I used now Eclair and is good but i need change.
I need stable, fast and good Rom.
What can u do "offer"?
Try different ROM's and decide for yourself
i have tried just about every ROM on this forum and I always go back to HTCDevil's "fast and light ROM v2.0.
it is fast, light and stable. i would like to switch to one of the "froyo hacked" ROMs, but i need my video recorder ans more stability than the 2 i have tried provide for now (motofrenzy and bastardized).

Anything eclair based if you want stable, Personally I've had no massive issues with Bastardized and having Froyo is nice anyway. Sense ROMs are a bit slower due to the lack of RAM/Swap but still usable but not as a daily driver
im using cyanogenmod 6 from kabaldan, everything works fine and its really stable
I would try "CyanogenMod" works really great.
But more battery consumption.
App2sd @ FAT32 is awesome
fg
i instaled cyan and i have many fc ;/
On fast and light rom fast consumtion battery.
And i return too EclairMod.

Mine runs great...no FC no reboots.
motofrenzy is fastest rom for now. i can recommend it because motofrenzy is from official source..

Telus Lite V4.1
CM 6 stopped all reboot issues from official Motocrap ROM for me.
I have a Milestone in Argentina and i flashed it with Telus 3.11 which in my opinion is for now the best stable ROM. You have to manual install the 3D Gallery as it does not come wit this ROM.
From Telus you can choose to flash CM6 (i think) which in my opinion is still buggy and lot of user report problems with that or this.
Other possibility is than Telus Light 4.x or the upcoming 5.x, but includes heavy overclock.
I my self stay with Telus 3.11, de installed all the system/app crap, some boot manipulations, root, and a own theme based on Buggless Evolution. I am happy with it. No overlock, etc. as i am not a guy who plays a lot of cpu intensive games.
Perhaps i am going to improving the java engine.
Resume: Flash Telus 3.11 and from there you go.
I'm happy with eclair v3a for now. Battery life and lack of viable camera keep me away from the Froyo roms. In my opinion regardless of what else might be packed inside, the eclair rom has some crap cleaned out of it, has superuser and overclocking and a some other bells or whistles and it all works.
Good enough for me till someone cracks the kernal or we get a real milestone froyo.
Regards, PK
P.S. I've heard this lament for other roms, why does ADW or power launcher seem jerky at higher clock speeds?
xslntx's telus lite rom v4 is amazingly fast and stable. A hybrid rom based on euro and telus. Governed over/under clocking so battery life is good, but power is there when needed. V5 is coming out which promises to speed things up even more.

at least majority of the framework + libs are original droid libs, and is as official as it can get..
but i guess camera was always an issue, but this is soon past tence, when we get a good kernel, i might just fix a final motofrenzy before it gets officially released, as cm6 is not official, but is based on custom compiles based off android opensource.
In my opinion, the best ROM nowadays is the Eclair-based EclairMOD v3B by 89luca89. Fast and stable, never a reboot! Froyo based ROMs are faster just running benchmarks, in everyday use I think Eclair is still a step forward..

Eclair is actually a step backwards... i am fortunate to have tested a 2.1 on Galaxy S which really shows why you would chose froyo compared to a 2.1 rom.
Imagine opening 5 different apps, having 2 flash videos running in different windows and a game as well..
handling is so much so faster which is memory + froyo handling on top.
secondly for milestone, you get the option to move apps (non-rooted) to a sdcard, which is thanks to froyo too...
with all the extra froyo adds in already existing semi-2.2 roms, you simply meant patience is gold, but for some, that is already found.. i have been very happy with milestone running motofrenzy and motosense , and note: no reboots!!
but lacks camera, but i could care less, as ms camera is not worth much anyways...
with the early release of froyo 2.2 kernel, im sure you will upgrade very soon...
either official or to a custom cmX rom.
Froyo is surely much better as specs, but for everyday use, 2.2 ROMs have more disavantages than avantages, starting from the camera, battery life, mobile overheating, random reboot.. I'm speaking on my personal experience, maybe I was just unlucky!
Overall speed is true, is better on Froyo, but overall I still prefer Eclair. I've tried all 2.2 roms here and no one works absolutely fine on my Milestone, as better roms will come out, I'll surely upgrade to 2.2.. but now, Eclair for me!

