[Q] Firmware I9000XFJM5/I9000OXFJM2/I9000XXJM1/I9000XFJM5 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anybody know where I can find this firmware?
I9000XFJM5/I9000OXFJM2/I9000XXJM1/I9000XFJM5
I'm planning to Kies upgrade to the UK version of 2.2 Froyo. But I want to have a localized backup for when a official update hits JM5 So I can reflash it with odin.
Also if I upgrade with kies is there any method to revert back to the XFJM5?

i checked samfirmware, couldn't find it

How to get back to stock FW/Modem/etc

Hi all,
Friend flashed the S to FW 2.1 ver XWJM2. Stock firmware was I9000XXJF3.
Is there any way to use Kies to restore the factory default FW to JF3 and to also restore the modem and CSC parts too? If not, how is it possible to get all these back to JF3? Does the JF3 package on samsung-firmwares contain the extra files? Other firmwares seem to contain only a phone firmware...
I basically want the phone back to how it was from the factory - is this possible at all without using custom FWs from Samsung-Firmwares?
All firmwares off samsung-firmwares are official ones created by Samsung themselves, and are not modified. The PDA, Phone and CSC tar files are included inside each .rar archive, so if you grab the JF3 fw, it'll have the JF3 phone and CSC tar files too.
Hope this clarifies things for you
OK thanks. As a test I downgraded to JF1 and plugged into Kies. Shows an update is available but the upgrade option is grayed out and it says "The firmware on this device cannot be updated".
I can flash to JF3 if I need to sell it so thats not a problem, but I'm slightly concerned about Kies not working. Does this mean that when 2.2 comes out via Kies it won't update?
No, it probably just means that Kies doesn't recognize JF1 as an "official" firmware and so doesn't attempt to upgrade it. Though if you want to stay on the newest firmwares, you'll want to dump Kies anyway. I'd actually recommend the JM2 firmware, it's the latest Eclair firmware and the most stable (JM5 came out today, but I don't know about it).

About flashing

So i wanted to know if i flash via Odin, can i still update to Froyo via Kies normally and can i get official firmware releases in the future?
if you can do Odin, might as well stay with Odin
but yes, you can use Kies to flash Froyo when it comes out officially
Just need to do the registry hack
Sorry i ment that can i upgrade to the official Froyo when it comes out. Not those leaked ones. My bad.
yes, even for the official one you'll probably have to do the KIES registry hack for it to load the official Froyo, if you happen to be in any other non official ROM
Ok thanks mate!
If i flash to JF3 and upgrade from JF3 to JM2 via Kies officially. Will that work?
So to explain this clearly. I want to flash JF3, but i want to know can i upgrade in Kies for JM2 after that and can i upgrade to Froyo in the future without any registry editing and stuff.
JM2 is a legit ROM from Kies, so yes, you should get 2.2 when it comes out from Kies without registry change

Upgrade to nordic 2.2 then to UK 2.2?

I have a UK o2 JM1 SGS, if I use the reg hack to upgrade to the Nordic 2.2 now, will I be able to use a Hack to then apply the 2.2 UK rom while already on 2.2?
Would I have to go back to JM1 then go to UK 2.2? I don't have 3BR mode on my phone so I cannot risk using Odin.
I don't know how android applies it updates, if it like windows applying a service pack and updating files? or is it like an iPhone where it just wipes and copies a complete new rom on?
Thanks

[Q] Reflash firmware using Kies

Hi all,
I am on the current official JPO firmware and latest Kies. I was wondering if there is a way to force Kies to reflash the same firmware back. My GPS was working great when I initially upgraded to JPO but something's happened and now its just crap
Thanks in advance

[Q] Stock firmware that works with Kies?

I want to restore my SGS to stock firmware, so it works with Kies etc, as if I've not installed custom roms on it.
Which is the best route to go with this (e.g. which firmware version), preferably Froyo or Eclair.
Thanks!
Use Odin and install one of the Stock, or stock deodexed ROMs. Or if you want to revert back to original Vodafone ROM then check http://www.samfirmware.com to see if they have it. All stock firmware should work with Kies. Out of curiosity, why do you need Kies ? I never use it.

You can use Check Fus Downloader to download lots of stock roms. It depends on what country and carrier.

JPY did the trick, was correctly recognised by Kies and offered me the Gingerbread upgrade

Stock SGS firmware for EU is now Gingerbread JVO. Connects to Kies as normal.

The reason I wanted to install an earlier firmware was just to ensure the phone was correctly identified by Kies, and the Kies firmware update process would complete ok.
I'm probably going to sell the phone, hence need to make sure it's in "factory" working order.
Well from factory, all eu uk sgs phones will be shipping with jvo...

My phone was running a custom rom yesterday. Flashed froyo jpy when I had issues yesterday. connected it to kies and it gave me gingerbread jvo. No spoofs. It just worked. Now back on simply honey but at least I have a route out now!
How about an asian ROM that works with Kies Firmware Update?
I Flashed back to DXJF4 to try to update my firmware to at least DXJPA via Kies but the Update button is greyed out.
