Smooth Sense Icons + Extra (Updated: 22/03/2011)

Hi all,
Here is my first attempt at doing some theming work for our beloved Hero. This was prompted by Alexander13 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754497). This is not an exact port (I recreated all the icons) of jercik's Smooth Sense Icons v.1.0 but it's pretty close. I would also like to thank every one from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754497 for the encouragement, Summered for pointers and Daneshm90 for advice and awesome tools (Apk_Manager_4.8 and Update Scripts)
Here are some samples so you can get an idea of what the icons look like (speeds are not accurate) and also I have gotten quite a few requests for just the images etc so I have decided that for those that feel comfortable creating their own frameworks etc or want to use the icons for another reason you can just download them (these will also include xml files if needed) :

Note: I am currently running standard Sense 2.1 w/ root and I wont be installing every ROM to test. If it compiles successfully then I will assume it is ok so PLEASE make sure you do a nand backup!! I will happily redo any that have issues but cannot afford to replace your phone. So please backup to be safe OR I keep an update script of the original on my phone to flash just incase I get a bootloop so you could do that too.

Instructions for adding semi-transparent notification pull down
1. Download one of the packages above (Or use one you already have)
2. Open the update-xxx.zip using winrar / 7zip
3. Navigate to this path: framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-mdpi
4. Copy the image called status_bar_background.png out (not statusbar_background.png)
5. Open the image in an image editor of your choice (or use the one from floomat here)
6. Change the transparency (I have mine set to 80% now but have a bit of a play)
7. Save the image as a png (make sure you back up your original image just in case)
8. Place the image you have made into the zip that you have open overwritting the existing
9. Close everything down and reflash
Obviously not everyone is on VR12, so if you would like these icons for your ROM send me a pm with a link to your framework-res.apk (I can provide you my email address if you prefer) and which icons you would like. If you are not sure how to get your framework-res.apk off the phone then a link to where you got your ROM will be fine
Note: Any framework-res.apk files that you download WILL override any changes that you may of made yourself UNLESS you provide me with your framework-res.apk.
I will keep updating this post with links for new ROMs once I make them
I am also currently working on some for various Froyo ROMs, I will post up the images once done. I can make these availible for non Froyo ROMs too.

That's odd. Seemed to flash fine for others. What ROM are you on? Would you prefer just the framework-res.apk and you could just push on to your phone?

I am using VillainROM 12. But it is still not working. I have tried it several times but i does not boot.

Sorry for the troubles. I have updated that link to match exactly the one from the other post. I wonder if there was something odd going on from RapidShare... Anyway I'm happy it has worked

First - I did not in any way shape or form create this theme. All credit goes to dena994 in the I9000 Forums. It was just so nice that i couldn't help but port it.

lol yeah some of these guys do some crazy work. Plus side to the CWM themes is if you store them on the root of your sd you can switch from one to the other in under a minute.. i love it.

Dude nice... I'll be sticking with this one for a while. Any chance that you can make a green version of this (green where the blue line) trying to make a green/blu version for myself. Already converted some icons but couldnt get glow effect on this one.

Sorry cant help ya there. I only asked for permission to port it over. I dont really want to get into editing the colors, to time consuming. The port i can do fairly quickly.
Im going to be porting over a a completely different theme that is green based in the next few days if you want to hold out on what your doing and check it out. You might be able to swap some stuff around to your liking.

Does/can this theme work on Gingerborg 7.5, a XXJPY Froyo 2.2.1 based ROM.

Perception no way as is. Though the original might. "Changes to base rom: Based on JPY" follow the link in the first post to dena994's post.
Cog3.02 yessir have it loaded as we speak.
Edit: Updated version that should work with FireFly 1.5.

I just installed the theme on FF 1.5 and it worked (sort of).
- the notification bar icons (battery, wifi, etc) installed the FF 1.5 stock icons.
- the power menu looks strange too (not at all like the picture on page 1), but it is functional.
Edit: It also made me lose root, and now I can't seem to get root back (one click root, update.zip didn't work). I think I need to flash back to stock and re-install.

Sigh.. Ill look into it again. Firefly is getting under my skin with the themes though. Did the revert work? That one should work for sure.
edit: Looked though files dont see anything wrong. It should be working fine. Reuploading maybe i uped a copy that wasnt complete.

