Well spotted (if not photographed ), hoping the Defender becomes available outside the U.S. soon.
ummm, it fills my lappy lol
I just picked one up and it works great. I don't think the buttons are hard to press at all...
My only complaint right now is that the cutout on the back that allows the Dell logo to shine though isn't lined up right at all. It's kind of annoying...
I'm going to write Otterbox about it. I'll post pics later if I remember...
Is it thicker then the Impact case?
Edit: pic links should be fixed...
For everyone's viewing pleasure I have (had) the impact case, decided to go for the commuter mainly for the fact that it looked easier to pull out of my pocket and I liked the style more. Seems to be the same thickness, also seems to fit a bit more snug which I really like. Only thing I may not like is the plug at the bottom for the charge port, would like it to fit a bit more snug. Other than that, LOVE it.
In case your curious, photos taken with my lady's evo (not that impressed with th quality IMO...)

Hmmm, weird that your logo lines up. Mine definitely does not. I might have to exchange this thing out...
Yeah, how did you get the logo to line up.

I bought one of the cheap jelly cases on eBay for 6.97. It actually is slimmer then otterbox but still offers protection. I prefer it over my amzer jellycase and otterbox impact case.

Well when I look close, the logo is low to the left, but not cut off anywhere. I wonder if the sticker on the back varies between streaks - its not a imprint or impression, literally just a sticker. But i do wonder if its the case or the logo. Seemed alright on the impact as well. Doesn't seem like there's a whole lot of play with the case, so I don't think there's a 'trick' to getting it lined up? I took the case off, then put it back on... logo still sits low and to the left of the circle like before.
I think you're right that it's a sticker, but I think the battery cover is indented a bit where the sticker goes so it would be hard to line it up wrong on the battery cover.
I could deal with the small amount yours is off, but mine is way off.
Here is how mine sits, I'm going to email Otterbox about this and see what they say...
That would irritate me
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Yeah, yours is way off... I'd be disappointed as well with that. Another reason it's probably the sticker - the commuter has 2 separate layers. You wouldn't think both layers would be off by that much...

I just bought my phone from Best Buy a couple days ago, maybe Dell did something different with the battery cover with the Best Buy phones?

I doubt that... Changing the position of the sticker would mean changing the factory build process... I doubt Dell would do something silly like that since the cost involved.
have a few questions, how easy is to get the cover and the back door on/off to replace the battery? is the otterbox really tight or is it easy to remove? and why would you pick one against the other? and how do both perform when playing "draw" (cowboy style) with your phone, can you in a hurry effitiently take out your streak from your trouser/pants pockets to answer a call ON TIME? How many rings before you have the streak up to your ear?
sorry i have so many questions

- The impact is easier to get on/off, since it's just one layer. The commuter does fit tighter, but I wouldn't consider it "difficult" to remove and get access to your batter.
- Why one or the other? For me, the commuter looks and feels of higher quality, fits more snug, seems to have good corner protection. The answer to all your questions contribute to why one or the other.
- Taking it out of your pocket - main reason for me to get the commuter. Its easier to get in/out of your pockets with the hard shell. But i like that you still have some grip with the silicone on the sides and front. Can't comment on how many rings, but i'd say its close to as if it didn't have any case at all.
- I will say the impact is much better in terms of grip. I'm never worried holding this one handed in landscape when i had the impact. The commuter makes me a bit more cautious, but isn't like it's slippery either. The impact seemed like it was glued to the leather seats in the car - commuter, not as much but better than stock
Thanks !! very helpful.
Have any of you got the invisibleshield full body protector on? Am wondering if it will fit with the commuter case, thanks.
Also anyone in the UK able to buy the commuter case as that's where I am located.

