I tried this question before but didn't get a clear answer so;
I have an unbranded SGS with a T-Mobile sim card. Will Kies recognise it as T-Mobile and make me wait until December for the T-Mobile upgrade or will it allow me to upgrade as soon as 2.2 appears?

it will only show up updates applicable to

Yes but will it know it is T-Mobile from that or the sim and therefore not allow the upgrade until T-Mob release it?
no it doesn't care which SIM you are using
it only looks into the product ID

Hi all.
I had a problem with my wife's Orange locked Galaxy-S where it has a simlock code that I am unable to get around after tricking KIES into flashing I9000XXJPC via the registry hack.
I was wondering if someone could post the default registry settings for an Orange UK branded handset for KIES in the hope that I could trick KIES into flashing the Orange Froyo update when it is released?
I'm hoping that by doing so once it's released and can be update, my wifes phone may accept her sim-card again.
I take it all I would need is the following:
"SoftwareRevision"="CURRENT ORANGE VERSION"
"ProductCode"="CURRENT ORANGE VERSION"
"HIDSWVER"="CURRENT ORANGE VERSION"
"DEVCONINFO"=""
I want to put this request in before any release is updated & I'm hoping that flashing an official Orange UK software version may help.
Thanks for any help!
(The Galaxy-S is currently being used as a glorified media player and my wife has my Nexus One for now which I'd love to get back!)
Hi,
Quick question:
I started Keis and it said an update was available. The next screen stated :
Code:
List of Devices Requiring Fireware Upgrade
Model Name: GT-I9000
Current Version: PDA:JM2 / PHONE:JM1 / CSC:JM2
The latest version is already installed on connected device.
The is running Eclair (this is what is says in Settings -> About Phone).
I am in the Netherlands. Phone was bought SIM free. Does anyone know how to get out of this?
Regards.
I telephoned Samsung, and was told that the 2.2 update had not yet been rolled out to the whole of the E.U. He said ti was not even available in Belgium, and though that since it was released north to south, then Portugal may well have to wait. I'll try back in a months time.
so do you already have it? i have jm2 jm1 jm1 netherlands wich telephone number did you dial
Bump
Any news on Froyo for JM1/JM2 ?
Hi,
I've recently moved from Australia to the USA (with an AT&T sim) and would like to upgrade to 2.2. Kies still does not have an image available so I'm looking to flash it myself but not sure which ROM file to use.
The phone is unlocked and unbranded. The version details are:
PDA: I9000DTJG4
PHONE: I9000DTJG3
CSC: I9000XSAJG2
I've been reading about the I9000UGJK3 image but I believe that installs the Bell branding on the phone, which I'd like to try avoid.
Which image should I be using?
Thanks
Ivan
use information from this topic
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=810232
to locate your code
then use information from this topic to flash your phone, using the ROM for your phone

