Hey there . I'm a new android user(sgs) and recently i upgraded my phone to froyo JPM using instructions from a thread on here , everything worked fine except I'm starting to notice some lag issues and my free memory is always between 180-200 , and i noticed the JPM doesn't have Arabic language support .
Anyways i was hoping for some instructions on how to get Jp6 build on my phone using odin , and can i just install it over JPM ? some detailed instructions and download links would be very helpful .
Thanks in advance .

ahh you people are very helpful .
post in general or q&a i guess
everything posted here should have the mention "PROVIDED AS IS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK"
that said
arabic => flash JPA not JPM
lag => use a lagfix, i'd suggest universal lag fix
free memory => can't help you there, theres a kernel with more memory available yes but..
if you're not able to actually find the topic with the "how to" for each of these, i suggest you return your phone and ask for a factory reset, and don't try stuff from here again, it will only bring you troubles/break your phone eventually

Alright thank you anyways .
WHERE did u get this topic name in the first place?
IF u just searched a little ur questions have answers here and there.
IF u posted in right section, u might get some people answering ur questions -> rewriting AGAIN the info what is floating over the forum. People are kind around here, when you ask in the right way.
And yet you post sarcastic posts about people being unhelpful, way to go m8.
People behaving like you, doing so just ASK to be flamed.
Don't help rude people.

Hi All,
First of all, i totally new here, so please forgive me if i post at the wrong place, and sorry for my poor english...
Again, i'm new and newbie.. really appreciate for any help given...
i just brought my SGS since month ago... went to samsung service center for twice for shortcut missing problem & GPS no signal (Thanks to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1043034 it helps alot)
Now... most headache, lag issue.. memory full....
So.. is there any solution for this? i know root and flash might help but how can i do this? i read some threads around, but i not sure which to choose... or should i wait for official android 2.3? Will 2.3 solve my lag/hang issue? I don't know what is root or flash exactly, what can it do? any disadvantages?
Oh! and what is JIT? I heard it can make apps run faster! worth a try?
I don't mind and hardcore/heavy solution(need advance skill) as long there is a tutorial for me xD
Really appreciate for any help and advises ^^ TQ very much..

Want you need to do it search for username ramad or chainfire on rooting your phone... they offer good guides on how to do it or go and sign up to this website.... www.darkyroms.com... good luck...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Ok! I found some ramad's post, will have a try... some question here.. can you help me out?...
Root means i can bypass OS permission and configure the system my self right? How about flash? erase the default firmware(original android os?) and install a new one? Will it cause some hardware failure or unable to use some features like wifi, bluetooth, gps? or maybe it will enhance it? !
After flash... some apps will unable to use right? because many apps support original os like 2.2, 2.3... if after i flash it... my os is not android 2.2, etc anymore right?
And just now i factory reset my phone.. now it unable to play Mp4 file.. it say i need to convert to supported format when transfer to phone... it is strange that i never have this error before, although i was transferring the same Mp4 file that i use to play in my phone before.
Flash your phone with Darky's 9.5 link was given by chrisdavesants
It's really easy to do too and plenty of guides are around.
Although it is a Froyo (2.2.1) rom it is far more stable than any Gingerbread rom's
Everything works just as it would on a stock rom.

Good luck on that but i tell you no difference....
Root means i can bypass OS permission and configure the system my self right? Yes!!
How about flash? erase the default firmware(original android os?) and install a new one? Right...
Will it cause some hardware failure or unable to use some features like wifi, bluetooth, gps?No or maybe it will enhance it? ! Some enhancements are feasible on custom roms...
After flash... some apps will unable to use right? Didnot experience any apps not working... everything worked...
because many apps support original os like 2.2, 2.3...custom roms are based on official 2.2 or/and 2.3 so they are the same features are just enhanced...
if after i flash it... my os is not android 2.2, etc anymore right? Depends on what you flash... will stay 2.2.1 for froyo or 2.3.3 with ginger
And just now i factory reset my phone.. now it unable to play Mp4 file.. it say i need to convert to supported format when transfer to phone... it is strange that i never have this error before, although i was transferring the same Mp4 file that i use to play in my phone before.

Odin is where you flash custom or official roms... leaked roms... as well.. CWM IS clockworkmd where you flash zip files afer using odin..
Requirements yes you should flash F/W only compatible with your phone model... read the instructions to the letter esp. Red ones...

