I just used kies to update my firmware. I have a Bell (Canada) gt-i9000m (vibrant). The update left all my settings from the old FW and in no time at all my phone was force closing apps. Did a full reset and it runs nicely had to put back all my apn settings and stuff. The only thing that's changed with the new FW is that I cant change songs from my bluetooth car deck and I cant even play or pause anymore For me its kinda a huge deal cuz I put all my music on the phone to play in my car and it was all working so nicely i could even fast forward in the track that was a one up on my old iphone (with the old FW). Now none of my bluetooth deck controls are working I do see the 2 touch buttons light up on the phone when i push buttons on my car deck so the phone is getting the command its just not responding. Any Ideas would be most helpful.
The only thing that's different is that I haven't re-rooted the phone yet or applied the lag fix because I was having a lot of force close problems and did 4 resets so far (i assume due to the lag fix). I was hoping the new FW would fix more problems that it made... I didn't take note of the stock FW on my bell i9000m at the very least I would flash that back on to get my bluethooth controls back if anyone knows the stock firmware or how to make it work with the JH2 FW?
do a factory reset/format
then start with new settings, it will work after you pair the devices again
I did a factory reset when i upgraded the FW because of the force close error's but I didn't format. So I did another factory reset followed by a format of both internal and external. Took over 3h's to get all my stuff back on the phone and the bluetooth controls are still not working in the car.
From all the trouble shooting I've done its one of two things;
1. The firmware JH2 changed something with the A2DP profiles.
OR
2. I haven't rooted or done the lag fix.
Those are the only things that are different from before.
If anyone knows the stock FW for the i9000m (bell vibrant) and/or a link to download it. It would be most helpful.
I will try re-rooting and applying the lag fix but i have a hunch that's not going to make my car deck start working with the phone any better.
The car deck i have is a KD-BT1 (made by JVC). Just to be clear I was able to control my phone via the controls on the deck & its remote with the old firmware. I have deleted my paired phone and re-paired before and after factory reset & format.
that's very strange.
i've had that problem before, but that was expect of every new flash i made.
i always had to make the Car Deck (Clario CZ509) forget the old Galaxy S, then pair it again with the flashed Galaxy S, then it works all good.
else i get really weird behaviour on both phones and Car Deck
I can stream excellent audio quality to the car, with nice sub (no loss) and be able to control remote both phone and/or car from either the Car Deck, the SGS Phone, or the Remote control that came with the Deck
it automatically switch between phone calls and music
Sounds like i should reflash my fw. Do you have a link to where you got yours cuz kies is no longer seeing my phone... just hangs trying to connect. Its happened many times i know the uninstall drill to make it work but i've invested so much time into my sgs i rather use odin this time over kies.
I've un-paired and re-paired them agian and agian the pair up no problem and i make sure to check off the box that pops up to always allow my bt device to access contacts, ect. It all sync's up flawlessly just dont have control. The music streams very clearly for me also (2x10s subs).
Btw thanks for your very helpful responses!
I'm still thinking it might be cuz yours is rooted and mine still isnt. trying that before i jump the gun on another re-flash.
are you using the stock "Music Player" (w/ ugly pink icon)??
Update...
I rooted and did the one click lag fix. A2DP controls still don't work. I was able to use the car deck to answer, hang up, dail a number it got from my contact list! I'm not sure if those were or weren't working before... I was only really conserned with the music controls and they still dont work.
I also tried calling Samsung to see if they could help me out with why I always get the force close errors. No luck they told me to call my carrier i told them I bought the phone from a differnt carrier... I'm on Fido with Bell phone. Samsung said Bell has to get the RMA if i need one.
I've herd the lag fix helps bring to light any memory problems and creates those force close errors. This is one of my big underlying issues with my i9000m it crash's all the time. I've factory reset at least 5 times and once it crashed from google maps looking for an address and it got stuck on the boot logo. I had to wipe from the recovery menu just to call my friend when i was out side of his building for like 30mins (didn't know the buzzer #) I thought the instability was due to the root and lag fix but the phone runs a lot worse with out them...
(never dropped banged or any kind of water/wetness)
sorry if i got a lil' off topic but the phone is running worse over time...
The stock music player app (called "Music Player") doesn't respond to the standard AVRCP controls (A2DP is phone-audio-to-bluetooth, AVRCP is remote-control-to-phone). Most other music player apps will. Are you sure you were using the standard music player previously? Anyway the solution is to use a different music player app.
Yes i was using the stock player before it worked fine.
I will try another one. I have been thinking that maybe something was changed with the stock music player with the FW update or maybe i need to go settings->apps->Musicplayer and clear the data... Going to try both and post my results tomorrow morning. Getting to late to go out to the car... LOL
I had a look at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7980935 and thing maybe something did change with my AVRCP version.
I cant "1.0—Basic remote control commands (play/pause/stop, etc.)"
My stereo also has a phone mode that is working that lets me make calls and answer calls using the car stereo. I dont know if that is also AVRCP or just like a reg bluetooth ear piece controls.
Well I couldn't sleep till i tried it. I installed MixZing mp3 player and some of the mp3 controls work now. Play and pause and rewind track but It wont skip to next track. So it looks like you hit the nail on the head and something changed with the Music Player when I updated the firmware.
Does anyone have a rip of the stock Music Player apk from the old firmware?

