What one click are you referring to? If you are talking about odin one click, the only thing you should be using that for is going back to stock before flashing a rom. If a rom is flashable through clockwork than you would just put it on your internal sd card and follow the instructions for flashing through Rom Manager. If it is a rom that is supposed to be flashed with odin you would have to open up the zip file you downloaded and enter the appropriate files into odin.

WELL **** I flashed a rom now im stuck on congnition rom and i cant flash another one can u help

You need to be more descriptive if you want people to figure out a solution to your specific problem. Your post amounts to "I flashed a rom, I'm having problems, vague reference to rom manager, help guys".
Here's what we need:
1. What version of Android are you trying to flash?
2. What version are you currently running?
3. What modifications have you done?
4. What is the specific error you are getting?
5. What is the EXACT process you are using to try to flash the new rom?

READ READ READ READ READ, THEN READ SOME MORE!
you obviously have not read enough. there are 2 versions of ODIN we use for our phones:
One click ODIN which is simply a prepackaged version of the regular ODIN configured with the appropriate files that ODIN needs to flash our phones with it....they are packaged up by a developer named DesignGears. not every rom is going to have a one click odin....
there is also regular ODIN which requires you to have the appropriate files associated with your rom (kernel, pit file, modem, csc file, and rom), sometimes devs will package as much of that as possible into one or 2 files to flash in ODIN
you need to spend some time learning how to use these or just use the one click and go back to stock, then leave your phone alone. seriously, freaking out on a forum is not the right way to go about getting help for your phone.
calm down and give up the info that modest_mandroid has requested. none of us magically know what the heck you are talking about when you spout out random things like help, i flashed something and now i cant do anything else

[Q] Custom Boot Splashscreen

I have a captivate running Cognition 2.3b8 and want to change/remove the ATT kernal boot splashscreen. I have found tutorials for many other devices but not the captivate. Most use bootloader/fastboot which to my knowledge does not exist on the captivate. Some use a modified PDA file thing with ODIN however my rom is packaged as a zip so i don't know what files to edit. Any help would be apreciated. Ohh, and is it possible to perminitly brick doing this, im fine with doing CWM restore and Odin flash stock if I have problems.

There is a thread its either in the development, or in Themes and apps.
Not to be rude but use ur search tool. I know its there, seeing as i've done it. Be patient and look.
Mods please close thread.

Need help with installing a custom rom.

Please help!!! I have searched and searched and searched the forums and have come across so many threads on how to add a custom rom to your Captivate.
To start, what I have been trying to do is add a custom rom after upgrading my phone from ver 2.2 to 2.3.3 GB. Some posts say you can just upgrade with the 2.3 on the phone, other posts say you need to take the phone back to the stock 2.1 rom. Then you find posts that say, make sure you have the stock bootloaders and kernals when you downgrade to the stock 2.1.
You can easily see how even a somewhat above novice can get confussed. To take my phone back to 2.1 I have followed posts that say use Odin 1.3. I have used odin before so no big deal. However in this case again you are getting different opionions and versions on this. Some have just the odin .exe and others have the .exe and the MD5 and .ini it the package. I am assuming that the one with just the .exe has everything built in as the size is quite big.
I have tried both ways and after I "Flash" it will not finish with the normal recovery mode and see the linux script. It will go to the ATT window and just keep rebooting over and over. I then will use my JIG and get back in download mode in order to reflash back to 2.3.3 just to get the phone to work again.
Can someone please give me a clue as to what I am doing wrong or direct me to the proper files and maybe some better step by step instructions.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Here is the info:
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I897UCKF1
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-I897UCKF1-CL273832
Build: GIGERBREAD.UCKF1
^ From the looks of what u posted, it looks like u have the leaked i897uckf1 currently on ur phone. If that is the case, then u could Odin the Cognition Beta 2 Kernel and then flash the latest Cog Rom (having already copied it to ur internal sd).
Just flash the kernel through Odin then use button combo (volume +/- and power...release after u see the at&t screen) to get into CWM 4.0.0.5 and flash Cog 5 v 1.00 from there.

Are you plugging into a usb port in the back of your pc? Also, there are several methods for flashing back to stock now, once you upgrade to GB bootloaders you don’t ever want to use the Odin with the button fix because it will only flash the secondary bootloader and the primary bootloader will remain GB and the result will be a hardbrick. Also, some of the newer builds came with Froyo installed and using the older 1 click Odin by DesignGears will put those devices in a bootloop. So it really is dependent on your device and your needs. I now use the method outlined in the Continuum 6.1 thread which will not touch the bootloaders and brings you safely back to 2.1 stock. I always clear user data and cache in recovery, flash back to stock using Cezar's method (not a 1 click) prior to flashing a new Rom. Most devs recommend flashing to stock first because there is less chance of corruption.

