I have 70 Apps installed...
Can anyone help me??

Voodoo isn't compatible with JPK. It's mentioned in the documents.
Flash JPO over it, and apply voodoo to that. Or try flashing Chainfire's CF-root kernal over JPK if you want to try salvaging your apps. DISCLAIMER: Not sure what'll happen if you flash CF-root kernal over it. I think you'll loose your apps anyway?
z4mod is compatible with JPK, if you really want to use JPK (not sure why you would?).

Go to the newer JPO or JPA, try hardcores kernel over it. THE BEST experience.

hi, i'm new to android, and just get my captivate(rogers) few hr ago. and upgraded to 2.2
i did some research, mostly saying that 2.2 captivate has screen lag problem
and i know it can be fix, by lagfix, but how do i start?
i know there is some app in market to do that, but is it safe?
what happen if my phone become brick ?
if i use the ryanZA's one click lag fix 2.0, do i need to root my phone?
if yes how do i root? z4root?

Go to the Captivate Development section and the go to stickies and then read captivate directory. In there should be a link to a guide to rooting the rogers captivate.

yup! pretty much.. You should also look into the voodoo lagfix as it is much better than oclf.
I would avoid oclf. It is obsolete

That one would probably be decent. undo ext2 and uninstall oclf. Get neldar's sgs kernel flasher app from market and back up your current kernel, then install the new kernel. if any problems arise, simply restore your previous kernel with sgs kernel flasher. good luck!

it dont look right for my i896.
sorry for my stupid questions.
The one you mentioned earlier, or one of these should work for you.

Both of these are fast as well.
Hey guys, I'm also interested in upgrading from OCLF to the voodoo lagfix; how will flashing the kernel give me a performance improvement? Will voodoo work without the kernel flash?
*EDIT*- Also, does voodoo lagfix for the i-897 work for the i-896? I'm on Rogers.

i flashed to the firebird. works well score around 1450~1589
but every time i reboot i896(also when it got fully charger-ed), when i got into contact, it take about 5~10sec to load up the contact. is it normal?
Am I able to install the Voodoo lag fix on my Captivate? I know the AT&T version is supported but I rather not brick my device. Please respond!
Thanks,

I have a Rogers Captivate, and I have used Voodoo for a while.
Make sure you have root access, and go nuts. It really does improve the quality.
have u used voodoo with 2.2?
i just got the captivate and am now on stock 2.2 with root and oclf installed. is it worth changing to voodoo?

OCLF uses ext2, which is less safe than ext4, which is used by Voodoo. If you want Voodoo, flash the JJ4 + Voodoo kernel in the dev section.

Depends. The newer Kernals really unlock a lot of features that we didn't have before, and you don't have now.
If you use your phone as your media player, than the benefits of Voodoo sound were enough to make me switch.
hey guys, i got the official rogers 2.2, can i still use voodoo? what good roms use rogers 2.2 as a base and include voodoo? any suggestions?
Hey folks, another Canadian Rogers Captivate user here...just wanted to confirm if I can use the Voodoo stable 5.4.1 for Froyo 2.2.1 as it looks like I'm on 2.2 stock (and rooted)? I'm new to android and a bit scared, but the Voodoo fix seems easy enough..
No one seems to be answering the main question posed here.
For us STOCK Rogers froyo users which version of voodoo should we use?
I am not running a custom rom, I have not used Odin (used Kies to install official froyo update). I can't seem to find a version of voodoo lagfix specifically for stock Rogers 2.2. If anyone e has it installed can you point us in the right direction?

Hi there to all asking about Voodoo for Rogers,
I have tried suckerpunch (based on speedmod)
Also tried the newest speedmod 13c
No problems with either.
I personally have tried voodoo (5.4.1 and the one for att captivate) with no luck at all.