That will be handsfree profile (HFP).
So its safe to assume something changed from my stock firmware to the one kies put on JH2 with the MusicPlayer app with regards to the AVRCP controls. I have yet to find a link of the stock firmware that was on my phone when I bought it, on the lunch date in Montreal.
Anyone got a link to the stock i9000m firmware from bell?
Thanks for all the help getting to the bottom of the problem.
Went to Bell store today to see if they could flash the old FW like Samsung told me they would. Guess what... they said they couldn't help because I "hacked" the phone even tho its Samsung's firmware. Apparently the use of Kies has voided my warranty.

I was until i changed it to "Player" that is the name of the app.
the Stock MP3 player that came with JH2 was really good, it had 5.1 sound, which other players app does not support yet.
the only reason i ditched it was due the annoying way how to add music to the play list, the new app is just Point to the folder you want, and click on select all/play all, done
when you are in the car driving, you have no fricking enough time to go select which album or artist or genre.
but playing off the Folder structure, you know where you put which songs, so you can quickly skip folders, fast forward, or reverse to reach the songs you want
all that aside the stock music player works well with the Bluetooth remote control options
i was using the stock music player for about a week in my car via bluetooth until i got annoyed of not being able to quickly pick from the SD card the songs i wanted to play

i think they meant the SIMs unlocked or the phone Rooted
since you are already on JH2 which is legit
Moving on to something more Vibrant
Update...
I got my phone back from repairs 2 weeks ago. They flat out replaced the phone for a new one. This was a huge headache for me because the new one wasn't unlocked. Took Bell 2 hours to get the new one unlocked wile my wife waited out side double parked downtown! (I thought it would be a quick pick up and I would be out) The blue-tooth works flawlessly again!!
Much to my dismay the replacement phone has started acting up much like my first one did. It gets several force close errors a day and has gotten to the point where it no longer can send or receive text messages (using Handcent). The stock Music Player app also force closes at random with more frequently. It looks like I got another Lemon. This time around I did NOT root, lag-fix, or flash firmware. I will be sending it for repairs as soon as I can afford to buy another phone to use wile this one is off at repairs. My back up phone is a 3~ year old Iphone3g that my son has made his... (cracked screen, vol rockers dont work, power button is jammed in, the LCD screen it self is bleeding on the top edge)
The Vibrant never let me down other than as a phone. As a divx player or using all-share it rocks! I use these features A LOT to play my 720p divx movies on any TV or the projector in the bedroom .
with that being said I might keep the phone just as a portable movie player to bring from place to place and put my sim in something more stable.

