I am having a problem with my Galaxy S GT-I9000. I bought it from Bell Canada, which means it is a vibrant. And due to the lag and freeze of the Bell's system, i decided to flash my phone to Froyo 2.2. It was really sucessful when I was doing my flash.
Here is some info about the firmware I use:
I used Odin 1.3, PIT: s1_odin_20100513
firmware:
CODE_I9000XXJPC.tar
MODEM_I9000XXJPC.tar
CSC_I9000OXAJPC.tar
I have no idea what version it is, I just followed a guide from Internet, but it said it is a European pack.
Here comes the Problem, the phone is working very vell for the first 10 days, no freeze issue anymore. But suddently one day, the screen went to black( I was not using the phone at that time, and when I started my random check of the phone, the screen turns off).
After I start up the phone again, the loading screen is still there, and there is sound, too. But after the big "S", the screen turns black again.
And when I pressed the home button, the Menu and ESC key turned bright, after this I think the phone is freezed, but I can still hold the Power key for a while to turn off the phone.
I tried to flash my Galaxy with other firmware, but it all show the same problem---
loading screen, startup sound, but the screen turn black after that.
If any of you could help me with this problem I will be really appreciate!!
And by the way, the 3-key combo is still working on my phone.
So I can still enter the recovery mode or the downloading screen...
And I tried everything on the recovery mode screen, factory reset, wipe, formate SD...everything, but no luck
Really need help..!
Try flashing to JM9 using the 512.pit with re-partition and do a factory reset and wipe cache when done: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=802909
Then try flashing to JPM using 803.pit and tar file as PDA only and no repartition, do a factory reset and wipe cache when done: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=807886
You used the 513.pit file in your previous flash, I think that it is old and not used any more.
I tried everything u said, step by step, but still not working, dunno why,
and after I flash JM9 with 512, the phone wont go into recovery mode anymore
and there is no loading screen anymore, just a logo of the Galaxy S GT-I9000 Samsung and the phone turns off.
So I decided to ignore this and flash JPM with 803 as you said , and the problem is still there, loading screen and sound, then nothing happen.
I had exactly the same problem and i have done exactly the same steps then i realized someone took out the Sdcard.
Have you check the SDcard. if in there try to format first in other phone or computer.
You fried the internal sd card, I did the same, I'm not covered through samsung or bell cuz I'm unlocked on rogers, I took it to a cell phone repair place, cost me 65 bucks to get a new motherboard, no more flashing roms for me

Try going in to recovery mode and post any errors that appear at the bottom of the recovery screen. it would help us find put what is really wrong with the phone.
find out what firmware bell originally had on your phone rather than JM9.

if you plug in an external sd card, you will be able to access recovery mode again. i was in the same boat, and it is a corrupted/fried sdcard. i gave up after flashing 30 different roms and sent mine in for repair.

Hey guys.
Ok so what happened was that I updated to Froyo and it worked perfectly, had it rooted and installed lag fix. Couple of days later it would boot, go past the samsung logo but then nothing. I would be staring at a black screen and when i press the middle button the two buttons on the side would light up. Now i am not able to go into recovery mode but I can go into download mode. Now I have tried flashing the phone. I tried going stock, stock for other countries and also reflashing froyo 2.2. The most successful is froyo because once I have reflashed and reboot for the first time, it goes into recovery mode telling me it is having problem with a couple of things, one of them being the internal sd card, which is fixed by me doing a sd wipe but the next one is a data error, i think it was called dadata but i am not sure, have to double check. Now i cant get that error to go away even by doing a factory rest and once i reboot the phone, it goes back to the state i mentioned before. Plz can any one help?

Follow this guide.
If you still get error try finding a rom from samfirmware that has pda modem and csc then flash them with odin3 v1.70.
Sounds like you have a bad internal sd. You may have to take it back for warranty

ya so it says that it has some problem with dbdata and that it cant mount internal sd card. Am I screwed?

Ok i have just managed to solve a similar problem on my phone..
donwload the file from this link (it's from samfirmware)
add in all
code file into pda, modem file into modem and csc into csc
and add in the 803 pit make sure repartition is checked.
If that doesn't won't i can't help no more..
Any success?
No my friend, no luck. Thanks for the help though. Any one else have any other suggestions?
I have the same problem with my other i9000m. No amount of flashing with odin with whatever firmware helped. I took it into a local 3rd party repair shop. They have fixed 10+ corrupt sd card phones. They said they needed to keep it for one day which tells me its not just a simple flash job. Maybe they have some sort of jtag setup that allows them to reformat the flash chip or something.
Or maybe they are actually removing the chip off the mainboard and reformating it. Whatever it is they are doing, its worth the $70 to get my phone working again. There is definately a fix out there though. And at $70, it's just for labour. They're definately not replacing parts.

