cant open apps - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First of all, I tried to search, and google for this problem, but couldn't find the solution, so here it is..... I rooted my phone. Installed Froyo 2.2 OS. Today I tried to download the beta mozilla firefox from their site mozilla [dot]com/en-US/m/beta, and after I downloaded, i tried to install, and got the following error message. for security your phone is set to block installation of applications not obtained from android market. When I googled this error, I came across that the Service Provider is blocking it. I rooted initially, so shouldn't I be free? Or do I have to root the phone again after installing Froyo 2.2? I'd appreciate all the help. Thank you!

i think i might've found the solution, that the phone needs to be rooted again. the link where i found is forum.xda-developers[dot]/showthread.php?t=797397[/url] it says "Browse to contents from cmd/terminal". How do i get there? Is it pressing vol buttons, and pressing the power button at the same time?

You need to allow access for third party apps to be installed.

[Q] Unlock issue(galaxy S I9000)

I need some serious help guys. I've been trying to unlock my phone for about 2 days and until today I wasn't able to connect to my computer(had the wrong cord). Now I have successfully rooted my phone but am unable to get the apps I need because I can't access the android market place. The reason I can't is because the phone is locked to bell and I purchased it from a friend and now need to unlock it so that I can use it on telus. Really stuck here. I've been using this video as a guide but once the galaxy unlock apps show up, I am unable to continue because I haven't found a way to get them on my phone!! Please help... many thanks..... I realize now I can't post the link but it is called "Unlock Samsung Galaxy S from stock Android 2.2 Froyo". I found it on this site.
Very confusing here.
Unlocking is not related to the connection on your pc.
So what you have to do.
Root your phone with a kernel (CF root) or another kernel.
Then you will get access to the superuser (root)
Only with that you are able to unlock you phone with a special app.
Access to market you will also get trough wlan. Or you have to load you apkĀ“s directly from you computer to the sgs.
Read the manual if it will not work or read xda.. (kies, usb probklems ect..)
Okay, so I used superoneclick to root my phone. I now have superuser available on my phone now. My real issue is accessing the app that unlocks the phone because I am unable to access the market. The reason I can't access the market is because the phone itself has no data services and is not currently on a network(although it is locked to Bell).
I guess what I need to know is how to load the apk directly from my computer to my phone.. and how do I get the apk's without having a google account connected to the sgs? Thanks for the response
Have you tried to use WiFi?
Yea, I have... I'm unable to access any internet or data through the phone!
Give me your email and i can send you the apk.
But to be honest. I'm sure you will find that on google
sent from my SGS via SamsungTapTalk

[Q] Play Store not working (Tried each and every solution)

I have a galaxy s3 mini. I have faced an issue which is not common. My Play Store gives me "No connection - Retry" error. I searched every forum, every possible solution on the internet, I tried them all but no luck.
I have even rooted it, installed CWM, changed the ROM, but still no luck.
I edited the hosts file as mentioned on different forums, but the thing is my hosts file "only shows this by default '127.0.0.1 localhost'", there is no second line of ip address or anything. I tried adding it manually and added the "#" sign but no luck.
If any one out there could help me, I'd be really grateful.

No I don't have freedom installed. I have installed the stock ROM again. But the phone is still rooted. So if there is a solution, I would be glad to hear it. My phone is useless without Play Store. I cannot update any application or anything.
Install Lucky Patcher. Go to --> Toolbox --> Install the Modded Google Play Store. Choose your version of original play store.

[Q] Undo complete unroot so I can root again/remove roo completely...? help...

I have a Galaxy S3 mini GT-I8190L running android version 4.1.2, I rooted it using odin like a year 1/2 ago, but eversince I haven't been able to use the playstore, everytime I open it, it asks me to add a google account or to create a new one, both options lead to the same error message, "Couldn't sing in, can't establish a reliable connection to the server, blah blah" (I obviously have a working internet connection), I did some googling and apparently that's because I need to update it, but I can't receive any software updates because when I go to settings > about device> software update > update it shows "your device has been modified, blah blah", and I figured "it's because I'm rooted, oh well let's unroot", so I went to the SU app and hit "full unroot" (after some googling apparently that's the easiest way to unroot) and then I rebooted the device, still get the same message about being modified, so I'm stuck, can't use any rooted apps now, still can't use the store, still can't update, I'm a little frustraded and a little scared too because I don't know much about this and I really don't want to brick my phone without having a titanium backup.
Any help at all I'd aprecciate it, thanks in advance.

[Q] How to delete/remove downloaded update data

Looking to find a way to delete the update data for w10TP. Accidentally hit the download button when trying to click details to see the version that the update was trying to install. IT says i have till june 14th by 3am or it will install automatically.
IS there anyway to remove the data before it forces the update without hard resetting?Or is there a way to load up the internal storage so that the update can install even though has been downloaded?
I have a lumia 1520, and most tools i have to the root tool app installed.
Checked and searched google and the forum but couldn't find an answer.
Any help at all would be appreciated greatly. Or if anyone knows if that automatic install really happens?
Just don't,want,to,have to hard reset if don't have to. Trying not to loose some apps no longer published in the windows store.

HTC Desire 626 Apps Not Working, Recovery Not Recovering, Giving Me A Real Headache

Hi all,
This is my first post so if something is wrong please let me know.
So a few months ago I wanted to root my HTC Desire 626 but struggled due to KingRoot not supporting my phone, and there not being many guides online. I unlocked my bootloader via HTCDev and eventually gave up on the rest of it (I'm a Windows guy!).
2 days ago I installed CM Launcher 3D Pro (which I paid around $5 for on Google Play). After noticing the app was using too much CPU I removed the app and went back to my original Sense Home launcher. Later that day my battery died and when I charged the device and switched it back on everything went very bad, very quickly.
I had constant "xxxxx has stopped working unexpectedly" errors which mainly related to Google apps, such as Google Play, Calendar etc. I downloaded as many Google APKs as I could find for the apps that were throwing errors and copied them to install to my device manually. This seemed to fix a lot of the problems and I no longer get any error dialogs show up on the phone.
However now Google Play will not load (at all, it just has a white screen). Google Maps doesn't load either, and I get a constant notification telling me to update Google Play Services, with a side note saying Google Play Services won't run unless I update to the latest version. That would be fine if I could actually get to Google Play to update the thing As I said Google Play will not load up at all. Hence now I can't install anything from the play store (using the browser version to send the app to my device doesn't work either).
I've tried running recovery both via entering the bootloader and using Settings > Backup and reset > Reset phone and nothing works. Using settings doesn't respond when I tap OK, it just goes back to the previous screen, and using the bootloader just hangs on the HTC splash logo until I perform a hard reboot (holding the power button for 30 seconds).
Also Google Sync doesn't work, and when I try to remove my Google account or add a new account it doesn't work either.
What I need is a way to return to stock, the RUU files for my particular device via HTC don't work either, and in bootloader mode I don't see any options (either via fastboot or HBoot) to install a rom from a zip file, so I can't grab the rom zip file from a RUU by copying it from the temp directory on Windows. The reason I think the RUU files don't work is because my phone doesn't have a particular provider. I purchased the phone from Littlewoods here in the UK which was sim free (unlocked).
Is there anyone who has a stock rom and a way I can install it via ADB or Fastboot? I know I can flash the recovery via Fastboot with "fastboot flash recovery myfile.img" but when I try that with any recovery file the recovery still just hangs when I try to use it.
Any help is appreciated (before I take a hammer to it or use it as a YouTube experiment with liquid nitrogen or something).
Thanks in advance.