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone could help me with an issue I am having after my 1.5 update (non-rooted). After my update I played around with it for a bit and love it but I went to play with my bluetooth and I can't listen to music through the headset like it said it was suppose to do. I get a ringing noise when someone calls but no music thru it. Did I do something wrong with the manual update or something? If someone could help me I would truly appreciate it.
Also I was curious if its possible if I can root my phone after the update or is it not an option anymore? I been thinking bout it now and is loving the cool themes you can get.
Thank you so much for your time
i to have this problem from time to time
i manage to fix the problem temporary by going to the phone's settings > Wireless controls > Bluetooth settings > klick and hold the bluetooth device till a popup comes > Options > then toggle media off and on
then my headset works out fine
ps: i just repaired my headset as a test, witch i dint do after the update and it seems to work after turning off bluetooth and the device
ill give u an update if it works after a couple of times
Thanks for responding. I have tried for 2 days now to try to get it to work and I haven't gotten it to work yet. I kept my music running while trying to disconnect and reconnect the headset (motorola H690) and nothing and then earlier I got a phone call while I was listening to my music off my phone and I got a phone call and I answered it via bluetooth and when I got off the phone I could hear the music for a couple seconds and it shut off and started playing on the phone speaker. I don't know what the deal is.
i to still have that problem
i can start and stop the media from my bluetooth device but it will play on my phone
still when i toggle media off and on in the bluetooth device options it fixes it sometimes for 3 connects sometimes till the next session
what happens if u toggle media off and on with ure G1?
Yeah it still hasn't worked for me and I've done the same things you havei don't know what the deal is.
im not sure if this is the same problem but my g1 is rooted & i have it paired with my bluetooth in my car & when the phone rings... it rings through the car speakers but when i answer the call all sound comes thru the phone... same when i make a calll.. instead of it working thru the car speakers & mic it only wrks thru the g1 itself..
Exactly the same issue as i3lazen
My phone is totally standard running 1.5, just about to go and sell the phone and go back to my HTC Kaiser as it works with no issue.
I can stream music to my BT car stereo no problem but if I can't send and recieve calls then I'm stuffed.
If anyone has any advice, it would be appreciated as I'd love to keep my G1
Hey guys,
try the fix here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4177831&postcount=329
Thanks for the link but is that not just for improving sound quality and not a BT fix?

I had this issue with my rooted phone, and then I updated the radio to 2.22.19.26I and this fixed it. Not sure if this is related to the non root phones but it may be related to it if the radio wasn't updated in the upgrade to 1.5

I've got that radio on my non rooted phone but still have the BT issue
I've recently brought a new car stereo and bluetooth gateway - both of which connect to my G1 fine, however...
When I connect them (e.g. when they switch on, as both connect automatically), it starts the music player on my phone playing a random track!
This is becoming very annoying, as I typically listen to Podcasts, not music. So my question...
Is there anyway to stop this happening?
And/or automatically start BeyondPod to be the app that launches on a bluetooth connection?
Note: Am running Cyan 4.0.2 on G1, with JG-Cyan theme (default music player, with slightly different skin).
I am wondering if there is a way to stop this also. I have a Ford with the Sync system and when I call someone there will be music playing in the background until I shut off the music player. lol.
Mine is straight with the JVC KW-NX7000BT head unit. What are your guys spec? Are you rooted? What rom? And do you have the newest radio?

Not sure what you mean by 'Mine is straight'.
My head unit is a Clarion FB289, connecting to a rooted G1 with Cyan 4.02 Rom (with JG-Cyan Theme). As far as I'm aware I have the latest radio.
As the problem/action happens with two different BT devices, gotta be something to do with the phone/ROM (?)

When I said mine is straight just meaning mine doesn't act in the way you guys are having. Go to your settings on your phone and go to about phone and look what your baseband says. Most likely you prolly do have the newest radio but you just wanna check. Without having the newest radio you can run into BT problems.
It has done it not rooted, rooted with JF 1.5, cyan's 3.6.8.1 through 4.02, Hard and the 1.33.2005 SPL, always the latest Radio.
I guess it is the BT device.
New Development
I'm mainly using BeyondPod to listen to podcasts (go figure...).
But was playing with the settings following the last update, I realised that the 'enable headset buttons' wasn't 'on'.
Since switching it on, when I connect to bluetooth devices, it starts up BeyondPod, rather than the music player...
... better for me, would be nice if nothing happened!
+2 year old thread - same problem. Still. It's kinda funny, but then again it's really, really frustrating.
On the same token, cars usually request access to the contact list - and I've found that the phone allows this even if I don't explicitly allow it. If I happen to look at the phone right when the car system makes this request, I can see the notification and I get to "Allow" or "Cancel". But if I don't do anything, it automatically allows it. What gives?
This has to be a flaw of Android. It's a HUGE security risk too. I use rental cars frequently when I travel and I really don't want to give all my contact data to a car that has a new driver every other day or so.
I have a Motorola Atrix btw, not an HTC Dream. Maybe a mod could move this to a general Android forum.

