Extended Batteries - Motorola Droid and Milestone General

Hey guys, thinking about buying an extended battery for my milestone.
Apparently there are some issues with the kernel only recording battery life (yeah, google research ) for the stock 1330mah batteries (so once you exhaust about half of a 2800mah battery it just sits there for another day thinking it only has 5% battery life remaining).
Is there a way for us to manually tell the phone it has a larger battery in it?
I'm using the latest CM6.1 build if that changes anything (get about 26hrs with it on the stock battery).
Will be happy to be a Guinea Pig for any tweaks once I order one.

phone not showing proper extended battery %

has anyone found a way to get the hd2 to properly show the battery percent of extended batteries? i have a 2400mah battery and i have to remove the battery and put it back in to get it to show the rest of the battery life when it is almost dead. Its quite annoyin.
Could you give some more information, eg: What ROM, RADIO version you use. And if you use Android, what Android version and kernel.
Also, Use the search function, since there have been a lot of "extended battery not showing right percentage" threads in the HD2 Android Q&A section.

Im using dusk rom with radio 2.10.50.26.
the battery is a cameron sino 2400mah extended battery. Im pretty sure it isnt one of those double batteried made into one. Is there a newer radio update that gives extended battery support that i need?

I dont know, but I have a 2400 mAh battery and it shows the exact percentage .. though I'm using energy ROM . Try to change your rom, maybe its the reason
the problem is your battery! get the original extended battery. also the 2300mah battery from the company "leicke" is working for me. i had a cheap 2400mah chinese battery before and had the same problem.
the thing is, that these chinese batterys are faking, they are normal ones because the driver of the hd2 origininally didnt support bigger batterys in the first roms.
the chinese batterys are out of date and also the capacity is mostly a giant fake!
my battery did cost 21 euro incl shipping and is working correctly.
dont try to fix the problem with hints and tricks or calibrations, it will NOT work with the cheap batterys! i already tested it.
your device is ok, throw away your extended battery or keep it as emergency replacement.
If you have the one from ebay that costed around 13.72 USD
then do this
1.) Charge 100% + 2-4 hours more if possible
2.) Drain battery completely to switch over to second battery
3.) Charge second battery 100% + 2-4 hours more if possible
4.) Drain battery completely
5.) Repeat steps 1-4 once more and your battery should function as expected
Worked For me.
Yes i still have to change battery but i have 2days at first part then remove move in and another 1,5 day is here so its good

[Q] Batteries: Extended and Kernels

So I have been running two 3500mah batteries from 2 different vendor and one hold a lot more charge than the other, probably a faulty one. Went ahead ordered two more extended for longer usage.
Does anyone have really good experience from ebay seller that you get the same consistent quality every time you order or is it a hit / miss situation?
Can the kernel play any role on a different capacity battery?
People that run multiple 3500 mahs, do they run relatively same? do you wipe battery stat every time you swap?
I can get 40-50 hrs with light wifi radio use
I got a good battery from http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260798018307&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
a bad one from http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220771384257&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
It's only bad because it doesn't hold as much charge, and when you use it for a a few task the battery would drop 1-3% just because maybe using it updated the percentage? but this happens a lot after it goes on stand-by.
It could've just been a bad batch.
The kernel definitely doesn't effect battery capacities; however, I do believe it can effect the rate of consumption depending on the coding, if I'm not mistaken. During my experiences with eBay non-oem batteries is that they aren't great quality and fail a hell of a lot faster than oem batteries. I do a lot of research before I buy so that's saying something...hope this helps
Theoretically the battery can last longer or shorter depending on that setting.
The oem does pretty well holding its charge.
How long does your battery last and which rom?
Where do you get your supply from?
Model : EB575152VA is what I'm seeing being sold from a few places and what came with my phone.
Wonder if that's what you have?

Battery you're using and the life you get out of it

Hello all. I'm curious how many of you are using your stock Captivate batteries or have purchased different higher capacity ones and what kind of life you get from them? (Particularly those running an ICS from with and without oc/ov/uv)
The stock battery is supposed to be a 1500 May capacity but there are many others out there.
I was lucky to get a full day or get into a second day without charging on stock battery. I then found a great place online with good replacements at different capacities for good prices and got some backups.
Just the 1750 May I got first was decent and was noticeable improvement and I just recently got a new 2200 May that came with a new back cover cuz it was tiny bit thicker to accommodate the higher yield and that one is great for getting two days plus...more if I UV, battery save profile and don't over use.
Battery life on my SGSICS on stock Platypus kernel was great and 1-2 days but once over to Glitch kernel that dropped dramatically until I got the new battery. But now that v14 b5 is out it is better on battery life and I now run it at 1.54Ghz beautifully and have found good voltages and battle life is easily into 2nd day again.
Curious to hear what some of you have for batteries and life cycles u get....