Have one last try with the jf3 firmware with the 512 pit.. again in odin v3 1.7 code in pda..modem in modem and csc in csc there are two not sure which is better i tried oxa..
JF3 Link
If that doesn't work then yer i guess your only option is take it into a shop.. or send it back to samsung to see if they will fix it for you.
Got an at&t tab here, I upgraded to JM6, flashed the modem, and rooted it, all was well, untill I realized that I couldnt get into recovery to wipe. So I went into d/l mode, and couldnt get out, loaded up Odin3 and attempted to flash the bell modem again just to get it to reboot. Well it froze up, and now all I get is a communication error picture: "phone ----- !-----PC"
Help please, its brand new and going to be sold
From my experience you can power off the unit, put it in dl mode again flash the Bell modem with no partion, no pit and with reboot selected and it should do a regular startup!
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
I lost d/l mode. But somehow the second time I attempted to flash JM6 with odin, while seeing this error message, it worked. So its working again.
But I have no recovery anymore is this normal?
UPDATE. Seems after JM6 I have no recovery and no bootanimation(have sound). I get a black screen with a thin vertical line on the right side of the screen. Any advice would be great
The phone --!-- computer problem is solvable.
Power off your phone, and power it back on with holding the volume down button, when you see the --!-- sign release the buttons.
You are now in download mode, although you cant see the little android with the shovel. Connect it to a pc with an odin 1.7 open and you will be able to reflash it.
When I got the error picture: "phone ----- !-----PC" after messing with JM6, I just reflashed it at that screen with the full JM6 package. I dont think you can downgrade from JM6...
I just flash pit file at the phone ----- !-----PC screen then when it reboots it will boot loop. Turn it off then hold vol down and power then when the screen turns on let go of power button but still hold vol down. That will get you in download mode. You can downgrade form JM6 but you have to try 3 to 6 times before it will work. JM6 to jj4 then at&t rom is how I do it.

Cmon guys, read the thread. I got the error fixed, now I have no recovery or boot animation.
Does the tab boot up at all? if it does you can try and do a factory reset from settings and see if that clears it up. You will loose all your settings and third party apps but this seems to be a requirement after flashing

You need to tell us what filename you flashed and what .pit file if any you partitioned with.
It sounds like you flashed P1000OXAJM6.tar without partitioning which is probably not going to work.
Never put the phone into download mode unless you have a file ready to flash.
Flashing the file in my sig will probably fix your Tab.

I followed the instructions in the OP of the JM6 thread, and flashed the files that I was linked to in the OP. I checked the box to partition. After I flashed the bell modem as I am on At&t. Then I rooted via SuperoneClickv1.5.5.
Now I have no recovery or boot animation.
I was already d/ling your file to check if that fixes anything.
Ok I tried your(rotohammer) file, and still no luck, it did save me from the root proccess tho.
adb reboot recovery, and adb devices will show the device is in recovery, but I have a backlit screen with a thin line down the right side of it. Which is the same thing I see during boot, after the at&t image.
At startup I will see this screen untill I press the lock button twice, first time shuts the screen off, and second unlocks as normal.

better yet here is the link http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/T-Mobile/ATT_Stock.zip
can someone help me please...
i have tried flashing my phone countless number of times with odin, using pit.512/513/803 with a number of different firmwares, also select and unselecting the partition/reboot and reset time, but still no luck
it says passed and completed but when rebooting it either stays on the galaxy s gti9000 screen and blinks every 5-10 secs or it comes up with the circle loading thing witch stays forever..
also tried with the 3 files flashing code, modem and csc files but same problem..
am i doing something wrong?
i have no idea what to do now but to send it back to samsung again
Is it stock firmware you're trying with?
this is all the firmwares i have tried flashing with
I9000XWJM8
I9000XXJM4
I9000BVJJPD
I9000DTJG4
I9000DTJP5
I9000UGJL2
I9000XXJPC
I9000OXAJPC
I9000XXJPM
what i cant believe is that ive tried all of them and it does finish flashing but when i turn it on it just stays on the galaxy s screen blinking on and off. the same scenario cant get into recovery but i can get in download mode again...
really lost :S

