Kernel, cpu, governor, scheduler combo for better battery life? - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
Tried various kernels on cm 6.1 rc1 and cfs vs. bfs scheduler with 128mhz to max. Also interactive and ondemand governor.
Anyone like to share in your opinion which kernel_cfs/bfs_governor gives the better battery life , of course stability?
Thanks!

Smartass governor for stock JVP 2.3.4??

Hello guys,
I decided to go with stock JVP, little O/Ced with Tegrak OC app.
The problem is that in my opinion there is still no existing optimal CPU governor for GB. The default ondemand performs very poor in 3D, conservative- poor in Quadrant's CPU and Memory benchmarks...
Is there any way we can use the Smartass governor with stock GB 2.3.4?
Thanks!
+1 vote for smartass cpu governor for i9000. Anyone tried compiling it?
Use this kernel as it has smartass gov, i use it and find it really good.

[Q] Which is the most recommended Governor

I'm using emanoN V4 with No-Frills, and since CM7.1 with SetCPU, I always used 'ondemand' as Governor.
But reading other posts on other devices forums about this, some people say SmartassV2 is the best...
So, as each device is different (specially by the ARM version and manufacturer), I decided to begin this conversation here, and listen to what people with the same device as me has to say about it.
So which Governor do you consider the best for SGM?
Im using cm7.2, setting at nofrilis Governor : SavagedZen io : sio and undervolt at cm setting, give more battery life.
Sory for bad english

Thanks for the reply, but as I can see on No-Frills, sio is th I/O Scheduler, that is already set. I'm asking here about the Governor.
Ondemand and set noop

on emanonV4 i use Smartassv2 nd i/o noop
I see that people are very divided between ondemand and SmartassV2.
Now with sio and noop as I/O Scheduler.
Anyone else would like to share?
i will say ondemand because cpu will be set at lowest frequency and when you need it it will set at higher frquency which will save your battery and if you want performance then no lag will be good
The principle of the ondemand governor I'd already figured out (and actually didn't like it, very rough).
I would like to hear more about the principle of the SmartassV2, whereas since this morning I'm using SmartassV2 + noop and I noticed my SGM way smoother than with ondemand + sio.
Now is wait and see if the battery is sucked more.

smartassV2 is a re-working of the original smartass governor, it allows for the CPU to scale through all frequencies from the lowest you set to the highest, based on the load occuring. Basically it scales CPU based on realtime needs of the system, saV2 supposedly incorporates some more agressive settings for screen off, and I believe quicker scaling than the original smartass.

Thanks a lot, man! And now I think that I had made my choice:
Governor: SmartassV2
I/O Scheduler: noop
Highly recommended!

Gaming kernel and rom...???

Which is the best gaming kernel and rom
.....????
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
Best gaming kernel ?
The latest AniDroid kernel.
Underclock it to 250MHz @850mV.
Overclock it to 1.6GHz @1300mV.
Undervolt each frequency.
Overclock the GPU to 400MHz.
Install ChainFire Engine from the Market.
The ROM doesn't matter much, but I'd stay clear from TouchWizz because its bloated.
Something like sixstrings's AOKP Build 40. Or ParanoidAndroid v0.5. Or some other ROM.
The most efficient IO is Simple IO governor, aka SIO. Benchmarks show it as weak, but its actually the best one, eveyone knows this.
The most efficient governor for the N7000 is interactiveX.
lulzactiv and pegasusQ don't seem to work well for many people (me included).
When gaming something intensive (GTA3, DeadTrigger, Flash games, etc) you might one to change it to "Performance" governor. But it will drain your battery fast, so have it charging or have a spare battery handy. And remember to deactive "Performance" governor back to interactiveX (or otherwise Hotplug or Ondemand).
Besides this, try experimenting with different set ups. You could get different results, and find what works best for you.
OK. THREAD CAN NOW BE CLOSED. DON'T FORGET THE THANKS BUTTON.

how i configure CastagnaKernel OV for have max performance

how i configure CastagnaKernel OV for have max performance without trasform in cheese my cpu? what the governor? the i/o scheduler and the processor mhz?
Sorry for my bad english, but i am an ignorant
OV? Over-volt? do you mean OC? Overclock or UV? Undervolt
smartassV2/SIO (personal favourites)
245mhz/1800mhz (so default settings)
And I think you can better post this in the topic itself, and you will never turn your cpu into cheese, i once ran a benchmark at 2.016Ghz, and it just turned off

I remembered the cranium kernel at 2016 mhz..it became really hot...
Ondemand( little bit tweaked) 368 1804 sio...that s perfect
Q.D.E.
It would be better if you post this on kernel's thread I think there is no need to made a new post about that and sorry but and I'm not trying to be disrespectful. however you can use smartassv2 245-1800mhz that's a good choice.

the combination of default: lulzactive + sio is very performant (CFS version)
or you can try the governor lagfree
if you want the best reactivity using the BFS kernel version,
but is less multitasking

Best governor and io scheduler for a smooth performance

Hello everyone
As the title says
For anyone who has enough knowledge to advice us about this topic.
Which governor and io scheduler to use for a smooth performance and good battery life.

I have found Interactive to be a good balance of performance and battery life, it is the stock governor actually. Conservative can be good as well but I like the slightly better response from Interactive. My kernel has deadline as the default and I haven't messed with it.

I'm on elemental X and it provides its own governor.
I think I should stick with the governor that is provided by the kernel...

each kernel provides many governors for you to use.. why do i have to use the governor thats default to the kernel when the governor that i use is much better in performance and battery??? you should use whichever one you like, provided that you know what you are doing. btw, i use ondemand governor with deadline scheduler.
