You can remove the camera shutter sound on your LG GT540.
For that, for example, using Root Explorer, edit the file:
/data/local/tmp/3rd_party/Arcsoft/Camera/camera.conf
Then find shutter_sound=1 and modify to shutter_sound=0
Save and exit.
That´s all.

After installed Cyano V6.1.0-RC1 (10/28/2010) the sound (Click) of shutter don't work.
There is the file system\media\audio\ui\camera_click.ogg and if I launch it from root explorer work properly.
With FR91 and Emo the sound of camera shutter work perfectly.
The volume is up ed i haven't applications for disable this.
What can I do?

I've upgraded this week from Zeus 3 to Zeus 6.22 and I noticed a problem with the camera shutter sound.
While it is possible to turn it off in the camera settings menu, it is being reset to the first sound after a reboot of the device.
Would be great if it would be finally completely mutable.

Do you mean the shutter or the focus sound? Because with me both are muted.
Shutter trough camera settings and focus trough zeus settings . Quite few restarts and recoveries and works without fail, and i should know as i use the camera all the time.
I also experience the sound reset in all the ROMs i tried including the stock.
No, I really meant the shutter sound, not the focus sound.
Good to see that I'm not the only one with that problem..

I had the same problem. Go into the ZeusTweaker and remove the focus sound, and then go into settings in the camera are select "no sound" as shutter sound. Then don't play with the settings again, and it should be fine. That's how I fixed mine.
Please tell me guys, what file I need to remove to have the camera sound silent (in picture mode) Although I remove all the files in system/media/audio/ui there is still one sound ON when I take a picture (no sound when using video recording though)
I think it is the sound of focus.

I never knew stock ics has that feature of silent camera. I was finding ways to silent my shutter. Thanks for the info.

Found the fix..... for the Australian STOCK ROMS on the Australian delivered SM-G900I phones not letting the camera shutter sound be muted.
First of all, You need ROOT access to your phone.
In system\csc there is a file called customer.xml
In there, you will find the following which prevents the camera shutter sound from being muted...

</Multimedia>
Delete these lines and then the shutter sound will be muted when the phone sound is muted.
Make sure the file permissions are stilll 0644.
Reboot phone.
Set the phone to muted sound and the camera shutter will also be muted.
* Modifying this file will set your phone to "Custom" if its not already. *
Alternatively, you can change the following...

Anyone knows how to mute shutter sound (camera-screenshot) in stock camera? My version doesn't have option to mute the sound in setting
Looking around xda, got several method to do that
1) use good lock's routines or other tasker app - set system vol 0 while on camera
2) delete file in system/media/ui
3) edit csc feature
i have done both 2 and 3 method, doesn't work. if possible i want avoid using tasker app just to mute camera sound (1).
my question is, where is the real location of camera's shutter media file? Is there any other way to mute shutter sound? i have root so any way that work will do
You can use silent mode pro from the store. It will do the job perfectly.
