Hi.
How come us European users can flash our European gt-i9000 to the Chinese version, but we cannot flash to the Korean version?
Does anybody here know how to flash the Korean DH09 version (or the newer Korean DI29 Froyo version) onto the European phone?
I understand that the Korean Galaxy S is slightly different hardware-wise, but it should be possible with a little hack, shouldn't it?
The Korean firmware has a few very interesting additional features such as native conversation recording for instance (which should be included in all versions if you ask me)
Hardware-wise the Korean Galaxy S isn't much different from the European one. These are the only differences I could find:
Korean:
Digital Media Broadcast: T-DMB digital tuner Pull-out antenna
Analog Radio: Not supported
European:
Digital Media Broadcast: Not supported
Analog Radio: FM radio (87.5-108MHz) with RDS radio reciever Proprietary headset as antenna
The unofficial Korean DI29 Froyo firmware can be downloaded from here
Does anybody have some information regarding this?
bump bump bump
Well, I'm downloading the link now. If call recording is part of the phone apk, which I hope it is, I'll try to extract it. Hopefully then it will install (and work) on our euro phones.
EDIT: Ok, here is the extracted phone.apk + phone.odex from that firmware. I don't know if phone_util or anything else is required...
If anyone wants me to extract other files, I can do.
I'm too weary to brick my phone, so i won't try to push these files to my phone. I don't really understand deodexing and whether it is necessary before pushing phone.apk, or whether the odex needs to be deleted...
From my limited knowledge... it might work if you use root explorer (or equivalent), remove phone.odex, and overwrite the old phone.apk with this korean one.
Hopefully someone with better knowledge can work on this.
p.s. No responsibility for any bricks/damage that may occur.
thanks for giving it a try!

Hi,
This Australian Froyo would also be interested in call recording. Did anyone find a way?

hi bro, this is only an advise or suggestion.. or educated guess..
since the M100S is found in ASIA.. i guess, you can download the ASIA firmware from the website below and use the latest firmware available.
http://samsung-firmware.webs.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungi9000.htm
**you must be registered to be able to download the firmwares available on the site.
Do take note that your phone does have that antenna feature and korean custom content.. if you do update your firmware to the EU/EURO version.. you might lose the application to be able to use it unless there is a special menu under Settings to configure and use it.
i got a problem with firmware version
i got a problem with firmware version

Isn't Korean phone version slightly different having a TV tuner built in?
Better check if you can easily flash a firmware.
go: http://matpclub.com/board/index.html?id=tipn&no=3
download tools.zip (contains ODIN3 and CSC file for M110S)
follow directions found on XDA or Samdroid -
might be a good read: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725407
Hi,
I am glad I found this site, excellent source of information.
I have a question regarding updating firmware on the Samsung Galaxy S i9000.
My phone currently has firmware I9000XXJF3, looking over at samsung-firmware it seems that the latest version available is I9000XWJM2
My question is, will my phone be compatible with this firmware version? should I not go beyond the I9000XX releases? Languages don't mean much to me personally because I only use English (hopefully XW has it!)
If I do install I9000XWJM2 will the other 'tutorials' work for me as well? (the lag fix, etc)
Your help is appricated!
those XX doesn't mean anything related to the specificity of the model (i9000). In other words, yes, you can flash the new firmware without problems. In general you should make sure it's for i9000, but not in the name of the firmware, cause it's rather confusing. You should look for a thread of this firm and check it's for your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733368
Yes, tutorials still works!
hi guys

Yes there is.
22.Can I flash an Asian ROM on my European device or vice versa?
Flashing should work without any problems. There are no known compatibility issues as of now. If any should arise, flashing back to Asian firmware is always possible.
Check your current ROM by dialing *#1234* to make sure you do not have a Korean variant of the phone (which is NOT compatible!).
Actually its not my concern if you read my post I've included my firmware and radio
PDA:M110S.DG14.0001
PHONE:M110S.DG07.1842.ST
It's different from all the firmware listed its from Korea so I want if I can make it to i9000JXXXX like that not this korean firmware

Go ahead and flash , then post your resutls here
It's not really easy. That's why I'm asking if there are other people who try to flash on this korean version of SGS. I would love to flash this but if it gets bricked you are the one who will replace it

