After flashing to JP6 (which works ok) i'm unable to connect thru usb.
Odin wont connect, Kies wont connect, mass storage doesn't work.
I noticed that after the flash, when i connect the wall charger a popup appears asking me how to connect (kies, mass storace, etc).
When i connect the normal usb cable to the phone and computer, nothing happens. It charges, but doesn't connect.
I tried uninstalling and installing kies, reboots, wipe cache, factory resets..
Anyone??

I am definitely not an expert of anykind at all but it sounds like to me that the new software has the mapping for those 2 fuctions backwards.
Dont know if this can be changed by some simple "re-programming" or not but that is waht it sounds like to me.
If Im wrong anyone... Please correct me. I am always looking to learn!!!
You should go to Settings -> Wireless and network -> USB settings -> select Ask on connection.
when you connect, does it reboot and loop into a charging mode ie: showing a battery and a "wait" icon?
If so, I had the same issue with my first device within 3 days of using. Only thing I did was rooting and Voodoo fix (i'm not sure if I used the lagfixed for my device or for another one). If you have the same issue, I think you could revert back to stock using an SD card to transfer an update.zip of a stock image, might be worth a try
Guys, thanks for the help. When i woke up today, i gave it another try, and it worked like it should..
Still al little confused though..

Hi all,
I have a huge problem. I dont have USB mode anymore. When I plug the phone to my PC, it doesnt ask me if I want to connect it as a storage mass. It is only charging; windows doesnt recognize a new device too, so I cant use nvflash.
Besides, I dont have the recovery mode, I cant use it to install an previous rom...
Can you help me please ?
I have the same problem on my G2x after flashing ClockWorkMod...
I had the same problem. I asked the retailer for an exchange. However, just before I returned it, the phone was plugged in to my laptop USB for charging and all of a sudden there was a notification saying that USB was connected. I had done a factory reset before this but it hadn't helped.
You could try enabling Hidden Menus and then in Port Settings try changing from AP USB to CP USB and see if it helps.
Also, try reinstalling the drivers on your computer.
Hi all, I have scoured the web for similar issues and can't find any answers
-Captivate I897 running 2.1 formerly mounted to my MAC just fine, rooted using Galaxy-S one click root. Root was successful, mostly just removed bloatware, etc.. but alas my phone is no longer recognized by the computer, although the phone recognizes that it is connected, when I click "mount" nothing happens on the computer's end.
-Appears to be a problem with the phone, I have tried Win7 w/ Kies mini and installed/reinstalled drivers, dev mode, etc...nada. And here's the kicker - these machines will recognize and mount my GF's unrooted Vibrant just fine.
-I have a separate micro SD card reader that can read the SD card out of the phone that way.
-So, I am hoping for some help to either
1 - fix the computer recognition issue, or
2- find steps to manually update to 2.2 or unroot, etc, any ideas that will get me running 2.2 and hopefully mount to Mac or PC, using files manually loaded to the SD and installed during recovery mode, this looks like flashing, would Andromeda or Cognition fix the connectivity issue?
Thanks in advance!!
If you're rooted and can get into download mode (power off+2 volume buttons+plug usb in) then you can use this link ----> http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QL6NX702 to flash stock 2.2 firmware. Note: This WILL break your root. Here's the thread on Odin One Click as well---->http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989. You probably want to read the information there before flashing to 2.2.
Good Luck!
Thanks for the suggestion, I've tried multiple drivers, but since my PC doesnt recognize my phone, both Odin or Superoneclick dont recognize my phone also.
I was able to manually unroot by copying the One Click Root Update.zip to my phone via Wifi File-sharing app. Unroot was successful, but still no connection to PC or Mac.
I'm stuck for now, It appears that any type of flashing requires a PC connection, unless there is some way to flash completely with Wifi-copied files and using the 'reinstall packages' option?
Well, if you have a dropbox, you could drag and drop a rom (say cognition) onto your phone's dropbox. Then you'd need to find a CWM recovery (make sure it's not 3.0) update.zip and reinstall packages. This will give you CWM recovery, from which you could install Cognition from your dropbox. No guarantees it will work, but it's worth a shot.
Can't help on the Mac and I only have a dim memory of 2.1, but what are your setting under Settings/Applications for USB settings and Development? Do you have USB debugging checked (on)? Do you have the Development settings set to something weird like Kies update?
My recommendation is to put USB debugging on (checked). In that case I think the USB settings choice is disabled and therefore ignored. Then when you connect to the computer you will get a message in the notification bar on your phone saying something like "select to copy files to/from the computer". Click that, then click the mount button. You should then be able to see the extra drives on your computer by looking under My Computer or whatever (on a PC). On mine they are F and G, no special indications that they are drives on an attached phone. I also do get an automatic pop-up for the new drives, like when you insert a USB stick, but I imagine that setting could be disabled so look for the drives manually.
If you can get a com port try to do a master clear with the phone plugged in and on the entire time, then do various methods of getting into download mode if you got a com port when the phone booted up, future references I would use Odin to flash speedmod kernel to get cwm and then flash a rom or leave it as is, when I first started rooting I used the same software and got the same problem
Try installing all the drivers beforehand just to make sure

