I'm just curious about these sense roms out right now. I run cm6 but i"m wanting to run a sense rom until the wildfire 2.2 port is ready for everyday use. I tried zenfx but it doesnt support live wallpapers. Now I realize lwp's don't run very well due to our processer but some do. What I am tryin to get at is I am trying to find a sense rom with the new .7 update that runs lwp's and apps 2 sd. Iam having a difficult time finding one. now i can run zenfx with .7 update but is there a flashable zip to give you lwp's ? Or a rom in which these are included. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
check out dangerrom2.1 he has a flashable zip for lwp.
link to DangerRom
link to lwp.zip
I appreciate it but it says that is for cellular south. I know the rom would be
compatible but would'nt the network settings be different since I'm on Sprint. Also I wonder if the flashable zip would work for that new zen fx . The reason I say that is I was trying to get a rom based off the new htc update from a week ago. I found plenty of them they just don't offer live wallpaper.

the network settings should be fine. i am a cellular south customer and i have used the sprint based roms, just had to get the sprint carrier name off of the lockscreen and notifications tray. (pretty easy search for eri.xml)
just to be safe i wouldn't flash the radio. but i think that you can just flash the LWP.zip without the whole rom. make a nandroid backup and try it, what have you got to lose?
Here is a quality sense rom. This is my sense rom of choice. Has everything you're looking for.

Hey guys so ive got one of the Rogers dream phones,.I was wondering if it is possible to flash one of the themes (meteamorph)? The reason I ask is that these phones are EBI1 not EBI0 like the tmobile ones.
Being ebi1 makes it so that not everything is compatible, an example of this is the cyanogen rom, it is not compatible with out a special kernel for our phones.
Once again, are the metamorphosis themes compatible with our ebi1 phones?
I am in the exact same boat lol my provider is fido and I use the latest cyanogen on my rooted ebi1 rogers dream I jus thought that this was a funny coincidence oh and obviously I'm in canada ps . I reall would like it if brian the god who makes our cyanogen port files, ported the 10mb ram hack
Themes are all good. I've used the ones from the cm updater with no issues. I also tried some meteamorphs a while ago with no issues. I think there is an issue with meteamorph on the latest cyanogen thoe. not 100% sure
To the first poster, yeah that would be great because we can't get dwangs fast rom on ebi1. Do you know if anyone has asked him to port it?

Where can I get cm updater from? I didn't find it on the market. And am I correct in thinking that the cm updater does more than just update cyanogen roms?
EDIT ive found it and see that it can update the cm aswell as use themes. I still need an answer to my post after this one.
I am wondering if it is safe to use cm updater to update our phones because we require the special kernal to use cm. Do we need to apply a kernal everytime, does it do it for us, or do we do it ourselves. (This is regarding updating the cm itself not the theme)
Hey guys, so I am still waiting for a response regarding my above post but in addition I would like to say that I now have a theme using cm updater. I downloased the first one in the recommened list. I was wondering what the difference between advance and regular launcher. There where two options for this theme one with regular other with advanced. I chose regular because I don't know what a lanucher is.
i have heard that people have asked him but he hasnet responded with a definitive answer

You just need to add the bcrook Kernel as a theme. Follow the directions in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592377
To Update:
1. Themes > Menu > Check Now
2. Select the newest bc-ebi1 file from the theme section
3. Click on it and download it, choose Apply Later when finished.
4. Download the newest Cyanogen ROM from the ROM section. Choose Apply Now.
This will reboot to recovery and flash the newest cyanogenmod. Then apply the previously downloaded port file.
Enjoy!
Thanks for the link andanswer, that will come in handy.
Another question I have is what's the difference between advanced and regular launcher?
You can look at the thread for advanced laucher and see the differences. Folders, change the number of home screens and more.
hmm i have a rogers dream and ive never had problems with themes, cm updater or anything. also ive never had to install any "special" kernel for any rom ive put on my phone.
im pretty sure i used the "rogers one touch root" guide in the dev forum when i originally rooted my phone.
is there a difference between the old and new rogers dreams? or are all this ebi1??
I use the enoch theme and it works great and looks even better. I think that most roms don't touch the kernel so they should be fine.

