[Q] How I can Install my Phone with the new Firmware ??? - Touch Diamond CDMA

I'm new in HTC world, and I have HTC DT and I think that my firmware is old, please show me how i can intall all my phone again with new firmware ...

First off, welcome to XDA. Second off, your spelling is horrid. Do you want a CUSTOM rom, or a HTC rom? What carrier do you have? Since you are CDMA, for custom roms you need a CDMA HardSPL, then you need to update your radio to your carriers latest, then you can flash over a new custom rom. Or just go to HTC's website and download an updater.

Disregards what the above poster said. Spell however you CAN spell and don't worry about the grammar police here.
In regards to your phone, ideally the general way to get a ROM on your phone is to flash it. These ROM's come in .exe packages mostly. Once you decide on a ROM (do a search and see which one has the features that suit you or get the stock one from Sprint or whomever your carrier is) simply click or right-click and run as administrator and it should walk you through the process of putting the ROM onto your device.
As always, backup any existing data that you have on the phone because flashing to a new ROM will wipe all of your data (if you happen to store on the main storage) off main storage. You can copy the data to the internal 2g storage and you'll be fine.
If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask and I'm sure you'll get an answer that is useful to you rather than to attack you.

rast4man

How to check the unit is CDMA or not ?
Hey guys,
Sorry for the silly question.. I was trying to update the ROM for my friend actually but i do not know whether the touch diamond is a CDMA set or not.. Can some one help me up ?? Thanks in advance

Go into the phone, settings, device info and relate back what it says. If it's "Diam500" you should be CDMA.

Help flashing firmware

Sorry, but i am a newbie i just got my MDA, it sometimes freeze up on me, so i talk to a friend he said try upgrading the firmware, so i wanted to upgrade the firmware just dont know which one cause there's so many...i wanted Tmobile USA, with all of the Tmobile programs such as MMS, Tzone, Email basic program from Tmoile...thanks alot- looking for something more stable, maybe faster WIFI, bluetooth those good stuff any recommandation would be great..and another question when i TRY to flash the fireware will i lose all of the data or program like the spb, theme and whether program thanks again sorry for all the question but i know you guys can help
I am using Rom- 1.8.10.2.WWE
ROM DATE-12/10/05
Radio Version-01.09.10
Protocal version-4.0.13.20
Extrom version 1.8.10.104
Not trying to be rude, but you really need to spend a week or two reading the threads in the "Wizard Upgrading" forum before you even thinking of flashing your Rom.
FYI firmware is for cellphones, Roms are for Windows Mobile Devices.
As to which Rom to use, that depends what you're looking for.
You can go for the latest, the most stable, or one that supports a specific feature. Again this is somethign you really need to read-up on. If you are looking for a specific feature use http://forum.xda-developers.com/search.php .
Honestly, you will gain speed and stability with any 2.x Rom.
To use one of the custom Roms you will need to CID unlock your device (search for it) first.
For your first flash you might just want to stick to an official Rom.
First, don't even think of attempting a CID unlock until you figure out if you have a G4 chip or not, unless you want to turn your MDA into a brick. There are other articles on the unlocking forums, as well as the Wizard forums that go into this in detail.
Until this is ironed out, I'd consider paying $40 to the guys at www.imei-check.co.uk. I've not heard any bad press about these guys, so if you want a SIM/CID unlock, go here.
If its freezing up on you, I'd consider backing your stuff on it, doing a hard reset, and restoring it. Make sure you have the data backed up (if ActiveSync doesn't have it, there are other backup utilities which can work well for your MDA you can purchase.) If you are getting freezes with just the factory installed stuff on it, you may have a hardware issue.
Lastly, quite a number of things can be enhanced/fixed without a ROM reflash, so unless T-Mobile USA comes out with new downloadable ROMs, I'd not worry about a reflash just yet.

