Hi there,
i'm currently having a problem with my I9000, everytime i connect it on my PC via the original USB-cable, and it doesn't matter if i select Media player mode or Samsung Kies USB mode, i'm getting the phone on media player mode on New PC Studio...
i really don't know what to do now, can't update my phone to FroYo because of that, i have googled, but nu success, the update module of New PC Studio won't recognize my Phone in Samsung Kies mode...
i have tried on both, windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 x64...
Any suggestions?
Best Regards
EpSlasH
I think you will find New PC Studio does not support the Galaxy Samsung S my friend.
Kies is the only software you can use with it at present.

the only way to connect my GalaxyS to PC is running the KIES. If I don't run KIES it's not appeared in My Computer (although is charged).
I tried to use android screencast but it seems that the device in not recognized!
Any assistance pls?
also have this issue, although under some other usb connection modes my pc does recognise 2 external devices but can not connect to them what so ever
windows 7 64bit, samsung drivers installed
You can still use it as a usb mass storage. Only thing it wont do is updates. KIES is a known problem with many people. Some suggestion says to use the back USB ports. Some says to download the newest drivers.
I'm having a problem with Kies Mini that I haven't seen discussed here and am hoping someone can help. When I start up the program I get the intro splash screen but after a few seconds the Mini window just whites out. I think the program is still running when this happens, and it even seems to recognize the usb-attached Captivate. But it's impossible to use with the blanked window. If it matters, I run Windows 7 64 bit.
Does anyone have an idea about what's going on? Is there a way to get Kies Mini to work on my PC?
Thanks in advance,
DW
Never saw that, but i can offer some kies mini suggestions:
1. Try connecting phone first and going into Kies mode on phone, after phone says connected, then open Kies mini (this is the only way mine works)
2. Kies Mini seems to dislike the "generic" Samsung drivers - so make sure those are not installed.
3. If you want to start over, uninstall Kies, Kies Mine, and any Samsung drivers in add/remove programs; then reboot and install captivate specifice drivers, then Kies Min
4. Plug phone in and fire up Media Player mode disconnect, then try Mass storage mode - doing these modes helps windows install the correct drivers for all functions
Hopefully some of this will help....
My Samsung Galaxy S purchased Oct 2010
Model number GT-I9000
Firmware version 2.1-update1
Baseband version I9000XXJM2
Kernel version 2.6.29
Build number ECLAIR.XWJM3
Running latest version of Samsung KIES on Windows 7. Trying to upgrade to OS to Froyo
When I connect my phone via usb I get notification
Installing device drivers
then
device driver software not successfully installed
MTP usb device Failed.
It seems Windows 7 is not recognising Android driver(s) on my phone. Is this a known/new issue? I connected my phone to a Windows XP machine and it recognised the phone straight away and was visible in KIES. Is there a setting in Windows 7 that needs to be adjusted perhaps? Can anyone offer a suggestion as to how to recify this problem?

Multiple posts on the forum .

have you tryed to reinstall kies? and u can firs put phone on mass storage and wait to install drivers =)
I had an older version of KIES, did a search for Galaxy S updates, one of which was an updated version of KIES, now installed. I put the phone in mass storage mode, connected, then it told me to exit mass storage mode, had to disconnect in order to do so. Have searched MTP usb device on this site, read the archived entries and varied solutions, none of which work. Fairly sure its a Windows problem, because as I eluded to previously, it connects to Windows XP no problem.
Windows recognises my phone in Real Player mode, but not in KIES mode! KIES then says connection mode not supported, please connect in KIES mode, the Windows fails to recognise my phone.

There is a lot of thread about it, but well...
Start fresh:
- Uninstall Kies (phone not connected)
- Clean your registry with ccleaner (google it)
- restart your PC
- Dowload the last 2.x Kies realeased from samsung website
- Install Kies as administrator
- Go in your SGS setting device -> Application -> devlopment -> Uncheck USB debugging
- Restart your phone (even if not needed, do it)
- When the phone is up, plug the USB cable.
No luck with that either!

It should work no matter what:
Your windows 7 system have a problem somewhere (Drivers outdated?, antivirus?, firewall?, service not properly started? etc.. can be a lot of external things)
If you checked all that, it could be an hardware issue (i doubt that)
Are you using the stock USB cable right?
Anyway triple check everything, update, restart. It must work or you have or you are a very very very special case (i doubt that too).
Its an odd one alright
I'm reasonably confident, while not being an expert, that Windows is the problem, only wish I knew what exactly. I'm asking on Windows forums as well.
As visible in the screenshot, my Galaxy SL 9003 just wont connect to Kies. The connecting animation just keeps going on and on no matter how long the phone is connected to the PC. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Kies multiple times and my phone has never been rooted or anything.
Using Kies on Windows XP, Kies version 2.0.1.11053_99
Any help is appreciated.

So I tried it on a friend's Windows 7 computer and it worked there, Kies detects the phone there...
After updating to the latest version of Kies, even the windows 7 machine cant connect to my phone anymore.
Simple problem would be with your mobile phone just switch off and switch on.
or check you dont have any start up launchers.
Hope it helps.
My tablet is an european galaxy tab p1000 with original froyo 2.2 XXJID and kernel 2.6.32.9
I have samsung kies installed on a windows xp x86 SP3; under winsdows, p1000 is perfectly recognized; kies finds the new version (gingerbread) to upgrade, but when p1000 goes in download mode it is not recognized from windows and so nothing change.
With odin the same problem, I open odin, put p1000 in download mode, connect usb cable but it is not recognized (debug USB is flagged!)
With the same pc and odin I upgraded without problem another android phone (gt i-5500).
With p1000 turned off, If I press and hold the VOLUME UP and power button, I enter in android system recovery <3e>....inside menĂ¹ there is "apply sdcard: update.zip"........is there a way to do a rom upgrade..or just a bootloader upgrade from here?
Or is there another way to overcome this problem?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Stefano
ah..odin is able to see the tablet when android is running...
Solved....may be the issue was related to the USB ports of the first two PC (with windows xp SP3 running). At the third attempt with a pc with windows 7 I solved.