thanks mate, but i followed the steps exactly on that post but still nothing!! it passes with odin but when rebooting it just stays on the galaxy s gti9000 screen :S
lol i seriously dno whats wrong with it
Hate to break it to you but sounds like you're phone is dead.
Can you get into recovery mode? With the phone off press vol up + home + power.
The screen isn't blinking, its trying to load an OS, then failing to load it (probably due to dead internal SD) then rebooting and showing that screen again. I just had to send mine in for repair for the same reason.
yea only download mode, recovery mode not working.
i have sent it back to samsung for repairs.
So here't the full background, it's not long, please read:
http://www.darkyrom.com/community/i...-bricked-my-sgs-wonder-what-i-did-wrong.2032/
Long story short, it looks like I bricked my SGS when trying to flash with Odin, even though I followed the tutorial very closely. When I power up the phone, it just gives me the image with phone, exclamation mark and PC on it. It does, however, go into download mode when powered up with VolDown and center button.
How do I save it? Do I need the JIG (God, please say no! )
Have you tried reflashing with odin.
Jig is only needed when you cant get into download mode.
Also i just looked inside the darky rom topic.
Have you flashed the jvk rom first with the bootloaders?
Edit: as said below. If you gonna reflash, flash a stock rom. Not the darky rom. First priority is to make your phone work.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA Premium App
Yeah, you have download mode.
Now, fire up Odin and load a few rom files into it, connect the phone and see if the PC still recognises it. (Do not flash, Just a test)
If so...
Flash a stock rom.
Somehow, I was able to flash it with Odin in Download Mode this time. Phew! I read somewhere that the flash might fail if You're using wrong USB port. At first I connected my phone to a eSATA/USB combo port, and for the second time (after brick) I tried a normal USB 2.0 port in my laptop. Maybe that's what made the difference, I have no idea.
Anyway, I'm running stock Samsung 2.3 rom and am trying to install Darky's 10.0 RC3 on it - I am running into some problems, but thankfully they're much less serious than the brick that I was able to fix.
Thanks for Your help!
I ran into similar problems last week. A rom wouldn't flash, so I gave it an hour and it proceeded nowhere. Had to pull the plug on it.
Sometimes it just takes a few times plugging and unplugging repeatedly until it just happens to get detected by Windows. Maybe just a bit of luck too
Congrats on your recovery.
Just wondering which stock 2.3 rom did you use and which Odin setting you used to get your phone up and working again.
Here is my post / problem, seems similar to yours
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1020223
Thanks
I had the same issue like warnec on my first darkyy flash, finally everything went fine...don't worry!
just try to reflash with odin (maybe going for a stock version first is a good idea), be sure to do everything as mentioned in the guides out there. and be sure your computer works stable, maybe you want to quit some tasks in the background (however it should work even without but something crashed my odin once...)
Reflash with Odin to make your phone work again. I suggest using a stock 2.2.1/2.3.3 ROM. It is important that it consists of the 512.pit file, a PDA file, a Phone file and a CSC file. The ROM must have bootloaders included!
Now, disconnect your phone and turn it off.
Start Odin and load all the files. Tick 'Repartition'.
Start your phone in Download Mode by pressing Vol-Down, Home and Power.
Connect it to your PC and wait for Odin to say 'Added!'.
Now hit Start, wait 2-3 minutes until it is done and your phone should succesfully reboot!