Help please

Im sorry if these questions have been posted before, i did try and find answers using the search feature, but to no avail
Im kind off new here and i get my new Touch Diamond tommorow ... when i get it i want to be nice and ready to upgrade it to a better custom ROM but i have a few questions before i do so.
1. Does changing ROM, Radio, HardSPL etc... void the warranty ??
2. By changing ROM, Radio and HardSPL will i lose my network connection to orange, because obviously im on contract and dont want to lose any important settings such as 3G settings and any network settings. I just want to ensure i wont lose my network or anything like that by upgrading the ROM etc ...
3. If for whatever reason when im upgrading the ROM etc... something bad happens and it fails or messes up or whatever will i be able to fix the phone ... like restore it back to how it was when i got it out the box ... or will it be messed up forever?
Thanks in adavance for your replies, i hope to contribute to this community alot more over the coming weeks
1. Yes
2. No - on my Orange Diamond the correct network settings have been reinstalled automatically on the first boot after each time I've flashed a new ROM.
3. Not sure. As far as I know, the HardSPL is the critical one. If that installs ok (and it probably will) then it's easier to recover from a bad ROM flash.

New to my diamond, interested in a cooked ROM

Hi there, im fairly new to my Telus Diamond, i love this phone but its giving me some grief with the Touchflo3d being laggy etc...
Anyways I heard you can flash new ROMS that are custom and more stable and help out the phones performance a lot but i have a few questions before I flash.
Here's my phones specs before i ask my questions.
ROM Version: 1.06.661.1 (old i believe)
ROM Date: 07/21/08
Radio Version: 0.99.90v
Hardware Version 0080
and i dont think the rest is important.
And im usuing WM 6.1
ok now here are my questions:
1) If I flash to a cooked ROM, i heard it Erases EVERYTHING, so with that in mind, im a telus customer, does it effect my service plan, ex: can i still use my phone like i bought it and make txt msgs, emails, msn, phone calls etc.. or do i have to set it back up again?
2) Do i have to use the same Radio Version?
3) would my Current network number and Cureent Channel be changed? If so how does that effect my phone?
4) umm with my programs that are on my phone, ex: office mobile, WMP, MP3 trimmer remote desktop etc... will i still have those? Or will i loose the registration for them.
5) this is my last question i believe, would I have to dump my current stock ROM for a backup? Like is that recommended or is there a backup of my ROM already on this website.
I appreciate any help, and sorry for being such a noob. The only thing i've flashed before was a custom firmware on my PSP lol and that was reallly easy...
1)Yes it erases everything the easiest way to explain it is like this: "rom" stands for read only memory.... kind of like a cd rom. And the outcome is the same also, when you flash a new rom it is like writing a new cd image.
2) no you don't have to use the same radio version, but some roms will require certai n radios (most roms come packed with radios though so you shouldn't have to mess with it)
3) Flashing a new rom changes your phone but not your network (your number would still be the same)
4)You will lose anything you installed unless you back it up. Depending in the rom, office mobile and stuff like that might be preloaded.
5) There should be a backup on the website, a dump should not be necessary.
Again on the backup thing you will want to back up are your contacts sms emails ect anything you want to keep before flashing.
Flashing isn't hard, you just need to read the directions MAKE SURE YOU READ BEFORE YOU FLASH. like i said it isn't hard but if you don't read everything before you flash you may turn your phone into a very expensive paper weight.
PS here is a good place to start your reading:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=416211
Alright sweet thank you very much
Im not going to upgrade just yet though because i still want to learn more
about it and im iffy about it mainly cuz i still want to be able to make phone calls lol and i dont see anyone posting anything for the telus versions.
Oh and one more thing before I upgrade the ROM do i have to upgrade the HardSPL first? or can i just use the CID lock, then the ROM?
no, you defenetly would want to cid unlock first, otherwise you will trash your bootloader and brick your phone
ok so Cid unlock, HardSPL, then flash the rom
hard spl is cid unlock after unlocking you are free to flash away
Oh ok, gotcha haha
.. i hope
One more thing lol sorry...
Um that link you sent me for the steps
"[TUT]Complete upgrading guide (HardSPL+Radio+ROM) NOT FOR CDMA USERS!!!"
Well i dont know what CDMA means but Im pretty sure im a CMDA user. So is it safe to still fallow those directions? or must i need to do something different.
read post #4 in that thread, you can't miss it.
is it alright if my Diamond says DIAM500? on all the guides they say DIAM100, when you check the SPL, mine is stock and in the tri colored screen it says:
Security Unlocked
DIAM500 <------ (Do i have to find a ROM specific for this modle?)
SPL-0.57.0000 <------ (I dont see this ver. on the forums anywheres)
MircoP-Diam (LED) vB
PSOC-Diam STAGE_EVT v20
Serial
(its blank)
I didnt run any CID unlockers or anything, any insight?