+1 @ TelusLite 4.1
tested HoNo, CyanogenMod6, EclairMod, and MotoFrenzy..
TelusLite v4.1 is the absolute fastest of them all... I realize i have over-clocks with some other modifications to the memory/kernel, but TL4.1 screamed past them all with EclairMod in second place followed by HoNo
I did all tests from a factory reset & blank install.

I don't feel like a noob nor I didnt skip the long searching part, but sometimes I feel kinda lost in android world
Dear all,
In an attempt to organise the discussion, I have noticed that there are several threads aiming at discussing the best ROMS for the Milestone.
Some of us are using Shadowmod, Froyomod, CM7, CM6, Motofrenzy, GOT while some use Stock.
REQUEST 1: Each user, after updating to a new ROM/Nightly should state their ROM here, its version, and describe her/his own experience with the ROM.
REQUEST 2: If you have used more than one ROM, can you post comparisons of your experience with your ROM?
This should help in better understanding the advantages and disadvantages of each ROM and each nightly and even help developers of each ROM work together and exchange tips.
Thanks!
Also: CHECK THIS THREAD for links to ALL ROMS under development

My first post:
I am running Cm6 pre final. I removed facebook and Twitter and some other apps from system, installed them from market and moved them to SD. Not many mods, except heap size is 32, and no app2ext.
Very stable, very occasional reboots. Battery life is as expected, within standard cm6 range. Battery lasts 12 hours average, assuming you USE the phone and keep the display open significantly. Slightly laggy from time to time, but otherwise there is nothing to report except problems with languages that have a right-to-left orientation.
I love the mods. Just downloaded froyomod and considering a test drive for a day.
UPDATE > TESTING FROYOMOD 2.6.1.b
I just installed it, and am using it with basic settings. I only changed libwebcore.so with one that supports basic arabic reading in mail and web.
My general impression is that it is much faster and snappier, less laggy and generally lighter than CM6 Pre Final. Will keep testing it of course, but it generally seems to be a better ROM actually.
COME ON! )) WRITE your own REVIEWS of the ROMS YOU USE!
Best froyo atm is FroyoMOD 2.6.1 once the gps issue is sorted.
Best GB rom is Cronos 1.2.
But i am a stock rom person. I am at present using xt702 with arabic kernel, themed and a few mods by myself.

I have heard people talking about Cronos, but it doesn't seem to be as well-known as CM7. Is it faster or more stable?
I have used both FroyoMod 2.6.0 and CM7 RC4.1(current).
I find that CM7 is VERY polished. I had one reboot and it's been close to two weeks I've had CM7 on my phone.
With FroyoMod, I found that it was not as polished as CM7 and had some bugs, but it definitely seemed better optimized for the Milestone seeing as it's running Froyo.

Hey Saeen! here is not the place for this, but here you go Get libwebcore.so from the official 2.2 Arabic release or that file which has been online somewhere. Navigate to system/lib using root explorer, activate the permissions, paste it there to replace the current one (make a copy of the one there, just in case)., and reboot. You can read it Arabic, but it does not fix Right-to-left issues.
Well, i'am new here and i have an Motorola Milestone. I'am from Brazil so my english is kinda bad, but whatever. I'am running stock 2.2.1 from brasil, and my Milestone runs very smoothy! No FC or reboots for 1 week! Iam running it at 1ghz @62vsel. The brasilian official froyo mix motoblur elements with the original android, so the lockscreen for exemple is the same as the motoblur one, and the keyboard is the same as motoblur, the white keyboard. Miui 1.2.25
So I have found that MIUI 1.2.25 ROM from lalit79 to work the best for me.
The one thing that brings me back to it every time is its battery/power management plus it's fairly stable performance. Usability is the most important thing and I find its interface easy and speedy. Plus it comes with some great apps.
I have tried using the Gingerbread versions of it and they seem to be improving with each update however it is still lacking in the performance and stability of 1.2.25.
Other mods I have used are ShadowMod, Doshaka's CM6, Cronos and ofcourse the stock motorola.
All of which worked fine. However one problem i found across these roms was memory management. If I was using an intense application like angry birds and then revert back to the Home Screen I would find that all my icons would take a bit of time to load up. Only ROM where this has not happened is MIUI.
Hope my experiences help!
edit: I should also add that I use the old boot.img file in 1.2.25 as I experience random reboots if I do not. This applies to all mods mentioned above.
hey jumbz55, I had the same memory management issue as well with non stock ROM. So far I'm happy after reverting back to Eclair from Froyo, but this MIUI ROM that you mentioned interests me..
What MIUI ROM would you recommend? I'm sure there are many flavours out there. I need one with good memory management and of course care about the battery.

