I've got exactly the same problem. I spent hours googling yesterday without any success. I've cleaned the cache, factory resetted, formated, installed new, tried backed up files from titanium and nothing helped. Does anybody know a way to fix it? Strangely, the video recording and taking pictures with the frontfacing cam works flawlessly. So I guess it's not the hardware.
It is not a hardware issue. I flashed back to JG4 and the camera is working again.
Since samsung pulled out JP6 in KIES (maybe due to error), I flashed to JPM via Odin. This froyo version did not kill my cam.

I've messed up my efs folder, and idioticly didn't back up, and now my phone doesn't work with my sim card, so I'm shipping it off to Samsung to get fixed up. But of course, I've rooted, used half a dozen different roms and firmwares, and I'm not really too sure how to cover up all my tracks.
I've unrooted using BackfireNL's method for Eclair, before upgrading to Froyo (just to make sure).
In my 'About Phone', though, three things are concerning me. my Baseband, kernal version and build number. My Baseband version is 'I9000XXJPP' and my build number is 'FROYO.XXJPO'. These don't seem very official looking to me. I've flashed the JPO rom from Samfirmware.
And, more worrying is my kernal version.
'2.6.32.9
root(at)sep-35 #1'
(I couldn't put an at symbol cause the system thought I was trying to post a link)
Surely it's not supposed to say 'root' all up in there, plain as day? Is there an official stock kernal I can flash? I've had a search, but I can't seem to find one.
Those are the correct settings for the JPO ROM.
I have exactly the same and haven't rooted yet:

Yesterday i started KIES and found out that there was an update available but i did not have enough time to update it so i cancelled the procedure. Now today i started KIES again again and it says that i already have the latest firmware. I am using Froyo XXJPY with Seed Mod Kernel K13C and Lag Fix enabled.
Can anyone guide me in this problem?
Seems that firmware was retired 'cause it has some bugs.
User are getting overexcited and Samsung have pulled 2.3 .

Ok. Thanks a lot for your replies. I was thinking that there might be something wrong with my handset. Does this have to do something with Apple lawsuit.
Also kindly let me know which one was the pulled version so that I can flash it through Odin.

I updated over the weekend to 2.3.3 and after an initial problem with the notification bar FC on start up, (fixed it with a cache wipe and data wipe from the three button boot loader menu) everything seems fine.
Was I just lucky or unlucky to get this update.
I'm on O2 UK but I had flashed 2.2.1 from samfirmware.com with odin.
It was a pre-mature push, and I don't think they will going to launch it before lauch of SGS 2, let's wait when they roll it again :-(
The answer is provide that Google had some issues with the update and got it pulled.

Hey guys, iv scanned the forum for hints and tips with my SGS since i got it a year ago and has always been very helpful, now iv hit a wall. I had the wonderful problem of trying to update the firmware and ended up getting bricked. So after scratching my head for a few hours and lots of huffing i sorted it. Anyway, i worked out how to flash it etc but now the phones gyro thingy wont work and i cant turn it to landscape and its now forever crashing and is now really slow. Help!?
Thanks

Feel allowed to learn and to try by youself
Try to re-flash same/different firmware with full wipe. That should fix the problem. Had same issues when were trying to downgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.2.1
Good luck.
You guys need a DUHHH smiley, i checked back to the firmware site i originally went to and discovered that i had picked what i think maybe like a universal firmware or something, scrolled back up the list and found the one for my network provider

Thanks very much guys

Why should something to convert? MIUI exelent flasher from rooted GB 2.3.6
What? I didnt get you?
I didn't converted I just installed this apk to check system details and I was having force closes on every app I tried cwm and cleaned cache and dakvik cache but it wasn't working. Can anyone tell why MIUI has force close issue? It start giving fc any time.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk 2
Yes it is normal. MIUI is based off Cyanogen mod which uses it's own file system (that yaffs you see there).
As far as i know you can't really convert yaffs to rfs nor there should be a need to do so. If you want to go back to a samsung based rom, all you need to do is flash one with odin by ticking the repartition option. Odin will restore samsung's partitions with their own file systems (RFS), no need to worry.
Just look up and follow a tutorial to do so, there are plenty about.
EDIT:
Just seen your latest post, search a bit dude, there are LOADS of posts around describing the force-close issue with cyanogen/miui roms. Solution is fast, simple and without loss of data, there is no need to return back to anything if that's the problem. To put it simple, one of your partitions (data) just ran out of space regardless of what that app says.
Yeah.. I flash into N7000DXLP9_N7000OLBLP6_N7000DXLP5_HOME.tar. Then I installed CWM and wipe data/factory reset. Unfortunately, it hang. So i took out the battery and turn it on and found out the phone's bricked. I tried reflashing the Stock ICS ROM but failed at factoryfs.img(Stuck at like 5% lol). Already tried opening in admin, compatibility mode(XP SP 2), changed usb ports and restarted the computer. Haven't tried on a different computer though. Any ideas? If it's possible, I don't wait to PIT the phone... It's not mine. Thanks in advance
The binary count is still zero and there is no warning triangle thing. After some research, is this the Superbrick bug? Never thought that ICS rom can be this risky....

Welcome to superbrick club. Your MoBo needs to be replaced. There is a workaround - see the general section.
If you have flash counter zero, then dont try anything and just send it to service centre and tell them this happened after Kies update, to reclaim your warranty.

Dont play around with the work arounds, there are no solutions, only work arounds.
Your binary count is zero, take it the service center and get the MoBo replaced under warranty. It will save you sleepless nghts... trust me.
Okay. Thanks for the feedback.