SIM Unlock help...

Hi all,
I had an O2 XDA Stellar which I believe is the HTC TYTN II. However, this phone was stolen a couple of weeks back. I purchased a second hand one today which is sim locked to the orange network. I managed to break the lock by following the instructions on this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835. I followed the instructions word for word till step 5.
The problem is now though it accepts the SIM and I can dial out, I don't have any audio on the calls So I can call and my phone also rings when I receive a call but I can't hear the caller nor can I be heard at the other end
Also, I hate the orange rom (and I used to complain about the O2 rom) and I wish to use the default HTC WM 6.1 professional upgrade the problem again is that it asks for a serial number and my serial number starts with DCOxxxxxxxxxxx and it says that this is not a valid serial number
What do I do now? Has my phone become a brick Please do help I can't bear the thought of having one stolen and the other toasted by me
All help will be greatly appreciated

Did you actually read anything or did you just start hacking away ? I will cut and paste a few items out of that thread, so that you don't have to actually read it .
PLEASE READ THE *FAQ* BEFORE FLASHING OR ASKING QUESTIONS!!!
* IF YOU DONT NEED TO FLASH A NEW ROM THEN PROCEED TO STEP 6 TO PUT YOUR DESIRED RADIO BACK*
7. After I flash a Rom I dont have any sound in calls and the camera is black
The Radio has to match the version of Rom you flash i.e. WM6.1, an incorrect Radio will give sound and camera problems. Read The Ultimate Radio Thread to find a Radio that matches the Rom there are lots to try on there if one doesnt work then try another.
3. What are the different types of Unlock?[/B] (answer by DaveShaw)
The three stages of unlock are:
SIM: Allows you to use SIM's from another carrier. Can be done using codes or unlocker programs on xda-devs.
Security: Allows you to flash radios from another device - It does other stuff, but this is all the casual user will use it for
CID: CID unlocking is an old concept, nowadays you flash HardSPL instead. This lets you flash any ROM, Splash or Radio (depending on sec unlock) to your device. N.B. the CID is the carrier ID (e.g. HTC__001). The stock SPL's only let you flash ROM's that match the CID in the ROM image with the CID on your device.
Obviously you did not unlock your phone if a serial number is needed to flash a new rom. I would re read everything and do it again
Thanks for the reply

As you can see I'm a bit of a newbie here, so wasn't too sure if I did need to flash to a new rom. But I did anyway. And the call problems still remain

I've been through this link as well and I was contemplating installing the latest version of the HTC WM6.1 ROMS (version 3.34.721.2, radio version 1.70.19.09) available at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_ROMs However I was not sure if this would be ok and (at the risk of sounding extremely dumb) I was not sure what WWE stood for

I maintained the default that was given by the unlocker for the CID (I think all zeros). Do I have to change this as per the ROM image? I don't mind re-doing this again it's a relief that my device isn't busted
No your phone isn't busted. Go into bootloader and check what it says next to spl, if you followed Mark's steps, it should say 3.29 Hard. If that is what it says ,then you can flash any Kaiser rom you want. If it doesn't then start over again.
WWE stands for World Wide English and those roms are all in English. That rom you picked will be fine, if you do not wish to explore the fine world of custom roms ? Maybe later.
You only have to CID unlock once by following the steps, not at every rom flash.
No sound means wrong radio, 6.0 roms need 6.0 radios and 6.1 roms need 6.1 radios. If the rom has a radio in it already then flash away.
Thanks Denco Flashed the ones I mentioned and it works perfect. Can't believe I actually have a working device Thanks for all your help, really great.
Now to sync my data to my new (second hand) htc and I'm good to go
Another question, the device works fine, however since it is a HK rom, it seems to have localised to HK. I've changed this as much as possible to UK. However, I'm wondering if this will affect anything else? For example the gps? Is there any quicker way to configure this globally so all settings use UK instead of HK?
Why didn't you flash the latest UK ROM.
Use this code: HT750GB02264 to download from HTC's site.

