[Q] Firmware package editing. - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If you open the .tar file you find the "zimage" "pram.lfs" modem.bin" "farctory.rfs" "cache.rfs"
my question is, If I remove all the files except the modem.bin and put this in odin as phone will this update my modem only? Keeping my firmware etc.
Thanks,
Luke.

Bump!
Can anyone answer this?
I don't want to just try it and end up having to flash again

[REQ] Decryption code for JPA XEN

I want to be able to flash the KIES firmware trough odin. I allready managed to download GT-I9000_I9000XWJPA_I9000XENJP2_I9000XXJPP_I9000XWJPA_XW_XEN.zip.enc This is the firmware I installed trough kies and is currently on my phone. I want to create Odin separate file package in case I **** something up I can always return to my original firmware. Could someone provide the decryption code for http://fus.samsungmobile.com/Phone_...00XENJP2_I9000XXJPP_I9000XWJPA_XW_XEN.zip.enc . Many thanks in advance!
If you have upgraded via Kies you might be able to find the unecrypted rom in a temp directory of your computer.
Orcie keep me posted on your findings?
I already posted a Odin flashable JPA rom.
It is the same as the one from Kies, but it has been converted to a mid package to allow flashing with Odin.
CSC_I9000XENJP2-SINGLE
GT-I9000_I9000XWJPA_I9000XXJPP_CODE-MODEM_OSP-MID
Allready spotted that. Have the code now 55625. Richthoven how do you convert from single file to mid level package? I can tell what files need to go where but it seems that I need something extra?

[Q] Flash with odin without modem.bin?

My friend has asked me to flash his phone with new firmware.
But he is on the Telstra network with 850MHz NextG so I want to keep the modem.bin file he has currently on his phone.
I would just create the firmware with the modem.bin file that he has but I can't seem to get it for download. there is one rapidfile link but it looks like it has been removed from the server and I can't seem to get I9000TDVJH3.tar anywhere.
I can only seem to get the CSC file.
If I flash his phone with Odin without that file would it just stay the same? And would I have to remove the dbdata.rfs?
If anyone has the modem.bin i'm looking for can they please pm me. Thanks.

[Q] How to restore a .tar file downloaded from sammobile.com?

Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone would happen to know how to restore a .tar file that I downloaded from sammobile.com/firmware/ . I got it in the hopes it would have a seperate PDA, CSC etc. files so I could restore using Odin put I have to admit I was stumped when I just got one .tar file. The file in question is Optus' 2.3.3 firmware and is called 'jvn_jv5_jv1.tar' if it's any help. The files inside the tar are:
-zImage
-param.lfs
-cache.rfs
-factoryfs.rfs
-boot.bin
-modem.bin
-Sbl.bin
Thanks.
Not 100% certain on this so perhaps wait for a confirmation but I think that if you only have one tar file you put it in the PDA and flash it.

Can totally confirm this!!
But if you want further confirmation there are instructions on sammobile.com
It's an easier way to flash as its only one file and less people can get the files mixed up. (It still has the kernal and modem inside it)
Edit: Just check and it seems to be missing dbdata.rfs Did you miss that out. If its not there then do another download and see if it is. If not then im sure it'll be fine..

help with changing my csc

Hello
Here's the story
I have a note 5 n920c my original csc code was mid (iraq)
I installed the ( MinotaurusRom V10 ) rom
I didnt have issues with it but i wanted to go back to stock
So i did that but the issue is i now have the (xsg) country code (united Arab Emirates)
And i tried all kind of roms
Is there a way to get back my original csc code .
""( Smart switch doesn't work for my phone .. it says . N920c doesnt support initialization)""
Thanks .:crying:
You can factory restore using Kies, instead of Smart Switch.
Do an Emergency Firmware restore. That will make everything as factory.

I tried kies and it says it doesnt supprt
download the latest rom of XSG for N920c & install it with odin software

You'll have to edit the zip to fit your country's CSC code manually, but this is probably the best method to change CSC without wiping your internal storage. It's what I do whenever I flash a custom ROM that changes my CSC.
Do note that you have to flash the zip DIRECTLY after a clean flash of the custom ROM or else the CSC will not change. Or you could flash the zip and then do a factory reset in twrp (or is it the other way around? I can remember. Just experiment around it.)
Good luck
Edit: or if you do want to wipe your internal storage along, you could download the PhoneInfo app from play store and change your CSC from there.
Edit 2: from my personal experience, for some reason the default CSC in the N9208 Malaysia XME stock ROM is the Philippines CSC. So what I did was I went inside XME folder which is inside the CSC folder which is inside the zip file, and copied all the files there and replaced the files in /CSC (basically outside of the XME folder). If the same thing happens to you this may help as well. Also check the .xml file and make sure that it shows the right CSC for you.
Edit 3: also this belongs in the Q&A forum, mods please move this.

hello eushaun99
so when I open the XME firmware (zip file) I only see one file which when unzipped/extracted turns out to be one file... I dont see any folders.
Would you kindly elaborate on the method. I need to try changing CSC as I no longer have 4G/LTE on my phone.. just H/H+
ps with latest ota update/security patch, my note 5 9208 ain't letting me downgrade to any previous firmware via odin.
Kindly help me out

The one file as in the .tar.md5 file? If so rename it to .tar, then you can extract the files inside. After that follow the link I gave to extract the cache.img which contains the CSC folder.

Uhh, you'll have to do some research on that as I don't have any experience in tarballing stock ROMs. I've seen some guides somewhere to tarball stock ROM.

Just downloaded the whole Verizon firmware off Sammobile and have question?

I just downloaded the firmware and notice I have an extra file called
"USERDATA_VZW_G950USQU1AQK3_CL11982677_QB15624471_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar"
What is this, what does it do and how do i flash this in odin?
All the other files have a space in odin except this...
Thanks so much!