If this does not work try the solution below. I just went out and trouble shooted with my radio. Seems like when I make the pair from the phone to radio I have the problem. When I make the pair from the radio to the phone its a non issue. The first phone I paired was my Galaxy note I went into the radio settings and searched for my phone; paired the phone and it maintains the connection perfect. When I switch between cd, aux and BT audio the phone stays connected. Calls come in voice switches to speaker and then after call if music is playing it resumes via what ever method it was playing pre call. ie CD, FM/AM or media app (pandora).
On my GS2 I tried making the connection from the phone first. ie making the phone seek the radio's BT signal. This is where I had problems. The stock music app would start after every call. ie send or recieve. I also got the annoying music starting everytime the device reconnected. ie the phone would dissconect everytime I switched the radio's input method between cd, aux or bt.
Soulution 1) Make the pair from your head unit and not the phone. Temporairly set your phone to visible and make the pair that way.
Solution 2) Headset block. Stops unwanted headset controls. In this case play on connect. Just remember to open app and hit the toggle button to on on your first use. found in the Play Store.
Solution 3) More of a work around. Media Button Router : App that lets you select what app you want to auto open on BT audio connect, or you can have it just display choices and cancel them out when you turn on the screen.
Both work well with the first being the better of the 2, but the second addresses you secondary criteria "or automatically start BeyondPod to be the app that launches on a bluetooth connection".
I think its solved now my this thread RIP. It frustrated the heck out me, but nowhere actually had a solution. Hope it does not come back in 4.0.
hi
Well Dec 2012 and I am still struggling with this...
I have a Subaru and a Subaru Factory radio with BT streaming. I cannot do "solution 1" as the car stereo does not have option to search for available devices.
The problem I have is not only the above but more...
0. I have the XXLSJ based Neatrom (Jelly Bean) on my galaxy S2
1. It automatically launches either "Power Amp" or the default JB music player. (earlier it used to do Power Amp, but lately it is doing the JB player)
2. I have switched off bluetooth controls in PowerAmp.
3. There is no option for switching off bluetooth in the default JB music player.
After I start the car, I usually switch on "google listen" and the try to play the podcast I want to hear,
next it starts playing and in a secon or two gets muted, (as some music app tries to autolaunch I guess)
then I do vol+ or vol- on the car stero and it starts playing the podcast, and then the phone freezes (hence it mutes again)
and I get a message "poweramp force closed" at this time if I am luck the bluetooth connection stays or sometimes
it resets, and then I have to go through the procedure again!
If I am lucky the bluetooth stays and I am able to listen to the podcast...
If I use the seek+ or seek- buttons on the car I can switch podcasts which is fine, but the Meta-tags shown on the screen are
not of the podcasts, they are still comming from poweramp. If I hit vol+ and vol- on the PHONE (not the car) then the meta-tags
switch to the next or previous song. Note that as the metatags switch I am still listening to 'google listen' and not poweramp.
I would have liked this to work cleanly.. but well...

Hey guys,
I've got a Kenwood KDC-BT945U car stereo and I'm curious what other people's experiences are using the bluetooth for music. For all of you using a bluetooth receiver in the car, when you play music, does the deck display the Song/Artist/Album/etc.? Mine plays fine. I can pause/play, skip forward/back, etc. The only problem is when it comes to actually displaying the information on the car stereo.
Any similar experiences?
Ps. Besides this problem, the deck is a great complement to the phone. If I can get this problem solved, I can stop using the USB altogether.
I was going to post a similar thread about my issues with the KDC-BT945U. Thanks for staring it. Are you running a custom ROM?
Music for me shows no tag info. My main issue is that foryo is a nightmare when it comes to this deck. Both the deck and the nexus has major pairing issues using froyo. I have not tried 2.1 stock or Cyan's 5.0.7, I assume they work fine. I am no expert, but I think it's the new Radio in froyo causing the problem.
Surprisingly, Paul's desire ROM and this deck work very well for me.
Checking the website, there is a Bluetooth compatibility section. They do not list the nexus. I'm hoping for a firmware update for the deck.
I do have a 30gb iPod in the glove box hooked up via the rear USB and it does display track info on the deck.
Yeah. In my infinite wisdom, I bought a ZuneHD rather than an iPod touch. . . The only Kenwood stereo I could find that was compatible with the Zune was like twice the price. Not exactly doable when I'm 28 days away from being a daddy. lol That said, I'm just using a jump drive for the USB. That's been working flawlessly, tags included. If I can figure out how to get the phone to transmit tag info, then I can drop the need to carry an mp3 player (or have a jump drive hooked up) altogether. I love listening to music from the phone while using the navigation, for the sheer fact that it cuts the music off to make announcements. . .just need to get it working right.
Edit. Btw, I an running eViL's latest FroYo. Noir Tri.