Once you are unlocked and HardSpl'd you can flash any rom you want. Pick a UK one another WWE rom or a custom rom. Test a bunch until you have one you like. Your only restriction is it has to be a Kaiser rom. And with all the Kaiser roms available, it is not a restriction at all.

Wow, thanks for that, I was looking for a valid serial through which I can download from the htc uk site One question I had is do I install the radio which I download from htc? Or do I keep the one I have already flashed? The one I have flashed yesterday seems to be a later version than what I've downloaded from htc

1. I keep hearing on this forum about Hard SPL, I'm not sure what this is used for or why it is required but I followed the instructions and it seems I had installed JumpSPL1.56-KAIS.exe. Now, since then I had flashed the rom, so do I need to reinstall this again? Is there some other one I should be using? I come across different versions on some threads. Also, how can I check the version of HardSPL I have?
2. When I view the memory (under settings) it shows me Storage and Program. However, I can't seem to see any storage area in file explorer. I know in my old xda 2i, there used to be a separate storage area. The reason is because some of the apps I install are quite bulky for example lexisgoo english dictionary (the dictionary files themselves are about 18mb) and this fills up the main memory. How can I install this in the storage memory? (not storage card since I sometimes swap storage cards)
Sorry lot of questions I know, but I'm a newbie and all help will be greatly appreciated
The UK downloaded ROM will install the radio too.
I would do a bit of testing with your current set-up, then flash the UK ROM.
Test the new UK ROM & radio & then reflash the radio only if you want (do some searching on Radio versions)
Newer versions are not always best, chasing the latest builds normally bites you in the ass at the end of the day.
Check HardSPL by going into bootloader:
* Using a stylus, press and hold the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone along with the camera button
* Release both buttons once the bootloader screen appears
* Exit bootloader by pressing soft reset button
Once you have installed HardSPL thats it, job done (you installed it during unlocking)
What you see in file explorer regarding storage is correct: 128MB RAM for running software ect & 256MB ROM for storing your programs ect (WM2003SE was different)
ROM can be increased by using one of the cooked lite ROMs if storage space is a concern.

Will do, the HK version seems very stable, the only thing that bothers me is the region settings. Anyway, I think I'll give the UK Rom a go and if that works well I'll stick with it

I've attached a screenshot of my memory screen. The bit that puzzles me is that the storage area apparently has a lot more storage but I do not have an option to install all my applications on that area or atleast the bulky ones. I don't think I need a lite one since I do have 112MB free in the storage area which is more than sufficient for all the apps I usually install. Can you advise how I can install apps to the storage area as well?
Lastly, I was wondering if it is possible for me install my apps on the rom and then kind of take an image of my setup and flash the rom with this setup. That way when I do a hard reset, all my apps are installed again. Which will save me the trouble I know sprite backup does something like this but I'd prefer if it was in the rom
Thanks for all your help, it has given me a lot of confidence in these matters. Something I probably wouldn't have attempted

I agree 101% and it appears fewer resources are put into ironing out bugs in the WM 6.1 ROMs than the WM 6.0 ones. I replied to fmervin's post in the ROM forums along these lines.
If all is running OK I would stick with your current HardSPL.
When installing your applications choose the option of installing to "Device"
You could install all your apps into a ROM, this would be cooking a ROM & is a complex process.
I would suggest a backup via Sprite or SPB. I use SPB v2.0 build3065 & it works well for me, preference of backup software is a bit of a Marmite scenario, you either love it or hate it.

