So I noticed that CM6 Froyo Remix ROM was missing the Genie weather and the customizable Power Control widget. I use only those two widgets on a daily basis and it would be nice if someone could point me in the right direction.
I've already tried Googling and downloading a transparent Genie widget from another site but after installing the widget, my phone had to force close the app maybe because it wasn't compatible?
Anyways, it would be nice if somebody can help me. Thanks in advance!
maybe u can try beautiful widget instead
I've already tried that app and honestly it isn't my cup of tea.
Is it possible to just extract the genie apk from a ROM and install it onto the one I'm currently using?

thats probably because you have to completely uninstall the old one first
go into root explorer or whatever file manage you use and DELETE the newsandweather or geniewidge apk
then reboot, just to be sure
then install it
bet it works then

This ROM I'm currently using didn't come with the Genie weather apk at all. I also confirmed this by using ASTRO to search in the apps folder.

Nvm... I just Googled it myself. C;
I used to ADB to remove the GenieWidget.apk and used this command to reinstall the transparent widget:
adb remount
adb push GenieWidget.apk /system/app/GenieWidget.apk
I'm sure majority of the people here already know how to do all this but I'm typing this as a reference in case I flash my phone again.
Hmm tried to install this on CM6-RC1, but now i can't load my new & weather anymore lol.
Luckily i made a backup.

Try to rename htclockscreen.apk to htclockscreen.apk1 in system/app folder. I don't know but maybe you also should rename htclockscreen.odex. And reboot.

If you change the lock screen does the alarm still work? I remember on the Desire Modaco ROMS if you disabled the HTC lockscreen then the alarm couldn't be disabled without a battery pull.

Bah, I've been wanting to get rid of the HTC lock screen since day 1. I eagely entered "mv htclockscreen.apk htclockscreen.apk1" to be hit with the read only error. Is there a easy way to get write permission in /system/app? The results from Google are rather confusing and I didn't want to enter them directly on the phone with the little keyboard.

If its not changing then the phone is not rooted properly or root explorer doesn't have super user permissions. Open super user and check root explorer is showing in the list. Maybe try running visionary again?

Why not do as i did ? Install the lockscreen you want that autostarts and works with your phone, then uninstall the htclockscreen with titanium backup. Works perfect for me and i never have to see that ugly htclockscreen again Im using widgetlocker and i think it's the best out there, nothing even comes close to it, it's well worth the money.

There is no way to turn the alarm off!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=643929
This fixes the alarm problem (and you can turn off the HTC alarm by setting off an alarm with it). No choice of alarm tone though, I did quite like having soothing music wake me up...
And as I discovered last night the screen doesn't time out.

I agree, top app IMO
Any idea how to replace the HTC Lockscreen with a "empty" one so you don't have to unlock twice if you use a unlock pattern?
Hi guys I did something dumb last night as I was tired and not thinking. I installed the new market (vending.apk) on my Xoom and quickly realized its for phones only
Anyone have a link to the stock vending.apk ?
I thought you could go into manage applications, find market and click uninstall updates.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA Premium App
I tried the same with same result
Could not get the app back, even with TB. Honeycomb-market consists of 2 files: vending.apk and finsky.apk. Finally I had to rip the files from out of the file "system.img" (part of the AU-Telstra-FW) by using "unyaffs", copied them back to "/system/app" and set the permissions to "rw-r-r". APKs from Tiamat-ROM didn't work, tried that first w/o success...
I could upload them to my Dropbox, but i'm not sure if they'll work for you...
Edit:
Uploaded mine: http://db.tt/cTCSrkb
To replace them in the file system you have your Xoom to be rooted.

