hey everyone i found some threads about this ( well similar but nothing like it) i just got my vivid and had to root it and get a new rom so i could overclock it and get all the goodies. i came from the inspire and before that htc winmo phones. ive always rooted and flashed roms so im no noob but im so stumped here. i rooted it and everything went fine ( even though i felt it was a little more difficult than rooting my inspire) then i downloaded a rom and tried to flash the same way ive always done it with my inspire and my GFs samsung fascinate and her thunderbolt and it successfully flashes then it bootloops. so i tired another rom. same thing. so i reverted back to the stock att rom. then out of nowhere i cant get to recovery. through hboot or anything. i then installed rom manger and installed cwm. still nothing i cant get to that either. so i cant flash roms and cant get to recovery. i really dont know whats going on. can anybody shed some light on the situation? thanks in advance.
You can flash recovery ...just see the super guide thread

I don't know what the problem is... Clearly... That's why I'm here... But I can not flash any ROMs that have Sense UI in them, and I can not unroot my phone. I have clockwork recovery, and I've tried flashing every ROM with Sense UI and I always get an error message... something about an error on line 77, and when I try to unroot, I ALWAYS get a USB connection error.... If anyone can help me with either of these problems... I would very much appreciate it. Thank you.
I used RA recovery to flash sense. Works most of the time

Just figured I would introduce myself. I am a new member to the site and am new to android. I have the evo 4g and am recently rooted. Any helpful information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Hey buddy, im new too, been a browser for quite a while but finally decided to become a member Oh and welcome!
Welcome! I'm pretty newly registered here too. Just got myself an Samsung Galaxy S2, rooted it last week and now starting with custom ROMs and kernels all the way!
I just signed myself up after rooting my phone too... Although had a scary bricking moment last night solved by a quick nandroid recovery
Just rooted AND got CM7 onto my Milestone 2!!! Something i've been wanting to do since I got it 6 months ago Even if you think your phone is fast, it will run faster with a custom rom!
Im new too been looking for while have a SGS and have Blockbuster 5.0 on it soooo good.
hello everyone!
need help to reach recovery
i have rooted my htc evo 3d through the htc development method ( ie s-off, but rooted). Everything went well and i got the super user. But i am having one issue - unable to go to fastboot>bootloader>recovery to flash any rom. As soon as i select bootloader, it immediately goes to fastboot. So i am unable to go to recovery from bootloader to flash roms. Appreciate any help

It doesn't sound like you have flashed a custom recovery yet. You'll need one to flash a ROM. I recommend the TeamWin Recovery Project (TWRP) recovery for the Evo 3D.

my problem is resolved. i had selected the option of check imgsrc option on fastboot, and after that i was able to go to recovery to flash a new rom.
I'm seem to be in a bit lost following the SuperGuide in the Rum Raider post. I have followed all the direction step by step but I cant seem to find a solution to flash the rom. After I flash the kernal using boot flash and when i go to recovery to flash the rom i select recovery and i dont see any options the phone just does to the HTC boot screen. This is the second HTC vivid phone out of the box missing any recovery selection?
Any help is appreciated.
AT&T HTC Vivid.
you HAVE to install the custom recovery...its in the superguide
It appears I used the PH39IMG.zip "the RUU file" from the Rum Raider post and used it with the SuperGuide walkthrough. This was my mistake thinking it was the same file. Thanks for input it worked as it should.
Yea I was installing RumRaider last night and I had an issue because I was using a different version of the PH39IMG.zip file. Found the issue and got my phone up and running RumRaider. I'm loving it, it's really slick! My original Vivid was running stock and I was having screen issues so I got a replacement shipped out to me, so I decided to put the ROM on it and see how it went. Works great and I can't wait to switch over to the new phone. Just need to finish moving some pictures over.
Quick question to the vivid folks, does thecubed's restore work? (the one from ICS to GB). I was reading through some of the questions and it seems like some people had trouble working it out. Has anyone had success with it? I dont want to end up like the guy who had his radios deleted...
I can't directly answer your question. If you are stock and un-rooted the update through ATT works really well. I had no issues whatsoever with the update..
My issue with ICS right now is there no voice dialer when using bluetooth. Other than that it is really fluid and works well.
im on the pre rooted ics and i dont really like it. I'm going back to GB.
never used thecubed's method, but i have installed holiraider(gb) rom after ive installed pgs rumfloat(ics) with no problems
just flashed the boot.img through fasboot then flashed the rom zip on cwm
and everything worked fine
hope this helps

I can only assume that when you say "that guy" you mean me, but that method works, but it won't downgrade your radio back to the gb radio. what you thought was deleted radios was a result of swapping out RIL files so the rom didn't know what show in the info because the files are different and can't be swapped out like on other htc phones such as the inspire 4g. and the reason i was playing around with that is because i believe it's what causes people hearing their echo back when i talk to them while i'm on speakerphone.
with that being said, good luck to you. let me know if you have similar issues otherwise ur stuck on ics

I can vouch for this as well. I flashed back and forth between ICS and GB ROMS. Just fastboot flash the boot image and do not try to reflash any HBOOT to go back to GB or you will likely brick your Vivid.

I used thecubeds' GB restore 2x: #1 went from ICS RUU.52 to GB then did the OTA to .56 and #2 my wifes phone got an error during the .56 OTA install. I just pulled the battery and put in my EXT SD with the PH file and went back to GB then did the OTA again with success. It's pretty simple and worked perfectly both times. Glad I have that file. Thanks thecubed!
So im jimmy. hey. Ive been on this site a while but never post anything. Why? because i can read directions and definitely am not a noob .
Anyways im stuck with my vivid.
I have HTC Unlocked it.
I successfully perm-rooted it.
I also have successfully S-off'd and installed the Juopunut H boot.
As well as sim unlocked my vivid.
I decided i didnt want to mess with any of the kernel mumbo jumbo or roms because i was happy with stock.
But the bluetooth glitch was driving me nuts so i decided to change roms.
I first experimented with a kernel just to see if i fully understood the procedure. Since i was s off i just flashed to CWM but it didnt work.
First, my wifi wouldnt work.
Then i tried the hboot method.
I got stuck in the boot loop. Cleared the cache and everything and nothing worked.
Tried fastbooting and its like it wants to work, it will load up to the preparing apps screen and then freeze on 1 of 8.
I tried flashing the stock rom over the kernel and the wallpaper comes up and the taskbar but thats it.
After that it restarts.
Ive read almost all the threads but no one seems to give a direct answer to this issue.
I REALLY WANT TO AVOID HAVING TO RELOCK AND RUU FLASH.
but if thats what i have to do then i have no choice.
Clearly if that is my only option how do i go about re installing the oem locked hboot?
EDIT:
Ok i got my phone to boot up again by installing the stock deodexed rom. But when i try to install the kernel by faux123 thats when my phone starts acting up.
Note that i am S OFF with the Juopunut hboot and the kernel should work with any rom.
I can flash this kernel through CWM or even fastboot it but no luck
Well ya can't use a different kernel than provided with the ROM for the stock rooted firmware. Extract the boot.img from the .zip and fastboot flash it and then flash the ROM after wiping all the usual partitions.
You should know this stuff if you've been lurking and reading for a while...

Youre right. I was able to do exactly that last night.
Thing is... i decided to go with the raiders rom, flashed it, installed the faux kernel then after reflashed the kernel after the install
via fastboot... it worked last night. wifi and everything.
BUT this morning i go to use my phone and the wifi was stuck yet again on turning on