I installed it on top of a fresh installation of FF 1.5 and it worked flawlessly with one exception. The mms app kept force closing. I replaced that app with the stock FF 1.5 mms app and everything is good now.

No, because there is no htc logo, it can be added by Venom Tweaks, which are not compatible with other roms.

Why do you want HTC in the left corner?

You can extract apk from ViperDHD rom, but Venom Tweaks not working with any other rom because of deep code changes.
It is sense 4.1 full.

hehe, to be honest im from htc thunderbolt ROM, mostly app work on DHD work on our Thunderbolt also :laugh:

Use search on XDA, there is already was someone who tried.
Here:
venom tweaks.apk is only the top of an ice berg- you may say,
there, come so many other things in the rom- belonging to tweaks,
to which a user do not have and do not need access- because of the apk...

This has been tested on sense 4 roms like SVHD and ViperDHD, however this is a vrtheme script so it should work on any sense rom, if it doesn't then try it on a sense 4 rom.
Flash in recovery and done.

How it works if you want to edit the background
Basically this mods the framework files (system-ui.apk) inside the system-ui.apk theres a file known as "statusbar_background9.png" with this file you can edit in photoshop or any editing software and put what you want like htc logo. Meaning you can just pull the system-ui.apk from your phone, extract it, edit statusbar background, repack, push the apk back; however this method using vrtheme is easier due to it doing all these steps but you just put the image in the vrtheme folders.

I will see what I can do to this app. I use virtuous ten studio on windows since it's quite easy to decompile and compile apps it should work like a treat. If I can edit the note.png then I'll post it on here. Since it's easier to use and apps don't go over it
Umph. Application not installed. Pushing it didn't work either. However the size of the image is quite small on the app (36x36) so it's better to use my method anyway.

I've also ran this on EG22 roms as well.
Bugs: null/null on the lockscreen when the music player isn't running.
EH06: Tested on Stock Deodexed EG22 and EH06, Random Rom Hawk v2, and ERA Unnamed with no issues.
EH06: Tested on Urban Decay with one issue. You need to remove email.apk from the theme before you install it.
EH17: Make sure you are familiar with issues reported in Maddoggins mod thread and Crawrjs AIO thread.
EH17: Both Urban Vendetta & Hurricane Rom, Remove Talk.apk from the zip before installing. Both roms have the voice and video version which will cause fc's if the one from the theme isn't removed.
EH17 Lockmod Removal:
I didn't want to rebuild the whole theme just yet so it's a patch the keeps crt, battery mod, overscroll, and adds the scrollable quickpanel, but it has standard animations (I forgot to put the fly ins back in, sorry). It's made up of the framework-res.apk, settings.apk, and the 3 jar files.
Instructions:
This is made to remove from the theme so:
Flash v2.2 theme (If you're not already on it)
In the TSM parts settings: get your settings in there set the way you want. You won't be able to change these later.
Flash the patch.
You will now only have the Epic lock screen.
EH17 v2.3 Changes and instructions.
Wow, where to start with the changes this time around.
Thanks to maddoggin, we now have 11 lockscreen, and Mikey, you get your puzzle lock back in this version.
Blacked out gtalk w/Voice and video!
The transparent MMS is back.
Re did the progress bars to green as it is on Honeycomb.
Included the Voice command and Voice talk. Just awesome apps everyone should have.
I did not update the market yet. It was not cooperating with me at all. Also not including google + as that app is a royal pain in the a$$.
I would recommend you flash this on a fresh rom. Please do not post any issues until you try that.
Gmail or Gtalk fc's: If this happens, make sure there is only one installed in the system/app folder. If you do not know which ones to delete, delete both and reflash the theme. You can also fix plenty of fc issues by wiping the data on that app.

Hey Shane, I'm on stock deodoxed EH06...I can just flash the theme right? of course, wipe dalvik and cache. Just like to make sure of the correct steps to take.

