[Q] Battery Life - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok so I tried all of the following battery life tweaks:
collin_ph Battery Tweak
DecaMOD Battery Tweak
SetCPU
Overclock Widget

collin_ph Battery Tweak didn't seem to work, I guess.
DecaMOD Battery Tweak didn't seem to work either.
SetCPU freezes my phone whenever I overclock it.
Overclock Widget works, but it doesn't seem to be working now.
One night my battery was ay 92%, I had Overclock widget on and had the Screen Off preferences set to as low as possible. I woke up the next morning and it was still at 92%. I thought it was really awesome, but I removed it to try SetCPU, SCPU froze, so then I reverted to OC Widget and it doesn't seem to be working D:
Any tips - tricks for SetCPU or OC Widget?

Collin's and DecaMOD are both "passive" apps, so you wouldn't really notice a difference, depending on use. At least in my experience. Did you enable profiles and set some up when you were using SetCPU?

You aren't using a bat tweak AND set cpu/overclock widget are you? If so, there is your problem. Never have more than one thing controlling your clock speed. One tweak or one app. No more

+1. No no no. Use one only

ah i have colin battery tweak and overclock but i get at least 11 hrs with both of em on. So to stop overclock just kill the app with task killer? or don't grant it superuser?
I just flashed colin battery tweak to see what it had to offer

You can just uninstall one of them. Look for 16 - 24 hrs of battery life. That's about avg. I would say. I get about 16 on fairly heavy use.

SetCPU settings for battery life

I have it set on the defaults. 245-998. and governor on demand. does this make sense? abit noobish sorry. running enomther
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Also, I hope all these settings are reversible.. ie if I uninstall the program it goes back to what it was before?
The default settings is what heard works best. I don't use setup because it feels like I get worse battery life with it. I feel my phone gets great battery life without the program. Yes if you uninstall and reboot you are back to the settings before you installed the program.
That's not the part that saves battery, you need to enable profiles and down clock the cpu when it is asleep.
Which profiles do we enable? (that's the same basic setup I'm using too)
anyone?

I'm sure someone will answer. I just downloaded set CPU to play with so once I find something I'll post.
you can enable the sleep/standby profile (setting the max to 245 and min as 245 as well); you can also set up the charging profile, failsafe profile, and when the power is below certain level
EDIT: the very basic setting to save some battery would be to enable the Standby/Sleep profile (set both max/min to 245)
Ok. Looking at it it seems very simple.enable profiles. Edit the sleep profile and set tour max to whatever you like. Seems straightforward to me, this is the first time I've looked or messed with it.
Oops. Should've refreshed before posting.
Ok. I'm using Enomther 1.8.1. And in spare parts there is a setting to set max and min cpu frequency, i left it as defualt which is the same default in SetCPU min max 245/998
So I went into profiles and enables sleep profile and set min max 245/245 but when I come out.. it says my defualt is now max min 384/245
Why did the defualt change im using only sleep profile and main profile
EDIT: makes sense the Max would fluctuate since I set it on demand.. Of course I wouldnt expect the CPU to be at 998 all the time . Sleep set at 245/245
I set all profiles to be 'on demand' and then sleep is 245/245, awake is 245/1113 and charging is 245/652 (stop it getting too hot)
imo sleep on 245/245 isn't the best. cos basic functions like clock won't be updated. it would update when wake causing even more CPU draw. my sleep is set at 325 max

exactly. Oh by the way, I just saw your msg, I use both juicedefender and setcpu.

Thanks for the help man, hopefully this'll help me out a bit with my battery life.
Those profiles are all 'on demand' though right?

[Q] Extend Battery Life??

I want to know if there is a script or something some trick to extend battery life??...i don't want programs or anything else...
1. Stay on 2G. Data activity using 3G/HSDPA drains battery the fastest.
2. Minimum brightness
3. No vibration if possible
4. Use custom kernels with governors such as smartassV2 or lazy or SavagedZen implementing deep sleep.
5. Don't sync too often (Facebook, Twitter, 4square etc.) Keep 'em syncing every 2 hours or so.

thanks man
try set cpu or any application that can pro-long battery, but it can cause your mobile to lag sometimes..
this topic may help you to improve your battery life
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198333
keep the brightness low.....
turn the auto sync off when not in use........
turn off haptic feedback.........
always clear off runnings apps.......