Here are some Black And Blue system apps that go pretty good with SPC_Hicks Fusion and Iconic HD Themes
Whats Themed?
Browser.apk
Settings.apk
YouTube.apk
Gallery3d.apk (SPC_Hicks Themed gallery for Iconinc HD)
Mms.apk
QuickSearchBox.apk
DeskClock.apk
Coming Soon
Phone.apk (Got it looking ok not ready to release yet being a pain to get it flowing good.)
Contacts.apk (same as above)
One note there are a couple things that are not working properly you still can't see the text in the mms app when adding a attachment which has to do with the Framework-res.apk not mms.apk so basically unless that is changed in a theme it won't be changed here.
Also when I get more time I will post these individually so that you dont have to get everything i just don't have the time to do it now.
Screen Shots will come..
Download put on root of ext-sd
Boot into recovery
Choose zip from sd card
Wipe dalvik cache
Download For The themed apps mentioned above :UPDATED now includes Desk Clock:
http://www.multiupload.com/NPTYP7BXD7
Ok I put this one seperate because of different install instructions
This is a Black and Blue Themed Gmail with transparent Background still have some things to do with it but looks ok enough to release.
I have only gotten this to work one way.
To Install:
Download Gmail App from link below
Place on the root of ext_sd card
With either Titanium Backup or Root Explorer or any app that will let you delete system files
Go to /system/app/ find and delete Gmail.apk or if using Titanium Backup find it in your list and unistall it ignore the warning about removing system apps
Boot into recovery and clear cache
Install zip From SD
Select the zip file
flash as normal
Clear Dalvik Cache
Fix permissions in the advance section of clockwork recovery.
Reboot
After reboot find gmail in app drawer it always ended up going to the very last for me after you open it let it sync and everything should be working as normal.
Download Themed Gmail

Can't believe I'm just now seeing this post lol. Thanks for all this awesome work man! Will be checking these out later tonight!
EDIT: Beamer, you don't really HAVE to post these separate. They can just extract the zip file then replace the .apks that they want. Just figured it would save you some time if you add that to your OP instead of going through and making a flashable zip for each individual .apk.
Another EDIT: These look great man! Very nice job, love the System icons and the Google Search Bar!
Just noticed that if you go into "Settings," you forgot to theme the "Connectivity" icon.
Ok thanks will look into that and I was just going to post separate because some people don't know how to do that and I don't want a bunch of pm asking the same questions and the zips are already made.
Edit: Also thanks spc without your themes these apps wouldn't be what they are again thank you for taking time out of your life to create your themes!
Edit: ok I changed the connectivity icon but unfortunately when I just try to flash in recovery it settings force closes kind of need some one to try this out but the end result might be what I just got done doing and that is pretty much flashing 1.5 all over and your theme again then the themed system apps and the whole gmail thing too if anyone is interested pm me.

Try downloading the file, extract the .apk.
Use RootExplorer to delete the old .apk
Reboot Normally
Use RootExplorer to put the new .apk in /system/app
Reboot Normally again.
That should work.
I am using rooted JVU firmware and would like to install ICS keyboard to my system/app.
I used Root Explorer to copy the apk file into the directory and did a reboot, and the keyboard appeared on my locale and text menu.
However, when I try to select the keyboard, it always return a force close.
Can anybody teach me on how to solve this issue?

As you revealed in OP you are using Sammy JVU 2.3.6 TouchWiz infected framework.
Why not try to rip out HTC keyboard and push that too while you're in the mood?
When you push an ask to system/app am I write in saying it does not deleted in factory reset..??
What about pushing to system system/media..??
When pushing an apk to system folder,u need root and there is 2 easy ways, either use a root explorer and just push it to the system/app folder or use titanium backup to revert to system app.factory reset(full wipe) doesn't wipe system apk,but everthing else is wiped..
U can also push apk to system via ADB.but a little bit of knowledge is needed

Maybe you have to fix the permissions of both apps via root explorer.
There has to be: rw-r--r--
hmmm..and how do I do that exactly?
Long press on the app -> permissions
You have to stick read read (-) in the first row
write (-) (-) in the second row
and nothing in the third
Than there has to be rw-r--r-- on the right corner of the app