Now im lost, I thought you were able to confirm that your SGS is different from the one that comes from korea despite it being "Anycall" thats why I posted the quote.. altho I understand the step says Asia to Euro but the note at the end says make sure your not using a korean version of the phone, then you said that is not your concern.
The step may refer flashing an Asian FW to a Euro handset but it clearly states that you are not able to flash X FW if your handset is from Korea.
But yeah at the end of the day, its not yet possible to change the FW on a Korean based handset.
Sorry for that, I also got lost. So it solves my problem and I'm stuck with these korean firmware. Is ther a possibility of root?
As Per this site in pages 8 and above
they confirmed that they use superuse+su+busybox by using Odin3
http://forum.samdroid.net/f49/superuser-su-busybox-i9000-v-2-01-07-2010-a-1355/
Anyone can confirm?
I'm too annoyed with this different firmware
Thousands of devices have been rooted in Korea, but it's hard to find support here for the device. Do a Naver search for "갤럭시s 루팅" or go to matpclub.com
I'm at matpclub.com
lucky for me, it's hard to understand and translation is not good
Agreed, but if you can find the file that contains odin and the update.zip everything else seems fairly like every other rooting system. Unfortunately, I deleted the file and the link after I was unsuccessful getting my device into recovery mode.
Here is the link for root. But I can't download the Msuper.zip

I'm too nervous to do this since my phone got no warranty and i'm not in korea

So for Anycall SGS user like me will have to stick with the Korean ROM? there are apss that I don't need and the sms is limited to 80 characters
this is just for now
once we consolidate everything, we should be able to make cross model compatible ROMs
see topic

right now it's just a big mess, and we are lacking support for some models
sir please give tutorial upgade my galaxy S (shw-m110S)
android froyo ke gingerbread
Hello all,
got a Vodafone branded German samsung, with the following firmware (Froyo):
Code:
PDA: I9000BUJP7
Phone: I9000BUJP5
CSC: I9000GVD2JP5
build info 2010.10
I want to use it at Greece (locale: "el"), with official firmware if possible. Preferably, I'd also like to debrand the phone. Unfortunately I'm a complete novice here, all my experience with firmwares etc come from HTC Magic.
Which would be the "best" official Gingerbread firmware for me and how should I go about installing it? Directly? Flash first to an interim let's say firmware, like a German, but debranded one?
Any specific info will be most appreciated...
First of all:
- it doesn't matter from which firmware do you come from. As long as you flash with ODIN (there are some excellent guides here), this doesn't matter.
- what do you mean with "debrand"? Just a firmware without the provider stuff? Or do you want to unlock your phone, so you can use different sim cards?
- Regarding gingerbread, i suggest, you use the JVB - it works quite well. If you want to apply themes and lots of patches, you can try an deoxed one, otherwise (for normal use and apply of little less) get the "normal" one.
FYI: i flashed from an austrian (original) 2.1 to a english 2.2 to a german 2.2.1 to a norwegian 2.3.3 as most of the time a lot of languages are included and you don't leave the continent (use european firmwares) you should be on the save side.
Kind regards,
ww
Thank you my friend for your prompt reply.

The phone is already unlocked, it's the former I want to do. Specifically, I want to (a) remove all vodafone specific functionality, apps, startup logos etc and (b) have the phone better set for Greek operation. For example, even though the current firmware allows for Greek characters I can not search the phonebook fast by first character in Greek, only with the latin character

Just starting up here, so normal is the name of the game for now
You are referencing "JVB". I can only presume you are referring to I9000XWJVB? Is so:
1) Which CSC should be used. (and what is that CSC and pit etc?)
2) Does this firmware contain support for Greek? Asking this because according to samfirmware, "XW" is for "de,en,es,fr,it,pt,tr(pl)". No el (Greek) support?
Sorry again for the questions, bare with me for a little while longer please

Best i would start with JVA. I had a look here and it seems, that this is the only rom right now with greek input and swype support.
Also in this thread you will find appropriate guides.
Good luck

Thanks again for the information provided my friend, all my best wishes to you
Hi and sorry for my english

I've downloded Spirit2 ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77881150&postcount=5079 ) but ask me the root, insn't there another way whitout root? There in no way for installing radiofm stock of Samsung or Google to work?
The phone is new and not mine and i wouldnt'like unlock bootloader immediately.
Thanks

That's a bluetooth-like protocol for connecting to fitness devices, etc. It has nothing to do with tuning FM radio.
Hi, Im in the same situation where samsung radio app doesn't exist at all even after updating from android 10 to 11. tried to install apk file manualy, cannot install. I'm on italian stock firmware too.
beside root, I guess I will flash a different stock firmware (of annother country).
please if you found a solution by now, kindly share with me
Hi Dear, it may be too late as it been while that you have posted that. anyways sharing solution so anyone in the same can know ... actually it depends on the firmware region (not talking about android version) ... i was on stock italian ITV firmware either android 10 or 11 no FM radio and no way to insall any app nothing works ... I tried randomly other firmware Morocco MWD and by default Samsung Original FM Radio was there, exactly same options same everything, just that FM is working fine too