Your title mentions JVQ but your post states JVH. Either way it should be a straightforward flash of JVR.

just find a JVR rom and read the instruction on how u should flash it.
Hey DrMilky,
I'm assuming your getting mixed up (I've just referring to your post on Darky forum where you asked how to find out if you are on 10.1 or 10.2)
I would SERIOUSLY SLOW DOWN ! as was suggested do much more reading & then READ READ READ some more !
Honestly dude, if you don't know which Rom your on OR how to find the info on your phone which will tell you then do some research as knowledge is power.
I'm not trying to give you a hard time but hoping to save you from Bricking your phone. I'm certainly no expert but I spent WEEKS reading (5/6) & watching vids - see youtube there are dozens of tutorials & as you've probably seen on Darky forum Totally Dubbed makes expert ones.
Of course its not all reading/theory & to put that knowledge into use at some point you will be ready to play around but less likely to get yourself into a BIG HOLE.
GOOD LUCK DUDE.
Also never forget about YouTube, there are many interesting tutorials there!
Hi,
I am new here and have just purchase Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I want to install ClockworkMod Recovery for flash ROMs. Please guide me with procedure. sorry for bad english. Thnanks.
Oh dear.
Don't post in the development sub-forum!
First piece of advice, read. read around, different posts, different messages, different google results, not only will you gain advice and information that can help you/save your ass in the future, you won't do rookie things like post in the dev forum.
And google anything you don't understand first. You're question is 99.9% of the time not original and already out there with several productive answers
But i'll cut you some slack.
Firstly, we need to know your current firmware. Go to Settings, and then about phone. look for your android version. and you're firmware. if you're unsure, take a picture of the about phone section and upload it here and we'll help you.
And could a dev shift this to the right place please

If youve got Gingerbread, then look for a custom kernel WHICH IS GINGERBREAD BASED NOT ICS OR JELLYBEAN BASED. Then using download a program called Odin. And put the Kernel in the PDA section of the program, if you dont know how to do this then there should be videos telling you how to do so on Youtube. Its the same flashing procedure for all the Galaxy S series of phones, if you type in "Galaxy s3 flash kernel" or something similar it should give you a general idea of how to do it. And remember to just read everthing they tell you to do for each kernel. Go through step by step and it should be easy. If something happens though cant be held responsible. gota be said, lol. A thanks would be appreciated if i helped

Give the guy a break we were all new once! First thing you should do is Google Odin software and learn how to use that. Second make sure any ROM you flash is made for sgs i9000. Lastly go to www.darkyrom.com and check out the section there on the i9000, the user totally dubbed has excellent video tutorials that can walk you through it all. (i repeat for anyone trying to be a smartass and say it against forum rules and stuff, I DID NOT MAKE THESE FILES, I FOUND THEM ON A FORUM, WHICH I AM UNABLE TO FIND RIGHT NOW)

Hi all I've not done this before but not noob to the unlocking scene just first time for Android.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S GT-i9000
Firmware Version 2.3.5
Baseband Version I9000BVJV3
Kernel Version 2.6.35.7-I9000BVJVC-CL679241 [email protected] #2
Build Number GINGERBREAD.BVJVC
What I'm looking to do is unlock it to allow me to use any network (currently orange).
after that I would then like to look at changing the rom or upgrading to the latest Rom's where able for SIII & S4. :victory:
I've spend a while reading other post so clearer than others but none that can help me as I'm having trouble finding the correct Kernel.
Please any and all help would be most appreciated.:cyclops:
plenty of unlock apps in the market

Update on advice
Hi thanks for posting advice.
I've managed to unlock the phone by using a combination of
Rooting it with Unlock Root via pc
That gave me Superuser (upgraded to pro for £2)
BusyBox Free, Titanium backup Free needed also
Then I was able to use Galaxy S Unlock to save files to sdcard and unlock to any network.:victory:
Now does this mean I'm rooted and don't have to follow all the steps that the link above advices
no need if already got busybox installed

Thanks for comments, can I ask now its rooted do I need to install anything else to allow me to change the Rom's such as newer official ones or once others are raving about.
Thanks.
updating or changing ROM was easy method but deadly also, wrong move will come to brick fone. if u really hav thought it well, juz follow any instruction on xda regarding i9000 after confirming ur device version, backed up baseband, build number n etc involve.
n now u ll need cwm for flashing. find cwm to gain access to recovery n thats where u gonna flash ur custom ROM, but read a lot before doing it as here in Q & A section, many success, also failure posted here, so be sure to read first mate

Congratulations on accomplishing your unlock. Now you might be helped with a good, rich toolbox and clear guides
I'm referring you to some wonderful threads I've come across during similar quests of my own.
(It's all there; but asking the right questions and not seeing the wood for the trees will always remain tricky )
So here are my top three suggestions for your toolbox, in order of importance and relevance. You might find some overlap among them.

As to what ROM to choose, I seriously like to push my own (eventual) ROM of choice, Mackay ROM (Unless gaming on the phone is your thing, which might bring up desires and demands that other ROMs serve even better.)
Good luck!
(And if this post was helpful, please hit THANKS. Thanks )
