by any ways tv out can be performed on motorola milestone
Nope not that I'm aware, luv my Milestone but had to buy a Galaxy S to get decent TV out and graphics, real missed opportunity really, the later versions of the Droid do tv out but no the bulk standard Moto Droid Milestone, although I would be happy to be corrected if anyone is the wiser.

Hey guys quick quetion here, i got an offer to sell my milestone for 400$ or Trade it for a blackberry 9700 + blackberry 9000, should i sell it? and with the 400$ i can buy a Galaxy S or some other device? whats your input?
I would sell the Milestone and get the Milestone 2. Try using the Galaxy S for awhile (not just a store demo), and if you can stand its pentile matrix arrangement, then go for it. It's very fast and has an extremely accurate and responsive touchscreen. However, its display isn't for everyone. The real test is how your eyes handle reading small/medium sized text on it at length.
With the Milestone 2, you wouldn't have any of these issues, though I can't imagine that you could get one for anywhere near $400 when it is released.
One other phone to consider is the Desire (the S-LCD version).
whats the S-LCD?? i think ill try the bell Vibrant looks cool with the front facing camera
Older Desires used AMOLED, a terrible version.
Since you're in Canada, then the Telus version uses Sony's S-LCD, a display comparable to the iP4 (lower res, of course) and the Milestone.
I suggest that you buy the Bell Vibrant from Best Buy or Futureshop, so that you have the option to return it if you find small text unbearable, particularly since you're coming from a great LCD with very high DPI and sharp text.
Sell it and wait for the Motorola Milestone Pro

lol got the The Galaxy S, almost bricked it and by luck restored it back to normal, very happy with it though, no lag nicer screen, will miss they keyboard though : D but swype is reallyyy nice
Bit late but I wouldn't have bought a SGS. Samsung have shown such disregard for the users with such appalling support and buggy software. I'll never buy a Samsung product again.
What I want to ask about here is the possibility of a 'Milestone Pro'. Motorola have refused to confirm its existence and given that we didn't see a GSM version of the Droid X I'm wondering if we'll definitely see a GSM Droid Pro.
(I know it's CDMA/GSM but with Verizon controlling things it'll be relatively hard to get one only for unlocked GSM use and I _think_ that using GSM the phone will always think it is roaming)
This is my personal opinions, so keep that in mind. I think what they need to do to kickstart Honeycomb is have a DROID tablet. I know what you're thinking, "They already have that, it's the Xoom". I'm saying a DROID branded tablet. The DROID TAB? The DROID SLATE? It basically has to be a current day OG DROID on a tablet. Open bootloader, up to date specs, etc etc. There's currently a strong brand recognition with the DROID name, so a DROID branded tablet would be a major boost. You all know what the OG DROID did for Android on phones. Now we need that for tablets! Just think about it....
Hi everyone
I have been considering buying the Motorola droid 3 for some time now and wanted the actual users feedback weather to buy it or not?
I want a qwerty android phone with a dual core.
All your Inputs would be welcome.
Thank you
Anand
What do you want to know? I don't know about prices/availability over there but you might also get the droid 4 instead if possible.
As for droid 3, for me:
Pro's:
- best qwerty I've used
- qwerty + android
- dual core
- looks
Cons:
- screen is "good" but certainly not up there with the best
- locked bootloader
- Droid 4 release
Well i am using a galaxy sl at the moment
What I miss the most is the lack of a qwerty keypad. Dual core and the stock of roms etc really make it better.
The droid 4 is not available here : ( needless to say not even the droid 3....
Motorola here has not launched any of these models here
I want a really good qwerty handset keeping the most modern hardware possible Both the droid options would have to be imported..here
Well if you want QWERTY i say get the droid3/4.
You could import them from negri electronics, thats what I did.
Just depends whether you wanna pay the extra ~$100 for the droid 4
I love this phone. The only advice I have is to avoid buying a Verizon XT862 as it seems a lot of users out there are having issues unlocking them due to Verizon meddling with the unlock codes.
If you decide on the D3, go for an XT860 as it's basically identical but not a hassle to unlock.

I will keep the Xt 862 in mind when buying..
I wanted to know the problems with the device specifically and problem which is pointed out with the display?
What is wrong with the display?
I wanted to know how it compares to my Samsung galaxy sl which is still single core but the other stuff??
How is the xda support for this device like the custom roms etc etc?

Nothing is "wrong" with the display. It's just not an improvement over a galaxy S.
It's higher RES but shadows/dark are worse than galaxy S and when you look real close you can see a bit of grain because of pentile.
But unless you're a display-freak its OK. I'd rather have the droid 3 than galaxy S2 because of its QWERTY

I would not say there is a "problem" or "wrong with the display", probably there are better...

If Price is a factor add the following
--Pro's: VERY CHEAP or even free
What it boils down to to me is if you want a QWERTY slider Android phone, the Droid series is the only way to go. If you want the latest and greatest and/or have to have/want 4G and are willing to pay for it, get the Droid 4. If you are wanting cheap and don't care about or are willing to forgo 4g, then get the Droid 3.
I paid $50 for my droid 3 with contract renewal in Jan and my Wife's was free with her contract renewal in Feb (and came with the dock and car dock thrown in free too). The OP mentions "not available here" but where is "here"? The contract renewal probably doesn't apply I guess - but the Droid 3 will be getting dumped for cheap until supplies run out and its a great phone. Particularly if you are like me and upgrading from a Droid 1.
The only downside I have experienced was a lack of LTE. Battery life and performance are excellent.

