[Q] - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone please tell me how to re-root my captivate. I have Froyo upgrade but my usb to computer wont allow me to access my phones internal memory.

1- How about you actually put a thread title
2- You should search the Dev section since this is your first post
3- You should search the Dev section since that is where the info is to root your phone
4- You didn't forget to check usb debugging did you?
5- Return to stock and re-flash 2.2

It would be nice if the admins forced new users to actually read all the rules before they do this.
Rules you should follow:
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
And most importantly.......
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

[Q] Q: Back to stock?

So I know XDA is full of answers to this one, but it seems everyone either has some snarky comment like, "they won't check' or whatever. There are also some ok answers and tuts but some of it's confusing and a lot of the threads go off topic. So i'd like to ask, how do i get my phone back to stock? i have to mail my device back in for a warranty exchange as the speakers and camera stopped working suddenly.
My device is stock rooted, odex rom w/ TWRP. unlocked bootloader. Super CID and S-off. Tampered message gone in boot loader. My laptop runs Windows 8, which I'm having an issue getting the HTC manager to stay open for some reason, even after an uninstall/ reinstall of the manager and drivers. The drivers themselves seemed to have installed fine as my device is recognized as "my HTC" though when in fastboot, my comp will tell me the device is unrecognized. Using the stock usb plug that came with my phone and I've plugged in to both usb 3.0 and 2.0 ports. And yes, I do have ADB in the root of my computer, though I'm wondering if i need a different type of ADB since this is the one i used with windows 7 a while back..or does it matter?
I'd like to get things back to stock as much as possible and would be very appreciative. Thanks!
If you know there are answers why not use the search function and find them? There is a thorough guide made by mike1986 so I suggest you find that and go from there...

Thank you very much.
Edit: so I downloaded Android sdk to this comp but something isn't working right? Should i have gotten the one in the "other platforms" list? The one i downloaded didn't say it's was Windows 8 compatible, however the DL in the other list is not OS specific, just says it's for Widows 32 or 64 bit.

Why are you talking? This is a troubleshooting forum. Not a "go ahead and ask a question and maybe we'll be nice about giving you an answer forum".

I'm afraid you're wrong. Rule 1 from the forum Rules:
"1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Basically, search first. Chances are it has already been asked and answered - as proven in gee2012's post...
Reading your OP would indicate you know the answer is out there but can't be bothered to search - hence my first reply

Learn to read an comprehend. Obviously when I said I know i can search, then gave an indication of what was found, then that means I did search, and of course, that's what i found. But instead, you prefer to go the route that i also indicated, and chose to be snarky and rude, rather than just no answer the question at all. But thank you very much for wasting your time and mine by being as such.
Easy method: flash RUU and use revone to relock and
fastboot oem writesecureflag 3
More tricky
adb getvar version-main
Post answer here.

Thing is, though, I did answer your question. mike1986 has a thorough guide on how to go back to stock so searching for that would've given you the answers you required

Q&A for [TUT] Developer Unlock WP Devices (MaxUnsignedApp = 10)
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.

2 qestions
Good morning. First thank you for the tutorial. I have 2 questions:
The phone must have internet access to complete the process?
The program runs fine until I show you a form with two text fields in the first can enter text and the second is a field to enter key. That is exactly what is entered on this form ?.
Greetings.
Here is a link, maybe it is of some use to you.

Good morning. A question for you that you'd unlocked the phone. When did the process, your phone was connected to the Internet ?. You need to have it ?.

Tried every combination of drivers and software - No Avail!
Hello everyone,
I've been following this forum for quite some time now and here's my first post
I just can't get this to work.
I've tried different drivers and different versions of the software (4.2; 4.3.3; 4.4.4; 4.4.6; 4.4.9; 4.5; 4.6) and it always shows the same error (of which I attached a screenshot).
What does it say and how can I resolve it?
Funny thing is, if I disconnect my PC from the Internet before starting the program and connecting the phone, I always get the blue Button and no error.
I tried clicking it and then quickly re-connecting to the internet (also the other way around). In some versions of the software it shows the "phone not connected" screen as soon as I enable the internet connection.
On other versions it shows the "unlocking in progress" screen for ever. And in yet other versions the "Developer Unlock" screen shows up (where you can enter your Live-ID and pw and then get the ability to sideload 2 apps).
So what am I doing wrong? Date and time are matching on both devices.
And what does the red error say?
Please help, any pointing to the right direction is much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Just forget it.
No one has ever bothered to give a propper translation.
Or explaned what it realy does in your phone.
If you have a sd card, try the swaptrick,
otherwise settle for two apps for sideloading.

Trouble Unlocking the Bootloader - LG Optimus - With the objective of rooting.

Hi there,
I of course have an LG Optimus 4 XD, P880. My objective is to root the phone.
I have tried Kingoroot = Fail, not compatible with Framaroot, I searched on google and youtube and found an article on unlocking the bootloader using the classic ADB and Fastboot method:
I tried that method, opened the command prompt typed in " adb reboot bootloader" --->> All that did was reboot the phone into normal mode.
I then proceeded to type in "fastboot oem unlock" and then it just hangs for eternity with the line "waiting for device":
Quote:

'fastbootoem' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

As you can tell it does detect the phone.
I am currently running Android 4.03.
What should I do?

[CLOSED] Phone restarting after pattern unlock

Hi all, i really need help with the problem I have.
I've just replaced my broken screen (with frame).
However, the phone keep restarting itself once I've unlocked it using the pattern.
I heard wiping/factory reset will fix this, before I wipe the data, I really need to save all the data inside....I can't use USB debugger since I can't even unlock the screen to choose the usb debugging option.
What if I install TWRP via fastboot then flash other ROM, will this save my data?
Really appreciate the helps, thank you very much.
