Read the other threads on this problem but none relate specifically to the samsung galaxy s, and there is nothing relating to handcent in /data as suggested.
I also did a search with Astro for handcent and it returned nothing. I just keep getting not enough space error, all other apps install fine.
This thread says http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=667049 they solved problem by uninstalling via adb but as the one of the posters says, I dont know how to do this.
Please help.
Many Thanks

I noticed a couple of days ago that people claimed to have sent me messages (sms), but I had not noticed. Turns out that when I try to launch the Messaging application, it pops up "Sorry! The application Messaging (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." I have no idea really when this started happening.
So I installed GO SMS, and it works fine, but still - whenever I get an sms, up pops the above error and it stays there for a while before disappearing. I wanted to find out what was going on, so I used adb to log what's going on when the Messaging app is launched. The log is attached.
The interesting lines, as I can see it are:
java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to create application com.android.mms.MmsApp: android.view.InflateException: Binary XML file line #230: Error inflating class com.lge.mms.wapservice.WapServiceMessageCheckBoxPreference
and
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.lge.mms.wapservice.WapServiceMessageCheckBoxPreference in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/system/app/Mms.apk]
So I now wonder if there's something wrong with /system/app/Mms.apk, it looks like this using adb shell...
$ adb shell ls -l /system/app/Mms.apk
-rw-r--r-- root root 1722767 2011-04-16 09:01 Mms.apk
Any hints on how to get the Messaging app running again?
PS - GO SMS let me backup my old SMSes, but how do I recover them?
do you use the stock rom ?
do you have rooted your phone?
do you have root explorer?
Try repairing permissions from the latest clockwork recovery
Stock ROM yes, not rooted.
Clockwork recovery? Will look that up.
I ended up doing a factory reset, and now everything is fine.

Moving to Q&A
I have a rooted samsung fascinate, with stock rom/kernal..
Anywho I was playin around with installing some apps and I wanted to install the free version of Printershare, but instead of getting it from the market I used an APK file to install it from my sd card. Well the file appears to have been corrupted, so I attempted to uninstall it through root explorer, as well as remove all traces of the program. When I went to reinstall the program from the APP market, I now get the error "Installation Failed.. Update Incompatible." I searched around to figure out what that meant and in the process I noticed that the com.dynamixsoftware.printershare package was still listed in my manage apps section, but I am not able to uninstall it from there. I searched for it in root explorer but like I said I deleted all traces of printershare before so i didnt find it there. If anybody can help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated!! THX!
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section I'm new to XDA
Try downloading Titanium Backup from the market. There is a free version and it should take care of your problem. If not, some others have recommended a program simply called Installer for Root.
Hello!
Short: I f'd up my camera software, what should I do?
Long:
Data:
Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000
Android 2.2.1 FROYO
Rooted
Pre:
QR code scanners gave a black camera screen and Zombie Booth crashed if I wanted to take a picture with it.
Ive read some things about this, and tried to fix it with a fresh camera.apk and camerafirmwire.apk.
Problem:
Backed up camera and camerafirmwire with TitaniumBackup and uninstalled it with this same program.
I loaded the downloaded fresh apks on my phone and tried to install.
Installation failed.
I tried to replace the apks with ES File Explorer (root). In the system/app direction. My camera app is still not back, installation still fails (from within download and the replaced apks in system/app).
Now I try to restore my files from within TitaniumBackup, it does not exactly crash but it just says restoring the apk forever, it doesnt actually let me install it.
Tried:
Ive searched around a bit, I have not found anything which resembles my problem, Ive seen someone point at SD Maid, Ive tried this, Ive cleaned the files for camera and camerafirmwire. The delete works. After this when I attempt an install it tells me the install fails, but some data is written to sdcard, when I open up SD Maid again, this is seen as dead data and I can remove it again.
The camera does not seem to be working any more, under any program, Ive tried Camera360, but it crashes on startup.
Thank you in advance for reading my thread, I hope you can help me.
Any advice welcome, as I am a noob, as detailed as possible (or links to guides, which I should follow).
I hope it does not come down to a reset/wipe of my phone.
Ive had to do the factory reset once already, it was a real pain.
Thanks in advance,
Toek.
Bumpybump?
So my father's Galaxy Tab which is rooted and has CWM recovery keeps getting pop-ups complaining that the internal memory is full and there's a constant message about it in the status bar. I think it's a system app complaining. Started after rooting and installing CWM instantly after so I'm not sure what caused it.
Any ideas? Couldn't find anything about it in the issue thread.
It can be that maybe a program or addon is written wrongly and consuming too much memory. Try to install several analyzer applications and check what is consuming and how much memory.
Try to trace back when this problem first happened... After updating which program? CWM or other?
Maybe temporarily try to uninstall CWM and see if pop up messages still appears. If not you know that CWM causing it.
I have a similar problem, and i discover the trouble maker is yahoo mess apk. I unistaled and reinstaled from the market and the problem was solved for me.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I have a galaxy note, just bought it, and when I loaded my message backup from go SMS, all was fine. But it takes forever to load messages. So I decided to delete some message threads since I have over 15,000 messages. Once the option to delete is selected, the phone must hangs though. Taking forever. Small threads and big both. I even tried loading the stock messaging app and trying to delete them, and same problem. Is there a way to just delete the main message file in a file manager? Just to clean all messages out?
Wrong thread?!
