I'm guessing no because I can't really find anyone talking about it. I don't really want to clean up the mess if it definitely won't work, so can anyone tell me if it will work? I can live without the front camera if I get a smooth lag free experience.

not yet, not until they make it cross model compatible

There's really not to many people that have the milestone on AT&T, and for good reason. My AT&T contract was too cheap to let myself go to Verizon, so I bought an unlocked Telus on eBay.
Anyway - what can I do or install as far as MotoFrenzy, Eclair, etc? What limitations does the Telus Milestone or AT&T network have for these mods in this forum? Thanks for anyone who can clarify a little for me, much much appreciated.
Everything.
Just install de Telus hack via OR.
the milestone has 99% freedom. The only thing that's un-editable is the base kernel itself. Other than that, EVERYTHING is open to modding. So dont let nay-sayers shun you away... im more than happy with my milestone.
MY SETUP:
-TelusLite v5
-Overclocked @ 1GHz
-Resolution Mod (EclairMod add-in)
-MemHack
-JIT-Beta
-Flash for 2.1
-Kernel Memory Mod (custom)
-Audio Mod (custom)
-Launcher Pro [paid]
so yeah everything in the phone is editable one way or another. Even cyanogen has be ported over for us to use.. I really dont get why people run and hide from this phone. Its overly-simple to mod and easy to fix if you screw up a test-mod.

They ran and hid because this phone has lots of issues. I also have a Telus one on AT&T.
Until very recently, we were stuck with 2.1 or a 2.1 kernel. You couldn't even load custom ROMs for quite some time after it came out. Once that was possible, it was already starting to look a little outdated. The CM port with the 2.1 kernel was pretty buggy and crashy for me. Even stock 2.1 liked to reboot and play music randomly.
I no longer use the phone and gave it to my sister. I have put the CM6 port from 10/20 on it. I will see what she thinks of the stability now.
Can I ask what the audio mod is?
I tried a bunch of ROMs in the past, and always found things i didn't like, but I am tired of the size of the screen on the Bravo, and i want to give the Captivate one more try; here is what i am looking for:
1. Stable
2. Americanized
3. No FFC stuff
4. Good sound/voice quality
5. BT support (voice dial would be nice - even with vlingo)
6. Exchange Support
7. Decent battery
8. 2.2 or 2.2.1
9. Good data
I don't need HSUPA, I don't want Overclocked or Undervolted
I don't need any unusual freq bands or even GPS tweaks... the phone works fine on 2.1 - i just want some of the 2.2 goodies.
I would love to do without voodoo - but that is samsungs bad choice
Anyone have any suggestions that meet all my criteria? If so, any caveats to your suggestions?
Thanks for any help!
I love the new Darkyy ROM from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942046
It's the best ROM ever.. Screenshots show an amaaazing battery life and it is 2.2.1
i am using Phoenix 3.5 + SpeeMod latest kernel + modified themes by myself.
I also updated the modified service.jar to enable the button light and the browser fixes.
So far, have not found any issues ...

You can't trust the Rom just by looking at screenshots, because Darky's is infamous for having a bunch of bugs. Not hating on Darky's rom because it is a great Rom, but if you want stability go for pheonix. It's Mega stable and is a good all around rom.
Andromeda I keep coming back to it.

You will get 10 different answers from 10 different people, and all are correct in their own way. Best way to find out is to try them
Your best bet is to try a few roms and stick with the one you like best. Most of the custom roms are good but to ask for something that has no issues when they are being built off a port and not Captivate source code is a bit of a stretch. There are no promises with custom roms, that is just the way it is.
Hi!! I would like to know which one version of Android you think is "better" for now in Captivate! ***SYMPLY GALAXY S ll (newest)*** or ***Cognition (newest)*** ?? Those are the ones I like the most, if you wanna add more options, Do it! But the point is....Gingerbread or Froyo?
Which one is faster, nicer, better, etc etc... for you?? Why??

As for froyo or gb I think its obvious that gb wins the race by far being superior to its dying predecessor.Allthough I've tried only 2 gb roms both were great,I just happend to like Mosaic rom theams better. Both Continuum and Mosaic are very stable and smooth, jvh and jvo fixed lota previous jvb issues and the kernels are making great progress as well,in fact talon and xcal's latest could be called final editions.Gb is getting a even newer update 2.3.4 were froyo will be left in the dust i'm guessing(only cog is being updated nicely)Gps doesnt need no fix on gb outa box ,it locks and tracks great vs froyos cpl roms still strugle.Looks I think are you to decide which u like better, read through the themes section of roms and c for yourself.I was afraid as well be4 the switch but I'm glad I went for gb.
I'm actually suprised this thread has lasted this long without being closed. This debate has gone on NUMEROUS times and there are several threads on it. I'd suggest you search and see which one you think is better/safer.
First, I would like to thank Urabewe for all of his hard work in getting this ROM out here for our use. I feel it certainly does move faster than Thriller v1.1.0, but it's truly too soon to tell. I haven't dumped all of my apps onto the phone yet since flashing my Thrill 4G to this ROM.
Now I do have a concern with the current version of Froyo. One thing I liked about Thriller is that I was able to remove screens that I was not using, and I could also rearrange them with ease. I have not found a way to do this with Froyo. Is there a way to do it that I am just overlooking?
This n00b appreciates your help!
A friend who is less of a n00b told me that Froyo is older than Gingerbread so that is why he has never used it himself. So I am guessing it is just a limitation.

its not a feature of a specific version of android but of the launcher you are using... i cant remember what launcher thriller comes with but it isnt stock so you have bunch of cool features like removing and managing screens.. try a different launcher like adw or launcher pro from the market and you will get these features back
Is Doomed really faster than Thriller?
Is it as stable?

Hello, I'm completely new to android so I figured I'd post a question here for some direct help.
I'm about to get the Galaxy S pretty soon and since I want to get the most out of it, I wanted to ask what custom ROM, kernel and modem I should get?
I have no clue about the advantages of each of the various custom ROMs available compared to each other, and the only thing I really know is that I definitely must have Voodoo Sound (I'm very big on audio which is why I'm getting the Galaxy S). I don't really care much for overclocking since I doubt I'd use it for anything particularly intensive (not really going to game on it), so that doesn't matter to me. I'm just looking for a smooth and lag-free (as much as possible) experience.
If there are other add-ons (not sure what they're called) that are recommended and useful, it'd be great to be hear them too; anything to make it better. I've never rooted before either, so I will read around the forums to learn anything I can, but thank you in advance for any help!
I dont even own this phone but im pretty sure most people will say
Best rom?
There isnt one, its all based on what you want Eg Speed, performace, battery life,
i you need avcrp 1.3 (song info on bt device ) then a Asop rom.
If you dont need it and if you dont need ics then i would say darkys rom 1.4.2
