hey everybody.
i want to set up voodoo 5 pre6 on my sgs. i want to use the alternative installation method like it is described on voodoos website since it seems a lot easier. (i wanted to post the link but i'm not allowed to...)
now i notice that i've got the 3e recovery. does that mean i can't use the alternative installation method (probably) and i have to use the "normal" method?
is this lagfix working on the official froyo release? i have jpp/jpo.
do i need root?
do you know when oclf will work with froyo? because i suppose that is the most easiest way.
thanks.
Oclf works with Froyo now, but it needs 2e recovery. Is there any disadvantage to change to 2e?

anyone know of a guide or app that can root and also unroot the samsung galaxy s.
Simpler the better obviously, but if doing it the long way is somehow safer i don't mind that either.
Would prefer to keep my warranty intact, and also upgrade to froyo without promlems in future, so a undo option would help.
thanks
Just download ryanzas one click lag fix from market or somewhere on this forum. Its very simple to use, no pc required.

but remember
the root in ryanzas one click lag fix can only effect in 2.1 system
it cannt make the froyo to be "root"
get root in 2.2(froyo) need to flash a modded update.zip

RyanZA's one click lag fix will root 2.1 without any problems. Go on to market and download the app. Then open the app and use the "Root 2.1" option. Reboot into recovery and apply the update.zip. Your phone is now rooted!
The current option to root FroYo is flashing a PDA in Odin:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
does it also do the lagfix automatically?
i'd prefer not to do the lagfix, given there is some fear that it might be causing internal sd card failures.
As the title says ive installed official jp6 via kies (norwegian official).
Tried to install oclf lagfix , since i think the jp6 aint smooth enough without.
Oclf didn work for me atleast, all the buttons is red.
So is there any other lagfix for jp6 out there yet, like voodoo or something else?
You must root it before.
What is the easiest method for rooting this official Froyo ? RyanZA's One Click Lag fix APK should be great and easy to use but it does not support VooDoo but OneClick Lagfix and most of the people say that VooDoo is better. So please can someone give us .apk which could root and install VooDoo lag fix on official Froyo when new VooDoo is out ? Like .apk and if it is not possible then as update.zip all in one solution. I really think that some "update.zip" file which roots and installs VooDoo lagfix at once would be great fot all of us.
Tnx

I used Chainfire's fix:

Not exactly one-click, but not that hard either.

this worked fine for me, then oclf worked once i removed the cable and rebooted the phone
Hey im just about to root my galaxy s so I can apply a lagfix and just want to clarify im doing the best thing
I am on version 2.2 froyo JP3
I'm going to be using super one click root and oclf
Is that the best option for me to root and lagfix??
I personally prefer z4root (check the dev section). It's run as an app on your phone vs connecting your phone to your PC and running the desktop app. Unfortunately, z4root doesn't seem to work on all firmware versions while super one click appears to cover them all. You'll have to check if it works on yours.
An easier solution might be to simply flash a custom kernel that includes root and a lag fix. There's a ton of them in the dev forum. I've personally run SpeedMod and it includes what you're looking for.
Good luck.
Hi,
I'v had a look for this in the forum but not found any infomation on this.
Has any one been able to root the new JPY update that take the Samsung galaxy to Froyo 2.2.1?
If you how did you do?
Dude it takes a few seconds to use the search function: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Also SuperOneClick works just fine.
i rooted my phone using z4root
jje
You have 2 options:
1) SuperOneClick has worked for me on 2.2.1 where others have failed. It's a desktop app you install.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
2) Flash a custom ROM that's already rooted. The advantage to this is it also includes a fix for 3e recovery that will let you flash update.zip files from your phone (required for some apps). There's a few kernels out there that do this and everyone has their preference. I personally use SpeedMod. Check the developers page for instructions, downloadable file, tutorial, etc. This is the option that I personally would do.

or just flash a custom kernel ie chainfire cf kernel.
how can you root using z4 on 2.2.1 when you cant even install the app? after updated to 2.2.1... the z4 root is useless even if its downloaded straight from xda and transfer to the phone.
Hello,
First i used z4root to root my sgs 2.2 but since i updated to 2.2.1 i cant root it anymore.
Anybody got a solution?

SuperOneClick.

Desktop app that seems to work with EVERY firmware version I've tried.
Alternatively, flash one of the custom kernels from the i9000 dev forum. For example, I've flashed SpeedMod which includes root as well as the recovery fix.
Yeah, I met the same problem, once I upgraded to official 2.2.1 JPY. Unfortunately, since Z4root doesn't work anymore, there is no easy way to root it without computer.
Seems like super one click is the best option so far.
Plus, you might be aware as well, adfree can't support i9000 2.2.1. :-(

Thank you, with SuperOneClick it worked .
I'm Root again.
I could not get SuperOneClick working on my Dutch SGS. I regained root on 2.2.1 with CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.
Just pushed it in using Odin, no problems so far.
