[Solved][Q] Cannot get custom recovery - Click Android Development

Hello guys,
I have a strange problem. I had root and maverix custom recovery for a while and I was running SPQrom very fine. I flashed back the stock 1.67.405.6 WWE ROM and as expected I lost root and the custom recovery.
Now when I run the 1 click root (rootTattoo) and restart in recovery, I still get the default recovery screen with an exclamation mark. I have the step over and over again and still I get the default recovery screen. How can I get the custom recovery again?
Thanks,
Yash
Edit:
This problem was caused because something was wrong with rooting of the device. Here are the steps I followed to get a custom recovery installed again:
1. Use the one click root apk:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=761507
2. Activate root on my phone with the apk
3. Followed instructions from here http://coolbits.homeip.net/blog/2010/03/09/flash-custom-recovery-for-htc-tattoo/ to manually flash the recovery image.

I upgraded to official donut build and lost root, someone help :(

I lost my root access and have been unable to get it back and install my old cyanogen rom. someone please help me try to get it back, ive been trying everything.
is it possible to root donut build once uve installed the real one? it keep aborting any installations i try to do, and doesnt let me flash the recovery img either. i dont know what to do.
Yea the official update will do that... but all is not lost. You can follow the guide here and downgrade to RC29 to gain root
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480
you can follow those steps to regain root on your phone, when choosing which rom you'd like to run, if you'd still like to have root access but prefer the official builds you can check out this thread

if you still have an engineering or death spl, you can just flash recovery from fastboot.
Boot your phone while holding the camera, then press back button, you should see "fastboot usb" on the screen. Download amon_ra's recovery (look for it in android development) and flash it doing "fastboot flash recovery recovery-RA-dream-v1.2.2.img". After it's done you should have recovery back and now you can restore your nandroid or flash another update.zip
I downgraded back to RC29 successfully, but now its not letting me install any apps from the sdcard or online to the phone, it just keeps saying Install unsucccessful on any app. Wat could be causing this?
i ended up rooting the phone the old way, using telnet. now its working again

[Q] I'm stuck in StartUP Boot Screen

Hello XDAs
I'm middle of the way on rooting my phone (Nexus One, Android 2.3.4) & flashing a custom rom (cm7 passion-V106)
I follow the tutorial at below & i've done most of the steps
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Nexus_One:_Full_Update_Guide
Here is what i've done,
-Unlocking the Bootloader
-Installing a Custom Recovery Image both Amon_Ra's Recovery & ClockworkMod Recovery but Amon_Ra is not working.... i unable to boot into Amon_Ra...
-Flashing Radio 5.08.00.04 but i receive a error message that the version is not supported
- Flashing CyanogenMod via ClockworkMod Recovery but i didn't receive install sucessfull message, it only return me back to ClockworkMod Recovery menu.
- Flashing Google Addon Apps via ClockworkMod Recovery - the only flashing that i receive install complete message
After i've done the process above and its come out that i have stuck on the CM7 Loading screen (Blue boot animation screen)
There is a few thing i've noticed which might be the problem...
1:The S_Lock is till On when i boot into Bootloader mode
2: My phone is still unrooted and i unable to use the ROM Manager from Apps Market.
3: sometimes i will not able to access ClockworkMod, it only shows me the " ! " Sign with an Android logo next to it.
Can someone help me with this... i'm stuck now and unable to turn on my phone...

Unlocking the bootloader doesn't give you s-off or root. You would need a rooted rom to run root apps/superuser.
You need to wipe everything and flash the rom again in recovery (you can't have both recoveries installed at once btw). Your hboot may need updating.
Flash the radio via fastboot so you don't brick your phone. Download it again in case your version is corrupt. You might wanna flash the recovery again.
Might be easier to go back to your nandroid backup (that you must have made, right?) and have a working phone for a while until you read around the subject.
*edit* or just read the wiki lol

Uninstall ROM

Hello. I need help!! I want my htc sense 3.6 back on my phone but I am not sure how to uninstall MIUI ROM. In other words, I wanted what I had right after I rooted my phone, before I installed MIUI ROM. Anyone know how to do this? Thanks!
If you made a recovery file in the recovery then just install the file if not then relock the bootloader and run the Stock ruu file and then just re unlock root ect.

I imagine you would have rooted your phone, unlocked bootloader (maybe), and flashed a custom recovery (like clockworkmod or wcx). I don't think any of those things would have changed during your use of MIUI.
Easiest way? Relock your bootloader (if you had unlocked it), and then run the stock RUU for your phone to revert your phone to stock. Then you can unlock bootloader again and then root your stock rom (I believe there is the all-in-one tool that makes rooting quite easy).
Or... if you want to try another custom rom, download the rom zip, copy it on your SDCard, and....
1) Pull the battery, and re-insert
2) Boot phone by holding VOLDOWN and POWER. You are in bootloader. At this screen you can see if you are S-ON or S-OFF (good to know for the later steps)
3) Choose recovery
4) If you're in WCX recovery or ClockWorkMod recovery, then you can do the 4 wipes (Data/Cache/Dalvik/System). ** But if you see you are NOT in a custom recovery, stop now.
5) Then you can flash the custom rom zip.
6) *At this point - if you are S-OFF, then the rom's kernel would have flashed with the rom, so you're done.
*But if you're S-ON, you will now need to flash the rom's kernel manually via fastboot. (on your computer, just extract the boot.img from the rom's zip, put it in the same folder where your fastboot.exe is, and run
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

(Please help) Optimus black shows Security error screen when boot

Hi guys, my friend just bricked his LG Optimus black, by trying to reach recovery mode through Rom manager...
When booting, the security error screen flashes and it turns back off.
I've tried to reach recovery/download mode, by trying several button combinations found on the internet, but none of them seems to work, I get the same security error screen (even when the phone is connected to PC).
Can you guys please help, I have zero experience with this phone
Your friend's phone shows security error because he flashed recovery while he was running a v30x stock rom.
With the update to official ICS, the bootloader changed and if you want to keep stock ICS with recovery you need to flash an unlocked bootloader following this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2160394.
You could also try using SmartFlash Tool to flash this ROM that already includes a recovery, but, if you flash it, you'll have a gingerbread ROM with an old bootloader and a recovery that can be used to flash CyanogenMod based ROMs.

Thanks, I finally managed to access Download mode and flash stock firmware, and I also flashed the unlocked bootloader, using the exe file...
But I still have a problem...
I still can't access CWM. When pressing the combination in the post you linked, it just shows me a screen, writing recovery mode, and it does nothing.
Didn't the exe file install CWM?
Is it safe to install it with Smart Flash Tool now?
Can you boot to stock ROM? If yes, is his phone rooted?

I can boot to stock ROM, and yeah I rooted it with Unlock Root after installing the unlocked bootloader.
Download terminal emulator from play store, download recovery.img from here and place it in the root of his sdcard.
Open terminal emulator, type su, press enter, type dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4 and you should have finished! :highfive:

[Q] CWM Recovery Problem

I installed CWM recovery successfully, my phone's bootloader is also unlocked, but now my cwm is gone, i cannot boot into recovery mode! Any suggestions? do i need to install CWM again? will the root disappear if i do so?
Did you change your kernel?
If you reinstall cwm your root shouldn´t be gone (idk how you installed your recovery, so can´t say for shure ^^), but even if it does, it´s about 5 minuits to re-root your device via recovery
