Guys, do you have any idea how to root Froyo DXJP8? I tried it by applying update.zip drom RyanZA's One Click Lagfix app. However, I couldn't apply update.zip on the recovery mode since it told me " E: signature verification failed. Installation aborted".
Please, need your help.

Where do u get DXJP8?
If this DXJP8 is real, please upload to somewhere for sharing because it seem to be the updatest version.
Official Asia Froyo?
is DXJP8 the official Asia Froyo updates that we are going to get next week?
Ahh. Jp8 has installed 3e recovery mode bootloader. The way people bypass that for jpm is to flash a rooted kernel via odin which also restores 2e recovery. You need to hunt down a jp8 root kernel.

You have to flash a stock captivate kernel, use the key combo, run the update package, then flash back to the JPH kernel again

won't that not work since it's a 2.2 build and we have no available kernels?
did Zilch finally make a mistake? AND I CAUGHT IT!?!?
okay i will try it
I was always under the assumption that with a 2.2 ROM, a 2.1 kernel won't boot (even to recovery, though I assume since it can get to download it can get to recovery now that I think about it) as long as you flash the JPH kernel back immediately after before you boot?
maybe I didn't catch Zilch making a mistake =(

Nope, I'm right =P
You have to use it to get the recovery so that you can use our key combos (and power as select), install the package, then flash back. The phone won't BOOT without the JPH kernel but it will get to recovery =P

the JPH kernel will be inside the flashable package. look for a file named zimage.tar
was meant to imply the kernel was in there, didn't think he wouldn't know what to do with it... zZzzzZzzzzZZZZzz

No no no, if he does that the zImage file won't be flashable, unless he's on a linux box and can repackage it.
Go to the I9000 forums and find one of the threads about rooting JPH, they have a handy zip that contains the JPH kernel and the update.zip for rooting

when i made my selection of updating the zip then i press power button nothing happens leaves me stuck.
i did the captivate kernel then then i did the recovery to root and applied it. then i flash back the i9000 jhp kernel it wont make my selection to reboot and go in to the os.

I curious as to why people lately have been trying the i9000 jph? Yes, I would want 2.2 also but that thing is not made for these phones and with all the people lately having trouble, why bother? Just flash back to stock, use adb if buttons don't work, and load Eugene's captivate hybrid. It's fast, doesn't have the att/samsung bloat, and it works without bricking our phones.

I did this myself and after the update went ahead and wiped the phone (factory reset) anyway. I wanted to make sure I didn't have anything lingering..

That's where I got mine.. www.samfirmware.com
you will have to sign up for an account but its worth it.
You will have to flash using ODIN. Make sure you get the PIT file located at the bottom of the firmware page too..
Plus once you have the account, you can always flash newer firmwares when they come out...
I know about the leaked JH7. I am running it now. I am only interested in the official JH7 update file, just to compare the two versions.

I am not sure what happened but I just downloaded the update using the check for updates on the phone, it started to install, rebooted the phone then gave me this message:

No update was applied to your phone"
my phone is rooted, lag fix, side load and I did not try to undo any of that stuff.

The same thing happened to me, but when I go my phone settings I show the following:
Baseband version:

So do we have to flash back to stock to get this upgrade?
I wasn't too hopeful that our rooted, lagfix-ed phones would play nice with the OTA anyway.

I literary spent 3 hours googling and trying to solve it but no luck ...
Anyways, everytime I try to "update" my phone to install CM, I would get this error:

"E:signature verification failed"
I tried everything, renaming the .zip, using different version of CM, ect.
Note : I tried using ROM manager also, it doesn't help at all :/
Thanks and appreciate the help .

Alright guys i have searched and tried and tried. Currently i am on dj11 with kernal version stated as 2.6.32.9 and right below it has [email protected]#3. I am on 2.2
So what ive tried:
-I used heimdall to flash back to stock but as you can see the kernal version says im still rooted although superuser app is not installed. This causes the update to fail
-I tried to use superoneclick method to unroot but it does not work
What i want is to be stock with no root and be able to update. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
FYI i also used all the thread procedures on the forum (gizmo ninja and how to unbrick tab)

Don't know what the problem could be. That has always worked for me. If you go to the "System-- About Device-- System Updates" does it give you the option to update? When I have restocked mine and set up a wireless connection it always tries to download and install the update.

I don't know what to do. If it were me I would go ahead and grab the EC02 update from here: http://www.blackmugmedia.com/Android/GT/Mirror/Roms/CDMA/Recovery to Stock /
Flash that. You will have the latest official release, or you could get the VZW Leaked Gingerbread release from the Developers section. (That is what I am running on my VZW tab).
Maybe if you flashed the EC02 update and then used the going back to stock instructions it would unroot you. I have always unrooted using that rom and directions when I wanted to start fresh from a custom rom that didn't quite work like I wanted it to work.

There is a unrooted version of Gingerbread that you can flash with Odin:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...w-sprint-2-3-4-ef01-rooted-updated8-15-a.html
I haven't used Odin, but if you are familiar with it you might have luck with this. I think you use 7zip to extract and then use the resulting md5 file in the One Package location. You might want to look there and get that file.

Unzip the .md5 file with 7zip, you will get an error about no proper ending or something. Take your zimage, cache, param, dbdata, factoryfs, recovery.bin and place them in the proper locations in Heimdall. Flash your tab and let it boot up.
You should have a fully functional gingerbread without root.
I just did it on my tab.

If you're already on 4.2.2 I HIGHLY doubt you need it. IF it's a firmware update, then it might include things like a new screen touchpad update (which I don't recommend installing because it could possibly break your custom recovery) and a new radio file and irl. The most important part of that is the radio update and I wouldn't even really call it "important". More like USEFUL then anything else. So what you can do and what I recommend you do is: don't worry about your failed update. Find the latest radio.zip (flashable through custom recovery) file and install it. Let me know if you need help!

In order to receive and install an OTA update you need to have stock recovery... you have a custom recovery (CWM) which is why the update fails.
You have 3 options..... search, find and flash the stock recovery for your device, flash a custom rom based on 2.24.401.8 or stay as you are.
For radios this link is a list of all the radios released for the One, each can be flashed through CWM recovery.
