[Q] How to re-apply Voodoo without re-flashing it again? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi peeps, sorry if this is a repeat or nooob thread.
Here's how it went:
I flashed JM8, then to JP6 Froyo, then I rooted using CFroot, then I apply Voodoo 5.
All is well until I apply Voodoo. The market was lost and my quadrant is about 1540 but still kinda laggy.
So, I reflashed everything once again.
I "disable_lagfix" on Voodoo and went through JM8, JP6, CFroot again.
After completion, I deleted the disable_lagfix file.
I played with the phone the whole day and thought I had Voodoo enabled. But my quadrant is only 977 now.
So, do I have to Odin flash Voodoo again? I want Voodoo but I don't want it if it clears up my settings and apps. Yeah I can restore them but it takes super long time and I don't want that.
Suggestions please.
Thanks to mods for moving it here.

Voodoo lagfix stuck on at&t screen? (resolved)

Update: I figured out the issue
So, I had my device rooted and attempted to install the Voodoo lagfix. I had the SRE 1.3, but I didn't apply the one click lag fix. From what I found, there shouldn't be any problem applying the voodoo lagfix over the SRE kernel. Anyways, to be sure, I reflashed my kernel back to the stock JH7, and used the update.zip method. I got the robot voice telling me it was done, but it stayed on the ATT startup screen for, well, EVER. It never booted up past that point. Worried I had done something wrong, I reflashed, and ran the remove lagfix thing as there was a voodoo folder created. I tried it again and I got the same thing.
Again, I removed the lagfix, reflashed, and tried again, but this time, I fell asleep (for 8 hours or so...) and it was still at the ATT boot screen.
Am I doing something wrong?
Note: I do have my device overclocked (as included with the SRE build I used). Would that matter?
Thanks!
Looks like the overclocking wasn't compatible. This thread can be closed/deleted. Thanks

[Q] Clockwork to back to JH7, kernel still Voodoo

Hey folks, so here's a basic summary of what I've done up to now...
Rooted... have Rom Manager, etc...
Flashed JH7 OTA with Clockwork. Worked nicely. Set some things up, happy at this stage so I made a backup.
Decided to try Cognition, was 2.1.4. Had some trouble with a few things.
Disabled lagfix, simple enough.
Flashed to a backup made when I was on regular JH7.
So to the question... when I go to About in Settings, my Kernel still says
[email protected] #Voodoo_lagfix_3.0_v1.9.
Shouldn't the Kernel have converted back when I restored/flashed my backup?
Clockwork won't reflash your kernel (unless it's a package with included kernel) however the voodoo kernel you currently have on your phone operates the same as a stock kernel until you remove the disable-lagfix folder. Cognition 2.1.4 does utilize that version of the kernel to enable init.d scripts for things like MobileAP to function
You just have all the answers don't ya?

[Q] Unrooting my galaxy s

I rooted my phone galaxy s and installed a lag fix using a youtube video for help a couple of weeks ago. Now froyo is upon us i would like to unroot my phone and remove this lag fix. I though if i went on the mcr scripts app and removed the fix then the lag fix would be gone and then i could just wipe my phone back to factory settings. after doing this and wipeing my phone however. i still have both the superuser permissions and mcr scripts apps on my phone. surely this means i havent unrooted my phone? I am a total noob and so dont have a clue what to do next. Any help would be greatfully apprecciated.

Hey Mad2Ad,
I went to the voodoo irc channel to ask for help. I was told to not worry. Just make sure your lagfix is disabled. When the new firmware comes, it will copy a new firmware/kernal to your phone and erase everything (root, lagfix, etc). So don't worry. But key action > DISABLE LAGFIX before you do anything.

Thanks for the advice jonnie,
How can i be sure ive uninstalled the lagfix though? MCR scripts is still present in applications. When i run the quadrant standard app though my score is 871 whilst it was of course over 2000 after rooting so surely this would mean ive unrooted my phone. I was just under the impression that once ive done that the superuser permissions would dissapper.
Heres the info my phone gives me if it helps.
csc: xajf3
kernel version: 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
Ive just installed the latest firmware from kies and im now running
csc:I9000XAJM1
my baseband is now: XXJM1
The MCR scripts and superuser apps have both dissappeared now so im assuming ive de lagfixed and unrooted my phone.

[Q] Can I install OCLF 2.2 on top of Voodoo 5 pre6?

I need to find out if I can install OCLF 2.2 over Voodoo 5 pre6. If yes, do i need to disable voodoo first?
Am I also doing it in the correct manner? I already have Voodoo 5 flashed to my phone.
Lastly, if this is indeed possible, what are your feedbacks? Did SGS improved? Did it lag again after several days?
didn't work for me. got a black screen once it loaded up. probably did something wrong but you could try it and report back here.

Are my methods hazardous???

So I've flashed about 15-20 different ROMS on my Captivate. I used ODIN the first time. Every single time since then, I just did a TiBu, copied that to my external sd, and just downloaded the ROM straight to my phone and used ROM Manager. I never disabled lagfix or flashed back to stock. I also haven't had problems. (I bootlooped once, but that was when I tried to disable voodoo lagfix by creating the "disable-lagfix" folder in its directory.) Is this dangerous to my phone?
I ask because today I installed Firefly 2.4, and I read that the speedmod lagfix is disabled by default and needs re-enabled through recovery. When I did it, it did a full nandroid backup and restore. Is that normal? I've had very little experience with messing with the lagfixes.
Anybody wanna be my hero and enlighten me?
Sent from a lightning-fast Captivate.
Firefly 2.4

Honeycomb Theme
(Big ups to Teams Phoenix, Firefly, Supernova and Fusion!)
do not worry, that is normal ... you should be fine.
