Can we use FW for the I897 in Samsung I9000?
Sorry but I really want a froyo better that the JPC, because the JPC with the lagfix is to sloooooow sometimes (ramdon).
How do u know it is better build than JPC
Sent from my JM7 with voodoo fix
I just want to try it something better that JPC.
I897UCJH7 is older than JPC so chances is small it have any more to offer...

asked Samfirmware if we would get another build soon this is the answer i got
"SamFirmware: @anilkuj i think this is a PIT problem all new 2.2 roms have those problems..."
http://www.twitter.com/SamFirmware/status/22737858065
i asked them that I9000 froyo dint have similar issues and this was their answer
"SamFirmware: @anilkuj XXJPC have this problem to. thats why we also skip this from our site."
http://www.twitter.com/SamFirmware/status/22738228408
so now my question is , is there anyway anyone can fix this ? or do we just have to wait for another build, then how did the JPC froyo work in ODIN finally ?
I think it's probably best to wait, unless you like to live dangerously
I flashed back to 2.1 from JPC today because it was becoming unstable, but fun while it lasted!
This release is for I987 (Captivate Tablet), not for I897.
It is not supposed to work one any other platform.

[Q] Flashing to JM7 from JF6

Hi all im trying to flash my captivate to JM7. At the moment im using the method i got from this thread (JM7 realease on i9000 page 4) I flashed without the pit file.
I actually have several questions 1. When i start my phone its starts up like it crashed with different colors then to att boot screen, is that normal.
2. Im trying to install SRE rom to it but when i try to launch it from recovery gives me a error status 7.
3. And ultimately am i doing something wrong for my phone, or is there a better guide with files im missing. Thank you.

Right under your nose...and you shouldn't flash sre(a captivate rom made for captivate firmwares) to the I9000 firmware
Edit: Just post if you got more questions about the progress. And im pretty sure that you can just substitute the jm5 for the jm7

Froyo has a lot of changes, including JIT, official Flash support, stereo FM Radio bug is fixed, Apps can do more stuff, etc.
Some things Samsung had already backported to eclair though. However, in summary, there isn't really any reason to use Eclair anymore..

XXJVK

So...how bad would flashing xxjvk be on my captivate? It changes bootloaders, correct? Definately a brick? Cm7 kernel wont work, correct?

is that the new gingerbread? dont do that yet, but if you do read old threads about i9000 roms on the captivate, threads from before we had reorient kernels. the button mapping and headphone logic and orientation is all messed up. getting back to download mode is tricky. if you can take the bootloaders out of the .tar file it might help but it also might not boot at all without the proper bootloaders.
if you have to ask you are defiantly not the person to be trying something new like that...

Actually I've flashed everything from I9000 ROMS, to MIUI to CM7, multiple times. It was a simple question of whether or not any new breakthroughs were found pertaining to the I9000 gingerbread. I searched, couldn't find any, wanted to be sure.
yeah but did you flash them when no reorient kernels were available? there is alot of information that has been lost to the newer comunity members because it is rarely relevant anymore.

Yes, but 1897 & 1900 cannot use the same software without the kernel being reoriented. As said above, look though the development forum
Sent from my ICS i897 Captivate
I am aware of that. But i also know there is a thread in development for the speedmod kernel, for the captivate (k13e i think).
