Would anybody who is code savy like to try and get batteryFu working on the CDMA network? Looks like the developer is in another country and does not have access to our network. He gives some instruction on how it may work on our network, but just not technical enough to understand. Thanks in advanced.

I'm moving to an area where I don't get service and after taking to att, they said I'm screwed basically. Us cellular has excellent service there. So my question is if I unlock will I be able to bounce off their towers? I'm on continium 5.5. And does anyone have a sip account they recommend? Thanks guys

No problem. Glad i could help.
I wanted to try it too, but web site says that they have no numbers at this time.
I will have to check back later. I'm trying to use CSipSimple app with antisip and I'm getting no where.
I'm on DlevRom 5.0 with DarkCore, so I'm going to his thread and ask if his Rom will allow wifi calling.
Just to throw this out there -
From what I understand (and it could be wrong), if AT&T can't provide service to you in a given area, they're not technically holding up their end of the TOS of your contract, and you would have grounds to get out of your contract without having to pay the ETF. Basically, when you signed on, they said they would provide you with cellular phone service and you would provide them with monetary compensation. If they can't give you the service, they are in breach of contract, and you shouldn't (keyword: shouldn't) have to stay in the contract with them.
I'm no AT&T (or cell phone plans in general) expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but you might want to call AT&T and have a discussion about this and see what your options are.
Anyone else have any thoughts / opinions / experience with this issue?
Like the subject says... if someone can point me in the right direction, it would be appreciated. Not at all sure where to start. I can run pretty much whatever Cappy kernel & ROM I want, including different modems. Just wondering what the technical issues & tasks would be. And, of course, I'd need to know which, if any, non AT&T networks would work on the Cappy.
The Captivate will work on T-mobile, but because of the frequencies used by T-mobile u can only get the Edge on their network.
As far as other non att networks, u will just have to search and see what frequencies they use and then compare that to what the Cappy runs on.

The phone must be unlocked, and you can do that for free here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761045
When you SIM unlock it, it can work on any gsm carrier like AT&T, T-Mobile, Vodafone, and most other international carriers
I am running it on T-Mobile but it only gets Edge.
If you perform a sim unlock your can always put it on a mvno like Straight Talk or Red Pocket. You can use HSPA on those instead of slow edge.

It's been awhile since I looked at modem particulars as well as goodies in LBS Test Mode, but IIRC, can't we specify bands and frequencies if need be, if the modem allows?

Hmmm... sounds interesting. Have you any experience with MVNOs in the US?

I just got my Nexus7 3G in Chile (bought in US).
everything was working fine but after install the Micro SIM (a standard sim, chopped according to mobile company people instructions), the tablet doesn't get data transfer (already purchased a data pack).
on google's support site for nexus, the only solution was "contact AT&T support" but that's for a AT&T user, and here I'm trying to another company (CLARO).
No info on XDA-dev's forum about this issue.
please, some help here...

Do you get a no Sim error or just no signal? Did you input your carriers APN settings into the APN list through settings?

If its compatible with your carrier then its gotta be an APN discrepancy. What APN settings are you using?

Yes~

Suggest you take the phone to your network and let them check your network settings .
jje
well..
you operator may support it but that doesn't mean you are in an area that has 4G.
make sure you have a 4G enabled sim. if your sim is pre- 2011 get a new one.
some providers dont inlcude 4G in there plans and require an added payment to enable it. speak with your provider to see.
another thing you could do is go on your providers page and make sure your within range of the 4G network. keep in mind that the range of 4G is limited and some towns don't have it all togther.
try this:
settings-> more settings -> mobile networks -> network mode and make sure its set to Auto Mode.
make sure you have all the APN settings required.
they are automatic for the most part but can fail.
to re install them delete all the APN settings and search for networks.
some ROMs do not support the 4G modem and cause issues so be careful when flashing.
if the worse comes to worse and you are tech savvy take a look at this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010116
but be careful and good luck
So I broke a phone and a friend gave me a Sgh-t679 for TMobile... I did a little searching and I see I pretty much have to pay for an unlock code... If I pay for a code can I use it on Verizon as they use cdma and lte? And as they use a micro Sim? I thank you kindly for your time I greatly appreciate a reply...

:what: You cannot use a GSM phone on a CDMA network. :banghead:

Thank you kindly for you reply... I was just checking, as in *#*#info#*#* menuthere is the option cdma only... So I take it, that statement was your kind and polite way of saying "no sir, unfortunately this is a GSM only device and you will not be able to use it on a CDMA network"....so if that's the case I thank you for that...

There is a difference with what you are talking about and what your asking. What you asked refers to hardware, the modems are not compatible. Roaming is slightly different. Most CDMA carriers do not use a Sim style card, as far as I know Verizon is the only company that does. In the U.S. there are a few gsm carriers that would work with the t679. But it will never work on a CDMA network. For more info on the difference between CDMA and gsm check Google, there are several articles explaining why its not possible. That's how I knew the answer to your question to begin with.
I am using ATT. ATT is also gsm. Verzon is cdma. You cant use a gsm phone on CDMA. Sorry:crying::crying:
