okay guys,

Do i just copy the update.zip to sdcard/ then do 3 button recovery and flash that way or is something else needed.Rombiev2a jph files state the kernel needs changing and to use odin to flash it i get all that. but doesnt state if this is the same for jpk aswell. if anyone at all could shed some light and tell me hows i can flash rombie v2a 4 jpk i would be very gratefull cheers wattsy
I am using Rombies' V2A Full with JPK. You need to flash the i9000 kernel first to have recovery mode 2e. You need it to be able to flash the update.zip or you will get an error about unsigned updates. Then once you flash the update you flash the JPK kernel back to the phone.

Suddently i'm on 3e, wtf.. Plz help!

Hello guys.. I flashed my SGS with the steel-theme mod and restored a earlier backup of docmod (JPM/JP3) and now the bootloader is 3e and i can't do **** with my phone :/ I don't know what happened or what to do. Been googling a little but without answers... Please help me! THanks
I'd say go flash the Chainfire Kernel to get back to 2e.

Then start from scratch with JPM, JP6 or JPA.
Or any of the custom ROMs, like Doc's, Tayatuma or any other.

[Q] Do I need 2e recover for JH2?

Hi!
I'm currently using JH2 on my bell samsung i9000m and I'm looking to install Doc Froyo's mod...
In the instructions it says I need 2e recovery, although I'm not too sure what this is... I followed the link in the FAQ and it only has files for other builds but not JH2
My question is whether or not I actually need 2e recover if I'm on JH2. And if so, where can I find it?
Thanks!
2e comes with Doc's Rom its part of the package.. and JH2 already has 2e

[Q] Boot loop when flashing Froyo/GB/Anyhing non Eclair over stock Eclair JM8 with 2e

Evening,
I'm trying to upgrade from a stock Eclair 2.1 to Froyo.
Recovery is 2e.
I've spent the better part of the last two days reading endless threads here and trying any remotely relevant solutions that were discussed.
The phone simply refuses to boot anything other than Eclair.
Won't run any recovery other than it's stock 2e either.
So far I've tried:
- Stock 2.2 JPC / JPU and 2.3 JPK / JVK with repartition and wipe, using Odin v1.3, 1.52, 1.7, 1.82 and correct pit file.
- 2.3 JPK / JVK with above Odin versions.
- speedmod, CF-Root, darkcore, damianGTO and a few others with Odin and SGS kernel flasher app.
- CWM recovery with SGS kernel flasher app and rom manager app.
- Manually flashing the GT-I9000 2.5.1.2 CWM recovery, which seems to let me into the CWM recovery menu if I "apply update.zip" twice, but recovery is still stock 2e on reboot.
- WIPE versions of popular roms that include a kernel with Odin/CWM.
With all of the above the result is the same. Just shows a the Galaxy S logo for hours and hours. It will not go into recovery mode either, only download mode.
If I flash any stock eclair such as JM4, JM8 or JD4, the phone boots Eclair just fine and I can get 2e recovery again.
I've checked that it's not sim locked with the *#724....# code, which said that everything was unlocked.
Not many hairs left to pull. Hopefully some of the gurus that hang around here would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.
Thank you for your time,

use this to successfully upgrade to Froyo..
cheers
Backup your internal sd storage. (Photo's, music etc.)
Then give it a format. Then try to flash again. Do not worry about restoring all the android folders and such after the format. All of the needed folders will be re-created.
Try taking it to a service centre and ask them to update it to Froyo for you. They might know something we don't.
Dear oldseeker,
Quite a coincidence but I've had a similar problem today with my dad's SGS.
The phone would go into a bootloop if I'd flash froyo or gingerbread.
He had eclair on it and needed an update badly to use his apps.
How I eventually fixed it was, by flashing Eclair JM8 with the pit file from samfirmware (with repartition ticked), and after that was finished, I flashed Darky's
Ressurect Edition 10.1 again with repartition ticked, and everything works now as it should.
Hope this works for you!

[Q] SGS stuck at i9000 logo before the bootanimation. Urgently need help!!!

I was on darky's 10.1, darkcore 2.6, jvo baseband.. i wanted to disable the lagfix so that i can flash another kernel so i went to cwm to disable the lagfix. however it apparently did not disable the lagfix and now i'm stuck at the gt-i9000 screen and i can't boot up my sgs. can someone please please please tell me what i can do?
If you can get into download mode, I would suggest flashing to a stock 2.3 or 2.2 rom through Odin.
