Hi all,
Anyone else had their camera break? The app loads but it's just black where the usual image should be then exits back to my home screen with no error message. All other functions seem to be fine. Have done a full restart by pressing and holding the power button until the countdown is over, still no joy..
Send it back to HTC,its under warranty :good:
I say you return it and get a new one, that's what I would do

Trying a factory reset now. Weird thing is the front facing camera doesn't work either so I'm really hoping the issue is in software and not the hardware :/

Yep, no joy. Seems like a fault I wont be able to fix myself.
Definately an exchange. . . . .

Vodafone UK on the phone. Will try a store while I wait for the return envelope.
In other news, the HTC Backup tool works pretty well. All I lost was some app configuration (mainly Good) and the order of my apps in the app drawer. I'll root and use a different app next time.

If bought in store, take it back and get a full refund or exchange. It's your legal rights under the sale of goods act. Don't except a repair.

So today i tried to take a pic and i opened up the camera app and it said loading... then just went back to home screen.
I rebooted the phone and same thing was happening. Anyone know what could be wrong? I'm thinking of doing a hard reset, but question...where do all my contacts get saved to? Or is there a way to restore them?
Thanks in advance.
I have had the faceboook app / marketplace etc not working and reboot has always solved the problems
I guess MS is not so good with handling multiple apps as they say..
regardless have you tried opening the camera with the hardware camera button? cause I normally use that and not the app button..
there is a possibility you loose your contacts... as for me my contacts are synced with google so i always get them back once i log in
thats a feature in android and i was happy MS has introduced google contacts to link with live.

I am experiencing the same issue as well, I recently bought my HD7 off of eBay, everything works great except for the usual earth-wide annoyances such as:
+ Horrible speaker volume,
+ Wi-fi cuts off when lock screen engages....
When I try to start up my HD7's camera either through the software (applications list) or the hard key, it comes up as loading....then quickly vanishes and I'm put back to the main menu.
I'm looking around the internet for possible fix but still nothing, here's what I've tried:
+ Hard reset, same issue comes up
+ Emailed HTC Customer service: Still waiting on response.
HD7 looks and performs great in my opinion and I'm now looking forward to the big Microsoft Update before I give up and head for another HD7 (risky considering this might be hardware, grr!!) or moving back to ANDROID...yeah, I love open source, can crack that
Here's the video link, see what I mean...

I've got an unbranded HTC One and I've performed the OTA update from a few weeks ago. I'm not saying the update is the cause, just that I'm on the latest ROM. The phone is also not rooted.
I've noticed that it's getting slower and slower when pressing the On button before the keypad appears and also longer for the keyboard to appear and then it takes longer for the keys I've pressed to register and then another few seconds for the application icons to appear.
All in all, it takes about 15 seconds to turn on, enter my 4 number pin and for the icons to finally appear. Normally this whole process takes me 2 seconds. I know an extra 13 seconds doesn't sound a lot but when you're trying to get to your camera or to take someone's contact details, it feels like forever.
Restarting the phone fixes the issue but it eventually slows back down again. I don't want to have to restart my phone every 3 days so this isn't really a viable solution.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
If not then I can only assume it must be software I've since installed but I'm very careful with what I install (no games, just work related apps like Astrid and things like WhatsApp).
15 seconds!!!??? That's looooonnnnnggggg on anyone's book using any phone!
My One is instantly turned on when the power button is pressed and sometimes the password keypad took a bit longer to appear because I use Swype and it's still a bit laggy compared to stock keyboard, but I am talking about between instant and half a second delay, not even one second.
Yours definitely got some issue, either hardware or software I don't know, likely to be software if you say a restart solves it. What keyboard app you are using? It could be that...

Everything I'm using is stock.
I've just timed it again - it's 15 seconds if I've accessed the phone recently otherwise it's closer to 18 seconds.
It feels a long time to me and when I say it out loud "18 seconds" it sounds pretty insignificant but I assure you, it's very, very irritating.
How many weeks uptime do you have on your phone?
I've removed almost all my apps now so we'll see if it starts slowing down again.

Unlock the bootloader, root the phone, and install a custom rom. That's what you should be on XDA for anyways. You're problems will then be gone.

Go read Gunny's response on losing your warranty. The warranty loss claim is complete bs. It states you MAY lose your warranty. I've returned so many phones for warranty that were rooted, bootloader unlocked, and even bricked with a different devices software on it and I never had any problems.

Fair enough but people dont need to have to root and unlock bootloaders and do this and that to get a good experience. People just want to get a phone out of the box and use it. and HTC have done a good job at that. And there are too many noobs that just dig themselves a big hole after doing down the unlock path
back on topic: its probably an app thats causing huge lag on your device. check your running apps in settings

Hi there,
I just noticed that on my Z3+ I have got a warning saying 'network may be monitored'. Once I click that I get "This device is managed by null"
My question is does anyone else have the same warning and if I should be worried ??
Thanks
I got that when I tried repairing my phone through the Sony Companion software. After seeing that, I just performed a normal factory reset and that went away. No clue what it is, but it's not there anymore.

Really? That's awfully strange. You're getting it in the pull down/notification drawer right? Mine was on the bottom of the shortcuts.
That's exactly where it is. I don't know if I should be worried incase my device it's actually monitored. It's says it's managed by null :/

Is the notification something serious ?? I tried to disabling the myxperia but still I seem to have it. It would take forever to do the PC repair and then to get all the apps back. I am just wondering if there is other way around it or I should just stop waring about it.

Imagine a thief holding your phone. 'Device may be monitored' is there to make him worried, not you ! Still you can deactivate the protection & then repair to get rid of it. But it's not worth the hassle IMO

The fix is to factory reset the device and set up the Google account AFTER the initial setup wizard, not during.

I've heard it has something to do with myXperia.... I've also heard of factory resets fixing it...
People ... You get this message after installing a custom CA certificate, eg. the one of the company you work for. Do you use WiFi with certificates or VPN? Then you've installed a custom CA certificate.
Just used Sony PC Companion to update to 28.0.A.8.251 and it fixed this and didn't loose any of my settings/data.
I had used My Xperia in the past and but had turned it off before updating.
I don't know if it is fixed in the update, or just the process of updating with my xperia turned off reset whatever was causing it to show.
Last night my phone randomly froze and it restarted. Ever since then it keeps freezing and restarting itself. Its now to a point where the G4 is stuck on the bootloader and wont cut on at all. I have never rooted the phone and it is up to date. Any help?

You might be able to do a standard factory reset from recovery, but it doesn't sound like your phone will even make it that far. Seriously, just get a new one from Sprint.

Try holding power + vol down at the same time. Hold it until it boots into recovery. Then factory reset. Hopefully this will work.

i just did that and it was working for 20 minutes but it started rebooting again. no phone for me
I'm having some issues with the camera when in landscape mode.
In portrait mode, everything is working fine but once I rotate the camera to landscape, the "viewfinder" takes up only about 25% of the screen and moves to the top left . The rest of the screen has rows of arrows!!
I have no idea how this happened as it was working fine yesterday.
I tried force stopping the camera app and rebooting but it didnt help.

Try to clear data on the camera app, restart the phone into recovery and wipe cache only.
If it continues to do so then you can either factory reset your phone or wait for an update to the camera app.
Just tried that and still didnt help.
Samsung support told me to bring the phone to ubreakifix store in lower Manhattan.
They said they can load updates that they receive from samsung.