HTC Incredible Otterbox Defender series
So after my first evening with the case I thought I'd post my initial impressions. The case is a dust/lent magnet but this is no different than other silicone cases I've seen. I've had some issues with the screen protector sticking to my phantom skinz protector but it's quickly fixed by pressing on both sides of the case. It's nothing like I used to see on my 3gs Defender.
The screen protector does affect viewing quality of the screen, but it's not bad and you get used to it. The screen still looks better compared to the EVO's washed out screen.
The belt clip works well. My 3gs only fell because of the poor belt clip design, but this one seems more secure. Speaking of which, no drop test yet
Here are some additional up close images. I'm showing the cover for the lens / flash as well as the inside of the front cover. You can see the hole for the optical trackball and the dark cloth that covers the speaker.
I also have a couple more things to note.
1. Without my Phantom Skinz applied (I had front only) the phone feels loose inside the case. Not sure if this is by design.
2. Again, without the Phantom Skinz, I eliminated the sticky screen issue but now it feels like a resistive touch screen of sorts. You can feel the protector depress onto the glass.
3. Lint/Dust magnet!
4. It feels great in the hand and the belt clip is much better than the 3gs and older style defender clips. I haven't had one accidental drop. When I used my 3gs it would always fall out.
5. I compared it to a friends 3gs defender and a Seidio Rugged case and it's actually bulkier than both! It was surprising, but not much bulkier.

Will it fit with the HTC 2150 extended battery?
I received my case yesterday but it seems just a tad too big since the phone slided back and forth when you shake it.

I also just got the Defender for my Incredible and my case does the same thing. When I shake it side to side you can hear the phone move. This is my first Otterbox so I just assumed it was normal.
Its not normal, I called Otterbox and they are sending me a new case but they are on backorder so it will probably be a while. Told me to throw the other one away...
I have since fixed the sliding issue but cutting a few slivers out of a business card and putting on both sides and at the bottom. Shouldn't have to do this with a $50 case but whatever works I guess.

I have the Seidio Rugged and I couldn't be happier, and since it's designed as two seperate cases you have the option of just using the inner Innocase. Also the Seidio belt clip locks and it's near impossible the get the phone out without unlocking it, just my two cents
rant...
I ordered my case moments after getting the notification email last Thursday. I rang them today to ask if my order was okay and was told that they are backordered nearly two weeks.....I live only three hours from them and they shipped out-of-state orders first?!?.....
I'm on the edge here.....
Thanks for listening.
Shakes in the case? That's very disappointing... I'm waiting till I hear better reviews. Thanks for the post.

My defender also fits a little odd. The Incredible moves around within the inner shell as if it were loose. I called Otterbox and they agreed to send me a replacement under the condition I would have to send the original back so they could inspect it.
That thing is way to big.
Today I called otterbox because my case also has a loose fit. I realized this after removing the Phantom Skinz screen protector. Otterbox says that this is not intended and are sending me a replacement. The item is on back-order, hopefully the next batch don't have this issue.
In the mean time I've stuffed my case with two pieces of paper and it's fits much better. I didn't fold them, just placed them on the back side.

I received my replacement case today and the fit is just as bad as the original. I called in to let them know and she said that was the first she had heard of it. We shall see what happens next.
....And I can't even get one having ordered over a week ago....sigh....
You guys drop your phones a lot?
A lot? No. But it only takes one.
I agree, dropping one can cause some good damage if naked, but my Seidio case has served me well. But I dunno if I want to double or near triple the thickness of my phone for a drop that may or may not happen.
It's just really hard to justify a case that looks like it's made for off road racing.

Sorry to say that I got mine today and I'm not sure I want it any more. After reading that others have received phones with the same issue, replacements have had the same issue, my belt clip broke exactly 1 week after I got the phone, and I feel that I waited this long for a product still in development
Dang....if mine is all rattly I may just have to drive my lazy arse down there and shake it under their nose.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with this case:

It can also be purchased from Amazon.com for a bit cheaper:

Here is my video review:

Excellent. I have bought one through Amazon, though the price is astronomical (because of unusual shape), it is worth the money. In initial days I did a lot of SD card swap, SIM swap so the rubber loosened up a little bit, but it is keeping my phone like new in spite of a few bumps.
I have the otterbox case and I think it changes the angle at which the usb/charge cable is attached.
I think over time it is going to cause damage to the micro usb slot.
Otterbox is way too thick and bulky. I prefer SGP Ultra Capsule Case

