Hi Guys!
mobile AP doesn't work on JP6, tethering working very good, but hotspot no. may be it's about CSC? Mine is XEE, I live in Indonesia, but before I used JM8; JM9; with CSC LB4 and was working. Does it depend on CSC?
is someone who has the same problem?
is someone who using XXJPM with mobile AP? does it work?
Thanks!
Hi,
I've the same problem. I've tested JPM and JP6 with WPA2 and open, also on different PCs. I'm using the German CSC (JM1). Until JM9 the hotspot worked fine.
What can be the reason?
With regards,
Micha
I think this problem of modem
Today, I've tested the current (final?) 2.2 release JPO. The Hotspot does not work as in JP6 and JPM.
I've the product code DBT, from Germany. I used the ROM by Richthofen.
I also tested JPO with a MODEM version from Eclair, JM4. Without success. So it seems to be problem with the PDA code.
In JM8 and JM9 the Hotspot worked fine, as I tested it again today.
At the PC side, I can see the AP but cannot connect to it. After some timeout Windows says, it's out of range.
USB Tethering is working well.
I wonder that only some people have problems with the hotspot feature in Froyo or are only some of us using it?
Does anybody has an idea?
Thanks,
Micha
Hi All
I have the same problem. It used to work on the 2.1 jp1. And It now doesn't work on 2.2 jpo. So anyone solved it yet ?
same for me... wifi tethering worked fine on eclair (2.1) but on none of the froyo (2.2) versions... maybe its a problem of german galaxy s? because i have also the DBT code!
same here. I'm from Indonesia and I just found out yesterday that mobile AP wasn't working properly after updating to froyo. Tried with different computers.
It used to work fine under eclair.
bad Samsung, bad. And to think that this was supposed to be one of the main selling points of froyo.
any pointers to fix this?
I think I've got it!
If your computer is able to connect to your SGS Mobile AP, but has no internet access, you are probably using a proxy server.
The proxy should be configured both in the phone APN, and in the computer internet settings. Make sure the same proxy from your phone is input into you computer, under Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings.
Also, it seems that all Froyo roms affect DNS' ability to translate proxy hostnames into IP addresses.
In plain English, the proxy on your computer should be input as 74.125.79.104 rather than www.google.com (dummy example).
You can find the IP address of any hostname using http://www.selfseo.com/find_ip_address_of_a_website.php
Hope this helps.

Hello,
i'm running my i9000 with JPC firmware (installed through KIES, not rooted) - very successfully I must add .. no crashes, and generally fast performance.
Today I tired using the Mobile AP functionality - I can connect my laptop to the mobile AP, I can ping the IP of the mobile AP, DNS resolution works, but pings do not come back / browsing does not work. When I ping something from CMD it gets as far as resolving the IP (hence DNS works) but nothing else.
Browsing on the mobile phone is fine, and connected through KIES over the USB cable, USB tethering works fine too (and very fast - on a par with ADSL)
Anyone can help?
cheers!

Try going into USB Debugging mode. And then try it.
Alternatively, Try EasyTether from the market, works flawlessly for me. You may have to download additional drivers for your computer for it to work.
USB tethering works fine (using it right now) .. the problem is with wifi (mobile ap) mode .. the AP mode works fine, I can connect the laptop to it, and even ping the IP the phone assigns itself. Even DNS is working, but there's no access to anything outside of the mobile phone.

I have worse situation, my laptop can detect both Wi Fi and USB tethering but can't connect internet. Since I don't have any answer yet. I re flash to my orginal stock JF4. Please let me know any solution for this, so I can move back to JPC as I found this firmware is faster and better than JF4
Have you solved this issue? Please let me know how to fix it.