My wife's phone has the exact same issue as OP. Suggestions like above are useless unfortunately as the phone does not recognize that it is connected to a computer. Instead it acts as though it is connected to a charger. The oddest thing is that if I plug it in to a computer while the phone is turned off, the phone will turn on! However, still no recognition that it is connected to a PC.
Initially when I connected the phone the first time, Win7 said driver failed to install. Then my working cappy would not connect to Win7. I had to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and restart. My working cappy connected as it should, but my wife's phone from that point refused to recognize anything but charging.
Attempts to fix Via external SD: (1) I transferred Continuum 4.1 and reinstalled. Still not recognized. (2) Transferred my recovery images from January for stock, but just became stuck on boot screen for Continuum. I am uneasy about transferring the update-recovery.zip and download folder from original backup as I do not know whether it will screw up attempts to re-enter recovery if it does not work. (3) Attempted download mode, but only works via CWM 2 (not extended menu or three button or by inserting battery with odin up trick). Even when in DL mode odin does not recognize the COM port. (4) Attempted different orders for connecting to Odin in DL mode. By orders I mean rearranging the order I connect (i.e. open odin then connect cable then go to DL). (5) transferred andromeda3 and reinstalled, still same issue.
So, I am left thinking a hardware failure occurred at some point, so I will need to open it up and check connectors to solder it possibly.
Possible non-hardware solution is to restore to stock somehow WITHOUT Odin via CWM. Anyone know if this is possible or have a link to a flashable zip?
Thanks!
edit: I am on Win7 and always made sure USB debugging was checked. Also I tried to connect via One-Click Root for the heck of it and kies mini. No luck.
flashed without a cable
Thanks for the tip jomeister 15, I was able to flash new roms dropped over wifi with CWM recovery. This got me onto 2.2 which was the main purpose of this whole adventure. I just loaded Andromeda3 and it's pretty darn impressive.
My PC and Mac still do not recognise my phone, I troubleshot extensively like Snowake and nothing is recognized. I'm convinced its a hardware issue but who cares with wireless flashing and file transfer.

You could try to send a ROM, kernel, and update.zip(CWM flash) and attempt to get another ROM over it. Format the system, wipe dalvik, I don't think its a hardware issue, I had the same problem first time I tried using 1 click rooting, I just waited patiently and got a com port after about two days, so that just leads me to believe some configuration file was corrupted during flash to stock, possibly flashing a ROM or reflashing the ROM you're on with a complete wipe of the system and user data and whatnot, or possibly just doing a backup up from cwm and immediately restore it, if its charging I highly doubt its hardware