There is a difference but it isn't with the radio (ebi1 vs ebi0) its with the spl. It just requires the one click root to get around. You must have used haykuro's method to root which switches your radio to EBI0 making it compatible with any rom for the G1.

ahh makes sense, i used haykuro's method. thanks for the clarification.
hey i am using the binary something theme. When on the old Cyanogen rom it had the same theme but with the lockscreen, when updating to the latest CM rom i dont see the lock screen version anymore. (i am using CM updater)
Ok so I am now using the enoch theme, I like the blue accent and the transparent design to show more background. One thing that I miss is the lock screen, CM updater doesn't show any option for installing a enoch lockscreen. Is there any way to get a lockscreen? Also can I use any lockscreen even if it is not enoch? (Cm updater shows no lockscreens anyway)
Does the latest CM rom 12.2 not support any lockscreens yet? Or do I just need to add more sorces for themes in cm updater? If so could someone guide me into doing that.
could someone please answer as to can I use any lockscreen? and how can i get this done with cm updater?
ok so my friend has a droid flashed to cricket with 2.1 cupcake, and he wants 2.2 froyo, can i just flash a rom with rom manager like i would regularly or do i have to do other things since hes on cricket?
really no one can answer this??????????
There are a lot of tutorials out on how to setup a droid on cricket. You can use just about any rom. I have used smoked glass, cyanogenmod, and bugless beast and lfy all on cricket. My favorite is Liquid Frozen Yogurt but am anxiously awaiting a good gingerbread rom. After you install the rom the main things you will need to setup is Autostart and apn settings for internet and mms and this also depends on the current plan and current setup. The main idea is to redirect your data via wap.mycricket.com if you are using a non android plan. For details use the search feature there are a few awesome members here that have made great step by step tutorials. Here is one that you can adapt to your needs. Keep in mind that the prl and evdo settings are probably already done since you are already on cricket and won't change when you install a new rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708937
after you installed the rom of your choice you can probably just start from the connect to wifi and install autostart and go down from there. as always make a backup of your droid first so if you mess it up you can go back if needed
thanks man
Hey guys I'm a noob and sprint decided to give me a hero do to my defective noment I took it over the intercept because of the support here on XDA and I've been lookin around and I like but my question remains what's the best rom for the cdma hero that will still allow the flasplayer to work any ideas or ways to keep makin it work. THANX
Unfortunately, full flash support can not be achieved. There's a light version out there, but I don't know how well it works.

I believe Nfinite's Roms have Flash Lite, and then using a browser like Skyfire gives additional flash support as it deals with it server side.
Use Nfinites rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849024 there and then do a search for Zen's Any Kernal with no Perflock. It makes it an extremely snappy Sense Rom. Only Sense has the Flash working, none of the AOSP roms do I believe.
Only downside is Nfinite is on Hiatus due to some personal stuff but he has popped back in and said he isn't gone, just dealing with it and plans to update again soon.
my replyo
ok thanx so fo example even I port the flash light apk (htc flash player) can I at least use that on the aosp rom or the cm 6 or does they need the sense to even aollow it to work ? I just want to be ready to root asap when the hero arrives tomorow
You cannot use those functions in an AOSP rom, has to be with sense.
Ok one last thing before I do this once I get my recovery going and I'm rooted of course I do a data wipe then apply a zip (rom) file correct and if I want to try other roms repeat the proscces. Right just want to make sure. That's how I would do it on my moment

Yes you would go to recovery, do a factory reset, wipe Dalvik, Cache, etc and then you can flash the new zip for the rom you wish to try.
Most roms will have a sort of guide or instructions, some have things specific to the rom being flashed, so make sure and read the full post, and maybe browse the thread for tidbits that users have had to say about the rom.