Im having some issues with my new galaxy tab.
Whenever I try to use wifi/internet I get alot of network errors/timeouts/dropped packets, no matter what app I use.
whenever that happens I have to press refresh/retry a few times and suddenly it works, after a few minutes it starts giving errors again.
this is not the already known DHCP error, i can connect to the network fine and receive an IP without problems. the problem is the connection itself.
i have already tried to change my routers encryption from wpa tkip to wpa aes, which seems to reduce the number or errors I get but did not fix the issue completely. when I tried to use my htc ad-hoc hotspot with the tab it seemed to work better, could have been coincidence tho
some info:
- its a branded tab from tmobile austria
- the firmware is t-mobile branded PDA: P1000BOJJ3 Phone: p1000xxid CSC: p1000maxjj4
kernel: 2.6.32.9 root at SE-S611 1 build froyo.bojj3
- router is in my room, so the range is fine
so what can I do to fix this? anyone else having this problem? also, why does it say "root" in kernel I dont think I have root access?
ps: your spam check is running amok, cant even use at sign in my posts??
I get similar things sometimes, not sure about the solution. What are the errors you get onscreen?
The root bit means that Samsung build the kernel on a machine that was logged in as root, i.e.: they're stoopid
You get used to the spam filter
It's possible if your in a highly populated area that there is too much contention for air space. There is a great free app in the market called 'wifi analyser'. Use this to test if another wifi is overpowering yours. Also, use the time graph tick away in the background to check for dropouts.
The fix may be as simple as changing the channels of your access point.

Try enabling XPress™ Technology on your wireless router (if option to enable it exists and your routers supports it) analyze your network to see if there is interference from other networks. Finally adjust your router to 802.11 G/N setting I don't think you need a/b.
Hope it helps
Hello
I'm unable to use a VPN connection with my SGT.
When i connected to my VPN with PPTP there is no data going through.
When i try L2TP, the connection never goes up.
Everything is working fine with other devices (PC, Mac, iphone)
It seams there is an issue with the vpn client.
Are you aware of these issue and or workaround?
thanks for you help
Nobody knows what is the issue ? I ve read that there is a problem with the vpn client
I have had a Verizon GT and now have an AT&T GT. I could never get the VPN client working with the Verizon unit and it worked the first time with the AT&T unit. The firmware is different (and I believe, later) on the AT&T model. I believe there is a problem that appeared in early firmware and was fixed at some point. I haven't seen a fix, but I was able to find third party software that worked with the routers that I need to connect to. Sorry I can't help more.
I have a vzw tab that was connecting with no problems over vpn until the last vzw patch. now it doesn't work...tun.ko loads fine and the vpn says connected but ifconfig never shows any tunnel interfaces and it doesn't work.
I may have to revert to a pre-update and finally bite the bullet and install a custom rom. such a pain in the ass.

I am running a wifi only (GT-P1010) with stock FROYO.UEKC6 and the 2.6.32.9 kernel and I cannot connect to a PPTP VPN either. Is there even a rom that works with this thing that will fix it? I was hoping to stay mostly stock with this device but if VPN doesn't work I have to do something. That's the main reason I bought it.
Strange thing is that it works fine on my Vibrant and has for a long time. Though I can also connect to my Ad-hoc AP on my phone unlike a lot of other people I have seen posting.
Hello, PPTP VPN is working fine here with a euro gsm gtab. Stock rom + overcome kernel.

The wifi only models are different from the gsm and cdma models.
VPN issues are related with the firmware you are running, so I'd suggest you if u got a GSM tab, flash the rotor JMI which known for working with VPNs.

Are there any roms that work on the wifi only tab that has vpn running on it? It is stupid that Samsung has not fixed this on a tablet. I really need to find a solution.
Samsung Support refuses to respond about vpn problem
I think VPN problems are well known by Samsung. I have emailed Samsung support twice inquiring for my registered Galaxy Tab wifi version and they have not responded so I'm considering returning the tab and getting an ipad. Apple support is first rate. Samsung won't even respond!
The pb seems to be from the froyo.
It may be fixe with android 2.3

