I'm having trouble flashing back to JF6 after a failed JH7 OTA update.
I can't flash back to stock firmware after following a lot of the directions posted around the forum. Odin One Click is all bank when I click start and I immediately get "All threads completed 0/0" and nothing happens. I've tried several different orders of operations in regards to putting into downloading mode and connecting to the PC, etc.
Also, Odin3 does the same thing after selecting the PIT file and firmware from samfirmwares. I get the same message and nothing happens.
Is there a more specific guide someone can point me to or share some insight? Thanks in advance.

How are you using odin?
The process is the same for either ODIN one-click or ODIN3
Your phone MUST be in download mode.
You will get a black screen with a yellow triangle, saying "DOWNLOAD"
The process to get into download (works for me) is by powering off the phone.. odin must already be turned on in your computer. <<IF you are using win7, run it as admin... right-click then "Run as Administrator">>
With the phone powered off, press and hold both volume buttons, then plug in the USB cable to the phone. The cable must already be plugged in to the computer.
Next, start ODIN and wait for it to finish.
This should be a foolproof method.
I am having the same issue...
I followed the exact directions on the thread title '[STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader and Drivers CAPTIVATE ONLY 'and I get into "Download mode" but nothing happens. I click start on Odin (the one downloaded from that thread) and it *instantly* says <OSM> All threads complete. (succeed 0 / failed 0).
What am I doing wrong?
Samsung Captivate running 2.1 rooted with "the beast". I bricked it last night trying to get OTA gps "fix" notice to stop bugging me.
Any tips? Thanks!

What OS are you running on your computer? Is it win7? If it is, make sure you run ODIN as administrator. Also, is ODIN on prior to connecting phone to computer?
Try following these steps:
1. Plug in USB cable to computer
2. Turn on ODIN (run as administrator)
3. Turn off phone (not connected to anything)
4. Hold down both volume buttons on phone
5. Connect USB cable to phone while doing STEP4
6. Click start in ODIN
This should work. If you are using ODIN3 instead of one-click, then make sure to set .PIT and PDA files properly, and to click re-partition if you are trying to unbrick your phone
Thank you....
I'm using Win 7 64-bit.
I've tried on both ways, prior and after, just to see if either worked.
The version of Odin is Odin3excution v1.00 downloaded from the aforementioned thread. (yes execution is misspelled on the actual program).
I am running it as administrator using the right click, run as function.
I can't link anything because I'm a new user (BAH! ) but it says Odin3 One-Click Downloader on the top in black.
ALL the boxes are blank. Every thing is blank...thank you!

I did this and I do get into Download mode immediately, Odin3 One-Click Downloader just says <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0) instantly.
I'm guessing I need a different version of Odin? FWIW, the name of the actual file is I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0

I'm having the same issue. I'm on WinXP, SP2 (old computer, I know.) I'm normally a Mac user, this is the only PC I have.
I'm using the same Odin One Click version Drew stated, with all boxes blank. Perhaps a drivers issue?
look up the odin one-click thread and DL the appropriate drivers and try again
As soon as you get into download mode and connected odin should recognize your phone - is odin seeing your phone?
No, windows is a POS. I've downloaded so many different drivers and each time I get an error saying it failed. I've literally tried every Captivate 64 bit win 7 driver out there, I downloaded KIES and tried that too.
I'm *really* close to dumping windows and android and just going full Apple. I am so sick of this crap and I've always hated Apple products (almost to the point of being extreme) but...if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.
I've spent the better part of 2 days trying to get this to work and the main issue, from what I'm slowly finding out, is windows wont recognize the phone and keeps dumping it before it gets connected.
It's just really too much at this point. I can go buy *shudder* an iMac, an iPhone *double shudder* and I'll be up and running in 15 minutes.
F8ck this noise.
Try this link for 64bit windows drivers.
Before you install, go to control panel, and delete all previous drivers.
Reboot your computer once before re-installing the drivers above.

I'm pretty sure you won't need to install .net framework for Odin to work.
But if after drivers it still doesn't work, try installing .net framework 4.0 as well. You will need that installed to root anyways.

Nope, ODIN does not recognize my phone. I've tried it a few more times using the correct sequence and got nothing. Even reinstalled the drivers and rebooted the PC (without my phone connected).
Issue has been resolved. I tried it on a newer system running WinXP and got flashed back to stock with no problem... although the OTA update failed again.... but I've got the one-click version of that too.
Thanks for everyone's help!