Listen, I'm new at this and learned watchin mobiletech videos from youtube. At first I found it hard but now is pretty easy (in my opinion). The first thin I do is back up apps with titanium and paste to my laptop (for me is faster to install them back), go back to stock 2.2, master reset using dialer (no odin), root, reboot, install rom on sd card, using odin i install bootloaders (I9000), flash talon kernel (odin), flash rom (CWM) and reboot. That's how I do it. Now, I could b wrong but doing it that way, in that pattern works for me. Like I said, I'm new at this but trust me....I've done it several times and it works for me. Keep reading and then decide how you want to do it. Good luck..."HONESTLY"!!!
It all depends on where you are now and where you want to go.

I'm new to all of this and have done a good amount of research but seems like the information never ends and there are a few ways to load a custom rom.
Method one
BACK UP!!!
Flash to stock (FTS)
Wait for your phone to reboot and then re-enable debugging
Hook phone back up to pc and Master Clear (MC) using Odin
Load Clockwork update.zip (DOWNLOAD)
Load FireFly_X-X.zip to phone memory
Remove sim and external SD, and unplug USB
Boot into recovery and reinstall packages (You may have to reinstall packages twice to get to Clockwork recovery)
Once in Clockwork recovery (Green Text), select install zip from SDcard
Next select choose zip from sdcard
Scroll down to FireFly_X-X.zip and select the file
This will run the script and install the ROM to your phone
After this is done, select go back and then select reboot phone
This may take a while, so leave your phone and go grab a snack!
Method 2
Load ROM file onto phone
Boot into recovery
Select ROM and flash it
Reboot, wait and enjoy
Wash, rinse, repeat!
What are the differences? Which one is better?
Seems like the first video is very simple and straight forward?
Am I missing something here? I'm already rooted and used titanium backup.
I'm on 2.2 Froyo and wanting to flash to Firefly 3.0
Thanks!

[Q] How to return to stock?

I have not flashed a ROM yet, but when I do how would I go back to stock? I made a CWM backup of being stock rooted, but I want to know of another way to go back. When I had the AT&T Galaxy S2, all I had to do was flash the tar file in Odin. I searched the development section and only found modified KJ4(2.3.5) and KKA(2.3.6) ROMs. I have the Polish Note if that matters.
Edit: I think I may have found the right way to go back to stock KKA. Just by placing the stock zimage using Chanfires method ^_^
Edit2: Meh figured it out

Yeah I definitely know that part, I'm more concerned about the way of doing it.
I heard that flashing through Odin would cause the yellow triangle as it would set off the flash counter... Can please you link me to the stock ROM that is flashable through Odin if this isn't the case? OR an alternative method besides the one I posted above.
I do in fact have tha same questions. I even went off topic in a ROM release thread about it.
I'm a longtime HTC user and with long time i mean since like 2002ish. I have no fear to mess around with HTC stuff since I know my way around and know exactly how to brick it, if I really want to ;-)
Things look different with the Note thought. The recovery doesnt stick but is kernel dependant, Odin seems to be similar to HBOOT but shouldn't be used since it tells Sammy what one did to its device. Flashing can be done by this that or another way, it all looks so weird and chaotic to a HTC camper... lol.

Cheers guys for the great info .
ive been following this thread for a while now , and i would like to suggest to the experts , if possible , to make a full step by step guide for how to revert to stock (including the whole stock kernel re-flashing process for different note models) bcos to be honest , i think many of us have this same question and are hesitated as the whole process sounds confusing.
i could be one of them as this is my first samsung device , coming from HTC Desire HD ,where flashing and development for samsung devices (as far as i know) is quite different from that on HTC devices.
Thank you again for the efforts , would be highly appreciated to get that guide post up.

Yeah he did update it. That's where I got the idea about just using Chainfire's Initial Root Flasher and placing the zImage in that folder. On the bottom of the OP, he put
Now How I can revert back to Stock ROM/Unroot (In case of replacemet may i need)
I you have Just rooted only but not added CWM - Just Download this Extract - Execute - Rum Me unroot.bat
If You have Root + CWM - then first find out original stock kernel (zImage file)
Now place this file in zImage folder, n repeat procedure(Initial CFRoot Flasher), which you have done at time of pushing CWM by selecting I am rooted already
Now unroot with above said unrooting tool.

i have afew questions about that ,
where and how can i find the specific zimage for my device ? i understood that its in a compressed file extracted with 7-zip , but how can i get that compressed file ?
also , what if i had another type of ROM installed (NON stock) , how can i flash the original stock rom back (since i will not be be rooted, wont be able to restore NAND backups)??!
in HTC devices (i had Desire HD) , reverting to stock rom is simplified by flashing the "RUU" files , which were found in a dedicated thread.
This whole samsung diferences is really confusing me
thanks alot for any help.
cheers.