Hi,
I'd like to share my 3G access on Nokia E71 to my Galaxy Note.
On the E71, there is a software to share the network over ad-hoc wifi connection. (Joikuspot)
But as far as I know , wpa_supplicant on Galaxy Note does not support ad-hoc.
Is there a modified wpa_supplicant which supports ad-hoc for Galaxy Note ?
p.s: this method is working on my previous phone Dell Streak
Thanks.
hi,
I've found one wpa_supplicant on another forum. but that doesn't work. (wifi can't go enabled)
is there no wpa_supplicant suitable for Galaxy Note ?
any interest in this ?
Have u try barnacle wifi tether?
I exactly dont remember but it was barnacle or wireless tether that i hav used on sgs, that i think support ad hoc
I'd like to use default system settings, not a 3rd party app.
So a wpa_supplicant would be lovely.
where can we find one ?
maybe something for SGS II would do...
ok; I got it from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115610
works fine...
attaching here if anyone needs.
just have to manually configure DNS (or put a /etc/resolv.conf with nameservers)
but I already did that to support VPN connections.
I tried this method and copied the file you gave but did not work. The wifi is still working fine but not ad hoc. Do u have any idea why?
disregard that, it worked perfectly. Thanks

hey.. with your file i was able to detect my wifi hotspot (connectify) that i made on my laptop (win 7). but its is not connecting. it just shows searching for ip address. i dont know the configuration for ip settings (in wifi settings/advanced in phone). i dont think i have static ip either for my internet. im trying to share a wireless data card connection (mts mblaze). what should i do? what settings should i put in ip settings in the Note (ip address, dns1,dns2 etc..)
I found the application Wifi Ad Hoc enabler on the market and it worked grate for me, now i can see any ad hoc and connect normally
I'd like to know about this as well.
it seems I can see my adhoc connections but I CAN'T Connect to them. Any help would be nice.
w w w .hackillusion.com/ how-to-enable-ad-hoc-wireless-networks-on-samsung-galaxy-note/
it worked for me well
Can anibody founded a solution for adhoc wifi connection?
is the above links solution not working for u?

No, above solution is for GB ROM only, on newer ROMs (ICS&JB) it's not working. I know in Windows 7 there is a solution with virtual (or soft) AP, but in Windows XP it's not a solution, because XP has no support for softAP, only ad-hoc networks (so programs like Connectify or mhotspot, VirtualRouter, etc. NOT works.) At my office i have only Windows XP & ad-hoc network, and this is why i need working ad-hoc mode on my Note.
So, up to now, i tried at least 10 modded wpa_supplicant file on my Note, and none of them worked. Some of them had blocked WIFI on Note, others had worked, but don't seen the ad-hoc networks (like the original wpa_supplicant), so i think maybe the problem it's not only wpa_supplicant related. I found an ICS ROM (ICS_Stunner) which claims that has support for ad-hoc connections, but i didn't tried out, because its outdated (i only extracted the wpa_supplicant file from ROM and tried on my current JB rom, but didn't works).
So i think we need a good developer who can resolve this...
now there is a cream & cookies JB rom from the sam developer of ICS Stunner. If stunner had it.. it should be in this rom as well. worth a try i would say.

Update: Ad-hoc wifi doesn't work...
Hi guys, I hope someone can help me out. the wifi and portable hotspot are not working. The wifi has not been detecting open or locked wifi networks. When I try to create a portable hotspot, the phone displays the word, Error. I have Tmobile and use T-zones for my internet. Currently I am still using the internet but it is being used via USB. I still have and use internet so its not that Tmobile cancelled my internet but its more like something is wrong with the actual phone parts or the software. I have tired flashing other roms but no luck. I am currently using Android 2.3.4 on cyanogenmod 7.1.0-RC1-IncS and also has S-off. The phone is unlocked and rooted. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Try upgrading to cm 7.2.0
APN settings
No idea if this will work for you but it did for me. I am on t-mobile(UK). Wifi and tethering were both working fine for me until I rooted my phone and installed a custom rom. After going through loads of different options, I noticed that the APN had somehow changed when I rooted. (Settings>Wireless&networks>Mobile networks>Access Point Names)
For me the correct APN (general.t-mobile.co.uk) became general.t-mobile.uk after I rooted for no known reason. Adding the 'co' resolved the issue and everything started working again.
I would suggest searching the internet for your network's APN settings and having a look at the settings on your IS.
Good luck.
I tried both and none worked. Thanks for the suggestions. Any other ideas anyone?
Any one know if there is a new wifi software update? That or a hotspots update but I think they might be the same.