It already did. At least I managed to break the little cover in a few weeks. And yes there is a high potential that even the contacts will get damaged if not handled carefully through the slot.
I was actually thinking about taking a dremmel tool to mine and sand it down a bit. It's the top of the bevel that causes the problem. I have to agree that there is a huge potential for damage in the long term.
SGP is way better!
I've had the Zagg & the SGP.
My buddy has the Otterbox.
The Zagg doesn't look great & tends to 'smear'.
The SGP is slim fitting, firm & cushy. The screen protector is very good.
The otterbox is a big & puffy, looks like a retard's helmet.
You have to be a douche bag to use the otterbox IMHO.

I know. I'm just goofing around.
I actually only use my otterbox when I know that I'm going to be outside for a long time. I don't want to drop the phone and break it now that I have it just the way I like it!
Even though the SGP case is nice, nothing beats the look of the phone without anything on... Only use the case when I have to since I just love the look of the XT720 natural. The screen protector for SGP XT720 feels good, but I just noticed the other day a small hole in the screen protector - no idea how it happened. Fortunately it's at the bottom by the buttons and not by the actual screen so no big deal but I can't figure out how it could have gotten such a hole... wonder if that would have happened with otterbox.
my otterbox case just came in today, it fits nicely & looks pretty solid too...very pleased with it!!^^

I live in Panamà, so i order it from Ebay ...
I've had this Otterbox since I got my phone last September and have been pretty satisfied with it. I had a similar one on my Blackberry that had the hard case on the inside of the rubber case and the rubber loosened up. Not on this version....even after the numerous battery & SD card pulls during the ROM flashing fun. I do a fair amount of outside work so I feel the need to protect my phone as much as I can.
Also, I used the screen protector that came with the Otterbox, but when I had to replace my phone, it got boogered up. When the new one came, I simply left the temporary shipping screen protector on and it's done quite well.
Accidents happen (Accident After-Action Report) XD
Well I have even more love for this case. Recently I was in a bicycle accident that ripped my chin open and required many stitches. My phone/music player is always in the front synch pouch of my slingbag when I'm riding. When I flew over my handlebars and landed on my chin, I also landed right on the phone and I slid a good 3-4 feet before I stopped. While my chin was pretty messy by this time, my phone came out intact and with a lot less scratches and gauges then I thought. On the plus side, it even has a bit of soaked-in blood on the scratches that makes it look badass .
Overall, I've gotten quite a bit of value out of my initial 34.99 that I payed for it and I'm still using the case since. Hope my future replacement for my XT720 will have as good of a case as my Otterbox.
EDIT: Pics for proof.

I really like OtterBox. I had one for pretty much every phone I owned unless Powerskin made an extended battery case.
I really like the OtterBox Commuter Series Case
Its one of the few available for the Atrix HD.
I had a chance to check it out and it feels nice and you get what you payed for. Although I've been meaning to swing by and buy one, I've just been too lazy or just enjoying the really eye pleasing Atrix HD design. It's almost a shame a case would hide it's good looks. But I think the Otterbox case I mentioned does a really great job of preserving the good looks as well as protecting your phone unlike those cheap 10 dollar china branded ones you find at those shady lil cell phone accessory stores at the mall.
I went with the Incipio feather case as I had it for the og Atrix. It seems to be better made than the other as I went through 4 of these on the og Atrix.
I want the Incipio Feather case because i've read that it was the only case that would fit the docks (with removing the no case tab on the back) made for previous Atrix phones and I have both the desk & car docks. would of loved to of gotten a seidio commuter case if it would fit the docks.
I have been a fan of Otterbox cases since the iPhone 3gs came out, I have had an otterbox on every phone since, I am sure there are probably better cases out there, but otterbox has always been amazing on replacements, and warranty. So I am waiting on the Defender's Series case.