I am looking for stock 2.1 to put back on a Hero so that it can be programmed for a new user. (it currently has Fresh, and the programming - ##3282# does not work!)
So where can I find a flashable (not the RUU) 2.1?
Thanks for any help you can provide - a link would be great!
Look for liquid sense or nifinity stock based roms it's like 3 or 4 of them or look for the engery rom by pmgrands all of these are all sense based roms you can find in the hero/dev forum. Good luck
Yea it's Me Again With the
Modified Hero
Thanks - the problem is that Fresh is Sense-based too, and the ##3282# programming does not work on it.
Do you know is this works with the above mentioned ROMs?
Thx again.
Why don't you just run the RUU, activate the phone, and then root it again? Don't take it the wrong way, it's just a suggestion. I know I had a heck of a time trying to root my phone for the first time, but now that I have done it, I don't think I would have any problems doing it over again.

Should work with no problem is what I wanna say but the only way to make sure is to flash them for yourself. They should work though as they are newer builds. Good luck

You don't even have to unroot to activate the phone. Just flash any Sense rom and call Sprint. Cake and pie.

The problem is that the person with the phone is a newbie, and RUU is not working for some reason. Anyway I talked them through flashing the NFX-Sprint ROM so they got the damn thing programmed, and now they are back to Fresh.
(and to respond to laie1472, as I said above, the issue was that not every Sense ROM allows the programming, thus the question as to which work and whick do not...)
Thanks one and all.
So, I see that there is a 2.1 update for the HTC Hero CDMA from Sprint and I'm very interested in upgrading to be able to use some of the better software out there that doesn't work on 1.5.
The thing is, I finally managed to fix this phone from a bad rooting procedure (it's a used phone, the previous owner rooted it using who-knows-what method and ROM, which caused the wifi to stop working) after spending weeks on the problem and finally have a good, fully-functional phone. So, now, I'm a bit paranoid about any rooting or upgrade procedure, though I suspect and official update from a Sprint shouldn't cause a problem.
I'm also considering doing a basic rooting (no custom ROM) so I can boot into ClockworkMod Recovery and make a complete backup, but, again, I'm very leery about it.
Is there any possibility that rooting, in and of itself, could cause the wifi to stop working or was it that the specific ROM that was installed didn't have the right wifi driver?

Dude there are literally thousands of people running custom roms flawlessly ....taking that in to consideration, what do you think the answer to your question is? Lol for liability purposes we all have to say "there's a risk" but my 11 year old sister rooted her evo and flashed cm7 without any help

Fair enough, the custom ROM that was used must have been a crappy one.

Well we've had some that had broken wifi long ago but really you probably just could've flashed a new working kernel over it and the problem would be gone. If you wanna stay stock-ish I'd recommend fresh 2.1 but if you wanna really see it fly flash kush-deck gb. Flash the. 29 kernel after you boot and you will never regret it

Thanks, I'll check those out sometime. Have you got links for them?
Believe me, you don't want the stock Sprint 2.1 on your Hero. It's terrible. Super slow and it freezes constantly. I ran it for a short time after Sprint released it and that's when I decided to root. If I remember correctly you also can't put your apps on the SD card with it which really limits how many apps you can install.
I am running CyanogenMod 6.0 Froyo with ADW Launcher (built into the Rom) and its snappy and reliable but still has a lot of the bells and whistles. Try Beautiful Widgets and you can have a homescreen clock with animated weather just like the HTC Sense homescreen.
I tried CM 6.1.1 recently (updated froyo with new features) but it used more internal memory than 6.0 which made my phone laggy.
Be sure to get the appropriate Google apps zip file with the new Market

Android Eclair. 2.2 is Froyo

I managed to find some of the software I was looking for and I'm actually pretty happy to run 1.5; I actually find it quite usable.