does not sound very good...could you solve your problem yet?
Had to take the phone into Bell. Waiting on return of it and currently using a loaner HTC Desire Z from Bell.
Hi there, I am new to this forum as I am trying to fix my gf's Samsung Galaxy S i9000M on Bell.
I tried to search up boot loop and have tried a few different ideas on the board but it doesn't seem to work.
Would like to know if anyone can help.
Here are the specs: Samsung Galaxy S i9000M - unrooted / stock.
Problem: The phone when turned on will only show the "Samsung Galaxy S I9000M" screen. It will turn black and then reloop itself. I have tried the 3 button boot to "download mode" and have successfully connected to ODIN.
I have tried to download PDA/Phone/CSC from one of the pages on this forum containing North American firmware files.
However, the problem still persists! I cannot check the OS version as I can't get the phone to boot into the OS. Is this a bootloader corruption problem? What should I do to try to fix this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! THANK YOU in advance.
I assume you want Gingerbread?
If so, you want the UGKG3 download from Bell (it's the only GB ROM from Bell to date).
Go here and search for UGKG3.
The file is in 7Zip format. If you do not have anything to unpack it with, download IZArc.
Thanks for responding so quickly.
I did try the GB firmware - flashed it with ODIN - the software says successful.
But once the phone boots - it goes back into the loop - it does not know to unpack the OS to try to install and boot into it....
Any other ideas? Thanks again!
Did you flash it as a single file or 3 files?
You need to unpack the 7Zip file so you end up with 3 files:
Select PDA_UGKG3_Sbl.tar.md5 for PDA
Select CSC_BMCKG3.tar.md5 for CSC
Select PHONE_UGKG3.tar.md5 PHONE
Then flash with Odin. That should get the phone up and running again.
---------- Post added at 11:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:17 PM ----------
How long has she had the phone? I wonder if she was on Froyo or GB.
Can you get into the recovery menu?
Thanks for your response.
I have unpacked all three files and loaded it into ODIN as per the firmware upgrade instructions on the thread you provided me.
I have also tried loading in both both the GB and the Froyo versions (UGKG3, UGJK3). After the "successful" message on ODIN, the phone boots up - shows the Samsung Galaxy GT I9000M screen and then goes black and keeps looping again.
I have a feeling this made me a problem with the bootloader. If the phone is completely stock, which one should i try flashing?
As the phone is stock there isn't a recovery (CWM) that i know of.... Or am I incorrect?
thanks again for your help!
OK, thanks for the clarification.
There should be the stock recovery from Samsung (2e or 3e).
Yes, it does sound like a bootloader problem.
Is it still under warranty?
EDIT: What is the build date for the phone? There will be a number in YY.MM format under the battery.
See if you can get into the recovery and try to clear the cache. That may give an indication as to what is going on.
We've had the phone for a year and a few months, so no more warranty.
In fact, we brought it back to bell store and they said there is "no way" the phone can be fixed. (yea right).
So I see a bunch of bootloaders in the forum here. Are there specific ones that work for the GT i9000M on bell? Or since I've tried flashing gb on the phone, do I need to download one that is specific to the OS? sorry as I am quite a n00b at this.
thanks!
The 3 file ROMs include a boot loader.
The GB one for Bell only includes the secondary bootloader (sbl.bin).
Bell no longer sells the i9000m, so they are hoping you'll simply buy a new one.
Your GFs phone is a couple of months older than ours. I bet the phone is one of the ones that has the issue where the internal storage is known to fail (builds prior to 11.03).
If that's the case, I think Samsung may repair/replace it, since it's a known issue with the early i9000m phones.
Did the phone get updated via Kies recently?
thanks again for following up.
How do I test if the phone's internal storage failed?
No I have not tried to update the phone via KIES. How does this work and what will it do?
Thanks!
Going into recovery and clearing the cache might show it.
If you see an error message that it can't mount something, that would be an indication.
EDIT: What's the build code?
I can't get into a recovery mode because the phone doesn't have CWM nor can I get by even the Samsung screen when it first turns on.
How do you flash via KIES? All I can do is get the phone into download mode. Can't do anything more.
Thanks.

I have the same issue and still trying to find a solution.
Can't get into recovery. From most of what I read it's the boot loader. But I may be wrong, I 'm very new to this. I flashed with I9000UGKG3-homebinary with no luck. I did not however try the Sbl.bin file yet. I can still get to the Download mode and don't want to loose that ability.

although you do not have CWM you should have a stock recovery... I know you have probably already tried.. but try again.
Menu+Power+Volume up...release only the power button as soon as the initial screen disappears.
if you do get into this screen you can do full wipes...
--pm me if you live in the Toronto area
It also might be a boot loader problem depending on what version of of android you were on and what you tried to do with odin and if you had the right version with the bootloaders etc.....

As dlockhart said, you should have the stock recovery on the phone.
Since you can get into download mode, you should be able to get into recovery mode by pressing volume up+home+power button.
Flashing through Kies only works if your phone will actually boot.
Since the phone is constantly boot looping, i tried to go into the stock recovery mode multiple times with the volume up + menu + power combination. Tried releasing the power button when the words are on the screen, when it is blank, and other permutations - but i cannot get into the stock recovery.
Once i press the volume down button instead though, i can quickly jump into download mode.
Is this normal? or am i doing something completely wrong?
Is there another way to get into stock recovery mode?
Don't release the power button until you see the recovery screen.
maybe also try flashing another kernel?
Boot loop on stock Bell GT-I9000M
I have tried to get to the recovery screen also with varied timing on button presses and releases, but no luck. Vol down and power gets me to download screen every time though.
I would keep trying the volume up power and home and as soon as you see the black background with galaxy showing let go of all buttons but wait until you see it restart again. So you'll hold vol. up + power + home and your phone will restart and you'll see the galaxy words keep holding the buttons until it restarts again and when you see the words let go of all three buttons. Now if your willing to switch kernels I would go to www.darkyrom.com and follow the directions there for flashing darkyrom 10.4.2 its just as smooth as stock but its not stock and voids your waranty, but since you dont have a waranty go for it. Good luck if you need any extra help you can pm me as well. I have had my phone since Oct. 2010 and flashed atleast a hundred roms and thought i broke my phone a few times but these thing are damn near impossible to totally mess up.

Is there a minimum remaining battery-life requirement for the device to enter Recovery?
Does the 3-button Recovery require power cable to be attached or not?
For what its worth, my I9000m has a Build Date of 11.04 and came with Froyo 2.2, so unless he already updated he's definitely not on 2.3.3
Downloading Kies to your PC and updating to 2.3.3 that way, just might work. Thats what I did.