This is my ass-umption as I am still waiting for other responses as well.
In order to revert to stock you have to download the Initial Flasher.zip from Chainfire.
Then download your Kernel from the first page. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1331784 The zImage is taken from extracting your Kernel, whether it be KK1, KJ4, KKA, etc...
You place that zImage in the files folder and click "already-rooted.bat" *if you are coming from another ROM.*
Once that is done, you run the unrooting tool from Doomlord.
This method may work if you are able to access your device. As in your Android OS is up and running. What about a bootloop on a ROM/Kernel without a custom recovery built in confused. How would you go on from here?
On a part-bricked or bootlooping or otherwise fukkered HTC I would fire up my (bien sure as first thing) flashed ENG HBOOT, put it in FASTBOOT mode and simply a) fastboot boot c:\path\to\file\recovery.img or b) fastboot flash recovery c:\path\to\file\recovery.img and done. No brick from here, bc I a) always can restore a nandroid from here or b) always have a ROM ready on the SD or I could put it there using the mount usb option in the recovery, or heck, even by ADB PUSH. But on a Samsung...

No, you'll still need to use a computer-based Odin/Heimdall to flash bootloaders.
(That's what the IBL/PBL items are that are greyed out in the application.)

well i have tried this it's flashing to jf6 using cezar flash like a breeze but problem flashing to jf6 the market cant find the mobile odin. and even you dl it on sd card it wont let you install on jf6 stock so i have tried installing the stock leak of kk4 while i was on a i9000 base rom now if you purchase this on market it allows you to automaticaly download the kernel needed to flash now problem here is if your build prop is not tweak to samsung-sgh-i897 build prop it will download the i9000 base kernel which will mess up your flashing and end up on a bootloop going to stock kk4 so still kinda fresh its a go and miss some times it work sometimes end a bootloop this also it does not flash the bootloader from the stock rom so i suggest before you go to stock gb rom flash a captivate base gb loader but got to admit chainfire is really a beast to make an odin on a phone so purchase the app to support him

Do you have a direct link or mirror for v1.20? Tried the version on the market and still getting not compatible.
link in the first post, links to his thread, and it has links to the app. also I think it checks compatibility by reading the build.prop, what's wrong are you running and have you messed with your build.prop
Running MIUI. No, not edited build.prop.
well miui is probably the answer, might want to let the Dev know so he can fix that, if possible.
Ok, will do. Thanks
Not compatible with teamhacksung ICS build 6 either.

team hacksung's ICS port uses the CM7 partitioning table, and Mobile odin doesnt support re-partitioning. so ya. of course it dont and wont ever work.

I need help!

I'm in no way new to Android been around since the g1 era. I basically need help with installing a rom on my T-Mobile gtab. I've had my tab for over a year and I finally decided to root it last week. The problem I'm having is trying to load a custom rom onto it. Is there another way other than Odin that can be used or can I just download the roms and go straight to cwm and flash?

I have tried to do this several times in my own and my desktop will not let me extract the files that I need to do this on my own... just wanted to know if there was another way to put a from on my tab! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes you can install ROM from CWM, depends on which ROM you try to flash. Just find all the ROM at the Development section and choose the files with .zip. They usually are flashable from CWM.
for example, this rom is for GSM and are flashable through CWM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497872
or if you are ready from ICSm you can also try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385153
Those provide .tar usually flashable with ODIN.
If you decide flashing using ODIN, you have to make sure that you connect you G-tab to Samsung Kies first before trying to use ODIN. (To make sure you have the correct Samsung Driver installed to your usb port connection).
I hope that helps. Please make a note, if you are upgrading from FROYO to Gingerbread, you probably need to flash new PIT file, and probably datadb.rfs as well. These files, I'll recommend to flash them using ODIN.
Good luck, and be careful not to soft-brick your G-Tab.
Since you have T-mobile tab like me,
I think your best bet will be going to Overcome ROM thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1317384
Re-stock to Stock Safe 5 and then flash their kernel (all via Odin).
And from there you can CWM flash almost any ROM
Overcome website has broken images.
You can check this
