I am trying to install the new Google Voice Search app, but I keep getting "install unsuccessful" on Bifs 1.5 Froyo ROM. I'd like to download the apk from the market, pull it to my computer then try installing from ADB, thats worked in the past.
So does anyone know the temp location that the apk downloads to?
There seems to be some issue with signatures on the APK. A workaround is here.
Dispite my best attempts, I cannot get the netflix app to install on my stock rooted nookcolor. It jus says; Parse Error "There is a problem parsing the package."
I have tried:
Downloading every version of the netflix apk I can find....same error
Emailing the apk to myself....same error
Putting the apk in the root directory....same error
I've wiped devlik and cache....same error
I've tried to install through Android Commander.....same error
I'm out of ideas....any thoughts would be great!
I'm having the same problem and can't find anything on this issue! Frustrated.
Are you using the version found in the market? I've never had a parsing error with a market app. The one in the market is the one you need, not the leaked version that's been floating around.

The crux of my problem is that I've never been able to get my NC to see the Netflix app in the Market. I've done the build.prop edits using both the samsung and HTC versions and it refuses to show up. My only other option in this case is to sideload the app, which limits me to the versions available in the XDA posts. I just recently got Netflix going with no problem on my Optimus V using the version from XDA that doesn't require the build.prop edit and had no trouble sideloading and installing- the same APK on the Nook fails every time. Boo.
I have a rooted samsung fascinate, with stock rom/kernal..
Anywho I was playin around with installing some apps and I wanted to install the free version of Printershare, but instead of getting it from the market I used an APK file to install it from my sd card. Well the file appears to have been corrupted, so I attempted to uninstall it through root explorer, as well as remove all traces of the program. When I went to reinstall the program from the APP market, I now get the error "Installation Failed.. Update Incompatible." I searched around to figure out what that meant and in the process I noticed that the com.dynamixsoftware.printershare package was still listed in my manage apps section, but I am not able to uninstall it from there. I searched for it in root explorer but like I said I deleted all traces of printershare before so i didnt find it there. If anybody can help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated!! THX!
PS. Sorry if this is in the wrong section I'm new to XDA
Try downloading Titanium Backup from the market. There is a free version and it should take care of your problem. If not, some others have recommended a program simply called Installer for Root.
Hi,
I'm still running GMail 2.3.2 since I can't update it. Market says it is incompatible with my device (SGS+CM7#71) and when I try to install manually from g235.apk file it refuses to work. Why?
SOLVED: un-install old GMail app, reboot, install new one (black-themed to that!).
PLEASE DELETE THIS THREAD.
I just rooted again after boot looping. 1.3 and using Manual Nooter per instructions in that thread, fixed permissions in RM, USB debugging is checked. I'm up and running just fine, however I can't install Amazon App Store. I click on the .apk in the downloads of my browser and I get two choices to use, " App Installer", and "Package Installer". I try App Installer and I get "The application was not able to install onto your device. Please "Archive" and then "UnArchive" the application to try again. How do I "Archive" and then UrArchive" the application?
I try Package Installer and I get "There is a problem parsing the package".
I've reset and rooted numerous times because of boot loops issue, which I'm pretty sure I've solved, but every previous time I was able to install Amazon App Store.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Well I am not an expert by any means but it sort of sounds like a bad file have you tried deleting it and re-DLing it? You can DL it right onto the nook via email for example, Amazon will email you the link. If it's any problem other than that then it's way out of my league. Hope that works!
I've downloaded the .apk numerous times with stock browser and Opera Mini, and tried downloading it from the email amazon sent me with the download link. Same issues with all attempts.
Have you tried opening it with a file browser like Astro? Also try downloading the apk to your PC and then copy it to your Nook via USB, the Download on your Nook could be getting screwed up.
Also if you have ADB setup you can try running the command "adb install [insert apk filename here]" to try to install the Amazon Store.

Did you check the "Unknown Sources" box in Settings -> Applications?
I don't mean to be condescending, but you didn't mention it in the OP.
yes, unknown sources is checked. I figured out how to fix problem. I moved .apk's to system/app using Root Explorer and using Package Installer, they installed just fine.

I paid for it. There may some other file managers that you can use, but I just dropped the dough for Root Explorer.

For what it does it is cheap for $4. We need to pay for apps or else developers will quit building them.

Unless I am mistaken this does nearly everything Root Explorer does. At least I think I've heard that before. Having paid for and more importantly become familiar with Root Explorer, I have't actually tried it. But I do know it comes HIGHLY recommended.

Please Help - This doesn't solve my problem
Just rooted 1.3 again with both manual nooters. Everything is working fine now but I want to download Amazon App Store from The web.
It downloads fine but wont install - gives me a "your phone is protected" warning box saying that I should go to Settngs/Application and check the box to allow for outside downloads.
I DON'T HAVE AN APPLICATIONS OPTION UNDER SETTINGS. I had one when I was running cm7 - but not for a simple 1.3 manual nooter.
I have looked everywhere I can think of - can anyone help or have a work-around?