Hey guys I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I just really need some help...
I just recently flashed my galaxy to JP6 and installed voodoo and everything was running fine. I then wanted to root my phone and tried Chainfires solution from here on this forum. It bricked my phone and I had to flash back to JM8.
I am now running JM8 but when I go to flash JP6 it says fail and wont let me?
I also tried flashing JMP and my phone screen went green halfway through and stopped flashing.
Any ideas why I cant flash to froyo anymore?
Is it because I still have voodoo installed?
If so how do I delete it? I've tried following th instructions from curios google page but I couldn't figure it out.
Any info on this would be greately appreiciated!
Thanks
Why post here?
Don't like Q&A subforum?
No, its not related to voodoo.
I think you need to reflash JM8 again with 513 pit and repart enabled. After that flash JPM. (I believe no-repartition, 513pit loaded, but not entirely sure)
I'm sorry, I'm only new here.
I've tried re flashing to JM8 and then trying to go to both JP6 and JM8 but both say fail at odin.
The error reads: "Can't open the serial (COM) port"
Does anyone know what that means?
Well if you EXACTLY follow the steps:
Leave USB disconnected, phone off.
Open odin, select options/files;
Start SGS in download mode;
Connect cable NOW.
Start flashing..
.. and still got this error... No, u just shouldnt get one. It might be ur pc configuration, but cant really tell now.

In download mode there's a "Samsung Android USB modem" driver that should be active. This is the COM port that Odin uses to talk to the phone. Look in the Device Manager and see if it's there. If it's not there, unplug the phone from USB, reboot your PC, then plug the phone in download mode into a different USB socket.
If the driver is there then some other software on the PC may be grabbing its COM port, especially software for other mobile phones like Motorola or Sony-Ericsson. Make sure anything like that is uninstalled.

Thanks heaps, I'm pretty sure it may be voodoo that is causing my problems when flashing firmwares.
Is there anyway that I can disable/ un-install vodoo from download mode?
I am trying to put my captivate back to at&t stock 2.1 but odin does not recognize my phone, when i put it in download mode with debugging on, nothing happens. What should I do?
Does one of the boxes turn yellow? If not, it doesn't see it. If it turns yellow and says com: (some number), hit start.
Also make sure you have the right drivers installed.
Sent from a place my wife doesn't know about (yet)
no it does not go yellow!
Try a diff usb port maybe a motherboard type. Try restarting both pc and phone.uninstall drivers reinstall. Let windows install for you?...also the way I do it...have odin open and ready...have usb connected to pc...phone off… vol up vol down ... then plug into usb cord.
You should see little android guy digging, inside a bright yellow triangle.
I usually put my battery back in phone as soon as this pops up. You won't have a chance later, as phone should rboot automatically as part of odin process.
Sent from a place my wife doesn't know about (yet)
I tried all that. I tried having odin open already as administrator, then put phone into download mode while plugged in and still nothing happens
When was the last restore point you made on your computer? If it was recent uninstall drivers, restore from an earlier point, rienstall drivers, and reboot. I had this same issue and this is the only thing that got it working.
unfortunately my computer recently crashed so i no longer have my restore. Is there any way I can apply yours or someone elses?
I'm pretty sure restore points are system specific. Do you have access to another pc? Try the whole process fresh. Sorry man that's about all I got.
What happens when yoyour not in ODIN and hook your phone to your computer? Does it recoginze it, can you transfer files? What does Device manager show it as?
Hi so I bought a used captivate off of ebay and tried to flash to stock (baseband was different) using the AIO tool but it was stuck and got bricked. I am now able to get into the download mode screen but I am not sure what to do next? If I use AIO again it says I need USB debugging mode so what do I do now?
Please help
USB debbugging is not need to use Odin. It just needs download mode (USB debugging is need to for master clear). And your are not bricked, your softbricked.

download Odin3 1 click. it will get you to stock without having to deal with the aio stuff. after it's downloaded, make sure it's running BEFORE you plug your phone to the computer. (phone should be in download mode). then click start and dont touch anything. advisable to to master clear after that. to master clear, phone is on and in debegging mode when plugged in.
Thanks for the replys, Ill try it. I was confused about the different types of Odin softwares but I will try that then.
Jackman, Odin one click is included in aio he just needs to ignore the USB debugging stuff.