People have been using the SpeedMod kernel which is the Rolls Royce of kernels; it enables a lot of the Captivates features and power. However, the Kernel is based on the i9000 kernel, which is the sister handset to the Captivate. The kernels are compatible across both phones, but the stock modems on captivates don't seem to do as well with some setups; you'll see this in the sprawling thread dedicated to that topic. Some people will flash an i9000 modem as well, and people seem to have varying results with different combinations.
Having said that, if you don't want to use bluetooth, the stock modem is perfectly serviceable. You could go ahead and flash your SpeedMod kernel and see vast improvements is phone function without tweaking in the handset's general recovery menu. There's also plenty there to keep the tweaksters busy
However, new to the scene is the same developers amalgam of his voodoo lagfix in a stock Rogers Froyo kernel. I'm running it now and I am still testing and checking things, but it seems fine though. There are some caveats to respect though, I just spent nearly an entire day getting my phone back to Stock Froyo after doing a bad job of 'un'lagfixing before flashing kernels. However, if it's your first endeavour into flashing or modifying your phone's software, it would be a relatively safe bet. You should not have any lagfix installed nor should you even think about doing it without doing a Titanium Backup of your phone, which would mean rooting.
Hope that helps a bit.

It's sort of officially unofficial. It would seem to be a prebuild for a forthcoming Gingerbread release, it's tight and a great daily driver.
I did use Odin; follow the usual safety procedures and all will be well. The modem that comes with the package is great, but my 4G no longer works, it's 3G for now, but I got terrible 4G speeds anyway, so there's not much of a downgrade there.
The GPS did not function so great straight away, but I keyed in the code *#3214789650# - Settings - SUPL Settings, and changed the server to supl.google.com and the server port to 7276. I got much better results from that configuration.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the help of gps friend ... I have it installed and this great .. But you have some voovoo installed, can not find any on the net .. The voodoo 5.5.x served me just to change the start GTI9000, I do not like .. Thanks for your help..

Yes it converts data to ext4
CF-Root 3.2 I think is more stable and faster
Cf-3.2 is very fast and very stable. Not s single fc since installed! cwm +tweaks + ext 4. Quadrant 2100+

Voodoo over CF-Root
Can I install voodoo kernel (XXJVP) after my phone (SGS) was CF-rooted (v3.7)? Can I solve this without factory reset? I had backed up and restored all of my data before, but I'd like to try out voodoo kernel with ext4 filesystem convert, without dataloss.
It would be important, so somebody please help me!

I think you should flash the stock JVH first.
Using JVP (2.3.4) I had bluetooth issue with CF-Root, none so far with SpeedMod.
GPS was also not so goot with CF-Root, I'm gonna see tonight with SpeedMod
Has anyone done a quantitative comparison of battery life with different kernels?
I think every kernel has his own good and bad parameters so the difference between kernels depends of what apps do u use and what do u want from kernel...
So for someone it is Voodoo! For another one it's CF-Root and so on !!!

Hello i'm new here in this forum and new in the flashing/modifying world..it is my first time to flash my galaxy s -19000 using odin..and it is successfull
i'm on JVQ stock firmware now..thank GOD i can use my phone without lag
i only rooted my phone once using super one click and i did not add any mod after that because im so scared to flash it because back then i dont have the 3button combo recovery/download mode..i fix that with the help of adb..and that gave me the confidence to flash my phone now,.
my problem now is how to root this JVQ ROM because i need to restore my apps using titanium backup and it requires root access..
any method or guide is very much appreciated..thanks

I gave you root instruction based on your private message question, didn't you succeed?
can you pm on how to root it. i lost my root when i was messing around. i have the Ramad`s version of jvq now.
yay hmmm i'm a little hesitated to root it for now because i'm still checking the other users of jvq for there feedback about this rom...maybe i'll just wait for a while until the official firmware JVQ is release.. so far i'm happy with the stock rom..no problem minimal FC.. compared to FROYO 2.2 which is my older ROm this JVQ ROM is 10x faster..so far no lag..some of my problem right now is my old applications like asphalt and dictionary its not functioning it said file is corrupted..maybe because i installed titanium backup and my old application is not yet restored then i try to reinstalled it again from the market..and is not working properly so far the asphalt and dictionary only i haven't tried the other apps..
seems one of the most common problems with cf-root is that there is a bluetooth and/or wifi issue. I was hoping that the Gingerbreak APK would work on my stock JVQ, but it refuses to do anything (hangs on running exploit and then just disappears)...
Easuest and in my opinion safest way is. Use CF Root. Just search it on XDA. Look for the right version (XXJVQ is right on the bottom) then unzip the file. Open odin. Click PDA and find the kernel. Then out ur phone in download mode and start. It takes literally 10 seconds as kernels flash quikly. MAKE SURE THAT REPARTION IS NOT TICKED.... Hope that helped