I've got an Otterbox Commuter, but the volume buttons are particularly difficult to press. Anyone else notice this?
Just got the Otterbox Defender series case for my AHD this afternoon. It fits very well and everything but it seems like the touchscreen got MORE sensitive after I put it on. I had no problem using the phone naked, I wonder if I need to take it off and reclean both the phone screen and the inside of the clear plastic cover on the Otterbox.

I've had the otterbox defender for a week. Great protection - it feels like a brick now. However, the screen is way more sensitive as well as the buttons are harder to press. I can deal with the side buttons but I will eventually have to deal with this screen sensitivity issue.

No, anything that puts any kind of bulk on the top of the case will remove the chance of you being able to dock. I have an incipio feather that doesn't cover the top so it works fine with the desk dock, but i also have a cruzerlite case that does cover the top so it have a very week connection to the desk dock (still possible for night use, just doesn't like it if you move it too much

There ya have it, the perfect sleeve for your nexus 7. Ever since i saw my mac toting cronie friends slide their macbooks into those neoprene sleeves like a glove, i've longed for the same expereince.
who is this for?
1. If you don't want to compromise the slim design of the nexus with a case.
2. You take your nexus 7 around with you a bunch. Perhaps would like to toss it into a bad or backpack but fear the reprocutions.
Lol as i write that list it starting feeling too much like an infomercial, but seriously, I've never heard of this brand before so i was giddy as could be to come out a victor. I slapped a zagg clear screen cover on my nexus have been walking around with a huge bulge in my pocket due to my fear of what would happen if i put it in my bag with my books and laptop.
The build it top notch. Neoprene feels good, the colors are bright. Zippers are solid and there is a neoprene lip that covers the inside track of the zipper to protect contact against your device. ANNNNNDDD of course it is just wonderful that it literally fits LIKE A GLOOOOVE. zero room for movement. And with a tiny front pocket zipper for perhaps cards, usb cable, or headphones. Other colors run for 8$ ish... red was the most expensive.

Good to know it is working out for you ....I would still be careful if it is really tight although you might not notice it right now but the edges of nexus 7 might start getting scratched.
here is another review from one of the other colors:
"Nice little case but unfortunately it doesn't fit the nexus 7!
Even tho it says it does.
Maybe it does if you don't have any kind of case on the nexus 7 and if you use 4 oz of axle grease!
I am returning it"
Ya ill keep an eye out however I've used it non stop, in out in out, and initially at least no signs of scratches! Ya about that review I did say this was for someone not wanting to use a case, defiantly would not fit. Grease would be a poor solution .... But the whole reason and all my praises came back to the point that it was a snug fit. I'll say it again with a naked nexus 7 its a perfect fit. Not hard at all to get it in and it fits perfectly and snug
Cheers
Thanks been looking for ANY REVIEW on Kroo cases.
I'll see if this one fits my budget.
I like my Nexus naked, but if I want to bring it to the gym if I plan to do a big bike session it's good to be able to catch up on some Tv shows without having to worry about it.
Hi there,
Its a pretty sleeve, i use sleeve case with my notebook, although i prefer using a flip case on my nexus, since it feels more secure, depending on the cases ofc. P.e. I got one from Belkin witch is designed for nexus 7 only, the tablet does not feel bulky at all, in fact it looks pretty nice, ill take some pictures so you can see what im talking about. Still, you have that extra factor, if the N7 falls with a cover it might not break the screen, but if it falls without it, well, that could be an whole other story. I respect your opinion though.
Ill be opening a thread about my case later, hope you check it out.

I prefer my tablet naked as I feel any case adds bulk and weight I don't want. Yet I worry about damage whenever I go anywhere. A sleeve like this is a great solution to my worries. I have one for my netbook and love it but never thought about a sleeve for my Nexus, no idea why.

