[Q] i9000m asking for network unlock code this morning? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I bought a Bell Vibrant back in August and unlocked it to use on Rogers. Things have worked fine, I haven't rooted, or tried any custom roms, nothing unusual. But this morning I wake up to find the phone asking me for the network unlock key? I hadn't done anything unusual the night before. And the key I saved from the first unlocking did work fine, but I'm just wondering whats going on here?
Could the Daylight Savings change have triggered something maybe?
Thanks for any info.

I had the same thing a month ago. Just type the code again and it will be OK.....I guesss untill the next time.

I had the same thing happen after changing to a new battery. Phone was unlocked with the Samsung battery. I installed a 3rd party battery and on the reboot it asked for the unlock code.

[Q] Mystery auto-bricking

I have had two Galaxy S handsets auto-brick themselves. They were working fine and then suddenly they would not turn on. All I would get was a black screen. I could not even factory reset.
I've gotten the second set repaired by Samsung. They think that an app is causing the problem. What both handsets had in common was that they were unlocked. The first set had lag-fix but not the second. Also, both sets were running LauncherPro.
What do you think is bricking my phones? Now I am afraid to run any apps. I can't believe that sim-unlocking would brick my phone. That just doesn't make any sense. Is it LauncherPro then?
Thanks much.

Were the phones actually bricked or did they just suffer from the mysterious comatose syndrome where the phone will essentially shut itself off and the only way to get it back on is to hold the power button for like 10 seconds or sometimes have to do a battery pull?
I am assuming that you tried these items on your past 2 devices. If they were actually bricked and the ONLY thing they had in common was the sim unlock then I would definately take a look at that to start.
Perhaps it was not the fact that they were unlocked but maybe the method you used to unlock them?
Anyone else have any ideas or answers?
I used the utility from xda that gives you the unlock code from your phone. Then I entered the unlock code the phone asked for it. Is there any other way to unlock it? Could it be the launcher?
PS: The phone was actually bricked.

[Q] How do I lock my phone again?

Hi
I rooted and unlocked my captivate, but I now need to send it to samsung for repairs - my phone shuts down all the time, especially after a recharge.
I unrooted the phone using the update.zip, but I want to know how to lock it again. It should not keep on asking me the unlock code every time it boots up, which it is doing right now.
I need this fast, as the shipping label I got from samsung is only valid for some days, so I have to ship the phone off.
Thanks
you can odin one click back to stock, but I wouldnt bother, its just unlocked how can that void your warranty?
You won't be sending your sim with the phone. That popup won't show with no sim.

[Q] Captivate won't unlock after boot

Hey XDA'ers. I need your help. I just bought a Captivate today from someone, and I realized (once I got home) that the phone would never let me advance from the "slide up to unlock" screen. I tried everything, and it won't unlock. The only way to actually get into the phone is by rebooting it and swiping up (like to unlock it normally) as soon as you can. If you lock and attempt to unlock it after that, it does nothing.
I unrooted the phone, did a soft factory reset (retaining 2.2 Froyo), a hard factory reset, and even did an Odin3 reset (back to 2.1), to no avail.
Is there anything I can do, or is this phone beyond help?
Thanks!
You should not longer have a "slide up to unlock" if you oden-ed back to stock AT&T 2.1. Stock 2.1 only had one unlock screen and it was the sliding glass. Or, is this what you had and it still wouldn't unlock?

Yeah, it's the standard "sliding glass to unlock" screen.
I just rememebered that a similar thing happens when I am done with a phone call. It takes a good 10-15 seconds for my phone to register that yes, I am done with the phone call, and yes, I should be allowed to select "end call" after I'm done.
Anyway, it's all very frustrating having a phone that is usable only after a reboot (the slide to unlock screen actually does unlock only at this point.) Any ideas?

This is more of a workaround as opposed to a fix, but if it works, then our friend here won't have to reboot every time the phone locks.
Just curious, did your seller say anything about the phone doing this?

Well, I was able to just exchange the phone at an AT&T help center for free, without any problems.
And the guy I bought it from said that it had "no hardware issues." And what a lie that was. He wouldn't even answer my phone calls after I figured out that it didn't work. BUT, it all worked out for the best.

[Q] S3 randomly turning off?

Hi,
I have flashed the 4.1.2 EE ROM found at (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1942150) and also flashed the Perseus kernel.
Since this, however, I have found my phone randomly just decides to turn off and people end up dialling my other number to ask why I'm not picking up their calls, to which I check my phone and see it's completely dead.
What makes things stranger is that some people say my phone still rings leaving me to think maybe it stays on but there is no sound/display?
I guess this is further apparent considering to turn my phone on I have to hold the power button for a while, as if I'm powering down to then power up again.
Does anyone know why this could be or has experienced anything similar with the kernel/ROM?
I am probably going to re-flash the ROM and use the stock kernel since it's supposedly the official ROM.
If the problem persists, however, I am wondering what steps I would have to take in order to send it off to insurance for a replacement handset.
Can insurance companies void my claim if they know the phone has been tinkered with? I know this has been asked many times but specific to my handset what steps would I take to get it 'claim-ready'?
Thanks guys!
Thers nothing wrong with the rom I assure you!
Reflash it again and leave the kernel as it is and see how you go with that.
Probably an issue with the custom kernel you are using and the rom.

No Screen after rooting and regional unlock

Hi Guys. I got my note 3 recently (4 days ago).
Anyway i did my research here in the forum to root it and to use chain fire regional unlock. My note 3 came with 4.3 and mj5. I used Kingo App and later i used "regional lock away" because i'm in DR. The regional lock, i think it didn't work because i was getting sim unlock code and then i waited 60 sec as the instructions said and i restarted the phone. And i got the message again but i didn't care because it was too late. I did this at midnight.
So i decide to use the phone but then i was so tired that i prefer to stop and do it at morning so i put the cellphone on the table and i went to sleep. Today i woke up to check the phone and i can hear everything but the screen is not working is all black. I don't know what happened i need some help. I don't know if i brick the phone because it was working so good yesterday. It came with s view case i don't know if is original but it was working really nice with it just to add some information .
i tried pulling of the battery, wait a long time and nothing the screen is just black. I would think the lcd is broken. But it didn't fall and it was working yesterday so i don't get it.
Now i check with kingo app in my pc and it says it's not rooted the phone. wth?. Do you think the rooting process mess up my phone or the regional lock away?
