[Q] Whats a good app giving security for photos & video clips - Captivate Themes and Apps

Can anyone recommend a good application (preferably free) that enables us to have a secure section for photos, videos and documents?

Hide it pro is pretty good. It shows up as "audio manager" in the app drawer so no one will know the difference.

Search for Vaulty in the market. I know it hides pics and videos and can be password protected, not sure about documents though.

wow... if you really need to hide something then don't put it on your phone.

Or do what I did...put 3 ... Before the file folder and it hides the folder and content. And then when you wanna view just enable hidden folders in the settings and bam there their for ya.
...jeepers creepers mofo.s...

RR File Locker will do exactly what you're looking for.

[Q] How to hide files in Galaxy S?

Hello everyone.
I was adding some files to the Galaxy S. Now I want some of them to be hidden so that they do not show in gallery or video player (incase of videos) for everyone and I can make them visible when I want them. Is it possible? If yes can someone please tell how to go about it or is there any app for it?
Regards
keep a blank file with the extension .nomedia in the folder that you want to exclude from media scanning..
You could also use "Vaulty Free" app that moves selected images and videos into a virtual vault which then requires a password to open and view. This also ensures that they do not show up in gallery and video player.
Hope this helps.
put the files you want to be hidden in a folder, and put a dot '.' before the name, like this:
.folder
this will hide it if you have, 'show hidden files' unchecked in options

I tried vaulty free. It looked to be a good app which would do the job but somehow when I locked videos through vaulty free they showed as "Images" in the vault! which wouldnt play. Also it took quite some time for 1 video too be transfered which was about 40 mb. So I guess it would take too much time if the quantity and size is large.

I had known about the nomedia trick but it displayed the files in the "my files" option. Adding a . before the name looks promising.
When done with nomedia file I guess it would solve the purpose. Would have to try this combination.
Thanks for the help folks.

The default action when you login to Vaulty is to display the stored images. Click Menu --> Videos to see and play the videos. Yes it does take a long time to transfer large videos.

Did that but it doesnt show anything when "videos" is selected and when images is selected files are show but they dont play!
Strange!! It works for me perfectly. I am assuming that you are able to play those videos outside vaulty using the stock video player.
How did you add the videos to vaulty?
The way I added is while the video was playing in the stock video player --> Menu --> Share Video --> Vaulty Free.
The only issue I have with Vaulty is I can play only one video at a time after which I will have to reenter the password.

Hmm yeah that is strange indeed. The videos work fine in the stock player but arent recognised in the vaulty free. It may work again if I reinstall the app but I will first try the other method as I would have large no. of files and adding them with Vaulty would take much time and as you just said it wont help if I have to enter the pass again and again after watching each video!
Why not just use Skyfire and stream your porn?

[Q] Best Photo Album for G-Tablet?

Running Vegan 5.1 and would like to keep photos on the internal memory rather than the external due to the loss of media files/.nomedia issue. Gallery doesn't seem to be finding anything on the internal memory and I don't see any way to modify where it looks for photos.
Any suggestions?
I load all my pics on Flickr and use flickr companion to view them all.
I know it's not exactly what you are looking for but an option. and less space on your Gtab taken up.
Try Just Pictures! I have found it to be one of the better gallery apps and it's free.

I 2nd that. Nice thing about Just Pictures is that you can also stream pics from CIFS enabled tablet with Windows sharing.

Thank you! Getting this for my phone now, as well. I loved when Sense would load Facebook, but after switching to CM6.1 I lost that feature. Looks like I'm going with Just Pictures! all around now!
Wow, you guys are right! I actually had downloaded it (JustPictures) earlier today but didn't spend enough time with it (I had downloaded several and didn't see anything I liked initially).
On a deeper look, this thing is fantastic! Thanks!!
It even has the ability to disable a .nomedia folder so it can view the files in those folders!
This app is awesome!