EXCELLENT WORK AS ALWAYS, Zeppelinrox
Roms I have once used:
5 in total
1. Froyomod 2.6.1/2.6/2.5
stability:
smoothness:
comment:
very nice with great memory management,
launcher seldom gets killed,
App2sd works well, the apps can be loaded quickly
Disadvantages:
GPS doesn't work
some demanding 3D games like NFS don't work (immediately get killed)
2.Shadowmod b3, b6
stability:
smoothness:
comments:
The best rom, thanks Edgard
app2sd works perfectly (after rebooting, the apps get loaded within 30s)
After playing 3d games like NFS, apps in apps drawer still need not be loaded again.
No laggy feeling (no kidding~!!!), launcher seldom gets killed but it can be loaded in no time.
3. Cronos gb 1.2
stability:
smoothness:
comments:
If u use app2sd, don't try this rom....
coz the apps reload frequently,
launcher always get killed after surfing internet, not to mention playing any games.
Overall, don't judge a rom's ability by just looking at its popularity in xda....
The most common;y used rom may not be the best one

Which version: CLARO, TIM, VIVO or RETAIL?
What your impressions about the battery performance?
Thanks.
Regards.
Have yet to find a gingerbread rom worth permanent daily use the closest in my opinion was firerats magpie but for some odd reason i cant get Gapps working right for it when flashed(terminal emulator is always missing)
which GingerBread Or Froyo Rom do yall think is the most customizable and stable?
TBH, I think all ROMs are about the same as far as customization and stability. (this is just my own opinion)
Now it come down to what you would like best between GB, Froyo, etc... That is different. Currently I like the Froyo build ROM. It seem to be running fast (for me). I didn't even bother with flashing the GAPPS, after I flashed the ROM I just went into the market and download the google apps that I neeeded (IE: GMail, Google+). Since I don't use all the google apps.
Don't know what you meant on the Terminal Emmulator. I always have it in all the ROM I flashed.
Currently I am using NameLessFroyo ROM (see my sig for ROM link) as of yesterday for my daily use.
Personally FBL is the best to me. I have it Metamorphed to look like Gingerbread, Sense3.0 Font, apps to EXT,I use Zeam launcher *Can't install my LP Plus since LP is the system launcher*.
A good GB rom is dw9009 *or somthing like that* His ROM is 100% pure CM7 Just like you'd get on a offical ROM. Then Sisterchick made a Barebones version of it called DietCm7. It just saves a lot of space, and runs on the phone it's self and not the Swap.