Same as you. Latest FroYo radio and 3.11 on the deck. Have since wiped and flashed Evil's latest Noir IV (FRF83 based) and still the same results. I have a 16 gig jump drive in there, so I have plenty of music. . . it just kind of sucks for the navigation piece. Phone calls are fine, because they'll interrupt any of the inputs. . . nav doesn't have that luxury. :-\
Thank you for the reply,
I have switch over to Kang-o-rama 0.9 Final (Froyo FRF83). My BT registering is a bit better, but nothing like Paul's R22 desire ROM was. With Paul's ROM, I was able to just keep my phone in my pocket at all times and when I started my car, as long as BT was turned on, my phone and deck synced every time. Now i'm lucky if it syncs at all. I have to constantly re-pair with the phone, and even that is very flaky.
Also, During audio, only 'BT audio' is displayed, no tags.

Unfortunately, the desire ROM does not display tag info.
Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that sending the tag info for songs over Bluetooth isn't currently possible. It's a limitation in Bluetooth though, not your head unit.
I have a stock Nexus One and a Kenwood KDC-X994 and after trying unsuccessfully to figure out how to get my song info to show on the head unit I contacted Kenwood about it. They informed me it wasn't currently possible to do this via Bluetooth and that it was Bluetooth that had the limitation, not my head unit.
On a side note, ever since upgrading to Froyo (stock) my phone will only stream music via BT to my head unit with the stock music app, and this is very aggravating. Seems to be an issue with Froyo from seeing other user posts about this topic. I sincerely hope Google fixes this ASAP!

not true, my blackberry storm 2 sends all the song info to my kenwood kdc-bt945u. so the problem is in the phone software not the hu or bluetooth

kenwood kind of pisses me off, i dealt with them a lot after i purchased the hd radio unit for the 945u. i was trying to find out why you cannot access the equalizer or any audio settings in hd radio mode (extremely annoying) he said you just cant. i wanted a more detailed explaination and he just made some bs up to get me off the phone. but yeah, just so you guys know, if you get the hd radio for you head unit you wont be able to adjust the terb/bass or anything on the hd radio src. all you get it the direct signal.
but does anyone know if this song info problem has been fixed? in an update or anything?
Hello all,
I would like to pose an observation to who ever the developers are for the 2.2 Froyo version for the Samsung Captivate (actual issue in bold/question italicized to skip the history). *A bit of history of what I have done with my phone* I have only had my phone for about a week now and when I got it it was 2.1. The phone worked flawlessly but I am a geek and I like to hack things to unleash it's full capacity.
Anyways, I updated using the AT&T updated way to 2.1v1 then Rooted my phone. WOW, what an improvement!!! Well I couldn't stop there when 2.2 was one click way using Odin 3 v1.30. This worked perfectly and BOOM, I now have v.2.2 on my phone. Flash works great, wireless tether works perfectly and all the other bells and whistles were all clicking together.
Before I updated to 2.2 (which for the Captivate is "unofficial"), I was able to plug my phone in using the Audio Aux port (for head phones) directly into my car stereo and use that as a sort of "Speaker Phone" while I was driving. The sound would come out of the car speakers clear and I could talk at a normal tone of voice while my phone was on the dash and the person on the other end couldn't even tell. After I updated to 2.2, the sound quality is at a whisper at full volume for the stereo. This only happens during a phone call, if I listen to Pandora or TuneIn, the sound is crystal clear.
I know that this is not the end of the world but it is extremely nice to use this when the phone is mounted and I am using one of the many great "driving apps" that are available for the Droid. The phone call is in the background and I see the Nav Maps or see speed traps using Trapster while I talk to my wife (I love this processor!!!).
I have also rooted my phone and that did not solve the issue. That was a long shot but it needed to be done.
OK, now here is the question, does anybody know how to fix this?
I am running 2.2 and use my phone's aux audio out for music but BT for phone. I will try and replicate your issue today. I am no dev but I'll see if it is an isolated incident or not.
Until then, a few questions to clarify:
1. have you tried testing the phone audio out with another device such as headset or home receiver?
2. What type of cable/adapters are you using? (3.5mm male to 3.5mm male)
3. Did you perform a master clear before going to 2.2
I'm having the same issue and will try to troubleshoot it so you know where to look. Plugging into my stereo is just like plugging into regular speakers/headphones. Going to revert my phone back to stock, do all stock update and then add this to it with the logging on. Probably won't have all the detail till this weekend.