you can get em high street ranging from £1 - £25 lol
Might go naked on my N7 with this. With a Screen Protector, of course. Looks very nice and thanks for the review.
I used this for a long time and it worked perfectly even with a tpu case on the Nexus 7. After trying a few sleeves this one was truly a perfect fit and I don't think it would have damaged the Nexus without the tpu case it was a good fit without being too tight of a fit.
After cracking the screen on my Note 2 with a very short less than 2 foot drop I decided I needed to upgrade the protection on my phone. I had a Cruzerlite on there and I thought that was about as good as you could get until you started getting into the big bulky dual and triple layer cases. After looking over my options I picked up the Belkin Snap Folio case at a Verizon store today. Lots of things I like about it and a couple of things I don't. I wasn't sure I would like a folio style case as I think the cover would be a PITA. After a whole day I'm getting used too it, not saying I'm loving the flip open style case but it is growing on me. It does add some thickness to the phone, not as bad as a Defender or the like but more so that my TPU case. It is a little more difficult to pull out of my bluejeans (Levis slim cut) pocket because of the size, the soft leather body which is grippier, and the snap tab which will grab the edge of the pocket. I don''t know if thi will go away with some use but the snap closure curls up when it is used as a stand and obstructs the phone. Hopefully this will go away as I work and break in the leather. There is an indention for the home button on the cover so it lessens the chance of accidental presses waking the device. The leather is soft and the case has a good high quality feel too it. Although it does feel like a quality product don't confuse that for the feel of a premium product you will get some some of the more expensive leather cases available on the market.

There is a hard rubberized plastic shell that is fused to the inside of the leather folio case. I like this design because of the way all 4 corners are protected. The thick still leather body also adds quite a bit of protection and will help absorb the energy of a fall. I also like the security of the cover protecting the glass during a fall. My wife broke her GSII when it fell and hit a pebble sticking up out of the grass. The fit is perfect and all ports like up exactly. With the case closed you have access to the power button, USB port, and headset port. The headset port looks like it is partially blocked but that isn't the case. It is unobstructed and you will have no problems fitting any headphones. My Westones which usually have a hard time fitting into any case unmodified have no problems with this case.
Nice write-up... thx for posting. I've considered a folio case, but have one huge concern. Does the front cover easily fold all the way around to the back (so it's flat on back cover) to allow access to the volume rockers? I frequently use my Note2 in landscape mode (games, landscape typing, etc) and am curious if this case folds all the way back so phone can be held in landscape mode and access volume keys. Thx
Good review.
I am also interested to know if you can bend it all the way back.
DoctorQMM, you can with the official flip case serie and they are very durable. I see absolutely no sign of wear to the fold on mine after two intense moths of use! One word of warning however. The inside of the white one gets very dirty.
Zero problem folding all the way back on itself. I use it that way the majority of the time
Folded back on itself.
A bit fugly for my taste, but it appears to be quite functional.
I prefer vertical flips as it seems more natural (to me) to let the cover fall and talk. With side flips you have to bend them for sure. As this one has a speaker cutout I guess you can always close it after the call is initiated, and then hang up with the power button.
Two major flaws tho... once again they didn't bother to add a cutout for the notification light, meaning that if the phone is in the desk and closed, you will never see events. And they also didn't bother to cut for the volume rocker on the left side. I'm starting to think that if I want a proper case I have to learn some leathersmith skills and buy some equipment. Maybe create a BeoCase business. /heads to kickstarter.com
I have one of these cases. Highly recommend!
This is my signature....
I'm starting to think that these cheap tpu cases are not good for even small drops. I wonder if it would be appropriate to start a thread on which cases can actually survive a drop and which cases do not. Doesn't matter if it's a $2 ebay case or a $60 defender.
Not a big fan of these Folio cases because they expose too much of the top and/or bottom.
Does the flap that keeps the cover down become annoying while trying to use the phone?

Don't notice it normally. Now that I have use it a little it sits flatter when using the stand feature so it isn't that bad any more and doesn't get in the way.

What does this have to do with the OP?

I mentioned that my screen cracked with a TPU case in the OP, which probably prompted that post.
Sorry to bump an old thread but I'm wonder how the inner case is affixed to the leather outer. Is it just glued? I like this case but am concerned the inner will eventually come apart from the outer.
Thanks

Just got this case and I love it. From what I can see it looks glued together.

Thanks, I bit the bullet and got one too. I like it a lot. Exactly what I've been looking for.