speedy_11, I have tried the AIO one click and when i click start it reads
"<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0/ failed 0)"
I just downloaded the standalone oden executable and it is doing something when i press the start. I can see a progress bar on the phone so I have hope.
How long does odin 1click downloader usually take?
a few minutes make sure that it is connect to a usb that is directly connected to the motherboard
yes, I have it connected to my motherboard but the progress have been idle for the last ten minutes. the log message reads.
<ID:0/005> Added!!
<ID:0/005> Odin v.3 engine (ID:5)..
<ID:0/005> File analysis..
<ID:0/005> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/005> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
It has been like that for a while now
Try aging sometimes mine gets stuck like that. take out the battery and go back into download. and have Odin open before like jack man said.
I retried and it got stuck a little further than last time. I think I will keep retrying.
What does the master clear button do? the Original Odin 1 click states how to use it but doesn't explain what it is.
Thanks again for the help.
Thanks alot speedy and jack. I got it to finanally go stock. Had to try over half a dozen time. and worked the minute i switched a usb port.
it deletes everything off your phone, but your phone needs to be on and have usb debugging on to work. Are you using a Samsung data cable?
Try using the odin one click back to stock by designgears in the development section

I hope i have this in the right place....
I have recently successfully flashed odin one click to KJ3 stock with GB bootloaders and now when i have the debugging mode checked green and plug into the PC, it does not go into debugging mode.....
Im using samsung data cable and from the looks and feel of everything the entire phone is working just fine except for the debugging part....
Do i need to re-flash again back to a different rom all together?
Also one last question if you guys don't mind....i lost root when i moved from Froyo 2.2 KB2 to GB 2.3.5 Kj3.....can i use the same root method as i did with the Froyo?
For the debugging issue, try turning off the debugging, then go back to USB settings and select Mass storage, back out and turn on debugging. Now connect to ur computer and see if that helps.
For root, use the FuguRoot Mod or just use Heimdall or Odin to flash a Kernel (one of at least the kj3 base that u r on) that has Root baked in. Or just use SuperOneClick.
Sent by XDA Premium App
grrr
tried the mass storage thing and still nothing....
Also i found the KJ3 Boog kernel w/CWM...however i still need to wait til i get the debugging issue sorted out....grrr
Not 100% sure but i dont think i need to set my phone to Kies then debugging right?
your phone has to be unplugged for you to enter debugging mode, so no, kies mode is not required.
so wait, what exactly is your issue now? debugging mode doesnt work, right?
how are you confirming that it does not work?
Correct "Bloodskin": Debugging mode doesn't show up in status bar like it used to. (it used to give me the choice after plugging into PC between selecting "Debugging Mode" OR "USB Connection") I generally leave the USB setting on "Mass Storage" while also having the "Debugging Mode" checked
Now even with all of the "mentioned" possibilities that have now been explored...still no option shows up for me to select actual "Debugging Mode"
I have noticed that "Download Mode" is working equally as would "Debugging Mode" (only used when flashing .tar files via Odin)
I have gotten around this issue but it still stands that the Debugging option does not show up in the status bar after plugging into the PC. So there is no rush on finding the cause...(just simply confused is all lol)
Thank you in advance for everything thus far and still to come if any...?!

I think I'm catching on to the issue; if I'm way off please forgive me.
USB debugging shows up in the status bar, but it is not something you select. It is just a notification that lets you know that it is on. A lot of custom ROMs turn the notification off because most of us just leave it on all the time, so it's annoying to have the notification any time the USB cord is plugged in. If you do click it, it just takes you to the development menu where you can turn it off. Unless you're trying to turn it off, selecting debugging from the notification bar isn't necessary, since if you have the notification debugging is already on.
Under settings / applications / development, is the USB Debugging box checked? If it is, debugging mode should be active. Depending on the ROM, there may or may not be an icon in the status bar. Have you tried using ADB without the icon to verify whether it is in fact working?
Ahh yes you are right "3" ...right on the money!!!
that makes perfect sense..and yes it is always checked for me. Like you said we tend to leave it on all the time. Although i have not tried to see if it is actually working or not i truly believe you will be correct. Headed home now and will check when i get there.
Adam...thank you!! lookin forward to you guys next release of andromedas full package.
Ty both for your time with me!

Hello,
Recently when I was in Downloading mode, I was appalled by the message "USB device not recognized", and Odin did not go yellow.
I solved the problem this way:
1. I closed Odin and opened it again
2. pulled out phone battery and inserted it back
3. entered the phone into downloading mode
4. plugged usb cable into computer first
5. then plugged the cable into the phone
No "USB device not recognized" message appeared and Odin went yellow.

Hi There,
You should reinstall the drivers or update them and you should swap Odin version. If still no progress then let me know. And do you choose the correct pit or ops file of your Device.
If all This Fails then try this:
*Unplug the Battery.
*Insert the Usb To Pc attached to your phone Without Battery inserted.
*Insert Battery And go To Download Mode. N try flashing it.

Well it seems to me that this thread has been posted by you that you are getting error of not being recognising of your device in odin.