Shovelhead84- 1) Yes, I have tried to see if the works with my computer speakers and the same issue is still occuring 2) it is a male to male cable (don't know the size but sounds like 3.5mm is the default so lets go with that) 3) No I did not do master clear before updating to 2.2 Froyo. I read that it wipes everything clean during the proccess so didn't really think that I should be now, of course, I could see why a master clean would be needed. I should have known. Oh well, you live and you learn and you share your knoledge.
makton3g- Thank you for your help. It sounds like you are going to put some realy leg work into this issue. Thanks. When you say "with logging on", is that something in SDK? I havn't began that journey yet, the SDK. so I have no idea what options are avalible...
I have this problem as well. Is there a solution?
I flashed Thriller before being able to test the bluetooth on the stock rom, but I've noticed when I'm connected to my Kenwood Deck's bluetooth in my car it's really hard to understand people half the time, their voices just have a staticy distorted noise.
I'm unsure if it's my phone, the rom, or just something I need to change in the settings. There's the possibility it's my car deck but I never had these problems with my previous phone on bluetooth.
Why don't you flash to stock, see if it makes a difference.

Bluetooth issues are the reason my signature doesn't say "Sent from my LG Thrill Faux G" anymore.
I could never find a Bluetooth fix that lasted longer than a week. Stock or Thriller. Doomed Froyo was after I left, but its based on Thriller so I doubt its different.

I would but I don't wanna erase everything and start over again. This is my first Android phone so I'm gonna ask a noob-like question here, but is there a way I can backup my phone as it is right now, flash AT&T stock, then flash Thriller again and restore the backup?

So your bluetooth also sounds distorted like mine? Are you using it over car speakers or a earpiece?
And it's still not fixed yet for you?
You can make a Nandroid back up in CWM, it will backup your entire phone, Apps, settings, everything. Then you can restore in CWM.
I wasn't having that specific problem, but remember a ton of posts about car Bluetooth issues. They never found fixes.
My issue was with a stereo Bluetooth headset. From what I understand they (stereo headsets and the car audio) both use A2DP to transfer data. My headset would drop its connection, and button presses no longer registered. If I was listening to music and a call came in, even if I didn't answer, I would lose the media connection. I would have to turn off the headset, turn off Bluetooth on the phone (sometimes at this point my phone would freeze and require a battery pull), then turn Bluetooth back on, and finally my headset back on.
My phone did this on stock, then I flashed Thriller and it stopped ... for a week. I reflashed Thriller and got another week.
This was the point when gtg bounced, and I had 3 days to exchange my Thrill. I had to choose: warranty swap the Thrill and risk issues on the new one (as I was not the only one with that issue) or swap for the Galaxy S II.
I have no doubt the Gingerbread update will fix this, plus battery issues. But, the update that was promised in October for the unbranded version was pushed to December, and the ATT version has no estimate what so ever.
If you have time to return for another device I say jump. If not I would keep getting warranty replacements through att. If enough come back with issues that might give some pressure to get the GB update pushed.

I love this feature of clockwork. So much better than the methods of flashing roms on my WM phones back in the day.
I actually ended up testing a bluetooth call on a friend's LG Thrill unrooted with the att rom still on it, and the crappy distorted bluetooth was there on his as well! Theres a possibility its a compatibility issue with my deck and this type of bluetooth but im not sure what it is yet..
