to what country jpm belongs?
Nordic / Norse
I personally use XWJPA
It's compatible with many mods at present and stuff seems to be really fast.

Trying To Upgrade Version?

Hey guys, I'm basically new to all of this flashing roms n stuff. I am currently running Firmware 2.2 Baseband Version UCJI6 Kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]#1 Build FROYO.UCJI6. I updated to that with odin3 one click so my phone hasnt been rooted either. Obviously I want to upgrade my phone to a more recent version of 2.2 but am not sure how to go about it. I tried to update the kb1 that was just released by samsung but kies mini will not read my phone. Do I need to flash back to my stock 2.1, if so how do I go about doing that? Can anyone please help me. Id really appreciate it. Thanks!

Yea, you need to go back to 2.1. However, I have no faith in kies what-so-ever. It outright refuses to upgrade my girlfriends stock captivate...

I'm having the same issue... I tried to flash back to stock ROM using ODIN, but it just kept me on JI6 build. Any help?

You can install Overcome 2.0 Gold. It's Gingerbread ROM based on 2.3.3. Please do read the instructions very carefuly. Go here for the installation guide. It's very well done.

i originally fudged my tab and fixed it with http://www.thegalaxytabforum.com/index.php?/topic/443-how-to-flashing-euro-firmware-on-samsung-galaxy-tab/[/URL] im wondering if my tablet is rooted or not as it states
Basically is you’ve never installed a custom ROM before, if your Tab is running the stock ROM or if you’ve installed a ROM from samfirmware.com, it’ll be best to look at this preparatory steps below, especially if you’re coming from the stock Froyo 2.2-based ROMs:
* Your Tab must be rooted. (Please look for SuperOneClick root method as it’s usually the safe bet! But for more information on rooting, please refer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=812367)
* IF YOU’RE FROM A 2.2.x/Froyo-based ROM: You are not using protected bootloaders! Just to be sure, please go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=888071 and download the bootloader patch apk. Install it and patch your bootloader!
(Don’t assume you’re might not have protected bootloaders! Just download the patch and test it, if this is the first time you’re using Overcome! It’s not a big file to download…)
(NEW EDIT/WARNING: If you’re already on Gingerbread… DON’T TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER! I REPEAT: DON’T TOUCH THE BOOTLOADER!!! The note above was for Froyo-based users that want to upgrade to Overcome ROM 2.x only)
* You must have the proper drivers installed. Your best bet, if you’re coming from the stock ROM, is to have the Samsung Kies software installed and connected at least once.
and was wondering if i could brick it as that step is the only confusing bit (the rest im confident in doing just not this bootloader bit
It is stated in the instructions that if you're coming from Froyo, you must patch the bootloader before flashing 2.3.3. Just follow the link I provided in the previous post and read about bootloader.
Basically:
If coming from Froyo: download bootloader patch and install it then follow instructions to flash Gingerbread.
I hope this helps

Firmware - newbie help

Hi all,
I am wondering if someone can guide me to the correct direction.
This is my phone (samsung Galaxy I9000)
Model GT-I9000
Firmware: 2.1-Update 1
Base Version: I9000 DTJG3
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected]#2
Build Number: ECLAIR. DTJG4
It is unlocked - orginally from Optus.
this phone feels very slow and not very responsive at the moment.
I am thinking of upgrading the firmware hoping that it will improve the persformance
Can someone please tell me which firmware will be best for me? I'm not going to root the phone and I am just after most effecient firmware (good wifi, GPS and signal)
I am not sure which one is most stable for my phone.
Thank you
you could flash a stock gingerbread rom.the ones with bootloaders.jvh is pretty stable.2.3.4 ones will have phone fc bug..you'll hv to root ur phone to get rid of that bug..stock roms u can dwnld from ramads thread..for gps/wifi/signal u will have to flash the appropriate modem.there was a thread comparing modems somewhere here on the forum.try searching it.if u really want near zero lags it would be best to do ext4 lagfix..but again rooting will be reqd.gb roms are fast without these but lagfix still brings noticeable change.
Thank you for the reply.
It seems that I am gonna need to do root on it.
If that is the case, It will be much appreciated if I can be pointed to the correct link (tutorial - step by step) to get this process.
After reading some of the psosts I get really confused with all the type of firmware and kernel etc...
any suggestions and links I can follow will be much a great help much appreciated
Thank you again
The below links helped me out.
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/xxjvp-android-2-3-4-firmware-galaxy-s-install-and-download/
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/root-xxjvp-firmware/
Read the tutorials carefully, then read them again and again until you are sure and confident. do not use if you dont feel confident.
Make sure you have the 3 button combo (recovery and download).

Hello, you can try JPY on 2.2.1, it's a stable firmware without the bugs of the gingerbread, if you doesn't want to root your phone.
Thanks for all the replies guys,
I just upgraded to GingerBread 2.3.3 XWjVN.
My next question is:
If I want to get rid of all those Optus rubish - Can you please tell me which firmware do I need to install?
There are so many types and I really get confused which one is going to work for me.
I have seen my friend's SI9000 very fast and snapy - is the firmware upgrade the way to do it?
Thanks again guys

[Q] Can I flash the value pack over 2.3.5 XXJVT?

My phone is running Android 2.3.5 (Baseband Version GT I9000 XXJVT) that I downloaded from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1289875
I have not rooted or did any other stuff.
So, I want to know whether I can flash the value pack from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1570727
Since the value pack is based on Android 2.3.6, I'am not sure as to whether I should proceed or not.
Can someone please help me? I know that the value pack adds some very good features and improves performance. You guys helped me upgrade to 2.3 from 2.1, I'am really hoping you guys help me in this situation too!
Thanks.
yes you can.
Do I need any other prerequisites? Or should I directly proceed?
And while flashing should, what check boxes should I check? Since there are no instructions about it!