I still just want your icons on the notification only, such as the signal, wifi, and etc. Someone on a different thread gave me an answer as to what I needed, but i don't know if simply replacing the right files will brick my phone, or go through.. lol. I'm Deodexed on EG22. I also gave it more of a thought, as to I should just give the whole theme a shot, perhaps enjoying it for a while, would change my mind, I already have a nandroid backup, just wondering, is it just as simple to uninstall as it is to install? or Do I have to Nandroid Restore if I ever choose to remove the theme? Just like to tinker with things, I do appreciate your work. So much that I only want to take a piece of it, and apply it to my own custom experience. =P

Shane, just wanted to let you know that I flashed the theme with no issues. Must say...the theme...well...it's KICK ASS. Awesome job bro, keep up the great work.

You could just try flashing the systemui.apk for the signal bars, but the battery mod it in the framework and for that you'll need the .jar files.
To get rid of it, I would flash maddoggins stock 8lock mod and add the stock version of the apps I themed to the system/app folder of the zip.

Thanks, totally fine with that, I actually flashed the over-scroll and screen off crt for EG22 and it came with a Battery Mod with Percentage and color of my choice (red) So I'm totally fine with the battery mod being a whole diff story is fine by me! =P

For some reason, this theme doesn't want to apply to RandomROM 2.3 HAWK v.2 ROM based on EG22.

TBD Sense Quicklaunch Widget Mod - two versions

Hey guys, so whilst waiting around in the TBD Beta Group for dansta34 to give us a new Team Bluedroid ROM to test I have been playing around with the Quicklaunch Widget and it is now ready for release. Firstly though I have to give thanks and credit where due.
Firstly and biggest shout goes to liamstears over in the DHD Themes forum as the mod is based off his latest reworking of the original widget which he has been doing for the RCMix team (and which Dan has been including in previous releases), and also for all his help in getting the flip clock moved and resized correctly (and for filling in the holes in my apk/xml skillset ).
Secondly to xiao4 over on DeviantArt for the amazing original Tick weather icon set which I have modded and used.
And finally to monbcn over on DeviantArt for his 'Black Background Set' which provided the inspiration for the shortcut backgrounds.

Hope you like it! Let me know if the CWR zip doesn't work as this is the first one I've made (well, Carl/Kam have made and I edited!) - it is based off one I made which works for the TBD TMOUS ROM setup, and I'm guessing the install path is correct for any ROM that has system apps in internal memory (data/app_s). If your ROM setup uses sd-ext for certain system parts including app_s let me know and I'll post another zip to install to sd-ext. If the attached zip doesn't work could someone kindly either tell me where it should install to, or even better make a working CWR zip and post it, and I'll add it to the OP

Nope, it's an HTC widget for Sense 3/3.5 ROMs

Thanks, thats great i flashed original weather widget. But, i cannot assign shortcuts like music player, calender etc. They are not listed when i click assign shortcut. I can only assign them as one-tap-open app. So no sliding menu when i click a shortcut, it directly opens the app

Strange. What ROM are you running? Sorry, just noticed what you said - when you click on one of the empty + symbols select App instead of Shortcut and they'll all be there. If you are doing that then to have music/calendar/etc you obviously have to be assigning the Sense music/calendar apps.

TeamBlueDroid v2.3. The problem was just that i could not tap the arrow at right side of a shortcut that opens (for ex.music player play-stop-previous-next buttons) as a drawer Now i can tap it after a few exercise and open the drawer, The arrow is really small sized to tap

Actually the press area for opening the drawers extends to the blank space to the right of each drawer so no need to be too exact.

after flashing this, nothing seems to happen so how do i get this on my screen? Is it like a widget i have to apply on sreen, but i didnt have a new widget in my list.
i have the sensation xl rom v2.0 eu, maybe thats the problem?

OK, you'd need to know where system apps are stored in your ROM setup. This zip flashes to data/app_s on your internal memory. If your ROM is set up with system apps on sd-ext it won't work. Use Root Explorer or similar to identify where your other HTC widget apks are stored and I'll either make you a zip or explain how to push the widget to your phone.

I'm using TBD EU version on v2.4 and using a TMous phone. And you can give me any version on your quick launch (Tick or original).

Ok, the zips in this thread are for install on standard ROM setups with system apps in internal memory. Go to the OP in the TBD ROM thread and you'll find links to the two versions there. Each post has two zips attached - one for EU and one for TMOUS. Enjoy