For a while I would like to ask this question, but I cannot post on the dev forum on the ezgingerbread thread:
Which one is faster or less laggy? I've been on ezgingerbread for more than two months, pulled the repo and compiled the .zip to install, also tried 0818 precompiled download. However, even the newest version does not give me the same speed I had with terry's MT3d OTA rom. On ezgingerbread, when I press Gmail for a first time, I still need to wait from 10sec to 30 sec for my gmail to occur (613MHz), it become 1-2 seconds if I open gmail again, but that performance doesn't hold if the interval is, for example, an hour or so.
I've heard good words about froyo by laszlo except that it is not developed now, but I guess what I care is: is it less laggy than ezgingerbread? I've read the comments following the poll
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18067831#post18067831
and developed a doubt about trying froyo by laszlo at this date. What do you think? As flashing a rom and reinstall would take me quite some time (not sure if titanium backup can restore my apps in gingerbread to froyo, or if the nandroid backup actually works perfectly...)
Your input is greatly appreciated.
If you do an nandroid+ext / bart backup switching between ROMs is not such a big thing, as long as radio/SPL requirements are the same.
Speed of ROMs is very subjective and depends much on the applications / services you've installed and which are running. If you do *not* install lastest Google Maps / Market / G+ / ... there is not so much difference between Froyo and Gingerbread, but if you use those apps on Gingerbread for sure it will be slower.
Just my 0.02€

Latest Market (3.1.6) is using ~10MB of internal Memory and > 25MB when running, even worse the situation for G+ and Maps. It's too much for a G1. As far as I know, those versions of the apps are not available for Froyo, but I might be wrong. That's the reason why I told "Gingerbread with the lastest Gapps is for sure slower than Froyo".
i tried both, lazlos is faster, did not use ext on sdcard. try both its not hard to switch between the 2 and see for yourself
Try both, then choose froyo for laszlo.
I use Froyo Melt by ldrifta (AKA: DreamTeam Froyo). It is very fast from my experience on G1. I also have apps and data on SD card with no lag (at this point) with about 20 apps installed. The only thing I use with GAPPS is the GMail.
So, based on my experience I would pick froyo for laszlo if I have to pick between the two.
If your looking for a fast GB ROM, with a good amount of internal space. Use my ROM Nomy CM7.1 2.3.7. Its really fast, is ment for optimum RAM. I'll be adding legacy Apps2ext. No MTD needed, no swap, its under 40MB Zipped. 52 on system. It will be under 40MB unzipped by the end of this month.

So if I ever want to stay with ezgingerbread, can I freeze the version of these apps:
Market to 3.1.5,
Gmail to 2.3.5.
Map 5.10.1
as I currently see them on my Froyo by Laszlo, can I expect similar feeling as a froyo ROM?
After several days, I restored back to ezgingerbread.
Froyo gives a rough feeling. Like everything is half-baked. Froyo by Laszlo has a problem in the battery life, I flashed ezterry's newest kernel over it, still not up to my expectation (not sure why). So I am going back.
I do not have enough time to try other roms suggested to me, guys, sorry!

Agreed. Gingerbread, although not extremely fast, is a very nice, clean upgrade. Gb, and almost any version of it, is a interface clearly focusing on more than just performance, it offers aesthetics like nothing else.
My wife's phone died today and I'm going to resurrect my old G1 and give it to her ... I was running CM-something on it and was not happy because it was very slow and crashed a lot ...
So ... what is the fastest and most stable G1 rom? She doesn't care about GPS or special features -- she just wants a phone that will work well.
"We are offering three kind of ROMs: fast, stable and full featured
you can choose any two characteristics:
- fast and stable will not be full featured
- fast and full featured will not be stable
- stable and full featured will not be fast"
It depends much on what you want. First you have to choose the base, i.e. Gingerbread, Froyo, Eclair, Donut, Cupcake?
Then you have to decide if you need apps2ext?
Then you need to decide about additional features / settings.
Some ROMs which are working well in my opinion are:
ezGingerbread/ADS_Magpie, CM 7.1 Magpie, FroyoByLazlo, Enomther's Original Donut, ... there are much more, but I do not know them well.
If she just wants a basic phone that you can text/call/email/browse web then use dwangs 1.6 rom. Never crashes or FC's
Then download opera mini browser

I'm sorry, I have used a lot of gingerbread ROMs and Gingerbread is one of the unstable kind. I would prefer, if you're not into lots of apps and only for music, use a Donut ROM, where the phone is made for. Super D is an awesome ROM, good speed, but if you are into apps and want one of the latest firmwares, use FroyoByLazslo with a ICS theme, looks awesome, can't find the thread though.