if the KIES comes back with no results for Froyo, then that means it has not been released yet for Australia region, and you will have to pick from any of the other flavours available
or stay in 2.1
Thanks for the quick reply.
According to regedit I have a GT-I9000HKAXSA. This doesn't seem to be listed as a "known" product code just yet. Which might explain why Kies doesn't have an update for it yet.
I guess what I'm trying to determine is a) can any image be placed on any phone? b) if yes, then what would be the best image if I wanted to flash my phone and have it work in the USA on AT&T (I'm trying to make sure that my correct 2/3G bands are still going to work post flash)
Dude, I did this tonight and it worked
http://webtrickz.com/how-to-update-...oid-2-2-froyo-via-kies-anywhere-in-the-world/
And I'm in Australia on the optus network
I just couldn't believe the lag and I didn't want to root my phone just yet
I also couldn't believe that Vodafone got froyo straight out of the box!
when it says "refresh" after you've done the regedit bit it means hit your home button. worked straight away
Vodafone straight out of the box?!? Where did you hear that? Not true I'm with vodafone australia and we got eclair, I did the reg edit to get XXJPO like you
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Thanks Guys, I managed to sort this by using Odin and putting I9000XWJPA on it. Almost bricked the thing b/c I didn't read all the documentation completely!
Seems to be working like a charm at the moment.
Hi,
These are probably newbies questions but I could not find a definitive answer for them. Basically, I think I am having some mismatch between my CSC code and my location.
I bought my GT-N7000 in Senegal (where I live) a bit more than a year ago, with a GB ROM. A couple of weeks afterwards, I received an OTA update (pushed) without any issue, apparently the last one on GB. Then the Note was caught in a storm and the motherboard was fried. The local after-sales service ordered a new motherboard, which was installed in August. Since then, I have not received a single OTA notification.
A few weeks ago, I tried to force OTA to check updates, but I keep getting a Server connection error. I installed Kies but am then getting the Device not supported error, though I have not rooted the phone or changed anything from the stock base. I also tried both processes while visiting in France, using a French (Bouygues) sim card but with a similar result.
The *#1234# maneuver gives the following:
PDA: N7000UBKK8
Phone: N7000UBKK3
CSC: N7000CHOKK3
The CHO CSC code is confirmed on Kies. Apparently, this is a code for Chile, so I don't quite understand why I would have it for a Senegalese phone. When using the 272 + IMEI code, I also get the CHO code, with no alternative choice.
I tried looking through various sources, here and on SM, but cannot find any confirmation as to what the CSC code for Senegal should be (i.e some national code or a regional / open one), as I did not check this with my initial motherboard.
The local after sales service has no idea about any of this ("you should not try to update too much via OTA, your will fry your motor") and they suggest the current GB 2.3.6 ROM is indeed the latest one available here. So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to confirm this latter assertion?
2. In case there is in fact a newer stock ROM but the CHO "discrepancy" (provided it is indeed a mismatch) prevents it from being reachable on OTA and Kies, to which code should I change my CSC to make them available again?
3. Should this change not be possible (or the CHO code be the correct one), which ROM (most likely JB) should I use via Odin to be sure I will still be able to use any and all of my local setup. Since there is no reliable Wifi here, I have to rely on 3G (this gets all the more tricky since I am using a small operator (Expresso) instead of the large Orange one) so losing the expresso APN in the flashing process is not an option (I understand crashing APNs can be a drawback of flashing non-national ROMs on Odin, maybe I'm wrong).
Sorry if this is all very basic, but not finding any specific, local info is getting a bit frustrating
Thanks
You can try CSC Changer from play store but i doubt that you will find csc for your country there, even if you do and you choose it, it will format your phone. JB update is available in Africa but not in your country, nearest one being south africa and kenya. You can flash firmware for any of these countries. Regarding APN Settings: if you are rooted used TBP to backup your APN settings or even My Backup Pro can also backup your APN Settings which you can restore after flashing firmware for any of the 2 countries mentioned above.
Make sure to format everything from recovery (ofcourse after backup) and flash JB using Odin.
Good Luck!!!
Cheers!!!
Phone system update checks always say up to date, phone is running android 8.0.0, I wanted android 9.0 on the phone. I downloaded 4 various sprint and verizon firmwares for this SM-N950U to use with ODIN, but it always fails.
Current firmware build number is R16NW.N950USQS5CRF6
What firmware will work on this phone, does it need to be SPR or Verizon?
Can I put a version android 9 on this phone?
Samsung smart switch also says firmware is up to date. Since my daughter has a Verizon note 8 on the verizon network she was able to upgrade to android 9.
Is it because this is a Sprint phone on the Verizon network, Verizon wont update the OS?
Solved it for now. Instead of sams mobile firmwares, I used UPDATO firmware, latest android 9 for a sprint phone. ODIN worked updating the system. Still when checking inside the phone for system updates, it says up to date. I now wonder if UPDATO firmware is non damaged and sams mobile has issues. And do you know definitively if you can not put a verizon firmware onto a sprint phone? None of the sams mobile firmwares worked whether they were sprint or verizon

The reason why it will not update is because you're using a Sprint branded phone on Verizon and if you think about it Verizon doesn't carry Sprints firmware it only carries Verizon firmware that's why you'll have to manually update it from now on. You can if you choose to put a Sprint sim card in it and then it'll update. Each carrier only carries their own branded firmware.. Make sense? Also try getting the firmware from here to it usually works the best. https://androidfilehost.com

Ok, makes sense, I am not familiar with any of this so I did not know. And neither did the verizon tech people know why it was not updating when I walked into the store apparently, because they claimed the Note 8 was too old and Verizon was no longer updating the OS software or security. Then they gave me Samsung's customer service number and told me if I give Samsung the serial number off the phone, Samsung will privately push the software update onto my phone...So I called them and they said no that IS WRONG. Run the Samsung program Smart Switch to update the OS, so I did and it failed, said it was uptodate. I was then told the phone can not be updated except by taking it into a samsung service center and pay a big fee.
So was very glad to at least get it up to date on my own without any of their 'expertise'

That's just Verizon's way of getting you out of the store or tricking you into buying a new phone. Samsung cannot "push" an update to your phone either seeing as they don't carry Sprints firmware either! The only thing you can do is just use odin and flash your own updated firmware.