I'm an active flickr user and can't get slideshows to work in landscape on the g tab.
It works in portrait but I get the "!" in landscape. Does flickr companion do slideshows?

Does thus feature disable the "protective qualities" of .nomedia as well(please say no!)?

I haven't had the problem that people have been describing (deleting media not in the .nomedia folder), so I can't say for sure. Only way to test it is for someone who is to give it a shot and report back.

Try hide it pro from the market
try create a folder starting with a dot, like: .photos.
and put the pictures there...
In the folder where you want to store and hide photos create a file called .nomedia then move the photos into the folder.
If you add the .nomedia file to an existing folder you may need to wipe Gallery data before it takes effect. Works on Sammy and HTC, haven't tried it myself on Sony.
OR, if rooted, get LUKS Manager from the market. Works like Windows Truecrypt.

I think media storage is more important. You also better reboot your phone.

Or you can download quickpic app to hid the folders for you..
it actually only create .nomedia file for you..
Install 'hide it pro' app downloading via Google play store, its free and after installation it will be renamed as audio manager, and tapping at 'audio manger' you will be able to install your password and you can view your hidden photos, videos. You can encrypt your data also.
And if you have root acess, you can hide your app downloading its plugin, located at advanced settings. Then you can launch your app calling @ ##yourpassword .

To hide your porn, clear data in media storage and album apps after renaming the .folder.

I tried Hide It Pro but prefer LUKS. Hide It just seems to change the name of your file and copy it to an obscure location, but you can still find it with a file explorer. I didn't try the encryption but it looked to me like it would only encrypt individual file(s)?
With LUKS, you create a password-protected encrypted volume (can take a while) and then you mount it. Once the volume is mounted it looks like a regular folder. You can create whatever folders you want and just cut/paste any filetype into it. Encryption is on the fly so you don't need to encrypt/decrypt files. In any file explorer, browse to a file in the volume, double-click and the file opens....pictures, music, videos, spreadsheets, text files etc, all open transparently out of the mounted volume. When you dismount the volume you cannot see inside it.
Tried changing a name of an existing folder to .saved and the folder disappear completely ?? any reason why this happened?
And tried creating a new one with .pvt ,sadly this not work, ast the folder created cant be seen?anyone experienced this problem before?
Just to clear the matter, lady friend sent me a bikini photo, not porn or any sort but since the album shows all on the Z, had a lot people want to check my phone out scanning through my photos etc which made me wonder if there is an app to ensure privacy.
Hide It Pro works well Thanks guys!! :good:

Choose your pic(open up fully) in Google Photos->tap the "share" icon at bottom->choose your file explorer app (ES File Explorer, etc) from list->save to desired location->profit.
Cheers!

That is not an optimal solution if you have hundreds or thousands of photos that you want to keep downloaded on the device.
It was an easy "keep album on device" when gallery was in the phone.
Has anyone ever found a solution?

The only way I can find, is to open each photo individually, click 3 dot menu, click download. I don't think you can multi select.
i have thousands of photos on my device, i use the gallery app to view them. i mostly keep them in my regular folder for photos and a folder for the picsay pro app. there could be hundreds of ways to save photos on yoyr device. or am i not understanding your question?

Notifications menu. Vids won’t play

Things used to be fine. Save video to phone. In the notification menu on top of screen after download is done. Tap one to open. It’d open and play. Not anymore. I installed an rar app and archive app. Every time I tap vids to open it would pop up a list of those apps to use. Once or always open. So I uninstalled them. Now it just opens the files app or downloads app. I never had any issue before. How do I fix this? I looked at settings for chrome and it seems ok for how to deal with media. Not sure though.
Thanks.
What file extension is the video?
Which app was launching to play the video when things were working?
In settings>>apps>>default apps is anything shown for video?
Try resetting app preferences in settings>>system>>reset app preferences
Thanks. They’re mp4. I don’t know. The default video app on the pixel 4 xl was used but I don’t know. Reset app prefs is a good first step. Didn’t think of that. Hmm.
