Flashing 2.2 Froyo to US T-mobile phone? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was reading the thread about the hack to be able to flash a ROM from another region onto your phone by changing some system registry values. Is it possible to use the Froyo 2.2 ROM from another region and the modem firmware from the released US 2.1 firmware package in order to flash a US T-mobile Vibrant phone and still have it function on the network, but be running the 2.2 OS? Would this work?

I believe that this version of 2.2 is only for the i9000 version of the galaxy s; the t-mobile version is T959.

[Q] what is the latest 2.1 firmware. i am on XWJM3 and i cannot update through kies

im currently on firmware XWJM3, and was wondering s this is the latest 2.1 firmware. my Kies says so, but somehow i dont believe it
It will be the latest non-test stable firmware for your exact phone based on the product code on your phone.
You can change the product code with a registry hack
If it makes you feel any better I'm on JF3 still as it is the latest firmware without changing any product codes
JM8 is latest EURO, But theres a newer one which I can't remember as its so new. Check on dev thread. All I remember is that its a branded T-Mobile.

Correct a newer firmware has been leaked but it's a T-Mobile firmware.

Also you will need to use ODIN to upload it, might not work for some people as they dont have 3 button download mode. Good luck

[Q] FRom Generic Froyo back to 2.1 Stock T Mobile UK

I used ODIN to update my T-Mobile uk 2.1 phone to 2.2 from Samfirmware it works fine apart from one one of my games. Is it possible to downgrade it back to Official 2.1 for T-Mobile UK via Kies ??
Currently I have:
PDA I9000xxjpm
Phone: I9000xxjpm
CSCi9000oxajpm
Build info: 2010. 10
What Reg information do i need to get Kies 1.51 to think its T-Mobile Uk again and install stock 2.1 ROM on it ???
I'd like to know this too. Except I am on Carphone Warehouse 2.1 and deciding whether I want to go on the T-mobile software.

[q] galaxy s newest optus firmware?

Hey all these firmware codes are so confusing and whatever but can someone tell me what the newest official Optus firmware aswell as the best modem and CSC for reception I can't update via Kies for some unknown reason even though i installed a supposably official optus ROM :S help is appreciated
Update to what through Kies .2.3.3 is only released 15.4.11 and yet to roll out across all areas .
The rom you installed how is it an official optus rom was it branded optus or did you just update to a stock Samsung rom via Odin .
Kies only produces an update for branded network provided phones if it finds the correct product codes not from stock rom .

[Q] Can I install I9000UGKG3 on International SGS i9000?

Hi! I would just like to ask if i can install I9000UGKG3 (Bell official GB firmware) to my international SGS i9000. I understand that I9000UGKG3 is for i9000M. The reason why i'm asking this is because i need a firmware for my phone that supports 850mhz as i am now in Canada.
I don't mind installing a more latest version of GB that supports 850mhz as well if someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
You only need to install the UCKG3 modem to get 850Mhz not the whole ROM.
Just flash the ZIP in CWM, you may need to enable 850Mhz in service mode