Or get an extended battery from my favorite Mugen Power for 1400mAh which has OEM size and adds 17% more capacity.
Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904280 or flash this slim rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956127
Max battery saving
Use a light rom like the Cyanogenmod 7 for Galaxy Mini and switch off every transition animation possible. Switch off auto-rotate if not using. Underclock to about 400 Mhz. and set ondemand as the governor. Lower screen brightness. After that, DANCE and shake your butt.

wake up phone quickly

hello guys I want to know in iphone when you click power button the screen turns on immediately but in Zeus 6.33Bn (also all roms I have tested contains stock rom ) it opens after 2/3 seconds some times if there is a lot of apps are working it take 5-15 seconds to open
any solutions ??

what??
will it affect ??!!!
He mean: Why dont you close some unnecessary app?
and I don't see a big difference between 2/3s and immediately to wake up the phone ^^

I agree!
But using auto task killer will speed up a bit your phone.
If you want you phone even better, use supercharger script.

To my mind, it changes nothing or nearly nothing i use advanced task killer and im using it seldom, after charging only, or when i want to play some demanding game...
But, sticking to the topic, i would advice changing processor governor, what were you using? Are you using custom lockscreen like go launcher or widget locker?

I'm using zeus and it has the default ginger bread lockscreen and I'm on smartass2
Its quite weird, because smartass2 is rather aggressive governor. However, this long-time waiting (5-15sec) comes from lowering CPU frequency to really low, deep sleep numbers.
If its a real problem for you, you can easily increase lowest CPU freq and see if it changes anything. And second thing which comes to my mind, check in build.prop line "pm.sleep_mode=1". It causes device to get into deep sleep.
But, of course these changes will affect battery life... quite strongly :/

Just rooted, how to increase RAM and CPU

How do I increase the speed of my Z1 by increasing the RAM and CPU?
not any help sorry but am curious to know why you need extra speed (faster cpu)?
can understand underclocking the cpu to save battery but the phone already runs incredibly fast, an extra 100/200mhz wont make much difference other than kill your battery quicker.

You can use any of the apps from the Play Store such as:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sineo.android.noFrillsCPU
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.antutu.CpuMasterFree
There you can change governors and try to overclock your CPU. DO BARE IN MIND THAT THIS COULD POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!!
If you don't know what you are doing, don't play with fire.
The device is already super fast. You could downclock it if you want more battery life but its safer to just use apps such as Greenify or the built in stamina mode.
I guess I meant I need to increase my batterylife, I already have Greenify and I did mean underclocking but it came out wrong. I want to drastically increase my batterylife without installing a ROM.
Well if you want to OC you'd need a kernel that supports that. To increase ram, you can delete system apps that you don't need, use greenify to hibernate apps and in developer options, lower background process limit. If you want to make things snappier, you could lower the window animation, transition animation and animator duration (in dev options)

Trickster Mod app

Does anyone use the Trickster Mod app on stock kernel? I have the donate version and i take advantage of the charging LED light. If so what, if any tweaks did you try? I also use the multi core power save tweak set a 2. For anyone that may know, would using titanium backup to convert Trickster Mod to a system app have any advantages?
Doubtful. AFAIK Trickster mod just makes the changes at startup, it doesn't need to run all the time.
BTW I have both enabled, the multi core power saver and mp-decision.
Cool to know it works with the stock kernel. Is there a noticable difference in performance and does it give you better battery life?

It's tough for me to say if it gives better battery life due to a lot of changes in settings, e.g. greenify, app permissions etc working in connection. I will say it doesn't hurt. When my phone is asleep I lose about 1 to 1.5 percent per hour which is okay with me. Performance is fine for my needs. Plus I like the LED feature to know when my phone is charge by the status of the green light without having to psychically unlock the MX and check. But to say how much of a difference is hard to tell without setting everything else back to default and just using Trickster.
