I'm trying to install the Volume+ v1.5 from Meltus and I'm getting a parse error when installing the apk from the SD card. I've tried super manager and ES file explorer and I've downloaded the file from the thread here and from Meltus's web page. No dice however I try.
I have stock GRI40 rooted with super user and rom manager and the allow unknown sources box is checked in my app settings.
I would post there, but I don't have enough posts to post in a development forum
GMail it to yourself
I told a friend I would email the apk to him so he could try on his N1. Between the time I told him about it and actually emailing him the apk, he downloaded it from Meltus's website and tried to install it. He got the same parse error
BUT, when he opened the email it had a button to install the app right there in the phone's gmail app, AND IT WORKED. I just emailed the apk to myself and istalled it that way .
So, if you're having parse error problems, try emailing it to yourself.
Hi guys, Im trying to get the Google News and Weather app (GenieWidget.APK) from Nexus S, or other newer version, running. I have an older version that does not auto update, so it kinda sucks.
The new version is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13473045
Ive tried dropping both the APK and/or ODEX file via file manager, also rebooting, but the files are not there afterwards. Im rooted and using FileExpert app, which is granted superuser Im told via toast message.
Also tried direct install of the APK, but again no go --> 'Application not installed' error.
Im running the Mosiac III ROM.
Searches have not helped so Id appreciate some help!
You might wan't to try Root Explorer from the market. Its what I used to install the genie widget. It is pretty easy to use. All you have to do is copy it into your system/app folder and there you have it.

but do i need to delete the old one? Is necessary to change the permissions of the new apk? If yes how?
If the installation is failing you are going to need to adb push the application to your system/app/ folder and then it should work... I am also looking for the new geniewidget.apk (sorry for bumping an old thread).
I have a rooted samsung fascinate, with stock rom/kernal..
Anywho I was playin around with installing some apps and I wanted to install the free version of Printershare, but instead of getting it from the market I used an APK file to install it from my sd card. Well the file appears to have been corrupted, so I attempted to uninstall it through root explorer, as well as remove all traces of the program. When I went to reinstall the program from the APP market, I now get the error "Installation Failed.. Update Incompatible." I searched around to figure out what that meant and in the process I noticed that the com.dynamixsoftware.printershare package was still listed in my manage apps section, but I am not able to uninstall it from there. I searched for it in root explorer but like I said I deleted all traces of printershare before so i didnt find it there. If anybody can help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated!! THX!
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section I'm new to XDA
Try downloading Titanium Backup from the market. There is a free version and it should take care of your problem. If not, some others have recommended a program simply called Installer for Root.
Guys, by mistake I deleted/uninstalled "Bluetooth Share" on my Note using Titanium backup. I found the "BluetoothOpp.apk" but I'm not able to install it. As of now, Bluetooth doesn't show up when I try to share a file.
I get the message "Application not installed" while trying to install the APK. Could anyone please help me out here?
I'm using a Stock 2.3.6 rooted ROM.
Dear yawnlike,
Copy file directly to /system/app/ with a file explorer with root ability like root explorer and then reboot...
Kind regards.

I used the automatic method to install root on my Fire HD 7. The issue is that SuperUser has not shown up even after multiple reboots. I've read that I could use ADB to install it manually but I have no idea what commands are needed to push an .APK. I've also ready that ES File Explorer could be used to install .APK's but whenever I click root settings it force closes then says unable to mount upon reopening.
I'm running 7.2.1 if that helps. Can anyone help?
Thanks!
NVM I've figured it out guys! Thanks!
