Is there any greek(greek translated) rom for i897 captivate? My device is semi bricked. What should i do? It is in download mode and I try to reflash its stock rom (i897ucjf6) but when i hit start or master clear in odin it does not responding, it stucks on file analysis. I have no phone for a few days now. Please help.
First off, Wrong section. Second. i dont know what a greek rom is. Third. what windows are you using?
Any Windows xp,vista, 7: try a different usb port
vista or 7: run odin as admin. if nothing happens again, use a different usb port.
if all else fail, you can try a different computer. but im not sure if that will help.
also, if you have tried all the usb ports on your computer. try restarting the comp and see if it works then.
hope this helps

I'm running win xp and i 've tried all usb ports i have. It always stucks on file analysis. Thanks for helping.
ah ok, Well i had this issue in the past. and what help me was using a different computer. but at that time i had an windows 7 comp, so i used my sisters xp comp it worked right away. so at this point, i would iether try restarting your comp. or using another comp...
i have an idea but im not sure if its posible. there is another oden somewhere on here i believe its I897UCJI6 one click. i believe at the time it was the unofficial 2.2 release by designgears. try running that, and if it works, try using the I897UCJF6 to go back to bone stock...
Are you opening odin b4 connecting the device to the comp. make sure oden is open, and that the phone is in dl mode. then connect the device to the comp.
and like zelendel said, are the drivers installed?

I open odin, then connect the device and hit start. The device is already in download mode and all drivers are installed. It still stucks on file analysis. Only one time passed it but stuck again on set pit file. I'll try another computer and let you know.
Does anyone know how to force files on to a I896, I am using winXP and I keep getting "error device not recognized" I think I have bad NV_DATA or something to that effect, I can get in to download and recovery mode(computer/phone on screen) ADB, Odin, fail to see the device.
I think I will try Ubantu, after that I am not sure if I need to JTAG or UART to flash software that will let me boot up.
I did a TIBU back up of my stock rom, is there anyway to find the info I need from there and if so can someone tell me
Have u tried reinstalling ur drivers? Uninstall 1st ,reboot ur pc and install again.
Try connecting to a different USB Port on your PC, and reinstall the drivers.

you need to do some basic troubleshooting, because your post is all over the place. none of these things correlate with each other, and you have not described your actual problem.....
you also havent indicated what 'stock' rom you were on.
2.1? 2.2? 2.3?
Well I loaded Ubuntu and used Heimdall one-click softbrick, I got my phone to boot up now.
My problem I believe is that my CRC file does not end with RWS or something like that, I think Nick had a post on that issue. that is what I want to look at next. was *#1234#?
I may of had a permission issue with the drivers on XP, I did notice a few errors when loading drivers and running programs.
So now I am crawling through linux learning, I think I will need a .tar.gz file for a sch-i896 that will install original bootloaders, I guess that is a 512 pit file, and stock rom with Heimdall packager or find a way to run Odin packaged roms in Ubuntu.
Problem: Attemping to flash to eclair(stock) using Odin version/s 1.81-1.82. Have not had any luck. The phone is rooted. But running bone stock os/rom. I suspect while using an app to kill the boot/shutdown sounds may have some how corrupted this cappy enough to block it from flashing back to stock.
Question: Are there any specific sites or suggestions that would walk me through ways to flash my Captivate back to Eclair?
Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!

Are you connecting the phone to a usb hob thats on the Mother board(rear one if on desktop), running ODIN as adming (if on vista or 7). You putting your phone in download mode and connecting after odin is open? Lastly you have drivers for your phone?
Edit: Mobiletechvideos usually has very good video guides.
U need to right click the Odin and run as administrator 1st, then connect ur phone in download mode to the computer. Be sure to connect the usb end of the cable to a usb port in the back of the computer or first port on laptop. Be sure that before u begin you have the correct drivers installed and then you may want to reboot your computer... then begin the Odining process.
Hope that helps.
edit: prbassplayer, I guess great minds do think alike... But you type faster.
Tried for awhile that night without success. The next morning after restarting my windows xp system it worked. All required software was installed. The pc had been restarted numerous times? Greatful for the suggestions. Still confused as to what the issue was however. Very perplexing indeed.

Hi all
I had to wipe my phone in custom recovery.
I wanted to flash it with RSD lite, as a lot of time, and i can't get it detected by my computer
I search to install drivers (wtf, they were on the computer..?!) and failed.
I gone to the configuration panel in my computer and uninstalled adb drivers
The i got "Fastboot smi S" drivers trying to install, failed too
I uninstalled moto drivers and reinstalled with the file Motorola_End_User_Driver_Installation_5.9.0_64bit.msi
rebooted
same problem...
i dont know how to make this fastboot mode detected again ....
Thx for help!
I had the same problem 2month ago with windows 8.
Instal sdk tools if you don't do that before or if it's always not working use an other computer because it's just a driver bug.

Just had the same kind of problem on Window 7 after playing with fastboot mode and various tools, this is how I solved it:
My XT890 in fastboot mode was recognized as "Unkown device"
=> I uninstalled the driver for this device.
My XT890 was thenidentified as "fastboot smi s" and would not install whatever I did
=> uninstalled "Motorola Device Manager" and "Motorola Mobile Drivers Installation 6.3.0"
=> reinstalled Motorola Device Manager (get it there : motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481 , sorry new users cant post links)
then I plugged back my phone in fastboot mode and Windows correctly installed the drivers
dont have the phone anymore, but thx for sharing your experience, might be useful if anybody meets this problem again in the future.
have a nice week.
Hi:
Just switching from Nexus 5 to Moto X XT 1097 so I´m a little unfamiliar with RSD.
The thing is I´ve tried phone detection in RSD Lite in both windows 8.1 and windows 7 with no luck.
I´ve downloaded drivers, treid different versions of RSD Lite, different ports, different USB cables, done a lot of reading and nothing...so as you can see I´m very frustrated ....
Any help please getting RSD Lite working?
Thanks!
Looking for an answer to this also
You need rsd lite 6.2.4 and moto drivers 6.4.0 . im assumming you have adb all set up on your pc. You will also need mfastboot

No 6.2.4 here...http://rsdlite.com/rsd-lite-download/
Do you have a link & to those drivers, I have the latest installed on Win 8.1
What do i do with mfastboot? I have downloaded it.
I thought you just launched RSD found firmware to flash, plugged in phone, adb mode & flashed?
What is the procedure?
Thanks

Once they are installed you have to put your phone into fastboot mode for rsd to flash. To make sure your pc sees your phone when in fastboot mode and connected to your pc open cp and type fastboot devices your device should come up. If it sees it then run rsd

Many many thanks sir. That all worked a treat.
I still have one problem that started all this, maybe you can help.....
When I try to get in to stock recovery, i get to the andriod guy laid down & press up/down buttons together for 5/10 sec & then press power button....Nothing happens.
I think my stock recovery is screwed, do you have any ideas how to get it back? Flashing etc?
Thanks Again
I sure your recovery is still there. I have problems getting into it most of the time as well. When andy shows on the screen i think its volume up then power. The timing has to be just right but i can never remember exactly.
