Right, I just did a factory reset (via 3 button thing)
The phone then rebooted and loaded up, but now everything is force closing... Can someone please help?
I tried doing another reset and it didn't help... It's everything force closing, gmail, task manager, gallery, everything.
I REALLY need some help.
Thanks,
Luke.
EDITTT: Turns out it didn't reset properly, I did a reset using the "secret code" and it works fine.
It happened to me once and finally brought it to some phone store to fix it back. Cost me HKD250. But I still have no idea what caused the "force close"......
By the way. What is "secret code"? It sounds interesting.....

There are a lot of secret codes which you can use to acces hidden menu's; search the forum to find them

I used the app SGS Tools (not to be confused with SGS Toolbox), it lists the secret codes. Lots of interesting ones.

Your best bet is to wipe your phone and flash a fresh rom onto it. What rom are you using?
its regular updated 2.2 nexus build number FRF91 idk anything else? its not rooted
Oh ok so purely stock.
1. Backup all your contacts:
*Open Contacts app
*Press menu softkey, select Import/Export
*Export your contacts to sd card
2. Go to settings -> privacy -> factory data reset [THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE PHONE]
Your phone should restart, and you should be good to go.
thanks bro... why u think its glitching liek that because maybe all the apps i got like 20 from market and task killer? or what can it be? by the way i factory restored it once not because of this problem but jsut to clear all apps quickly... so i just did it lets see how it goes from now....
No problem, I'm here to help.
I remember reading recently that task killers from the market actually may do more harm than good. I don't exactly remember why, but that may be your problem...
P.S. I always thought task killers required root...I guess you learn something new every day
hahaha true true.. so these problem u heard about before or first time?
I've never heard of your specific issue but anything is possible
gotcha so right now i download most apps such as aim, calorie counter, magic marker, pandora, yahoo mail, drink recipe, shazam, shopsavvy, WHERE thats about it.. no task killers no battery displayers no nothing.... hopefully this problem wont occur....
Good. Just send me a PM if you run into the issue again
gotcha.. thanks anyone got any ideas why it would occur..... apps? virus?
Were you using a program to customize the icon? Like Folder Organizer?
nope.. but i did have astro zipper program i had lock up 2.0 i had werid thigns just got a habit of downloading i enedup delting lots but problem occured i just did a factory reset so far no problem.....

From what you're explaining, its seems you're experiencing the touchscreen issue. Most if not all of the N1's have this problem. It's a known defect that HTC chooses not to admit too. As of now there's only a temp fix which is to press the power button on & off. Its a problem that randomly occurs. There's nothing that'll specifically trigger the problem, it just happens when it happens. Flashing to a custom rom will not solve your problem becuz its hardware related. If you haven't voided your warranty in any way, your best bet is too warranty exchange/repair your device until its fixed.
ya im going to call warrernty now and see what the deal is!
need help... HTC HD7 radomly resets itself. This is a hard reset as I lose all settings and accounts. Any suggestions ?
Added to post: I also now noticed that after I have manually done the hard reset myself and started to set up my phone again with personal settings and contacts, it prompts me with a message at top of screen. It reads:
"To ensure you have the best experience we periodically need to reset your phone."
Of course I hit the cancel button. I also now notice that if I don't hit the cancel button right away, the phone will reset itself and I lose all settings and contact (hard reset).
After hours of burning up time and searching.... I found the instructions in XDA (search for DEMO version). The RUU I found works like a charm !! All issues seem to be fixed.

Thanks...I ended up finding it....
Anyone else seeing this problem? I read someplace where some stores ran out of devices and ended up selling their display model. The Display models would have the DEMO version on them.
So I used this pin code for about 3 weeks now..
what i did was, I downloaded dungeon defender because it was free..
and it told me to do a reboot after install so i did.
when i finished rebooting my pin would not be accepted..
and also even if i fail a lot, it keeps telling me to try again after 30sec
rather than entering you google account.....
Im running darky 9.5..
SHould i do a hard reset? or reflash?
any other solutions?
please help...
Did you enter your google account and reset your pin?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
That's odd. That usually only happens if you make changes to the framework with a PIN enabled.
Are you sure you didn't also happen to modify the framework (theming, no-clock, other flashable mods) with a PIN enabled?
The only way that I've dealt with it is basically reflash, and don't enable a PIN lock until you're totally done with your modifications.
If not that's very surprising, and makes me think twice about a PIN.
first it never asked for a google account.... im on my 240 try...
one thing i noticed is that when i get it wrong 5 times.
it says "you have incorrectly drawn your unlock pattern 240 times. Please try again in 30 seconds."
why does it say pattern?
and fyi i never did any modifications with the pin... i dont even know how to do it...
and does reflashing erase all the data?
i just reflashed.
it didn't help anything.. the pin is still there. I still dont know the password.
is there a way to figure out the pin? like plug it in a computer and it tells you or something?
Did you do a master clear through Odin?

no i have not yet tried that...
is that the only way? because i really want to save my data....
but still thanks for the reply..
One more thing you can try is a hard factory reset (it's accessible through CWM). tbh I can't remember if it wipes all of your data. I don't think it does but don't quote me on that.
That will allow you to get into your phone temporarily. But you'll still run into the problem, so a master clear is in your future.
What data did you want to save?
You can use "SMS Backup" or "Backup to Gmail" to save your SMS/MMS/Call logs when you get back into your phone then wipe everything else.
I just wanted to get my app data.
Anyway I did a factory reset and it sort of solved the problem.
I'm not using a password now...

have you tried rebooting the phone? i think when it happened to me the problem would come back after a reboot. if not then problem fixed!

Hi all,
Anyone else had their camera break? The app loads but it's just black where the usual image should be then exits back to my home screen with no error message. All other functions seem to be fine. Have done a full restart by pressing and holding the power button until the countdown is over, still no joy..
Send it back to HTC,its under warranty :good:
I say you return it and get a new one, that's what I would do

Trying a factory reset now. Weird thing is the front facing camera doesn't work either so I'm really hoping the issue is in software and not the hardware :/

Vodafone UK on the phone. Will try a store while I wait for the return envelope.
In other news, the HTC Backup tool works pretty well. All I lost was some app configuration (mainly Good) and the order of my apps in the app drawer. I'll root and use a different app next time.

If bought in store, take it back and get a full refund or exchange. It's your legal rights under the sale of goods act. Don't except a repair.
It happened a couple of months back while I was on Sweet ROM (I forgot the version), I installed the BBM for Android (Official from the Play Store) then it suddenly crashed. When it crashed, it rebooted then I was stuck in Samsung bootloop. I waited a couple of minutes but to no avail, I have to reflash the ROM. When I reflashed Sweet, everything was okay but there was no lock screen. I tried locking it through the power menu but when I press it again, it just opens on the home screen. There's nothing. I tried face recognition, slide, pattern, and password but nothing worked.
Is there any way to fix this?
I've used widgetlocker for months but I'm still looking for the JB lockscreen.
Try the shutdown menu. Are You missing some options also?
For me it looks like Your phone lost imei. Check that too.

I'm missing a lot of options in the power menu. Is there a possibility that I can bring it back?

Check also the imei if it is correct.
Easiest way is to install a stock (not branded for any mobile network provider) firmware.

I got the fake IMEI. And I already did that fix but its still the same. I've already done the 9 ways to recover it via EFS folder, still nothing. Jeez. I guess I should leave it at that. Pfft.
