I am trying to install the AOSP Calendar on Cognition 2.2 Beta 9.1, but I am having no luck at all. I have searched XDA and none of the thread's solutions are working me. I looked at the CogDev Rom Beta 3 and I cannot figure it out from there. I cannot find the calendar.apk. I did find the calendarprovider.apk, but that alone is not working. I cannot stand the Samsung Calendar and I really would like to get the AOSP version running.
Thanks in advance.
Bump......
I figured it out. I extracted the following files from DG's Cogdev Beta 3 rom, and installed them in cognition.
GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk
CalendarProvider.apk
CalendarGoogle.apk
Calendar.xml
The new calendar came right up and began syncing with exchange. Very nice. Much better than the Samsung calendar.

Do you get a force close when you try to:
Menu->More->Calendars
Yes, but that happened in AOSP Cog Dev Rom as well. I stopped looking for solutions. I have actually bought a new WinMo phone. Liking it so far. I may end up selling my captivate.

what is 'vanilla email'?
I am unable to install on Modded Hero. I really want to use this email over sense. I wonder if the install conflicts with existing email app? Maybe I have to remove the existing sense email first? I badly need unified inbox.

I have it installed alongside the stock Sense email ....((( yes I use them both, former blackberryuser...lots of email accts)))
I installed it and really like the interface, however, about every 15min it tells me I have a new email, which I don't and that's a dealbreaker for me.

Tried using it with VanillaDroid and jcase's nexus patch. It kept force closing when I first opened it up and whenever I looked at an email. Any solution?
I've been using Vanilla email for several days now. Its much quicker than htc's email app. Only issue is I can't open attachments with vanilla.

Hey, Thanks for this! I just upgraded from a Droid (with CM7) to a Droid 4 and absolutely hated the new default email app. This one actually works with exchange and I'm more familiar with it anyway.
On my CM7 Droid, there was a setting to change the color of each email account, is that option not available in this or am I just retarded and can't figure it out?
Hi,
I have DocFroyo 7.6.2 XXJPO Rom.
Today I flipped my GalaxyS from vertival to horinzontal on the main screen and a launcherpro message popped up. It will expire in 5 days. I thought I is an unlocked launcherpro version.
Then I wanted to look into the thread of the rom, if some one else has the problem. But I can't find the Doc Rambone Doc Froyo 7.6.2 XXJPO thread.
Please help.
If you paid for a copy, you get a serial number by email, which you enter in the settings..
Did you?
NO, I didn't pay for it.
I just installed doc-froyos rom.
I didn't get that message before. It apperead yesterday.
Considering that no illegal software/cracked/whatever is allowed on these forums, I'm pretty sure doc's rom doesn't come packaged with an unlocked version.
I thought there is a free version of launcher pro.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the market? (Yes there is a free version of lpp)
Sent from my SGH-T959
No I didn't but I will try it. Thx.
Maybe I install a new rom anyway.
And yes.. Launcherpro you should be able to use for free.. It's possible something is dodgy with the ROM. Or maybe some of the pro features (like the widgets are expiring). Ensure you are using the latest version.
Concerning the other part of my problem: Where is the DocRambone DocFroyo thread gone? Or where is the latest Rom from him?

It's now a kitchen

I solved my problem with Launcherpro.
I didn't use the pay version "pro-plus".
I use the fre standard version "pro".
But version 0.8.1.1 is outdated and won't be supported. (the popup didn't say i have to pay, it is just an old unsupported version)
I read that my update through the market place failed because I had a skinned version from DocRambone.
So I did start ADW Launcher, uninstalled Launcherpro and installed Launcherpro 0.8.2
Now it is ok again.
Hi,
I have some Problems withe the email.apk and the Exchange 2010SP1. OK the Topic is old... and the answear is to install the google 2.2 email.apk. I know.
But I would to test the email.apk from the JMI-Rom. Have somebody the email.apk dumped, so mthat I can try it out?
It will be great because I find only the ROM and don't kow how can I dump /decompress it without install it on my GT. I have to stand by the Samsung -official-ROM but can use a other email.apk.
Thanks a lot.
You know, 2.2 Email.apk - every version of the 2.2 has a different structure Email.apk, JMx,KAx,JJx the Email.apk of them are all slightly difference and are not fully compactible with others version. The Email.apk involve many google core program, Just replace it can not solve your problem. Also you know how to replace it if u don't know how to extract the apk frm the ROM? If u really want the app, state the version u need and I send u the deodexed one.

