I am Newbie and I Just Rooted my phone.
So what can I do Know?
I did the Wi-Fi Tethering and Worked.
I downloaded Metamorph but didn’t found any Themes.
I want to delete Sprint Apps, and don't know how to...
Want to change the lock screen, but without changing the ROM...
Anybody could come with a List of what people can do, know that the phone is rooted.
BTW I am Running Sprint 2.1

Click on the link and download Fresh Kitchen.
You can create a nandroid, remove the bloatware, change the current lockscreen, create your own rom.

Welcome to the world of root!
While what Dave provided is in no way bad or wouldn't help you accomplish what you want, I suggest looking up adb commands.
Check out the main wiki thread in my sig. It will have a thread called "How to Remove Stock Apps, etc."
Once you have looked a little there, post back and let us know if you can't find some information, and we'll gladly help you out.
I've got to agree with Riggs, while Kitchens are nice for people who know what they're doing, I'm a firm beleiver that people just starting out should use ADB as much as possible.
Hi,
today I have rooted my Galaxy S and I want to remove some of those default apps, is there a better list than this one:
http://samsunggalaxysforums.com/sho...ications-safe-to-uninstall-on-rooted-Galaxy-S
It seems too little because Ive had Xperia X10 till yesterday and dumped it because I got tired of waiting for Eclair etc and Xperia could remove much more apps than Galaxy S according to this list.
Tnx

Yes, there is a quite good topic about it here. Try to search (sorry, dont remember the name of thread - cant help you).
Or use Doc's ROM. Very good and removes crapware for you.
Tnx but I cannot find it. I really would like that someone writes the list here and make that post STICKY because we need those apps listed in a sticky thread coz everyone who roots his Galaxy will remove some of those preinstalled apps, and I mean EVERYONE. Admins, please consider this.
Tnx
I didn't.. In fact, I haven't even rooted my phone, because I realised that there was no real benefit for myself to do so..
Also, I think Launcherpro can now hide apps if you wish (reducing the need to root further)...
i'll try to post my list one of these days
i've removed aprox 20 apps from the Stock ROM using Titanium Backup after rooting
Hello, im little green about roms, and i have question..
yesterday i install on my dream CyanogenMod-6.1 and i love it,but there is no android market app?
why?
is there any chance to install it?
and why it isnt orginnally?
please help, cause i think it is important apps..
ps. i wrote here beacause i new and i cant write this post in topic about cyanogen
thanks for all answers!
A little while back Cyanogen had a scuff with Google and they said that they could not use Google Apps in their ROM. So in order to keep doing what they do, they make the ROM without the Google Apps. However, you need to download the Google Addon Pack (http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/files/file/124-google-addon-mdpi-tiny-20101020/). And you should be able to view the Cyanogen forums. I know if you download anything directly from them you need to be registered, but registration is free so you shouldn't have an issue.

Firstly how does not been able to install appbrain stop you from downloading anything from market?
Second, what do you mean you cant install it, Have you got the apk file? what happens when you run the installer?
Third, please use descriptive titles for topics, What you wrote does not describe this topic.
If you want help you need to give more detail, Nobody reads minds here.

Am assuming yours a GSM tab.
firmware tells you are running Froyo 2.2
Build number tells you what FRoyo ROM firmware you have I.e. JK2...this basically gives the date of the current build and the build version for your location/country...
Baseband tells you which modem you have in this JK2 modem
All the above basically means its on stock firmware not modded.
For not able to download from the market...do the following...go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Tap on ALL running applications, scroll down and tap on Market. In the Application Info page which opens up, tap on clear data and restart your phone...hopefully it should now work.
Appbrain no idea...btw appbrain is not the same as google market...

You need to enable non market apps to side load applications

answer to your first question... my gmail account does not detect my galaxy tab as a device or for some reason isn't getting synced.. although when i created my new gmail account it showed the round sign which you get when it is being synced with.. but whenever i go to the android market and log in... it doesn't detect my galaxy tab and says there are no device synced with my gmail account... and because of that i can't install any softwares ...
secondly ... no i don't have the apk file since when ever i try to download it... i get that error message..
thirdly.. i apologize for my messed up english and i wasn't trying to look cool with my post.. or anything.. i am not from usa or uk so my english is not upto the mark like you guys and i am so sorry for that.. please tell me my mistakes and i will try to overcome them from now on.. again i am so sorry for the trouble..
and my thread tittle was meant to be "hi i am new xda devs forum and i always wanted to be in it but i didn't have the proper gadget for it all this time but now i am able to afford one android after so long and i am facing a problem with my samsung galaxy tab as i know nothing about it.. so i want to know is it jailbreaked or did i get the real thing ... and secondly i cannot download anything from the android market ... is it because i don't know how to do it?? or is it because i can't sync my gmail account with it?? cause when ever i want to sign in it says my device is not synced with my gmail account.."
besides if i don't need appbrain.. could you tell me the procedure to download from the android market??
So you sign in with you gmail account but it doesn't sync anything? Go to accounts & sync and see what is syncing. Doesn't make sense that it says there isn't a device synced with your account.
Never heard of this problem before. Only similar issue i've heard like this is after syncing some paid apps don't show in to market, not that it doesn't work at all..
And regarding downloading from the market. Open it up, choose your app, download it.
And your Tab is molded because it says 'root' in your kernel info but it sounds like you're running a stock rom.

Sorry, appbrain just won't work if you don't have the market installed, as AppBrain still lets the market handle all app downloads.
Hi All,
I'm new to Android/Rooting. I used the SOC root method to root the phone, and now I have some questions I'm sure more knowledgeable folks can answer.
First and foremost, I know a recovery is in the works/testing phase and will soon allow alternate ROMS to be loaded. Until that time, I need to know what apps/processes I can safely remove from my phone without bricking it.
I know I can and have killed Bing and BingVoice. As well as stupid apps like Blockbuster, CityID etc....
What about things like VCast Apps? Verizon Media manager? Widgets?
There seems to be a lot of processes running in the background that I have no idea what they do.
I know each phone has different bloatware, is there a list for the Revolution?
Also what is the difference between uninstalling and freezing an App? Is there a free way to freeze an app?
Thanks for any advice
Yeah all the vzw apps can go

There is a thread about this already in the general section they have a list there

Thanks. I was unable to find such a thread before I posted here. Can you please point me to it?
Is it better to freeze an app or uninstall it? Are there free apps to freeze an app?

and ive found that root uninstaller has a freeze option but you can only freeze/unfreeze 3 times i froze mine till we have a viable recovery (which we do only not mass implimental)