Battery life sucks! VS980

I'm on the verge of selling this phone because of it. Im on Pacman 5.1.1 and I the thing average around 2:30 of SOT! Is this normal???
How old is your phone? As the battery ages it will lose capacity. My G2 is more than 2 years old and I'm noticing that battery life isn't what it used to be.
Also if I do something which causes high battery drain, like navigation with the screen on and high brightness, afterwards (screen off, navigation off) I will notice the battery percentage recover. Just last night the battery was at 13% by the time I was done navigating with screen on. Half an hour later (during which time screen was off) the battery level shot back up to 23%.
This is called "sag" and is normal.

Here's something that can improve your battery life :
Flash a custom debloated rom. If you like UX, flash either ndm , cloudy g2 3.3 or icex rom, i have used them all and they are great.
Next, use dorimanx kernel , flash it and give it a day or two for your battery to settle in, select battery profile, full charge and use it, you will see the battery is improved.
Use greenify and hibernate app after using them so that they dont run when u turn off your screen, which is called deep sleep .
Use better battery stats to monitor battery consumption.
My phone is a year old and a half and i am getting 5 hour SoT using these.
Phone came out 3 years ago, so even if you happened to get one brand spanking new yesterday never used before the battery has some 'wear' on it from sitting in a box on a shelf or whatever. If it's been in use over the past 3 years then obviously the battery life will NOT be anything like it was when it was brand new fresh from the factory.
If you take the back cover off you'll be able to see the manufacturing date on the battery itself clearly (yes you can actually remove the back cover itself, just do it carefully to not damage the clips, there's no sticky tape holding the cover on just the typical clips around the outer edges.
If battery life is that bad then either install a custom ROM and use some kernel manager (requires root obviously) or order a new battery but make sure it's an OEM actual LG battery and not some cheap Chinese knockoff which there are plenty of. Get an original LG BL-T7 and run with it, I'm about to order one myself since the battery in my G2 is dated 2014.04.24 as pictured. It works fine, but obviously now that I'm the "new" owner of this G2 (just got it last week) I intend to make use of it for the foreseeable future and a brand new OEM battery will be the best solution for me in that respect.

does this look like normal battery usage stats for any given rom.?

seem to be having a tough time of an 8hr day with about an hour of SoT at 45%.
From my experience with the stock rom, yeah that's pretty normal, as for any rom? Dunno, but I've been having a similar experience, sometimes overnight my phone will drop as little as 2% other times it can be upwards of 10% quite annoying especially when I know with minimal tweaks Android can get great battery life, as low as 2% per day, but I haven't rooted or installed roms yet so I can't do that.
Are you using a stock LG battery, perhaps the one that came with the G4 itself? Have you pulled the battery and checked the date code on it? There could be two dozen reasons for that kind of battery life you're experiencing, the first thing I'd suspect would be the battery's actual age since the G4 is now at least 2 years old (released in May 2015) so depending your particular phone's manufacturing date and the date code on the battery itself that's something to check into.
That potential, plus screen brightness, how much stuff is going on in the background, your cellular signal quality (weaker signals make the radio pull more power to maintain a connection), whether or not you use Wi-Fi whenever possible (saves on battery compared to weak signal cellular, HSPA+ or LTE doesn't matter - and having "full bars" is not enough of an indicator either), having the NFC enabled as your pic shows you do all the time when it's not needed probably the vast majority of it (and should only be enabled on an as-needed basis), the particular stock ROM you're using (even down to particular builds) or custom ROMs using some stock components (like debloated ones), absolutely everything goes into it to be honest.
There's just no one answer to this, unfortunately, and tweaking things for the best or the longest battery life on any modern device like the G4 is a dark art and black science all unto itself.
Check the date code on the battery you have, if it's older than one calendar year then I'd say look for something better, perhaps something like the TQTHL 5000 mAh battery which has a lot more capacity obviously but it's still the same size as the stock battery so it won't require a custom back cover or extended case to use it. Also, if you do get such a battery that has more than the stock battery's 3000 mAh rating you're going to need to get an external charger - the G4 itself (based on stock ROMs of any and all kinds) will stop charging an extended capacity battery at 3000 mAh and that's that. You have to get an external cradle or charger to get the full capacity charge (there's more info about this in the thread in the Accessories subforum about the extended batteries testing.
Suffice to say it can take some tweaking to eek out the best battery life you can muster with a G4, especially if it's pure stock (but there are some custom kernels for stock ROMs also which can be tweaked nicely for longer battery life too if you're able to unlock the bootloader on your given device (not everybody can obviously).