You can't do that, it is flash memory. It's not like you can partition the hard drive.
But this is the easiest way to get your Apps and settings back after a flash.
Try this Sashimi Auto installer by a former XDA member. It is a nice little program that installs all your apps after a flash

Hey Denco..Than'x for considering my thread & giving out suggestion towards the link to check the info. But i m really nt that techy afterall so i can burn a ROM on my Tytn II. Even though i tried to burn a RUU rom that supports TyTN II ..Its just gets disconnected from USB mode..So i was looking forward to start it initially with some comparatively easier to install .cab files..Can't these RUU files be transformed into .cab files or maybe some other version of Manila 3D cab file that is completely fixed...I seriously have done a lot of research upon this but nothing looks like working. So please if you have some links to .cab files that can give a better & different look to my Kaiser running Windows 6.1...It'l be a great help !!

I think you need to decide what it is that you want to accomplish. Unless you cook your own rom, there is no way to add apps to the rom ( so that they will remain after a hard reset) Your rom is wyour phone's base operating system, it contains your OS (WM 6.1 ) and can only be replaced after completely erasing and replacing all files from the previous rom.
If it is a new rom you want, pick a rom that interests you and follow these instructions verbatim .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=433835
Your phone will go to the bootloader screen ( three color) and it will disconnect from usb during the process, but be patient until the end. When it says it takes ten minutes, it takes ten minutes. Leave the room if you have to , to keep from getting impatient.
If you just want to keep your OEM WM 6.1 and keep it simple, but change the look of your phone try this,
http://www.htcwiki.com/page/Manila+2D+and+M2D+Themes
This will change the look and feel of your phone with uninstallable .cab files and will not affect the rom or brick your phone by accident.

flashing a custom rom to gsm/cdma hybrid?

Hi guys, im new here, and trying to navigate around here is very difficult when you don't know all the technical terms (being a noob sucks).
I have an Unlocked Sprint TP2, that appears to be a CDMA/GSM hybrid. ive been googling for roms but from what i have heard, there is no custom roms avaliable yet for a CDMA/GSM Sprint hybrid and i really dont want to mess up my phone. Its unlocked from America (i live in Australia) and the stock from is fine but i would much prefer a custom rom, though one that it is equally stable and fast. I have heard Mighty's Roms are of the kind im looking for yet i dont know if they're avaliable for my phone specifically.
This is my first time flashing a rom and i need information. To my understanding i believe i require:
1. a softspl to flash the hardspl
2. a hardspl to flash the rom
3. and of course the rom itself.
Any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated!
Actually, the CDMA Worldphones (including the Sprint model) have many custom ROMs available. Since XDA-Developers is primarily a GSM forum, not many ROMs exist here. Rather, you should try the more CDMA oriented PPCGeeks. This PPCGeeks subforum contains different ROMs, and the HardSPL unlocker for the Worldphone Rhodium models (RHOD400 & RHOD500).
And all you need to do to install HardSPL is download it from one of the stickies (from the link I provided) and run the file you download while your phone is plugged in, so you don't even need to worry about manually using an SSPL. After you do that, you can simply install any ROM (from the link I provided) by connecting your device to your computer and running the CustomRUU.exe file usually included with ROMs you download (don't use the CustomRUU that comes with the HardSPL package). Alternatively, you can install a ROM by renaming the NBH file to RHODIMG.NBH, putting it on your phone's SD card, and manually entering the booloaded (press [volume down] and power at the same time while the device is powered off).
The "hybrid" CDMA/GSM phones just need a CDMA ROM. Don't flash a GSM ROM, it won't work. But a CDMA ROM will be fine, as Dave has said.
Check out the Rhodium CDMA sub-forum here too.

I didn't know such a thing existed! Will your phone work on GSM networks (like Vodafone UK)? And does it have a 3.5mm earphone jack?
I know it's off-topic would appreciate any reply ... thanks ...

Yes, that's the idea. It has a SIM card slot that you can use when you want to use it on GSM. I have no idea about the jack though.
