[Q] Can't Flash Sense ROMs and Can't Unroot - Hero CDMA Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I don't know what the problem is... Clearly... That's why I'm here... But I can not flash any ROMs that have Sense UI in them, and I can not unroot my phone. I have clockwork recovery, and I've tried flashing every ROM with Sense UI and I always get an error message... something about an error on line 77, and when I try to unroot, I ALWAYS get a USB connection error.... If anyone can help me with either of these problems... I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.

I used RA recovery to flash sense. Works most of the time

Unable to install 2.2.1 when prompted by Nexus One - please help

Hello,
I have a Nexus One with Froyo FRG33 installed. Previously, I had installed cyanogen 6.0 with clockworks recovery.
The mobile keeps prompting me to install the latest update. When I click yes, it reboots into clockwork recovery, where I can't work out what to do next.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Many thanks.
If you want to install the OTA update, you need the stock recovery (must be somewhere in the forums), if you have Cyanogen i dont recommend doing this... there was a way to stop the messages but don't remember how
WRONG PLACE TO PU A QUESTION btw
And be warned, you lose root with this patch.

Hello,
Thanks for the response. I already had installed stock fr91 which was upgraded to frg33. That did not get rid of clockwork recovery.
I don't care about root so not really concerned about that. Tux.

Help unrooting Legend from 2.2.

Hi,
I'm wondering if there's any proper way to unroot and put Legend to factory state again.
I have latest nightly cyanogen now.
I've tried several things (htc ruu install, flashing with stock rom, flashing with indigo bean, etc.) but every and each one of them finished with nothing - phone with question mark is shown and then it reboots.
So, none of this works. The next thing I want to try is to flash with modaco's custom rom via their instructions - maybe this will work? Is it any good idea?
I just start to wonder if I can break something by trying this stuff over and over.
Any tips?

I assume you'll have to flash to a rom such as modaco's. Well any rom that still has all the HTC sync and tethering rubbish still on it. As this is used to detect the phone when you run the ruu .exe files to flash back to stock.
Can anyone back me up on that? Also shouldn't this thread be in general?
Try this tutorial

I am not sure if it works, but give it a try. Hope it helps.
I'll write you a guide for the easiest way to unroot very shortly..

[Q] Anyone have a backup of an original HTC sense Froyo ROM?

Long story short, I was trying to install Cyanogenmod onto my phone and I ended up bricking it (Tried reinstalling both the official release of Cyanogen and Nightly. I get pass installation from Clockwork Recovery, but once I reboot, my phone just keeps on looping at the loading screen), and none of my backups made from ROM Manager work because everytime I try to use one, it gives me an error that it cannot access /system. Pretty much all I'm asking for is if anyone has an original HTC Sense Froyo backup ROM they can upload and send to me? If you have Dropbox and want to do it via that, I'm fine with that too.
Thanks in advance, the only other way I see out of my situation right now is buying another phone so I would rather not have to do that
If you go to the shipped rom sticky in the development section they have all the orignal froyo roms.

[Q] Updating PRL, Fresh Rom won't install

I'm currently using clockwork mod recovery v2.5.0.7, hero-deck gingerbread rom with firerats. I changed my mtdpartmap to accommodate for the fresh sense rom and tried flashing the rom, but I get an error and the flash is aborted. It says something like symlink busybox... Does anybody have any idea why I would be able to flash the fresh rom? I'd like to do so to update my PRL. Thanks for the help! I was able to flash my backup of the hero-deck rom without any trouble. Do I need to flash a different recovery?
Maybe it's something with that setup, b/c i have the same problem. I'm running deck 1.2.1, CWM2.5.0.7, with firerats as well and I got the same error when trying to flash Fresh last week to update PRL. Something about busybox and Symlink error on line 62.
I haven't tried it yet, b/c my signal is generally pretty good (making the benefit of a PRL update negligible)....but, my next step was gonna be re-flashing a new recovery and trying again. I also tried LiquidSense, but i got stuck at the HTC screen at boot.
Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately, my signal at home is not the greatest. I've been lately trying everything I can do to increase my data speeds and thought it might help to update the prl. Oddly enough though, on my drive to work today with full bars my data speeds were only .3 Mbps. I don't understand that.

Have you tried without using firerat's? I use firerat's on Jaybob's, but never when I update using NFX's Rom. Firerat's rewrites the symlink and could be the issue with anything earlier than 2.2 (froyo) and above.
Flash a new recovery 1st, or download the firerat's removal tool from the firerat's thread. I just flash a new recovery then format everything 3 times in clockwork ( system, boot, data, cache), then flash a sense Rom. No need for any firerat's steps unless you use the removal tool.
You think Meth is bad? Try being a flash whore with a Gingerbread habit and a legacy device! It ain't pretty.
I flashed a new recovery and then installed fresh. It worked well. Unfortunately, my download speeds seem to now be slower. I suppose I'll have mess around with different prls. Thanks foe the help!

Updated PRL with Fresh!
Successfully Updated my PRL twice last night on Fresh ROM. Now I'm flashing back to CM7 Nightly! Thanks to all the devs and everybody for your help!

[Q] No Recovery?

hey everyone i found some threads about this ( well similar but nothing like it) i just got my vivid and had to root it and get a new rom so i could overclock it and get all the goodies. i came from the inspire and before that htc winmo phones. ive always rooted and flashed roms so im no noob but im so stumped here. i rooted it and everything went fine ( even though i felt it was a little more difficult than rooting my inspire) then i downloaded a rom and tried to flash the same way ive always done it with my inspire and my GFs samsung fascinate and her thunderbolt and it successfully flashes then it bootloops. so i tired another rom. same thing. so i reverted back to the stock att rom. then out of nowhere i cant get to recovery. through hboot or anything. i then installed rom manger and installed cwm. still nothing i cant get to that either. so i cant flash roms and cant get to recovery. i really dont know whats going on. can anybody shed some light on the situation? thanks in advance.