Hey guys,
Having a Defy for 2 years now, gives me the opportunity to get a new phone. Not wanting a Iphone or sgs3, simply because they are TO mainstream (no hipster) and the sgs is ugly as fck. The razr i cought my eye. Not only because of its look but alsofl because of its hardware. Only I had a problem with my defy, I am affraid of to have with this device too. Motorola makes awefull roms and kernels. I saw how on stock rom the razr i got owned Buys the sgs3 simply because of the rom. The performance made by Samsung is mostly because of the rom. But the moto users are do damn lucky with the community. I remeber Quarx giving the defy an icredible boost. So I was wondering: is it worth it to buy a razr i or razr hd? And will we get eventualy good working roms that will peform as good as the sgs3? And which phone is better: the razr i or razr hd (i prefere Intel dat_fanboy)? Thanks in advance

I'm also interested in the responses this thread might get. I'm currently a Defy owner, and I'm also looking forwards the Razr i as my next phone (The battery duration and Intel's chip got to me, and here in Argentina, the phone is currently on presale). I'm wondering what led to the current owners to purchase the I instead of the m or hd, and if their expectations were fulfilled so far.
I don't have the choice of the M here but I chose to buy this device instead of waiting for the HD because I loved the georgous edge-to-edge screen and the design overall and because I'm a Motorola fanboy. But the phone even lifted my expectations: I got superb battery life, great performance and yes the screen really is a beauty.
Definetly worth the buy, you won't be disappointed at all!
One of the reasons I purchased my first Motorola (RAZR) was because of lapdock and WebTop. I'm hoping that someone can bring this back either in an app or as part of a Custom ROM.
Is this possible?
I would pay for a working webtop app. I would actually keep this phone instead of the Droid Ultra.
WEB Top

So this makes 2 that would pay, is there any others interested?
Not sure what good it'll do but id pay for anything that made my lapdock usable.
Have you guys tried airdroid? I am sure there are others but I only use web top for testing on occasion.
PS. Wrong forum I believe.

Missing WebTop
I like the lapdock and I like the browser in WebTop because it is not the phone browser so WEB sites stay in PC mode. I have looked at Airdroid but I don't want to have a laptop with me.
I posted in this forum in hops that this feature can be added in a custom ROM or in to an app.
I wouldn't count on seeing it as I think Moto has stopped using Webtop and will not be using it on any future devices. So unless someone makes a standalone app to do what Webtop did you may be hard pressed to see it in the future.
MIssing WEB Top
I heard that about Motorola dropping WEB top that is why I posted here in hopes that there is enough interest it resurrect it as an app or in a custom ROM

Webtop bounty here here! I got $30 contribution for a port to razr maxx hd xt926m.
This was mentioned in another thread. We tried changing resolutions for certain lapdocks.
These phones do work just fine with the lapdock 100 and 500. But it just makes your phone display look like a tablet. Then use opera or Firefox.

Webtop bounty? I'm in!

I'm interested if this goes anywhere. I don't have the lapdock yet but shopping for one now since I have become frustrated with tablets. I just switched to a razr hd & I am looking @ the 100 & 500 but a modded atrix looks appealing. I am just trying to learn what i can before taking the plunge.

Nice. Yeah I tried the atrix lapdock and did the mod where you flip the micro USB and hdmi. It works just fine (speakers, keyboard, track pad, everything) but the screen has black bars above and below that are like letterboxes. Even with the script manager you linked to still a no go.
The aforementioned screen issues do not happen with the lapdock 100 or 500. It goes full screen just fine. It basically just enlarges the display and makes it look like a tablet layout. I've seen lapdock 500s sell as low as $70 on ebay and the 100s go for as low as $40 shipped.
Why do we need webtop then you ask? If we got it ported, we would have more options for hdmi output, and it would have a dedicated layout for when it's docked. Also the black bars would no longer be an issue for those who have atrix or bionic lapdocks. Plus there's Firefox with flash, etc.
I have a brand new atrix lapdock that I modified. I also have the Motorola brand leather portfolio case. I have been very hesitant to get rid of it in hopes we get this bounty going. But with school starting again I'm afraid I might be less hesitant to buy a ld 100 or 500 if it's a great deal and list my atrix ld on ebay. Either way the whole situation is frustrating. I may just sell my phone and get the droid maxx or galaxy note 3 after they've been out for at least a month and I've been able to play with them thoroughly.
How much do you pledge Ronbo85? Hopefully we can get more folks interested. Spread the word!

Well I need to get my lapdock 1st before I committed and the usability issues concern me a little whether I should get one. If I commit I would pony up to everybody else. Do we have a DEV on board?
I didn't realize there was a bionic model (and I had a bionic) so now that expands my search. Thank you for the info.

The bionic one is nice because it's ports are oriented correctly. No physical mod needed. But it also has the black bar issue. So beware.
There is not a developer on board currently, if you could help with that, I'd appreciate it. I figure the more people that pledge the greater chance someone will commit to helping.

OK well let me try and get a lapdock. I am definately interested. I do need a little education here. So the lapdock is usable but has issues? The Atrix/Bionic ones have black bars due to screen resolution fit?
I was checking the 2 razr maxx's (non-HD) I have, one has JB the other has ICS and they both report webtop 3.0.0 in the settings menu. One of them has the stock rom and 2 custom roms all JB. One custom rom has webtop the other does not. I gather webtop is incorporated in the rom. Maybe the avenue is to appeal to a ROM DEV.
I appreciate your help.