let me explain:
I have three months ago the JK1-Rom on the Tab. It works fine but then our Exchange was upgradet to 2010SP1. Now I coudn't sync my emails. In different Blogs and Forums I learn, that I have to switch the email.apk to a other Version from the 2.2-Rom and it will work. It work and I tried the Android SDK
Before some weeks I updated to the JK5-Rom (Because I'm not so sure that I carsh my GT when using Odin1.7 and the Bootloader-Hack) So I want to stay by the JK5-Rom! ...
I never want to Update with custom Roms!!! I made this with my HTC comet; HD etc) Now Ii don't want make it more:-( I want only a toy that works... with the Exchange 2010SP1!...
It works also great and the new Email-Client was wonderfull in the JK5.
But now on Monday I have to set a new Password in the ActiveDirectory so I don't find in a few minutes the option on the GT's Email-Client so I delete my Email-Profile on the GT and want to Define and sync it. That was my Idea to reach the goal of get the new Profile with new Password in a shorter Time as search hours to set up the new Password.(It was on Monday morning I only want to work!!!)
But the trouble now started: After deleting the Email-Profile I can't setup the new one because of the email.apk-Bug.
But now the old email.apk ( I have store it;-) don't work because it is a other Version how I have learn now.
I have testet it with the Android-SDK-Version of 2.2 and 2.3.3 and 3 ;-) Only the 2.2 is shown but crashes when I want to start it.
So I think I have only this option:
Downgrade the GT to JK1 then fix the email.apk
Then sync my Exchangeprofile
Then upgrade with the synced Email-Profile to the JK5-Rom.
I hope this will be the solution...
I'm not an expert! And I never want to get it but unconfortable I have to get working the FU**** Email.apk to sync with the Exchange2010SP1!
Sorry for the mistakes in the text. I'm not so good in english;-)
All currently released firmwares seem to be JMI based, you could pull it from one of them.
So, guess what?
While on my bloatware frenzy, I 'jeniously' deleted my Calendar Storage Provider thinking that would leave me only with the 'new' Google Stock Calendar, recently updated.
I found several fixes for this exact same mistake but they were all from very old versions. ICS, Gingerbread, one, two years, even three years ago.
I'm on a rooted RAZR i. JB 4.1 . Does anyone have this package and send me links?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, mate. But still nothing :/
I moved both .apk and .odex into system/app and reboot, but Google Calendar still 'loads' into eternity when prompted to create an event or display synced calendars.
I'll dig some more when I have the time. Any thoughts?
Thanks anyway for replying so quickly and offering your help.
Did you check the permissions?

Hey y'all
I found a link this morning for the new Android 5.0 leaked Google apps: http://http://phandroid.com/2014/10/20/check-out-the-new-messenger-google-play-music-and-more-leaked-android-5-0-lollipop/
I've simply installed the Messaging apk and it is working really well on my Rooted AT&T Note 3.
I attempted to install the new Gmail app, but I could not get it to work. I was getting FCs and had to jump back to the current Gmail.
Has anyone been able to get the Gmail apk to work?
UPDATE,
I've posted this in the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Q&A forum", and there are a handful of people that have the New Gmail apk running just fine on their devices (other carriers/ non-stock ROMs).
I'm thinking that maybe it has something to do with Stock Rooted Touchwiz...

I may be wrong on this but normally you would need to install the new market apk's in system first so that the market framework is correct.
make sure you backup first!