i am looking to change roms from cm7.
my phone charges ok when i link it to my laptop via USB but the computer doesnt recognise the phone as a storage device. i therefore cant access the sd card to install a new rom.
i was considering reflashing one of the gingerbread stock roms but my phone isnt even being recognised by odin when put into download mode?
can anyone help me find a solution to this. I have searched online effortlessly for an answer and tried various things such as changing cable; ive uninstalled device drivers and reinstalled them again; ive done a factory reset on phone and re-flashed rom with no success. My phone has never had this problem before until i installed cyanogen.
any help would be greatly appreciated!!
I was on CM7 without any issues... but try a few things.
- You do need a USB cable capable of data, not all are....
- USB option in phone settings set to Mass Storage and once you plug the phone in, pull down your phone notification bar and make sure you select to TURN ON mass storage
- if all that is not working, sign up to drop box FOR FREE http://db.tt/lZuhJtfB , also install the app on your phone, and you can transfer files from your computer to your phone... this will just let you change your ROM
If odin is not recognizing your phone... to me it sounds like your cable is not a data cable or you do not have the proper drivers... install KIES to get the drivers installed... other then that ODIN should always work...
thanks for your reply.
its def a data cable. i did try re-installing keys and i also reinstalled the necessary device drivers with no success.
can i load other roms over cyanogen or do i need to revert back to stock first. i have no way of reverting back to stock. i dont think any of the ICS roms are stable enough to installl one of them
also how do i access the USB option in phone settings - i had looked for this sort of setting on phone but couldnt find it
I believe you will need odin to get back to a samsung firmware....
The USB option is usually under wireless and networks I think...
I'm on AOKP and find it more stable then some of the CM7 stuff I was on.... maybe worth a look for you if you aren't happy what you are on.
http://www.AOKP.co
also see my SIG, I switched to glitch kernel, and I am so far impressed.
My phone was working perfectly until a few days ago when I noticed that USB connection to PC stopped working. I was running imilkas CM9 v2. USB used to work perfectly and then randomly, it just stopped working, I don't have a clue what caused it because I did not flash anything on the phone.
When I connect my Phone to the Computer via USB cable, my phone start charging and nothing else happens. My computer does not even show that I connected a USB device.
I've tried 3 other computers with the drivers and the same issue (1 comp with xp and the others with win 7). Also, not to mention, I've tried multiple USB cables, including the original. I've tried USB Debugging on and off, doesn't make a difference.
I've tried ADB and it does not recognize the device either.
In CWM when I mount USB storage, it does not work.
In download mode, when I plug in the cable, nothing happens, odin does not detect any connection.
USB connection to the computer is Dead and it does nothing but charge my phone.
Here is a list of things I've already tried to fix the issue:
1. Factory Reset.
2. Used Mobile Odin, reverted to my Phone's Stock GB ROM (KK2). On stock GB, I tried Kies Air and that worked fine, but USB connection had the same issue
3. Formatted the Internal Storage
4. Removed the SIM Card and Micro SD card, still no luck.
5. re-installed CWM (without pc)
6. Installed Paranoid Android 0.2
7. Called Samsung... They said they wont service my phone because I'm located in Canada and I have the International Note. They told me I'd have to take it to the country I bought it from.
If anyone can offer any help that would be great.
Thanks in advance.

As I have mentioned in my post that I've already tried multiple different cables, including the original.
Could be factory defect. flash original rom and take it to service center.

Phone used to work perfectly fine before. Already flashed original rom, it did nothing. And I've already talked to Samsung. They won't help me.
I've already mentioned that in my op! I would be nice to hear suggestions/solutions other than the ones I've mentioned.
Can anyone please help me out with this? I even tried cleaning the usb port a bit more, but no avail. I am guessing the file that recognizes a PC connection got corrupted some how. Anyone know how to update or replace that?
I have a very weird issue with my S10: it wont connect via usb to pc. Once connected a notification should display and the option "file transfer" should be there, but no such menu appears. When i plug it in to a pc it just starts charging, the pc also does not see a (bad) usb connection or whatever. I have been reading fora and watching youtube for over 1,5 hours. I feel now is the time to ask for help.
What might be usefull context: i have had the "moisture detected" error many times, it started showing up 2 weeks after i bought the device. Gladly i mainly use wireless charging so effectively it hasnt bothered me much, but it was weird since even after waiting for hours for the phone to dry (i dont think it was wet but whatever) the error was still there. One week ago the problem got quite severe, lasted for more than 24 hours and it just refused to charge, tried rebooting, turning it off, going into safe mode... to no avail. I had no wireless charger then, it was nasty.
I am using the usb cable provided by samsung (but used two others as well).
What i tried:
wiping cache and data from usb settings
wiping cache via recovery
reinstalling samsung drivers to pc
looking for a yellow exclamation mark in device manager on pc (not there)
different usb cables
different pc's
different ports on pc
rebooting the phone
booting in safe mode
installed dex on pc
via developper mode select file transfer as standard
via developper mode select any of the other modes to see if that helps
via developper mode revoked usb debugging authorizations
via developper mode enable usb debugging
The next logical step seems a factory reset. I am unwilling to do that however, since there are many gigs of photo's on the device that i want to backup first (the whole point of trying to connect it via usb heheh).
Your advice please!
Your could try to reflash your present OS via Odin but when doing so remember to use HOME_CSC. This way your data will be present when done flashing and phone reboots.

How he can do the flash with odin when phone is not recognized by the computer !
Clean the charging port with a clean toothbrush and try again ... Also make sure that the charging cable supports data transfer ... If you tried all of these things and did not work, then most likely the charging port has a problem that may be oxidized or cut in the tracks..Try the solution that I gave it to you, and if it doesn't work, take it to a technician
charge from the wall.
I too have a similar predicament. Tried all the cables and USB ports I could get my hands on... I have a custom ROM also, so it could be that. I have done a full format and reflashed ROM (from SD card) - but it made no difference, the phone refuses to communicate via USB.
SO, if you have any solutions, please let me know!
I can however communicate via ADB over network. So, if you know some adb commands you can pull over an entire folder with the "adb pull" command.
